This may not be the end of his dream but from what he said that’s his dream for now.

Perhaps being a nation recognised by the WG makes doing certain things much easier. An actual King is unlikely to be chased around the world by the WG, he can move around the Grand Line without having to worry about Seraphim or Admirals plus he'd have leverage to use the WGs resources to help him in his ends, whatever they are. His vision of the new era is unique. He is willing to try and cooperate with anyone, even if their ultimate goals are ultimately incompatible, so long as their roads align temporarily.

blackbeard being a dream eater when he's the guy who doesn't sleep is narratively fitting and poetic. taking in so many devil fruits would be the perfect way for him to lose, and an inverse to nightmare luffy (luffy took in the shadows, bb's shadow takes in everyone's light) and what fits so perfectly with this is that i've always thought that BB's end would be in drowning, dying in the deep darkness of the sea. having multiple devil fruit powers would mean he'd become so powerless in the sea, and his darkness fruit would amplify the pain, which i think would be a perfect and fitting end for BB
I want the identification manual to be a real thing, like merch or something that shows us what all the devil fruits we haven't seen yet look like, maybe some that haven't appeared in the story even etc.

When you sit back and think you do realize how monstrous that is that you can still live and never sleep. Becuase normal humans literally need sleep to recover to full health. I have a relatively weak, but still somewhat plausible, explanation for how BB could expect his crew to awaken so quickly after getting their fruits. If we look at them, the big one gets the giant fruit, the strong one gets the strength fruit, and the sick one gets the sick fruit. They got fruits that already line up well with what they are. If we go based off the notion that fruits awaken when their user's body and mind catch up to their fruit, then these three don't have far to go to catch up since they already are so specialized in what their fruit is about. Unfortunately, this doesn't hold up so well for many of the other crew members from what we know about them so far. An argument can be made, but idk how strong of one
I feel like all that matched up with all of blackbeards knowledge of devil fruits makes it even easier then. Since most people seem to just eat them without knowing wtf they do or are, a specific understanding of the fruits nature would help you align with it even quicker.
People like to point at Hody Jones as being a bad villain, but thematically, I think he is so so important not just for his arc but for foreshadowing and understanding the three big bads of the series: Blackbeard, Akainu, and Imu. Blackbeard is an empty man, a VOID man, a man unable to dream for himself. This is literally Hody - a Fishman whose entire existence is dedicated to the dream of destroying humans, not out of a personal grudge, but the cultural grudge he's adopted/stolen from others. Fukuboshi even climactically reveals that "Hody is entirely empty... There is so substance within him". Akainu on the other hand, likely has a very good reason for despising pirates so much. His zealotism and hatred is probably earned, yet it is the same unreasonable, blind hatred that Hody demonstrates in Fishman Island. Hody killing any Fishman who sides with humans perfectly mirrors Akainu's brutal willingness to kill any Marine or innocent life that even remotely aides Pirates. Finally, we have Imu, and while the least is known about Imu, I'd wager that the struggle between races we see take place in Fishman Island, the strange all-white transformation Hody becomes resembling Gear-5, and the "betrayal of his own kind" that Hody commits by killing Otohime, will all factor heavily into Imu's plotline.
This is a great theory. You made a point at the end about Blackbeard wanted to protect everyones dream by taking it onto himself. That would make perfect sense as to why he is seen as a "they" as well.
The Dark Dark fruit could actually be a God fruit just like Luffy's, Zoan fruits are the ones that search for their users. You can make a pretty good argument about Buggy also having a God fruit, since he never intended to eat it but the fruit had other plans

My favorite "nothing happened" theory is that since Luffy woke up after the fight fully refreshed with his friends telling him 'literally nothing happened' Luffy's imagination then led him to believe that's how his body recovers damage after a small 30 min nap.

