I really wish Benchmade would just type III hard coat anodize some aluminum for these handles, for me it’s insulting to maximize profit and deliver a piece of plastic to loyal customers. This is a company using its well earned reputation to take advantage.
Thanks for your review! Has someone else said this is already an ambidextrous setup since regardless of whether you carry it on the left or the right the actuating button faces the leg and the thumb is in position to fire it after pulling it from the pocket..
I just ordered one this morning. I can’t wait to get it in the mail. Idk why I ordered it when Smoky Mountain Knife Works is only 30 minutes from me, but I did. lol. And it’s not gonna collect dust either. It’s getting carried. I wanted a mini infidel, but said screw it. The Claymore isn’t all that big. I got the straight edge. Not a big fan of serrations. On any knife.
Why aren’t you a fan of serrations on a knife?
@@ProDoc18 just don’t need serrations. I’m not cutting anything heavy duty. I just like a super shoe straight blade.
@@Drewski423 oh that’s understandable. excuse the dumb questions lol I’m new to knifes but what are some examples serrations are used for? I’ve only seen them being used for big rope
@@ProDoc18 big rope, hay strings (a lot of guys I know will use serrations for that ) cutting thru belts, and other textured materials. They act more like a saw than anything.
@@ProDoc18 no such thing as a dumb question tho. For what I use my knives for (peel an apple, orange, slice fruit/food, cut straps, or whatever it is) I can get away with a straight edge.

Would be good to see how much force the spring has on the otf? Will it punch through a basic cardboard box for example? Hard to gauge without seeing it resists something... maybe next video tx
Would do that, but they have a safety feature which stops the deployment if they hit any resistance. Takes all the wind out of the sails!
The OTF version is cool , but I still like the OG out the side claymore ! Great vid, thanks for sharing
With the side fire, and the two edges, I think there's no point to having the reversible pocket clip, no?
Very true! It just keeps the switch on one side only for carry. Sometimes people like the switch up or down.

Have the regular Claymore button automatic. Love that knife comes hella sharp, has a really powerful opening spring. Managed to cut myself with it because the spring is just so strong. For the price it's ok could be cheaper, the otf is tgdh....
Yes you nailed it! The Claymore is so snappy and sharp! This OTF version really has me thinking now as the carry is light and is now competing for EDC time with the Shootout! Hope the Claymore nip was a small one!
I’m right handed but I know that I’ll be carrying it left handed sometimes. It’s a double sided dagger. It’ll work fine.
I just checked these out. I've been debating for a while about an otf. I screwed up and didn't order the maxace Neptune so it's looking like a Benchmade.
Very nice! These have been easier to carry than I thought as the Shootout has been one of my favorites over the last couple of years. Enjoy your new purchase!

I'm still trying to decide about the Claymore OTF. I like the looks of it. The serrated version reminds me of the Gerber double edge fixed blade from the Vietnam era and after.

Single edge plain. Otf or side, just something I can't have in CA. Like the piece of mind of the Benchmade warranty. Can't justify the extra steps needed for it if needed.

_WILD FACT.. I took the pocket clip off, and it was able to pass through a metal detector no problem!_

It’s not right hand only, it’s ambi because of where the switch is
It would be nice to have the option to have the switch on the other side, which is why I mentioned that way.
@@zachstuffbro you realize it’s a symmetrical knife, it functions the exact same for lefty’s as it does righty’s. Sits in the left or right pocket the same and fires with the left on right hand the exact same.

The Claymore like the Infidel carries Left or Right the same without changing the clip. Clip covers the pocket, button goes against the leg on either side.

Those serrations are wild for a Benchmade, I didn’t expect that.
The cost of these is relatively close to the Infidel that I’d think it’s a hard choice not to just pay the little bit extra for the substantial upgrade in materials, especially if you find an exclusive/limited S30v versions on sale.
Did they ever make the Infidel with serrations?
Cutting Board Reviews did a pull test on the firing of a Infidel vs the Claymore and it’s was a 42% increase in PSI over the Infidel.
Still a fan of the plain edge but those are very interesting serrations.

@@grandmastagrimm8773 The Infidel is really nice, but large. My favorite Benchmade OTF was the Phaeton so I’d probably like the Claymore given their similarities-but I don’t think it’s as nice as the Phaeton.

No safety switch on this one. I carried it all week and it has a long push on the switch, didn't have any trouble with it so far. Thanks for checking it out!
