I was lucky enough to find a used PT100 in my local music store as well bought the matching cab. Got a great deal but even at full price this amp is worth every penny. I have had many different amps over the years but this is by far the best amp I have ever played through. It is not lacking in any aspect. Sounds great loud or even quiet. Great classic sounds as well as modern. You will never need another amp. Absolutely love it. Cheers Pete!
That has a lot of features that you don't often see all in one amp. What's even more cool than usual is that Pete played/explained them all without causing confusion. Love the Standby/Standback switch.
Ladies and Gents, one of the best, if not THE best guitarist around today. Not just in shred, but arrangement and musicality. Pete knows where things 'go'! Reminds me a lot of Andy Timmons in tone, playing, and all around attitude. Great job, Pete! Now, I need a Skype lesson so I can believe someday I'll be worthy of playing the Thornbucker pickup I just bought! lol. Cheers!
+Pete Thorn Pete, could you tell me if you use the clean channel and boost with pedals through this amp when you play live or do you use the dirt channel as well for certain things? I'm seriously considering this amp. I play to around 500+ twice a week and want something with some serious firepower and lately I'm really getting into dirt channels on tube amps
I just want to say how competely stoked I am to own this amp. I've owned and sold lots of boutique amps including the CAA PT-100. I will never let this one go. It's my perfect amp. American clean/British gain - mission accomplished. Thank you, Pete and John !!!
That is really great playing Pete ! Its nice to see demos with someone who is an amazing player ! Love all your demos ! I watch them all ! Great work !
Great sounding amp. Very versatile and dynamic. Sustain on ch 3 is epic. I realize I need to tweak levels on my Laney IRT to see if i can get better sustain before spending money on more pedals. Thanks for the demo. Always learn something new.
Pete you are truly inspiring, I share all your post with my friends and have made all of them true fans. Keep it real. We need more post and how about a new album.
Great video as always, Pete and wow! What a versatile amp, especially the effect loops and return volume for a master gain effect, really does retain the same tonal properties, even at low volume! Great work by you and John!
Great tones for the touring musician who can't afford to sniff a Dumble. Definitely love the fact that you can get those sweet fender tones. I'm buying a new house so I can't afford one at the moment. But it sounds well worth selling some amps in my collection. Great amp if it only had the first channel and the boost. It's kind of like a great range of fender tones - deluxe through blackface, and soldano and high gain tones combined.
This thing is so incredible, my absolute dream amp... Thick, soft and tight lead tone. I want one so bad. That price tag though, I'll never achieve it.
I own the version before this one and I always had a hard time getting channel 1 bright enough. The PT100SE sounds like it has a better clean channel which is brighter and you can get a better mild distortion. I also notice that the tone on ch 2 and 3 is better and with the new mosfet drive it even adds more tonal possibilities. The fx loop on my PT100 drives some of my rack fx too hard when I crank it to 4 or 6 so it looks like that the new SE it was upgraded. What sucks is that I have to sell my old one(which I bought 1 year ago) to buy the new one. Although I like the tones I'm getting from my old PT100 but I prefer how it sounds when using pedals in front of it. With the SE having the mosfet boost is a welcome addition. I also read somewhere that the OT was changed and the tone is more"plexi" like than the old one. Is going to be tough selling my old one for a decent price after the release of the SE so I can replace it with the new one. Bummer!
Hey Pete, I keep coming back to this video because I absolutely love this amp! You will never need another overdrive pedal, as well it's not struggle to play through like some amps. Not a bad tone to be found. I recently purchased a 70's 4x12 with Blackbacks in it and it really does the Marshall thing perfect. The Suhr 2x12 sounds great as well. Worth every penny. Watched a bunch of your Rock Show videos where you were using 2 or 3 of these live and did every style you needed perfect, and looked very cool which is important haha. Just curious if you were running that rig in stereo through 2 amps? Cheers
Classey presentation Pete and very happy to see you have an amp to call you own.. LOL or is that a 'your own to call your amp'!? I'm blessed with a similar style/functioning amp made in Australia. It's important to support local craftsmen and it sounds like John Suhr is a craftsman indeed. Great sounds, nailed that gnarly pushed-clean sound... If you ever come to Australia, I'm happy to let you take my Sherlock amp / local offering, for a spin :)
Hey Pete, could you share your PT-100 settings you typically use? May be picking one up soon and really like the tones you're getting on some of these videos. Thanks!
Hey Pete, insane playing as always!! How well does the G System work with this head using the 4CM? I've been currently using a JVM 205h head through a 4x12 cab with 2 g12t75 and 2 V30 and I've been struggling with the thin sounding tone I'm getting lately and looking for something in the plexi category with the ability for higher gain. I play in a cover band so I need something that is a set it and forget it with channel switching via G system and can play anything from clean to higher gain and everything in between. How do you think this amp would do in my scenario?
Just saw a pic of your board recently. Do you have a AC Tone single on there now? Curious as to how you run it? I have one too and am wondering if we have the same ideas about it. Your new amp sounds killer btw!
Hey Pete, what pickups do you have in your Les Paul? Has your old strat been upgraded with the Thornbucker or are you still running an SSV+ in that? Thanks!
Peter Lacis Actually in that Classic s a SSH, been in there a long time and I think I'll leave it for now because that guitar just always sounds great, why fix i if it ain't broke. In my white Classic S I just had a Thornbucker installed, it sounds great too!
Hey Pete , I own this amp now and love it! Question, Is channel 2 and 3 the same circuit copied with independent gain and level controls? In other words if they are set the same they sound pretty much the same to me. Thx great amp!
hey pete a brief question: using the master volume, is it possible to slave the amp in order to go through an audio interface, or you would break it anyway? i remember the video where you tested the matrix amplification power amps, but i didn't get the way that work precisely! great video as always :)
Genesis11 Guitar Lab Hi, I use the Jan Ray, the Bondi Sick As, the Vemeuram Rage E... a few others... ch1 takes pedals very well, it's a very pedal friendly amp
Jim Lee Jim- I come out of the send on the main head, to my time-based FX on my board and then I come stereo back to both FX returns of both the main amp and the 2nd amp. So on the 2nd amp, just the power amp is utilized.