A minor detail but at 3.55 since we sleep for 1/3 of the day , or at least we should be , then blackbeard would have the experience of roughly an 52 year old , or less because most people dont sleep 8 hours or more , not a 78 old . Great video and very interesting ideas thrown though

I've always said that whenevr we find out what Luffy's dream is, the Jaya quote will definitely come back around and hit us like a truck, or rather a Gura fist to the face, and just like how blackbeard took it to understand the power before stealing it, we will have to taoe the whiplash of forshadowing before truly understanding what Oda is cooking. Whether it be though Dream Eating or though some Punk Records Joyboy Memory madness, that line has a more literal element to it which is why I sense a "I am the future flash" esque moment on the way soon.
I like the idea that Blackbeard cancels memories to take devil fruit powers away from its user. This notion also aligns with Vegapunk experimenting on Kuma and being able to produce artificial devil fruits. Perhaps he learned how Kuma physically manifest memories to extract users' memories about devil fruits they have eaten. We know Vegapunk can replicate devil fruits (i.e., memories) without the user being dead (similar to what Kuma did with Luffy in Thriller Bark). If this is true, when Blackbeard says his devil fruit can absorb pain, he actually means his devil fruits can absorb memories (which contain [mostly] pain as most flash-back we have seen so far are sad and filled with pain).
I have this feeling that blackbeard will be able transfer DF powers from a DF user to a regular fruit, turning it to a DF and without killin the user. He will have this ability after awakening his powers. With this, he can shuffle the DF powers of his crew and/or use it as a business to gain wealth.
Really good video i only missed Fukuro when talking about Blackbeard absorbing the pain to powerscale/ understand his crew and opponents. Fukuro could powerscale all of CP9 by getting kicked. It's also logical why Blackbeard did not let himself get kicked by Boa he was afraid to take the gamble. Boa's power effectivly blocks all electrical signals in the bodypart she turns to stone.
That was the whole reason blackbeard waited so long and killed his fellow crew member for that specific devil fruit because the awakened ability of negating the soul binding of the fruit there by allowing multiple devils into one body

This video made me realize a power of the darkness fruit. 1. It lets you do the impossible, and know what is in the hearts of others, particularly the darkness that resides in them. 2. It lets you understand how darkness shapes their minds, creating their "fate". 3. Like with celestial bodies, it helps you plot out their courses in the future, even in a complex world. 4. This is why Blackbeard has difficulty predicting Luffy, because he has so much light to conquer his own darkness with.

I think the perfect final battle would be Luffy vs Blackbeard on Laugh Tale. Luffy using the imagination aspect of his power to emulate the abilities and techniques of all the allies and foes he's fought against/alongside, symbolizing his entire journey and the ambitions and dreams of everyone he's met on the way. While Teach absorbs his crew into his darkness physically absorbing their ambitions and powers into himself, the product of his hard work and scheming finally coming into throughition. One who nurtures ambition and the other who cultivates it.

Overall I liked the vibe of this video. I definitely think Blackbeard's focus on devil fruits and his greed will feed into his defeat somehow- falling into the sea and having no one who can save him would be great. I also like the idea of Blackbeard turning on his crew. I'd never considered it but the theme of the bonds between straw hats is something I just know Teech lacks- plus Belo Betty said as much in her introduction to Momobeard
It would also make sense why Kaido's crew wasn't full with awakened users. If Oda is planning on BB being a crew full of awakened users, and has a reveal moment in mind. Even though Kaido's crew is zoan users, having a bunch of awakened users in previous arcs before the fight with BB might make it a little more underwhelming than Oda wants. Also all this dream talk makes me think of that reddit post that claimed the final battle will be Luffy and Blackbeard in a "dream world" which if there is any credit to it, maybe that is tied in with BB's dream and in such a state or world he can access everyone's dreams and use them how he pleases.

If you consider the fact that Rocks D Xebec's also gathered a crew of very strong individuals which didn't really work together or had a bond with each other, with the sole purpose to also consume them in the long run. That would also draw a parallel to Garp + Roger vs Rock's and Ruffy (+ Coby?) vs Blackbear. That would make Ruffy the reincarnation of Roger who was too early, and Blackbeard as Xebecs, who also didn't quite manage to consume his crew, so maybe the second god valley accident will be the true god valley accident with Ruffy being just in time and not too early and blackbeard managing to consume his crew. Although it would be quite weird that Garp etc. didn't recognize Blackbeards dark fruit as Xebec's fruit at Marineford.
I think its extremely likely that Blackbeard, like Kuma, is part Buccaneer which would partly explain why his body functions differently from normal humans

