The head proportions just determine what kind of anime Marisa is from at the time. With 2 she’s from a squishy and adorable slice of life, with 8 she is just from JoJo’s.

Super Marisa Land has a special place in my heart because it introduced me to the Touhou series. I watched a german RUclipsr playing this game waaaaay back and I was like "Who the hell is this ?" But I enjoyed watching it because of the similarities it had with Mario. And after that game I got more interessted in Touhou. It still took a couple of years before I've started playing more and more Touhou games. I've never actually played Super Marisa Land myself but I played New Super Marisa Land a few months ago. After watching this I have to say that New Super Marisa Land seems to be the better one XD But I know what you mean with the weird jump physics^^ I am really looking forward to the next incident :D
This is the first Touhou fangame I played after starting with Embodiment of Scarlet Devil. And for years I assumed that Marisa Land and MegaMari were official Touhou games lol. They still RULE though
I have great memories of this game
My favorite was when i was playing then got hit by an enemy and died... in that second, the keyboard and screen started shaking and I called it a neat effect
The reason of the shaking was thanks to a little earthquake where I lived which I mistook for the game

Definitely a good history of this game. Glad super Marisa land 2 decided to fix some of the issues like those jumps and pick up variety
I remember playing Super Marisa Land back in the day and boy was it an experience. The game definitely had its own charm though, despite it being a bit wonky to control. With Marisa Land Legacy, while I do feel that it improved on some aspects of the game, I felt that it kinda lost some of the charm that Super Marisa Land had and it feels like a completely different game in general. New Super Marisa Land, however, was really great and I definitely enjoyed playing that one.
Proportion 8 turns into a Marisa cosplayer.
I’m all for super mario hacks/fangames so i’m interested in checking this out. Sounds like the controls will be a bit wonky so it’ll be interesting to play.

Wait? There's more than one Extra Stage!? I unlocked Alice just by beating the game, and I assumed there was only one extra stage since it booted me back to the title screen after I beat the first one.
(Edit: I just checked and your title screen looks completely different from mine. We must have a different version. Mine says ver1.11. Below the title I have 5 options from left to right, and below that I have 3 more options in a top down list. The five options from left to right are "Alice extra" "Extra" "Start" "Stage" and "Alice stage". "Start" and "Stage" both do the exact same thing, start the game as Marisa. "Alice stage" also starts the game, but as Alice. "Extra" starts an extra stage as Marisa, and "Alice extra" starts an extra stage, but as Alice. The 3 options below those five are a number which acts as your stage select feature, "Key Config" where you can change your controls, and "Exit" to close down the game.
Most of the menu seems pretty self explanitory, but I never used the stage select feature since I always played the whole game in one sitting. The main game doesn't kick you to the title screen until you've beaten the game, but the extra stages do so after every stage, which led me to believe there was only one extra stage, and that the stage select feature was only for the main game. Turns out the other extra stages ARE in my version, so I guess I've got a lot of suffering ahead of me next time I play! lol If anyone wants to play this game, I recommend getting ver1.11 since you don't have to play the extra stages to unlock Alice.)
Also, I like how you described Mario using Snake's codec call from Brawl.
I was using an older version up to Extra 20, that's when I was told that there's a 1.11, so the menu in the footage is from a previous version, but everything talked about applies to the updated one. If Alice unlocks just from the main game finishing, then that's better than what I ran through for it. Actually, I don't think she's even a part of the previous version as I didn't get her until after I updated, I just assumed it was locked behind the Extra Stages because that's what I was told, not a lot of info on the game to check that with so I just went with it. Extra 21-25 needed to be added to the games folder, and they were way too easy compared to all the other stages. Also I'm glad you caught the Brawl Codec reference, I love that line

So... Are you doing a New Super Marisa Land Video Eventually? Because compared to this one, it's much of a improvement.
I played MarisaLand Legacy before watching this video and oh boy..
the wonky physics with momentum is still the same, most of the level design are bland and boring until later stages when it's different enough to say that it's enjoyable.
I refunded it because it's not really worth the money somehow if the same problem still applied from the first entry to even the lastest release.
the only thing good would probably be her new 8 head proportion. (lewd material amirite lmao)
and not to talk about New Super Marisa Land, the same physics and momentum problem but what if you have to do that while being blow by the wind ?!?!?!?
yeah I have 100+ tries on that level and couldn't beat because the precise jump you have to do if you don't want to fall in the death pit and restart is just not my taste.
