In my limited experience, running OTFs dry is best. It's worked way better than light oil on my Hogue Counterstrike, and it's what G&G Hawk recommend on their deadlock.
Microtech did make a rifle and it didn't have a glassbreaker. Lol. I mean you could Def break glass and a lot more. They produced an American made version of the Steyr AUG , the stg 556
I picked up a BM Infidel from Blade HQ on sale for $375 last year. I'm not sure what they are going for now, though. I've been very happy with it and I can legally carry it in my state. 😉
I own both and absolutely regret buying the infidel. You pay more for a knife of significantly lesser quality. Id never recommended the benchmade. If you're looking for an OTF the Ultratech is basically unmatched in quality for the price.
The shape of the Infidels handle and the positioning of the pocket clip and deployment switch are the best design for deployment and use of any OTF made. I do really like Microtech, just not for serious stealth situations.
The infidel gets allot of hate. Mainly from knife guys. I know multiple people who have used one for many years. Including on deployment. No doubt it's an outdated design now. I would carry one and have no worries about reliability.
I'm saving up right now for a micro tech The blue one full size playing single edge maybe Stonewashed finish not sure yet that mirrored finish looks pretty nice
@@Jimmydeanmerica They are made in Waynesville north Carolina I believe. Which is crazy because I live in Greenville SC which is like thirty minutes away from NC. Like man there's some knife companies out there that charge $1,000 on average and up for a blade. He's more about guns, so there you go lol
Just sold off my BM infidel. Sluggish and needs constant care. If you hold the infidel down and fire and retract, even after cleaning it would barely retract. I felt almost ripped off by BM. Bought a ultratech right after I sold it.
I still have my Infidel, and compared to my microtechs and kershaw livewire, it does feel like absolute rip off. Infidel had like 90% retraction failure rate after a while, lubed it, next day same deal, gonna try soaking it in soapy water and relubing before taking it apart, but thing is pretty trash for the price
I have one of each and give a slight edge to the Infidel. It's better ergonomically and fires easier because it is better broken in. Microtech doesn't mind if you open up their knives, they sell the tool after all, but if you get in there and screw things up it will void the warranty. Opening it for minor service or oiling/maintenance will not void the warranty.
I freaking love knives, I have my whole life & the past 6 years ive been adding to my "collection ". Kershaw kabar BM spyderco CRKT Leatherman & now I'm about to add microtech to that list. I have a utx-70 magnacut d/e coming. It's my first OTF, too! Yay, living in the mountains of Western NC, we dont know what knife laws are either. All users too, my BM 555 is one of my favorites
The Dirac Delta is what you want if you’re using the Infidel as a comparison. The ultratech is a different animal all together. Cool vid though. Love the worn distressing on the Infidel.
I have the microtech ultratech in elmax great OTF. The only downside is the switch which is a little stiff especially for my bum hands as I’ve had rheumatoid arthritis for 40 yrs and surgeries on both wrists so I would of loved a less stiff button/switch but it seems that’s what microtech likes for safety reasons I think. Oh yeah and the screws that u need a special tool for was also disappointing though I’m not the type to take apart an OTF if I wanted to I should be able to without buying a new tool.
I bought a Benchmade Infidel. I stabbed it into 5" of corrugated cardboard and the blade jammed stuck into the handle. Garbage. I sent it back wrapped up in cardboard and got my money back.
Microtech used to have good quality. I got a new genuine Dirac from an authorized dealer and the blade holes came crooked, the switch was loose, it dulled quickly and the belt clip was crooked. So sloppy I made my first RUclips videos about it. Going with the infidel!
I live in Arizona as well. We might have to deal with the summer heat, but at least we can buy guns and knives like they’re going out of style. 😆 Speaking of which, I am about to buy one of the two knives you’re comparing in this video, so BONUS for me! After I finish watching this video, I’ll let you know what my choice will be (talk about an influencer)!
Hey, now…I spend $12.95/month for the privilege of NOT having to watch commercials…and despite being able to just fast-forward through your buddy’s REAL permanent marker, it’s still a pain in my ass, having to do so.🤨
@@Jimmydeanmerica: Thank you for your honest recommendation. I’m leaning that way too. I love the sound of the blade as it comes out and goes in…”zip zip”. Whereas the Benchmade had a lower sound, “zap zap” The one thing I keep getting stuck on (not by the knife) was when you showed both knives side-by-side. The Benchmade is larger…almost molded for a hand…and I have large hands (no, I’m not trying to overcompensate for “something”). 😂 I think before I buy, I need to see if there’s a knife store near me (Phoenix) to pick each one up. I’m C That’s kind of an expensive price to pay by leaving it to chance. Again, I thank you for your candid feedback.🙂
@@RoJoMe the action on the Microtech is amazing. The larger hands could definitely be a thing though. One thing to note, you can definitely score an infidel on tacswap.com for around the same price as the Ultratech. Just a heads up.
Switchblades are illegal in more states than 40mm grenade launcher and machine guns are. PA just made switchblades legal in January of 2023. Machine guns and grenade launchers (as long as you jumped through the federal hoops) were never illegal in PA.
I also have a bench made infidel I took it apart to clean it and now I can't get the trigger to function There's got to be some sort of trick to it please somebody tell me what I'm doing wrong By the way I only paid $365 for my infidel but I did get a special discount on it because of my military service
overall benchmade in this video has a massive handle for the blade size. microtech is more narrow and sleek on all sides for the blade size and still has more spring power and a less blade wobble. and better steel. no comparison
I have both, and love both! Benchmade for EDC on personal time, Microtech for EDC while working. That said, while overseas, many of the guys use the Benchmade while out in the field! BOTH GREAT KNIVES!! Nanotubes sure why there are some on here saying Benchmade is not worth it…other than they are jealous, and can’t afford the Infidel. 😂
@@nickc7320 i bought 2 awesome knives at a pawn shop on the same day. $15 each! A Zero Tolerance 0350 Tiger Stripe and Benchmade 9100 push button automatic. 100 percent real, the store had no idea. Knives were selling at $250-300 each at the time.
I was a big benchmade fan via my service, once I found microtech they are my new favorite! I have a UltraTech, LUDT, and the Monster MSI!
M390 is better Steel then D2
I’ll be honest. The strength of the action on the MT has my attention.

I have to agree when it comes to switch positioning. Gives really good tactile feel. Especially with the way they milled the button and body