Luffy is the sun, while those who grow towards him represent various sorts of plants and trees. These aren't forced towards the sun, but grow towards it ALSO, smiling back as the sun smiles down at them. They look up not only with a smile, but with their hands lifted up in thankfulness, a from of praise. The sun liberates from from darkness by reaching down with its warm rays, and life reaches back Blackbeard, on the other hand, oppresses life by keep it in darkness, away from the light. He weighs down life with a heaviness that forces it to bow in submission, just as a plant that is thirsty and without sun bows itself due to stress. It's forced or inverted praise. Laughter and smile is how the sun is praised, while misery and sadness is how the darkness receives its praise. It's the similar contrast between blackbeard and Luffy. Look how Luffy treats his crew, vs how Blackbeard treats his? Luffy allows Sanji and Usopp to beat the crap out of him because he can't hurt his crew... his friends, nor does he want them to turn away from him in the burden of suffering. Blackbeard, though, rides Doc Q and overburdens Stronger, both are suffering and their Captain is laughing. Their suffering is feasted on by the darkness, as that is its praise, that's its purpose. The sun's praise was having his friends turn back towards him, their light.
This is like Infinite Tsukoyumi in Naruto except the plan was to create a peaceful world where everyone becomes a robot whereas here it's to allow everyone to dream endlessly, who knows how so that he can remain at the top.

It makes so much sense that even in the opposite parallel between luffy and teech that his fruit didn’t end up in his hand. Luffys is a fruit of kindness and liberation, of course the fruit would go to no one but him. Teech however, his is a fruit of darkness, inherently evil, he wants to rule over and oppress the world. I feel that fruit would test whoever it deems worthy. It was put in the hands of a close comrade, and teech passed the test by killing his brother for what he’s desired this whole time. No qualms whatsoever of murdering thatch, this was his goal the whole time.

Its a pretty easy concept that the apple would be a fruit used for memories and storing information since devil fruits are scene as forbidden items and the aptly named devil fruit ties back to the idea of the Forbiden fruit from the tree of knowledge that Adam and eve partake which is a pretty good parallel to how the WG will strike down anything to do with forbidden knowledge.

The reason why Blackbeard is a better end villain than Imu is because, as you said, he can potentially absorb all powers. If Imu has some power, then Blackbeard can steal it.
According to this theory, there's no limit to how many devil fruits blackbeard can take. And he would have his crew developp devil fruits and their awakening just so that he can take them all in the end. In that case, Imu won't be the final villain. I could even see Imu get 1-hit by Blackbeard. That would make an amazing climax with Blackbeard being the final vilain of One Piece, which would require an entire war with all characters making an alliance together with Luffy to fight him, and the only possible way to get rid of him would be to send him to the depths of the ocean.

Perhaps there was a choice offered by Blackbeard to Thatch that we may see in a flashback in the future, however, as of right now it seems like Blackbeard just took it.

I really like this analysis of Blackbeard and his crew vs Luffy's crew's ideology and themes. I like how you used their characterization, personality, motivations, & backstory (Oda's writing) to predict future actions or current abilities rather than the surface level "well this person's hair matches this shape so that means theyre connected totally" (Oda's drawing) like i see so many other theorists do. Not saying those are bad, but i really like seeing a unique take like yours. - One point you mentioned how Blackbeard may be farming his own crew to get them all awakened and consume them all in the end to become a literal god, is a legit scary idea. Reminds me a bit of the Reapers from Mass Effect, consuming all life once its reached a peak. I wonder how his crewmates will take it or if they're already on board with it. - One thing you said was that the Darkness fruit might have the power to suck in memories, so now I'm wondering if an awakened Darkness fruit could have been used to suck away everyone's memories of the void century and what it would mean if Blackbeard could do that now - I wonder if Blackbeard's "never sleeping" is based on the real life genetic mutation that allows one to function normally on only a few hours of sleep (like 4? or less).
According to VegaPunk, the devil fruits are a manifestation of someone’s wish. The Devil Fruits can be said to affect the soul more than it affects the body, this would be the only way to explain why Luffy remains rubbery even while submerged, the body is feeling the shock before the soul thereby allowing the soul to maintain the power within the body. Brook’s fruit power can reinforce this considering how the soul is what manifests the power rather than the body. The soul left the body as per the laws of nature but due to the Devil Fruit’s influence it left a beacon for the soul to find its body and re enter. However considering the fog that his body was trapped in, his soul couldn’t get back in time to prevent his body from aging. It could be possible that because his soul was gone, his body did not have the immortality aspect of his fruit’s power and that’s why his body decomposed. Moria’s fruit allows him to interfere directly with a shadow, if your theory about the body, soul and shadow having separate portions of a whole is correct, this would also explain why experiences and memories are transferred through the shadow but not the power. Otherwise the transfer of the shadow would also transfer Devil fruit powers if at least in an imperfect form. Considering how Devil fruits allow a person to manifest an aspect of nature (light, fire, rubber, smoothness etc.) it can also be said that several fruits can achieve the same functions depending on how a person applies its power. As an example, Katakuri and Luffy are essentially using the same form of power which is having a pliable body. The only difference they had was the power of their Hakki. In this same mind set, Moria’s shadow abilities could essentially do the same as BlackBeard’s abilities however it can’t take away powers possibly due to the Shadow fruit’s power not being awakened yet. Considering how a person who lost their shadow can still retain their powers since (considering my theory still holds) the power is tied to the soul and not the body, it would only mean that upon awakening, Moria can pull more than just the shadow of the body, but also the shadow of the soul. One thing I have noticed is that aside from folk tales, Oda also likes to include superstitions and old wives tales with certain abilities, having a big head means you have a big brain or something similar. “Just a shadow of his former self” is the saying I was getting at, considering how powerless a person becomes after giving their shadows taken as well as how vulnerable they become as a result.
this was great to read through! and I agree. great synthesis and response. it will be crazy if oda follows through in this path or if he adds a few more elements that warp the future of how this all works. so far this theory logic basis seems sound enough to overlay on the future for the time being from my standpoint.

