The excellence of this amp doesn't shine through here. First time I played the CAE OD-100 (which this is a version of) I was properly blown away for the first time in my life. I've played Mesas, Marshalls, Diezel, Peavey, you name it. This amp is in a league of it's own. The smoothness and clarity of the gain is unmatched. If you have the chance to try one, please do (or don't if you don't have the money, you will suffer deep anguish).
Normally don't comment but wanted to say thanks to Rob and Lee for always inspiring me with their insane guitar playing and these amazing demos, much love, stay rad mates
+Rabea Massaad I hope you guys made a video :) don't want to sound like am brown nosing, but your one of the best inspirational guitar players ive come across n youtube.... one more thing dorje needs to come to leeds
I just got a Custom Audio Amplifiers (made by Suhr) OD50 Classic+....Amazing!!! Yes the front is kind of uninspiring to look at BUT the tone counts most & it is just mounstrously good. The only amp I have played that truly does have a superb clean & overdrive channel. The boost is very useful too. In the last 5 years I've owned Fuchs, Bogner, Soldano, H&K, Orange, Mesa Boogie, Laney, Diezel, Marshall but this for me trumps them all. I gigged it the day I got it so I was getting aquainted with it under a bit of pressure & towards the end of the night the tone was so good I kept turning around & smiling at it haha!
I don't what but the sound and Rob playin is all was a treat to inspire guitarist of any age. But for me rob you are one of many inspiration I've ever had Keep Rocking your heart out.
Pete Thorn is an incredible guitar player who does amazing pedal and amp demos.. some of the best I've ever seen. Everyone should check out his channel, if you haven't already.
I'm Canadian, so well aware of Ian. Been listening to him since In Loving Memory back in 97. :) That album, in particular, is a masterpiece. The most recent stuff, since Big Wreck reformed, has been really good too.
Pete Thorn played crazy train in my house on my guitar when he was like 15... I was like holy crap! LOL... glad to see a good old Edmonton boy did good!
I think the amp looks great. Simple, sleek, modern, all black rock n roll backline look. When you take it out of the guitar store and put it on the big stages that Pete plays, it doesn't look cheap or out of place at all
Rob you and Lee are absolutely right about the amp not looking like a top notch model of an amplifier, but the problem isn't that it looks "modern" or what have you: When I first saw the amp at the beginning of the video I 100% thought it was a solid state amp. The controls look exactly like what you'd expect any new solid state amp to look like, and that ain't too cool, Joe.
The famous actor's son was Jason Connery, who played Robin Hood in the 3rd series of Robin of Sherwood. I preferred the actor from the 1st series, who was Michael Praed. The music was by Clannad.Anyway, back to the amp... :)
Rob you should do a lesson on some of the licks you usually like to play on the demo vids, i know personally i would love that haha i find myself picking out licks and watching you play them and learning them from the demos all the time
I agree, it does have the look of a modern solid state or digital amplifier, but the sound is top-notch! I guess we're just so used to seeing this look with lower-end amps that this look has been tinged in a negative way that makes it appear cheap. Hopefully more high-end amplifiers adopt this look so we can get rid of this aesthetic bias.
+Rob Chapman Any plans for a Suhr Corso demo Rob? i would love to hear one with a USA Les Paul standard and a Strat standard USA... Through a 1x12 Suhr cab would be awesome. And if i could get really greedy... Run a Wampler Plexi- Drive deluxe pedal through it... Thanks for your insight on your demos, its much appreciated.
don't know why ... but the amp in this demo just didn't sound all that fantastic to me :P I'm sure it sounds amazing and maybe this demo doesn't do the amp justice haha.
+kasnitch I love Chapman, but I admit there's really something wrong here, about both their equalisation & the TUNING (around the 3 strings in the middle)
+Dorian Clini love these videos as well and also feel the sound is pas toute la or je ne sais quoi compared to many other similar content providers, at least on some videos. Rob and Lee & Bea are great fun to watch. I do think Chris ACT was right about the G tuning being off . Mind, I am partial to my tuning being a bit sharp. Thanks for weighing in, Dorian.
