That's why I don't like most One Piece movies, I feel like they're often a wasted opportunity to tell a more interesting/relevant/canon story for the sake of fanservice... it doesn't have to be canon but at least make it a focused story not overflowing with random cameos or characters that end up having tiny roles.
Toei doesn't want to take such a risk as making a One Piece movie that doesn't have the main characters in it. Though Ace is himself massively popular (still a regular top 10 in the popularity polls more than a decade after his death), so a movie staring him would probably still be successful.
There’s another layer to all of this. Caesar blew up punk hazard 4 years before the present story, and returned to punk hazard 3 years ago. Additionally, in the pre-timeskip era, Doflamingo’s smile production is clearly a relatively recent thing. The timelines match up nicely, Smiles, and potentially also Doflamingo himself, were brought in as replacements for Hanafuda’s ancient zoan supply.
Add to the thoery: Hanafuda is Ulti and Page one father. In the sps it stated that they were the children of poweful pirate and close friend to Kaido (fans though the father might be a rocks pirate). And Ulti and Page one eat their fruits at young age to be useful to Kaido (where are 2 kids gonna find rare devil fruits in the new world?)
Imagine Crocodile invites Hanafuda to join Cross Guild and he actually accepts it. Would be a nice way of introducing him into the story without slowing down the plot at all.
Hanafuda also seemed to be set up early on. The 7 warlords were based off of the 7 heroes from romancing saga 2. The spot Kuma occupied seemed not to gel because Dantarg was a dinosaur man that wanted to assimilate more monsters to get even stronger. Hanafuda's existence now makes sense.
Dont think that Hanafuda is the man with the burned scars, think its gonna be someone with more plot importance despite Hanafuda supplying Kaido years prior. Instead, i think this will be something we see in the Ace manga, something like Ace's 'Crocodile defeat' moment ala Luffy.

Hanafuda was a warlord so he had connections to the gov already and after he got defeated by Ace maybe he went into hiding and maybe he already had the poneglyph without the gov knowing. I think in a meta story writing sense, Hanafuda *was* the original Kaido. Back before Oda invented the Warlords Luffy was going to go into the new world and immediately fight the Emperors (remember the story wasn't intended to be this long). Hanafuda then is essentially the lower level version of Kaido that would have existed in this shorter timeline. As the story progressed and what Kaido would have to be escalated, Oda developed the Kaido we know now, but he still had this old design kicking around, and used it for this SBS question.

I think Hanafuda will return is Elbaf…. As the Man Marked by Flame. I have 3 reasons to support this claim. 1. He fought, and lost to Ace. That’s where he got marked. 2. There is thematic symmetry for a T-Rex Zoan user to be present during the Elbaf, as an homage to Little Garden. 3. He would had connections in New World and would probably had an opportunity to take the last Poneglyph when nobody was looking.

A fun fact, a recent study examining all the recovered T Rex fossils suggests T Rex could have gotten 50% larger than the largest individual found thus far. For context, the largest T Rex, Scotty, is around 13m long and 4m at the hip and the potential largest individuals could be as big as 15m. That along with having among the most powerful bites of any vertebrate and super keen sense makes T Rex’s title of King of the Lizards still very deserving.
What if he had the dark dark fruit and was stealing devil fruit abilities and putting them into fruits? When Ace killed him, his fruit then became free, and it allowed for Thatch to find it.
Given that Ace defeated Hanafuda this can't be true that he (Hanafuda) had the dark dark fruit. In the battle between Ace and Blackbeard we clearly saw that Ace was helpless against Blackbeard's abilities. There is no way that Ace previously fought and defeated the same ability user.

There is an extra layer to that. Ulti and Page One are told to be the children of an pirate that was afiliated with Kaido, and that Kaido decided to take care of those two after this associate was killed. So it's not impossible that Ulti and Page One are the children of Hanafuda.

It's also interesting that Ace's bounty was 550 Million. Perhaps that's the bounty he got after beating Hanafuda which backs up the idea that Ace was pretty much at the same point in his progression as post-Dressrosa Luffy before getting derailed by Whitebeard then dying at Marineford.

Morj is right. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't waiting for a trex user in kaidos crewbut I don't think ace beat him at wano. I think Ace battling him is the whole reason ace went to wano. He may have found out about the human trafficking, as that may have been the price in exchange for ancient zoan fruits. Or just simply learning where to find an emperor through defeating Hanafuda

As many are are saying, he is a likely option for the man marked by flames. I'd like to add however that with the introduction of Hanafuda there are now 7 "antagonist" shichibukai open to potentially complete Cross Guild. Buggy, Crocodile, Mihawk, Doflamingo, Weevil, Moriah and now Hanafuda.

