      I always thought that it made a lot of sense to do these kinds of exercises on treadmills;
      I mean, they are seriously perfect for that.
      I guess it might be slightly more dangerous than walking on the floor, but if you feel that you can control it, then it is an excellent way to do walking exercises such as this one.

      @@JCzCmngALZ you asking me? Are usually put it in the beginning of the work out as a warm-up. Gets my core and abs warmed up. I will do five or six minutes only alternating arms every minute. You can add weight or on the treadmill you can set it to walk faster or even incline. Whatever feels right lol.

      I can see why you’d use a treadmill, especially if your gym is short on walking space. I used to do Farmer Carries and they were a nightmare at my gym; the only place with enough space was the first floor concourse, which connects the two upper areas in the gym (so other people are walking there) and it also has equipment on it…..
      Suitcase carries FTW!

    Good information for a beginner. Will definitely give this a try. I'm just getting started, and trying to get a routine put together. I need a lot of core work and wasnt sure where to begin. I worked my way up on my bench press. Then got sick several times after taking in my nephews. So I have to start all over, but I want to do it right and focus on my core since I know I was able to get my bench press up. Will definitely follow for more information. I need to really work on sticking to a schedule and eating healthier. I've always been a picky eater so that will be the hardest part.

    I use a 45 pound plate (they have handles). I keep my free hand on my thigh so as to not give my self more balance and i lift the weight away from my body as far as I can possibly hold it then slowly walk like that. Keep shoulders back and you will feel your upper back screaming along with your obliques. I do 3 sets of 60 seconds for both sides and I just hold the weight out to add more challenge. Leverage will take you a long way honestly. I consider this my "finisher" to my work outs and it builds up some good strength

    I sometimes use 5 gallon buckets filled with dirt. I use this dirt moving technique when building on my MTB trail when a wheelbarrow is not available. I will now use the buckets more✅. Can I walk with a bucket full of dirt on each side at same time? Does one on each side at same time change the muscle group effectiveness? I just want to move more dirt in each trip. Some trips are 20-30yard walks...most are 10-20 foot trips though.

      Then you effectively turns it into a Farmer's Walk exercise instead. Suitcase Carry is an alternative version of the traditional Farmer's Walk, with a stronger focus on core stability (but less weight usually). Both should be good exercises, but for your cause perhaps Farmer's Walk is more appropriate, at least as the standard exercise/dirt transportation way.

      I heard:
      30-60 seconds on each side at the end of your workout for 1-4 sets. Use a weight that you are able to stand upright without much lean but is challenging by the end of the set.

    I disagree with the lightweight not being effective.
    I will say this: heavy weight is good for short distances, but light weight is good for long distances.
    Have you tried carrying just a quarter or fifth of your bodyweight for a mile? Alternating between arms, of course.

    • @lukaspenner9382
      @lukaspenner9382 Год назад

      Doing light weight for long distances helps with grip endurance, and coordination for extended periods of time, I also feel better activation for my spinal erectors, because it's not so heavy to where my back muscles, and obliques kinda overcome the spinal erectors. Maybe it's just me.