Ed Berger - If you don't understand something, don't comment on it. Poor form. Clearly Thorn wont endorse anything for money. MANY companies have offered Pete cash for reviews, but if he does not believe in the product, he wont review or demo it. But, you know who will? Yup, your guy Chapman, that's who!
I totally can't put my finger to why, but I found the sound of this amp slightly offputting, though for me most american amps do. That said, I would LOVE to have you guys add a little section on the reviews of, especially amplifiers called "how does it sound in a mix?". Just like Glenn does on his SpectreSoundStudios videos, because an amp like this, unless you are a millionaire, you never ever buy for just basement/home use. But none the less, thank you guys, keep doing the great work, great playing and all joyful and love in life
+Aleksi Heikkilä yeah it didnt sound good to me either. maybe that because i have an amp sound preference or it just sounded bad in the recording. but it didnt blow me away.
That was very clever when you touched the back of the amp the light went dim :-) Great amp you can't go wrong with this and Stella Artois is a rubbish drink IMHO
Love that guitar since I saw it on the Andertons channel during top shelf guitars...if only guitars were free...seriously trying get the funds together before it sells.
Nice vid mate, I suhr do like these amps but they're a bit expensive for me. By the way, I haven't heard much from the chapman pedals prototypes... Are they still an idea or did it not work out?
still building the rig always gotta give the evenflow discount because somwday again he'll begin his life again and Anderson's have the next built rig ready to bleed out the next look thats poison set
The second Robin (the blonde Robin) is Sean Connery's son, the first Robin, don't know who his Dad was, sadly I am also old enough to remember this classic series. Good old Clanad
I wish Rob and Capt would come out with some ground breaking, 80's style rock guitars. Ibanez broke the mold back then. It's long over due again. Guitars are stale again. Lets get some new ideas going. We all love the 80's, including Rob. Why not?
Hey Rob, that's a very good amp. Very complete. Could you and Lee review the Grandmeister 36 from Hugues & Kettner wich is great too but cheaper and lighter. It has though a bunch of specs that should please you...
Great video to watch and listen to as always :) I've got one suggestion: since these videos are primarily for LISTENIG of the music equipment, why do you do 50fps videos and limit the guys with lower bandwidth net (like myself) to 720p? Only the 1080p option has good sound quality and I really don't see any reason to do 50fps videos for these kind of reviews. Best wishes and cheers! :)
+Drasko Popovic 50 FPS is the standard in the UK. 60 in the states. what head phones do you use. cause if your not using studio monitoring headphones the quality for you would even matter anyways. your headphones would color the sound to much.
+cody thompson Standard for what? TV? What does that have to do with RUclips? :) As for my listening setup - I'm using AudioTehnica M50x and I own several studio monitors (Dynaudio DBM50 are currently my home speakers). P.S I know you can see that I play cello on my avatar but my job is audio engineering ;) Anyway, there is absolutely no need for higher framerates than 30fps (24 even...) for RUclips clips of audio equipment reviews no matter where in the world you are... Cheers!
+Drasko Popovic North America has NTSC, which is (roughly) 30 fps, and Europe has PAL, which is 25 fps. Newer video cameras can double those frame rates, so US models do 60 and UK do 50. Pretty sure these guys could set their camera to 25 if they wanted, but they probably think it looks nicer at 50. Personally, I think 50 is a little jerky because its out of sync with my monitor (which is 60hz). Also, are you sure 1080 has better audio than 720? Last time I looked into it, all the HD formats used the same 250k AAC audio track.
+Nikolaj Christensen They have a lot of videos to do and they both have other things they have to get to. Changing room conditions mean their guitars will go out of tune while filming and they can't always be bothered to retune. Also it's harder to notice when you're playing than when you're listening so they'd basically have to stop after every little while to check
+Anthony Knight Looks like an SM57 on the left and some kind of a ribbon mic on the right side, I'm guessing sE Electronics R1 'cause it sure looks like one.