It is literally impossible for them to have been kids at the time after Ace beat Hanafuda since that is four years before we see them in the CANON, they would not be kids anymore by then, more teenagers really
I think Hanafuda was one of the subordinates of Kaidou before Jack. Because in ODen flashback we see 3 subordinates of Kaidou, and Jack is far too young to be there. So I think Hanafuda became a warlord and quit his position so that he can become a spy for Kaidou. Jack took his place and replaced him.
My Headkanon: The defeat of Hanafuba oppened the possition as Kaidos supplyer and that's what Don Flammingo made the great underworld boss, as we know him. Heak, maybe Hanafuba was formerly known as Joker! But when ACE defeat him, Doffy saw his opportunity and made Kaido the offer to not bring quality, but quantity and slipt in, in Hanafubas role. Maybe he even orchestrated the whole meetup. between Hanafuba and ACE, from the shadows!
Great video but I’m confused about one thing, how you are assuming this guy was killing and taking these devil fruits. As far as we know black beard is the only one who can actually take a devil fruit from a body, and theories suggest that this is based on his unique physicality or genetics. I suppose hanafuda could be killing the devil fruit users and then tracking down where the fruit would respawn, so to speak, but that seems a lot more complex than what you suggest in this video
If it’s so happens that he actually was selling them to Kaido that means that that drunk, insane bastard actually respected the man enough to not outright steal them from him much less that Tyrannosaurus fruit since it would be so rare. And considering we haven’t heard anything about the man since that point is probably still hunting fruits or is just that powerful because after he got kicked out of the warlords, he wouldn’t have the protection and blanket immunity gave him the ability to go hunting.
Realizing how powerful this guy was, and the fact that Ace beat him, recontextualizes a lot of shit. Pre timeskip Blackbeard was even stronger than even a top tier new world villain
I've seen one of the comments here saying that hanafuda is the original kaido and to some extent i agree with that cuz he's quite literally "the king of the lizards" so it would only makes sense if he's the captain to the beast pirates that has a bunch of dinasaur memebers to it but im glad it was the big and menacing kaido that we got instead of a doflamingo body type 2.0 as a yonko.
To be honest, if Oda wanted to, he has so many side characters that he could make stories off of. Ace, Roger, Rocks, Garp, and much more I can’t think about right now. Guys, help me out.
I am satisfied to know that there was a T-Rex Zoan in the story and glad that Oda didn’t forget about it (which in hindsight is clearly impossible), but pissed that we didn’t and likely won’t ever see the user and the fruit himself within the manga. Oh well. Maybe in a future spinoff manga. 🤷🏻
My theory is that he was a former Beast Pirate, maybe the Calamity before Jack since he's much younger than King and Queen. We know he was collecting ancient zoan fruits, but he could have had one himself. My bet is his was the T.Rex.

Great video bro but a slight point I don’t think they fought on Wano. I think after Ace’s visit, when Kaido came back and saw the damage he did, both materialistic and Psychological (good for Yamato but bad in Kaido’s eyes). Then he either sent Hanafuda or Hanafuda heard and went after Ace himself and then they fought. Cause it doesn’t make sense that Hanafuda was there when Kaido wasn’t.
T-Rex is still the biggest carnivore on land. At least when you compare weight. There are some who are taller, or longer, but not heavier. Weight is much better indicator for actual size than anything else. The only ones close in weight are the Spino and the Giganotosaurus. The estimations of Size and weight are up to change with every new skeleton found.

Given that Ace defeated Hanafuda this can't be true that he (Hanafuda) had the dark dark fruit. In the battle between Ace and Blackbeard we clearly saw that Ace was helpless against Blackbeard's abilities. There is no way that Ace previously fought and defeated the same ability user.

We get arc fatigue because one piece arcs spend way too much time things we already know or things that aren’t important.
There is an extra layer to that.
Ulti and Page One are told to be the children of an pirate that was afiliated with Kaido, and that Kaido decided to take care of those two after this associate was killed.
So it's not impossible that Ulti and Page One are the children of Hanafuda.

It's also interesting that Ace's bounty was 550 Million. Perhaps that's the bounty he got after beating Hanafuda which backs up the idea that Ace was pretty much at the same point in his progression as post-Dressrosa Luffy before getting derailed by Whitebeard then dying at Marineford.

I’m fairly sure that the “man with the burn scar” is this mysterious warlord that ace defeated. If he was able to procure ancient zoan fruits, it wouldn’t be out of the question that he was also able to grab the last Rio Poneglyph!
The kusarigama that he fights with is a distinctly historical Japanese weapon. That along with his Japanese name (Hanafuda) makes me suspect he is a Wano native.