Perhaps being a nation recognised by the WG makes doing certain things much easier. An actual King is unlikely to be chased around the world by the WG, he can move around the Grand Line without having to worry about Seraphim or Admirals plus he'd have leverage to use the WGs resources to help him in his ends, whatever they are. His vision of the new era is unique. He is willing to try and cooperate with anyone, even if their ultimate goals are ultimately incompatible, so long as their roads align temporarily.

and what fits so perfectly with this is that i've always thought that BB's end would be in drowning, dying in the deep darkness of the sea. having multiple devil fruit powers would mean he'd become so powerless in the sea, and his darkness fruit would amplify the pain, which i think would be a perfect and fitting end for BB

I have a relatively weak, but still somewhat plausible, explanation for how BB could expect his crew to awaken so quickly after getting their fruits. If we look at them, the big one gets the giant fruit, the strong one gets the strength fruit, and the sick one gets the sick fruit. They got fruits that already line up well with what they are. If we go based off the notion that fruits awaken when their user's body and mind catch up to their fruit, then these three don't have far to go to catch up since they already are so specialized in what their fruit is about. Unfortunately, this doesn't hold up so well for many of the other crew members from what we know about them so far. An argument can be made, but idk how strong of one

I feel like all that matched up with all of blackbeards knowledge of devil fruits makes it even easier then. Since most people seem to just eat them without knowing wtf they do or are, a specific understanding of the fruits nature would help you align with it even quicker.

People like to point at Hody Jones as being a bad villain, but thematically, I think he is so so important not just for his arc but for foreshadowing and understanding the three big bads of the series: Blackbeard, Akainu, and Imu.
Blackbeard is an empty man, a VOID man, a man unable to dream for himself. This is literally Hody - a Fishman whose entire existence is dedicated to the dream of destroying humans, not out of a personal grudge, but the cultural grudge he's adopted/stolen from others. Fukuboshi even climactically reveals that "Hody is entirely empty... There is so substance within him".
Akainu on the other hand, likely has a very good reason for despising pirates so much. His zealotism and hatred is probably earned, yet it is the same unreasonable, blind hatred that Hody demonstrates in Fishman Island. Hody killing any Fishman who sides with humans perfectly mirrors Akainu's brutal willingness to kill any Marine or innocent life that even remotely aides Pirates.
Finally, we have Imu, and while the least is known about Imu, I'd wager that the struggle between races we see take place in Fishman Island, the strange all-white transformation Hody becomes resembling Gear-5, and the "betrayal of his own kind" that Hody commits by killing Otohime, will all factor heavily into Imu's plotline.