i actually did buy a PRS guitar that day!
+Rabea Massaad :0
+Rabea Massaad Which model, or is there a video coming?
+Rabea Massaad I hope you guys made a video :)
don't want to sound like am brown nosing, but your one of the best inspirational guitar players ive come across n youtube....
one more thing dorje needs to come to leeds
please review it on your channel :-P
PRS shopping/shootout video to follow?
Massive clarity in that amp... Sounds great. Sounds best from 3-4 on the volum. Loud, but what a sound....
I just got a Custom Audio Amplifiers (made by Suhr) OD50 Classic+....Amazing!!! Yes the front is kind of uninspiring to look at BUT the tone counts most & it is just mounstrously good. These amps are the shit. Ian Thornley uses them live. AMAZING tones.
Oh fuck yeah ! Someone knows him here !
Big Wreck has one of the best tones I've heard in a while !
I'm Canadian, so well aware of Ian. Been listening to him since In Loving Memory back in 97. :) That album, in particular, is a masterpiece. The most recent stuff, since Big Wreck reformed, has been really good too.
+rcoveyduc Indeed, I really like the new album. Some great guitar work and some killer songs too!
+rcoveyduc Dude, such solid music. So proud to say he's Canadian! Yay Canada! -Southwestern Ontario
Pete Thorn played crazy train in my house on my guitar when he was like 15... I was like holy crap! LOL... glad to see a good old Edmonton boy did good!
Nothing I like more than sitting down with a coffee, bacon sandwich and a Chapper's and Cap. vid. Tuesday made!
You flirt ;)
The Good Guy You flirt ;)
I agree!
Yeah Bro! (Insert Chappers hand thing)
+Joshua Batch cheese merchant
Pete Thorn is an animal on guitar! I'd love to see him come jam with you guys in a video. That'd be cool.
I think the amp looks great. Simple, sleek, modern, all black rock n roll backline look. When you take it out of the guitar store and put it on the big stages that Pete plays, it doesn't look cheap or out of place at all

Rob, has anyone ever told you that you have a flat G string?
Made the video way too distracting for me to enjoy
Glad you sorted out the tuning early in. Clannad did an amazing soundtrack to that Robin of Sherwood series I remember it well.
Don't care what it looks like as long as it sounds and function really well.
I have one and it is easily the best all-around guitar amplifier I have ever played.
hey Rob, i just wanna say that im glad to have found your channel (and subscribed of course) for weekly great videos. Greetings from Argentina!
Are there any Argentinean guitarist channels?
Love Pete Thorn, such a masterful dude.
"Every one is some one's son" Chappers, you crack me up!
White dove could be my favorite riff of all time. Keep makin cool tunes rob :)
Own it, love it! Using a 2X12 cab with two Eminence CV-75s. Great for all styles.
The famous actor's son was Jason Connery, who played Robin Hood in the 3rd series of Robin of Sherwood. I preferred the actor from the 1st series, who was Michael Praed. The music was by Clannad.Anyway, back to the amp... :)
Love you Robbie you go at a
Guitar like a starving man attacks bad curry! A beast he is merry xmas boys
Rob you should do a lesson on some of the licks you usually like to play on the demo vids, i know personally i would love that haha i find myself picking out licks and watching you play them and learning them from the demos all the time
Thats a gorgeous 3d lead tone! it sounds like it's spittin juice !
The way Rob looks at Lee at 5:05 indicates either a huge bromance or a slightly "shut the f*ck up Lee, i'm trying to do my shit" kind of thing.
Ha ha! You guys have such a man crush on Pete Thorn. And I don't blame ya, his youtube channel is amazing.
You can see the moment at 3:27 when Lee moves from cool reviewer to concerned store-owner!
That thing rocks right along with Rob.
loving the video already!