I think Ace battling him is the whole reason ace went to wano. He may have found out about the human trafficking, as that may have been the price in exchange for ancient zoan fruits. Or just simply learning where to find an emperor through defeating Hanafuda

Ace wasn't weak by any means. If you think about who he took his losses to, they were all heavy hitters. World's strongest man, future emperor, and an admiral. And he held his own against blackbeard despite blackbeard being able to cancel out his devil fruit abilities.

Hanafuda was the gatekeeper before Doffy. Kaido like Big Mom with Loki would have been goated with this guy still around. Ace saved Luffy 5x over that's how you do plot armor.

As many are are saying, he is a likely option for the man marked by flames. I'd like to add however that with the introduction of Hanafuda there are now 7 "antagonist" shichibukai open to potentially complete Cross Guild. Buggy, Crocodile, Mihawk, Doflamingo, Weevil, Moriah and now Hanafuda.

It makes more sense then for it to be a trade agreement with Kaido considering how Page One and Ulti got their fruits by stealing them from a stash Kaido had when the two were KIDS. It is literally impossible for them to have been kids at the time after Ace beat Hanafuda since that is four years before we see them in the CANON, they would not be kids anymore by then, more teenagers really

I think Hanafuda was one of the subordinates of Kaidou before Jack. Because in ODen flashback we see 3 subordinates of Kaidou, and Jack is far too young to be there.
So I think Hanafuda became a warlord and quit his position so that he can become a spy for Kaidou. Jack took his place and replaced him.
Also, if you dont believe Morj and the great connections... just look at Hanafuda's hat. It's literally a slightly elongated T-Rex Head Bone/fossil.😂

My Headkanon:
The defeat of Hanafuba oppened the possition as Kaidos supplyer and that's what Don Flammingo made the great underworld boss, as we know him. Heak, maybe Hanafuba was formerly known as Joker! But when ACE defeat him, Doffy saw his opportunity and made Kaido the offer to not bring quality, but quantity and slipt in, in Hanafubas role. Maybe he even orchestrated the whole meetup. between Hanafuba and ACE, from the shadows!
Great video but I’m confused about one thing, how you are assuming this guy was killing and taking these devil fruits. As far as we know black beard is the only one who can actually take a devil fruit from a body, and theories suggest that this is based on his unique physicality or genetics. I suppose hanafuda could be killing the devil fruit users and then tracking down where the fruit would respawn, so to speak, but that seems a lot more complex than what you suggest in this video

If it’s so happens that he actually was selling them to Kaido that means that that drunk, insane bastard actually respected the man enough to not outright steal them from him much less that Tyrannosaurus fruit since it would be so rare. And considering we haven’t heard anything about the man since that point is probably still hunting fruits or is just that powerful because after he got kicked out of the warlords, he wouldn’t have the protection and blanket immunity gave him the ability to go hunting.
Realizing how powerful this guy was, and the fact that Ace beat him, recontextualizes a lot of shit. Pre timeskip Blackbeard was even stronger than even a top tier new world villain

I've seen one of the comments here saying that hanafuda is the original kaido and to some extent i agree with that cuz he's quite literally "the king of the lizards" so it would only makes sense if he's the captain to the beast pirates that has a bunch of dinasaur memebers to it but im glad it was the big and menacing kaido that we got instead of a doflamingo body type 2.0 as a yonko.
I think Hanafuda ended up being one of Wang Zhi's commanders on Beehive Island and fought during the Rocky Port incident.
To be honest, if Oda wanted to, he has so many side characters that he could make stories off of. Ace, Roger, Rocks, Garp, and much more I can’t think about right now. Guys, help me out.
I am satisfied to know that there was a T-Rex Zoan in the story and glad that Oda didn’t forget about it (which in hindsight is clearly impossible), but pissed that we didn’t and likely won’t ever see the user and the fruit himself within the manga.

My theory is that he was a former Beast Pirate, maybe the Calamity before Jack since he's much younger than King and Queen. We know he was collecting ancient zoan fruits, but he could have had one himself. My bet is his was the T.Rex.

Great video bro but a slight point I don’t think they fought on Wano. I think after Ace’s visit, when Kaido came back and saw the damage he did, both materialistic and Psychological (good for Yamato but bad in Kaido’s eyes). Then he either sent Hanafuda or Hanafuda heard and went after Ace himself and then they fought. Cause it doesn’t make sense that Hanafuda was there when Kaido wasn’t.
T-Rex is still the biggest carnivore on land. At least when you compare weight. There are some who are taller, or longer, but not heavier. Weight is much better indicator for actual size than anything else.
The only ones close in weight are the Spino and the Giganotosaurus. The estimations of Size and weight are up to change with every new skeleton found.