marcelojulio Hi! It's a bit more "vintage plexi" voiced but with more gain, the old amp was a bit more modern sounding maybe? You would be safe with some Celestion speakers that are rated at say, 65 to 75 watts each. A healthy Super Lead type amp can put out 100 watts plus.... so make sure you have at least 120 watts of power handling...
Rik D Hi Rik- it's a Suhr Standard, mahogany body and neck and maple top, with Thornbuckers- the guys at suhr have a full spec sheet etc if you contact them CS@suhr.com , it's such a cool guitar!
Pete, is there a difference between the "black face" version and the "silver face" version? Got my eyes on a silver face version. Needed to ask before pulling the trigger. Thanks!
A forum post by Pete Thorn: Like the differences between the one Alex has (silver panel) and the new standard model? They are the same, sonically and features-wise. New midnight blue panels and the black switch/knob look are the only changes. American cleans, British hot rod gain, midi, MOSFET boost, etc. All the same! Tone to the bone
The thing that always baffles me is how you run an uber loud 100watt head through 2 25watt greenbacks without blowing the cab? Anyone, a little help? Also... the fiesta red Suhr on the wall behind Pete, never seen him play that one ;-)
Man, some people are just lucky huh? Don't get me wrong, he's a good player, great even, but seriously, great guitar players are a dime a dozen, what was it? Honest question, same with that Phil X guy, just what the hell is so special about them that they get these gigs? Please, don't even start with "you suck, huhu u hu" comments, I'm not talking about myself, but the tons of great guitar players I know who never had this kind of opportunity... Though I have to say I culd hang very nicely with the Phil X guy...
Hi Marvio- honestly, getting gigs is not JUST about playing. You're correct, there's a LOT of great players in the world. off the top of my head, etting gigs is about playing but also about being able to work well with others, being a self starter, being a generally likeable person with good people skills... And it's about showing up, I.E. Moving to and living in a music town/centre like LA or Nashville and making friends and connections so you eventually get the calls to go and audition for gigs. That's my honest answer. I wish you the best of luck with your music and career!
Pete Thorn It's all good man! Thanks for your kind response, like I said, I wasn't even thinking about myself, my boat sailed long ago, plus I was never that good anyway. But like I said I know at the very least a handful of players, not only guitar players, that seem to be stuck in second gear somehow, a couple of these guys are composers too, and I've heard more than a few pieces by them that's really one of the best music I ever heard, but yet... Maybe it's location, like you said, two who come to mind are in Boston, another couple in Brazil, and there's a buddy of mine in Australia, heck, my father in law who lives with me could out arrange most music that's in the top 10 these days, monster jazz dude... All the best to you man!
I was lucky enough to find a used PT100 in my local music store as well bought the matching cab. Got a great deal but even at full price this amp is worth every penny. Hi Jason, I use all 3 channels and I do use overdrives through channel 1 for some alternate drive sounds.
I just want to say how competely stoked I am to own this amp. I've owned and sold lots of boutique amps including the CAA PT-100. I will never let this one go. It's my perfect amp. American clean/British gain - mission accomplished. Thank you, Pete and John !!!
DrProgNerd Thant's awesome! Really glad you are so happy with it.
I have to watch this video every couple months, such a killer amp!! Thanks Pete!!
This is the Demo I have been waiting to see! Thanks!
You are so good ... musically, melodically, technically, all seemingly effortless and natural. The amp sounds great ...
Just got mine a week or so ago (Serial No. 27). It does EVERYTHING well. Best amp I have ever played, it may be worthy of it's namesake!
Steven Familo awesome!
This is one of the greatest amp demo's I've ever seen. Killer job, Mr Thorn.
The best sounding amp I've ever heard. And this guy is so amazing!
Pete, all the best and keep on rockin'!
Wow!! That's one serious amp! What tones!! It''s gotta be the best versatile amp out there bar none!!!
Its really great to watch the explanation of what a piece of gear
will do,great job Pete and thanks.
the loop test... my God. John makes incredible amps.
That clean channel is amazing - great flexibility & range of tones just from #1.
Of course #2 & #3 are also amazing - great work Pete & John
Your solo at the end is incredible, crazy amazing voicing and control. You rock Pete!
Kegan VanSickle thanks man!
Thanks Pete. This is the first demo I've heard listening to your signature amp and year, very versatile and sounds great! :)
That is really great playing Pete ! Its nice to see demos with someone who is an amazing player ! Love all your demos ! I watch them all ! Great work !
Pete, and Marco Sfogli are the kings in my book!
Great sounding amp. Very versatile and dynamic. Sustain on ch 3 is epic. I realize I need to tweak levels on my Laney IRT to see if i can get better sustain before spending money on more pedals. Thanks for the demo. Always learn something new.