Robs playin be super tasty
Thanks bro :-)
+Rob Chapman Any plans for a Suhr Corso demo Rob? i would love to hear one with a USA Les Paul standard and a Strat standard USA... Through a 1x12 Suhr cab would be awesome. And if i could get really greedy... Run a Wampler Plexi- Drive deluxe pedal through it... Thanks for your insight on your demos, its much appreciated.
Pete Thorn and Andy Wood both recommended that amp via twitter replies and I just love it. Go get one.
+Jack Simmons Agreed sir, or should I say Suhr? No, ok.
WoW!!! Boutique quality tone right f'n there!!!!!!!!
Respect for mentioning Robin of Sherwood!
That guitar and amp really suit your style Rob
don't know why ... but the amp in this demo just didn't sound all that fantastic to me :P I'm sure it sounds amazing and maybe this demo doesn't do the amp justice haha.
+Matthew Lim it sounds just mediocre in this demo. go to Pete's channel and watch him review his amp. that man's tone and playing are impressive.
+kasnitch I love Chapman, but I admit there's really something wrong here, about both their equalisation & the TUNING (around the 3 strings in the middle)

Pete Thorn doctors every video he makes with EQ & trickery ...the guy would endorse anything for money...
Pete Thorn has a pretty awesome youtube channel too.
Looks like a lot of a CAA, and the palette of sounds is pretty similar. From cristal clear to high gain with a pure class flavor.
I remember robin of Sherwood, micheal preade was a fantastic robbin, and a young Ray Winston as Will. it was the origional box set series
At 9.00 mins, white dove is it? Thats the tastiest that riff has sounded to me, tone wise i mean (always liked the riff)
That PRS is amazing and with that amp you can do no wrong....They need to make it like an "amp dolly" with a handle and wheels for portability...
This amp sounds awesome.
Breaking news: Gibson woke up! Looking forward to your 2016 demos of them.
Can we please get a review of the Bogner Ecstasy 101b??? Would love to see how it compares to this amp
Awesome sounding amp. I better get saving.
I wish I got to play half of the guitars and amps you guys get to.
That amp has way more game available on the second channel. Not sure why you guys didn’t get it?
I totally can't put my finger to why, but I found the sound of this amp slightly offputting, though for me most american amps do. That said, I would LOVE to have you guys add a little section on the reviews of, especially amplifiers called "how does it sound in a mix?". Love that guitar since I saw it on the Andertons channel during top shelf guitars...if only guitars were free...seriously trying get the funds together before it sells.
lee looked so pissed when rabea dropped the drumkit
kinda looks like an old CRATE amp I had. looks very solid state
Nice vid mate, I suhr do like these amps but they're a bit expensive for me. By the way, I haven't heard much from the chapman pedals prototypes... Are they still an idea or did it not work out?
haha the captain put on his best "serious boss face" whenever he heard something fall in the other room
I think you guys should do a video on the limited edition competition mustangs. I really want one and there's no videos out there at all.
Lee's face when the drum kit fell was like he was thinking they dropped one of the Gibsons or something xD
I mostly watch the demos for the jokes and for Rob's playing haha. Only thing I've actually watched a demo of and wanted to buy was the Line 6 Helix.
awesome rob your great
Rob: I'm curious to know which amp you prefer, this one or the Silverback? Could you compare these two?
I think everyone wants to be Pete Thorn's friend, Chappers.
Love your vids guys. But please test the amps with single coil type guitars too. Keep up the good work. Cheers.
still building the rig always gotta give the evenflow discount because somwday again he'll begin his life again and Anderson's have the next built rig ready to bleed out the next look thats poison set
Nice playing bro, but a tuner used once in a while is a wonderful thing :D
Hi Rob and Captain Lee
Are you going to do any Suhr guitar demo
Fuck me, this amp sounds good. Also, i really dig Rob's playing in this. He seems a tad bit inspired. In the middle of a songwriting process, mayhaps?
The second Robin (the blonde Robin) is Sean Connery's son, the first Robin, don't know who his Dad was, sadly I am also old enough to remember this classic series. Good old Clanad
I wish Rob and Capt would come out with some ground breaking, 80's style rock guitars. Ibanez broke the mold back then. It's long over due again. Guitars are stale again. Lets get some new ideas going. We all love the 80's, including Rob. Why not?
Because there was a magical time called the 60's!
+jamieHDediting 80's is the new 60's.
Hey Rob, that's a very good amp. Very complete. Could you and Lee review the Grandmeister 36 from Hugues & Kettner wich is great too but cheaper and lighter. It has though a bunch of specs that should please you...
Hey rob Could you do a sound like Alex Lifeson from rush for under $1000
Sick!
Whats the most expensive piece of gear that has ever been accidentally broken at Andertons?
this was not the video i was promised by Lee. he said on facebook we would get a video about some yamaha gear on the 1st. where is that video Mr Lee?
Sounds a bit tubby. Nice solo tone but a little too much boom. Really nice harmonics on held notes.
I think The Captain and Chappers should do a clinic up in North Wales!
out of tune?
when are you coming to Australia rob?
That look on Lee's face when it sounded like something expensive broke.
10:25
You know it's a good tone when Lee's wetting his pants XD
9:42 Dat fiddlin' doe
When Rob busts out some "White Dove" riffage... \m/
3:24 The captain went from stand-by to stand back there for a moment. :^^
Did Rabea get a stern talking to in the cut? :-D
Maybe it's the mix of room mic but there seems to be a lot of noise with this amp. Hiss.
great amp, j just wish a bit more thought went into the look of it..especially considering the price tag..it just doesn't scream out.. BUY ME NOW !!!
The look of the app is subjective, you're right. I have to be honest, I thought the app looked expensive. I prefer the "modernized" look.
Chappers! Would you please tune your guitar? :) Nevertheless, great playing.
Pete Thorn is a straight fckin beast and I'm a gerbil so I know #Biblical #Epicness
Great video to watch and listen to as always :)
I've got one suggestion: since these videos are primarily for LISTENIG of the music equipment, why do you do 50fps videos and limit the guys with lower bandwidth net (like myself) to 720p? Only the 1080p option has good sound quality and I really don't see any reason to do 50fps videos for these kind of reviews.

I agree
Thnks!

Dat tuning tho. Ouch.
+Trevor Beckett Yup. Tuning guitars. It's a thing. A good one at that.
+Trevor Beckett Yep, everything is around half a step low...give or take...lol
Yeah I wonder if Rob doesn't notice or just doesn't care ☺
+Nikolaj Christensen They have a lot of videos to do and they both have other things they have to get to. Changing room conditions mean their guitars will go out of tune while filming and they can't always be bothered to retune. Also it's harder to notice when you're playing than when you're listening so they'd basically have to stop after every little while to check
+Kijiji yeah you are probably right.
What mic is that on the right speaker???
+Anthony Knight Looks like an SM57 on the left and some kind of a ribbon mic on the right side, I'm guessing sE Electronics R1 'cause it sure looks like one.
Here's an idea, have Pete Thorn review the Silverback!
Try hitting the distortion channel with a koko boost reloaded. Magic
As far as the look is concerned, the PT100 is based off all of the Custom Audio Amplifier's looks (which definitely have their own thing), and let's be honest; don't talk about ugly fonts when you put your name on Victory's amps. No offense.
You guys sure like to hear yourself talk. But , still pretty good demos.
Could you do a look at Rickenbacker guitars?
Can we get Rabea buying his PRS on video? Sounds like good content. :)
The tubes are upside down like a fender, with the controls on top like that.
"Everyone is someone son Lee..." haha =)
ROB!? You play Kingdom Rush Origins!? Fav hero? Also...nice amp ;-)
the higher gain stuff sounded really good, but the cleaner things didn't sound very pleasant
cool! another blues tone.... like we can't already dial it on whatever we're already playing with.... :-p