Great video as always, Pete and wow! What a versatile amp, especially the effect loops and return volume for a master gain effect, really does retain the same tonal properties, even at low volume! Great work by you and John!
Great video Pete. There are so many killer tones to choose from. I have the amp. It's a super investment. Loads of versatility for the dollars.
Wonderful amp! Super well defined at any gain level. You guys totally nailed it!
Oh man....you are an amazing guitarist! Your videos really educate on how to play and craft tones! Thank you thank you thank you!
Pete that's a phenomenal amp you got there. I hope John makes it in a combo one day!
Always love watching you play! So versatile and clean!!
Fantastic Pete! I just love my PT100SE
Great tones for the touring musician who can't afford to sniff a Dumble. Definitely love the fact that you can get those sweet fender tones. Guitar Heaven! Thanks for sharing another perfect PT demo!
Great work Pete, the amp sounds great. Can't wait to try one out.
mattchurchill thanks!
The intro part is just... AWESOME :D Keep doing these videos Pete ! \m/
great demo pete , and nice playing , you kills
This thing is so incredible, my absolute dream amp... Thick, soft and tight lead tone. I want one so bad. That price tag though, I'll never achieve it.
Ch3 is incredible. Boost takes it over the top!
Simply fantastic. Killer amp as well!
sounds amazing! nice song peter!

That intro is inspirational!

Brian Defusco Thanks Brian!

Great song and video Pete!
Sick sounding amp great demo man
Great tones Pete!
Best all around amp out their . Imho.
Out wheir?
great tones. Ch1 nails the old Fender Twin and the gains are better than old Marshalls. Killer amp.

Julian Langan-Fox Thanks Julian!
Great sounding amp Pete.
Guy Marzello thanks!
Chanel 3 sounds amazingly tight and crunchy. I really can't imagine why any MORE boost is needed via the MOSFET!?
Andy K Really it's not :) It's just an alternate tone- I find I use the boost more on CH2 than anywhere- so I can have 2 levels of 'crunch"
Just killer that mate, awesome. You really need to visit us in the UK, its on the way to Japan....kind of!
Lee McDonald Hi Lee, I miss the UK! My ancestral homeland :) Hope to get back soon!
epic, epic, EPIC TONE!
Great vid. Amp looks geared towards the real world too.
Holy fuck, the les paul solo was fucking epic!
Hey Pete, could you share your PT-100 settings you typically use? May be picking one up soon and really like the tones you're getting on some of these videos. Thanks!
I love my limited PT100!
Simply Amazing, 1:50 awesome man!
What kind of pickups in the 335? They sound so articulate.
This is so amazing, your playing and your tone. What Greenbacks are those? H? M? 55hz?
Hey Pete, insane playing as always!!
How well does the G System work with this head using the 4CM?

Your playing is something else! Could hear you play for ages!
I got one question: isn't 2x25W greenbacks a problem when playing a 100W head?
Not of your not at full volume, also you can switch this amp down to 50 watts that I think he forgot to mention
Hey pete!
Is that the Fractal FX8 in the corner at 1:21? Is there going to be a demo of that soon??
You should bring back the look
Any chance you guys are developing the 50w Channel 1 only version of this amp? Would totally get it!
Hey, it would be useful if the amp had a built-in attenuator or power reducer...Could this be added to any updated model?
Love this guy
Sam Portnoy Thanks Sam love ya too!
Sounds great!
Gotta love him...what les Paul is that ?!
How did you get a 21 fret Suhr Classic? Do they still make these?
Hey Pete , I own this amp now and love it! Question, Is channel 2 and 3 the same circuit copied with independent gain and level controls? In other words if they are set the same they sound pretty much the same to me. Thx great amp!
Terry Goldstein You have to as John but essentially, yes, that was always the idea- 2 sets of gains and masters.
Fantastic Amp Sounds
Cool face Scruff
Rock on Pete👍👍🍻
hey pete a brief question: using the master volume, is it possible to slave the amp in order to go through an audio interface, or you would break it anyway? i remember the video where you tested the matrix amplification power amps, but i didn't get the way that work precisely! great video as always :)
fabrizio peretti No, You'd still need a load box
ok thx ;)
any chance to do a demo of the amp using a dropped tuned guitar?
Awesome tone! Which LP is that?
Hi!! Incredible amp... On your experience... What over/Dist/fuzz pedals work best to put in front of your amp?
Thanks
Genesis11 Guitar Lab Hi, I use the Jan Ray, the Bondi Sick As, the Vemeuram Rage E... a few others... ch1 takes pedals very well, it's a very pedal friendly amp
does the preamp in this head have any similarities to the CAE 3+ ?
Amazing dude!
Hi Pete great video. Heads up, your website says you only have 10,000 subscribers on the videos page. Needs updating to 42,000 : )
Adam James Rogers Ha! Thanks for that heads up Adam I have to stay on top of updating that stuff! :)
Pete, in your live rig, is the 2nd PT100SE a back-up? How are you using it? thanks
Jim Lee Jim- I come out of the send on the main head, to my time-based FX on my board and then I come stereo back to both FX returns of both the main amp and the 2nd amp. So on the 2nd amp, just the power amp is utilized.
Hi Pete !
Let me ask a question.
What is the difference between this version and previous CAA?
You probably already must be tired of answering that question (Forgive me the annoyance), however I have not seen anything about the differences between the amplifiers.
marcelojulio Hi! It's a bit more "vintage plexi" voiced but with more gain, the old amp was a bit more modern sounding maybe? We changed the voicing of ch1 and 2, used a different output transformer... also made the eq real tuneable and the amp really responds and works great with many different speaker cabs. I felt the older one worked best with Greenbacks but V30's could be a little piercing- now you can really dial it in to whatever you've got. The fx loop is John's latest design, and the boost is all new (mosfet now and sounds totally different and can be used on all 3 channels. The amp is now midi with a great included footswitch. I think that covers it!
Whoa !
Many thanks to attention Pete Thorn
How easy is this amp to Bias? Do you have to take it out of the chassis or can you do it from outside the amp.....
Both of the 2x12 cabs you mentioned (Dividedby13 and Suhr) go well with a 100w amp? I've been thinking about getting a Super Lead style head (with master volume) and some sort of 2x12 cab, but I'm having a hard time researching a cab that will sound good and not blow up from the wattage.
You would be safe with some Celestion speakers that are rated at say, 65 to 75 watts each. A healthy Super Lead type amp can put out 100 watts plus.... so make sure you have at least 120 watts of power handling...
Amazing amp, amazing player! Would love to know what model Suhr guitar is that black, 2 nickel humbucker that he shows on the video at 7:56. Love it.
Rik D Hi Rik- it's a Suhr Standard, mahogany body and neck and maple top, with Thornbuckers- the guys at suhr have a full spec sheet etc if you contact them CS@suhr.com , it's such a cool guitar!
Pete Thorn Thanks for taking time off to reply, Pete. Thanks for the info. That's probably one of my favorite Suhrs.
I want this amp!!!!
Thx for this Video. Very cool ! i love it.
10:38 Pete remembers why he started playing guitar all those years ago......
What verb and echo are you using through the loop??
Pete, is there a difference between the "black face" version and the "silver face" version? Got my eyes on a silver face version. Needed to ask before pulling the trigger. Thanks!
A forum post by Pete Thorn: Like the differences between the one Alex has (silver panel) and the new standard model? They are the same, sonically and features-wise.