I've always said that whenevr we find out what Luffy's dream is, the Jaya quote will definitely come back around and hit us like a truck, or rather a Gura fist to the face, and just like how blackbeard took it to understand the power before stealing it, we will have to taoe the whiplash of forshadowing before truly understanding what Oda is cooking. Whether it be though Dream Eating or though some Punk Records Joyboy Memory madness, that line has a more literal element to it which is why I sense a "I am the future flash" esque moment on the way soon.
Luffy can take inhuman amounts of pain.... Teach feels pain more than normal humans another side of the coins spins.....
I like the idea that Blackbeard cancels memories to take devil fruit powers away from its user. This notion also aligns with Vegapunk experimenting on Kuma and being able to produce artificial devil fruits. Perhaps he learned how Kuma physically manifest memories to extract users' memories about devil fruits they have eaten. We know Vegapunk can replicate devil fruits (i.e., memories) without the user being dead (similar to what Kuma did with Luffy in Thriller Bark). If this is true, when Blackbeard says his devil fruit can absorb pain, he actually means his devil fruits can absorb memories (which contain [mostly] pain as most flash-back we have seen so far are sad and filled with pain).
I think Black Beard may very well be the one to take out Imu, similarly to how he killed WB, take their fruit, and become the final villain
I have this feeling that blackbeard will be able transfer DF powers from a DF user to a regular fruit, turning it to a DF and without killin the user. He will have this ability after awakening his powers. With this, he can shuffle the DF powers of his crew and/or use it as a business to gain wealth.
Really good video i only missed Fukuro when talking about Blackbeard absorbing the pain to powerscale/ understand his crew and opponents. Fukuro could powerscale all of CP9 by getting kicked. It's also logical why Blackbeard did not let himself get kicked by Boa he was afraid to take the gamble. Boa's power effectivly blocks all electrical signals in the bodypart she turns to stone.
That was the whole reason blackbeard waited so long and killed his fellow crew member for that specific devil fruit because the awakened ability of negating the soul binding of the fruit there by allowing multiple devils into one body

1. It lets you do the impossible, and know what is in the hearts of others, particularly the darkness that resides in them.
2. It lets you understand how darkness shapes their minds, creating their "fate".
3. Like with celestial bodies, it helps you plot out their courses in the future, even in a complex world.
4. This is why Blackbeard has difficulty predicting Luffy, because he has so much light to conquer his own darkness with.

I think the perfect final battle would be Luffy vs Blackbeard on Laugh Tale. Luffy using the imagination aspect of his power to emulate the abilities and techniques of all the allies and foes he's fought against/alongside, symbolizing his entire journey and the ambitions and dreams of everyone he's met on the way. While Teach absorbs his crew into his darkness physically absorbing their ambitions and powers into himself, the product of his hard work and scheming finally coming into throughition. One who nurtures ambition and the other who cultivates it.

Overall I liked the vibe of this video. I definitely think Blackbeard's focus on devil fruits and his greed will feed into his defeat somehow- falling into the sea and having no one who can save him would be great.
I also like the idea of Blackbeard turning on his crew. I'd never considered it but the theme of the bonds between straw hats is something I just know Teech lacks- plus Belo Betty said as much in her introduction to Momobeard
It would also make sense why Kaido's crew wasn't full with awakened users. If Oda is planning on BB being a crew full of awakened users, and has a reveal moment in mind. Even though Kaido's crew is zoan users, having a bunch of awakened users in previous arcs before the fight with BB might make it a little more underwhelming than Oda wants. Also all this dream talk makes me think of that reddit post that claimed the final battle will be Luffy and Blackbeard in a "dream world" which if there is any credit to it, maybe that is tied in with BB's dream and in such a state or world he can access everyone's dreams and use them how he pleases.

If you consider the fact that Rocks D Xebec's also gathered a crew of very strong individuals which didn't really work together or had a bond with each other, with the sole purpose to also consume them in the long run. That would also draw a parallel to Garp + Roger vs Rock's and Ruffy (+ Coby?) vs Blackbear. That would make Ruffy the reincarnation of Roger who was too early, and Blackbeard as Xebecs, who also didn't quite manage to consume his crew, so maybe the second god valley accident will be the true god valley accident with Ruffy being just in time and not too early and blackbeard managing to consume his crew. Although it would be quite weird that Garp etc. didn't recognize Blackbeards dark fruit as Xebec's fruit at Marineford.
I think its extremely likely that Blackbeard, like Kuma, is part Buccaneer which would partly explain why his body functions differently from normal humans

Luffy is the sun, while those who grow towards him represent various sorts of plants and trees. These aren't forced towards the sun, but grow towards it ALSO, smiling back as the sun smiles down at them. They look up not only with a smile, but with their hands lifted up in thankfulness, a from of praise. The sun liberates from from darkness by reaching down with its warm rays, and life reaches back
Blackbeard, on the other hand, oppresses life by keep it in darkness, away from the light. He weighs down life with a heaviness that forces it to bow in submission, just as a plant that is thirsty and without sun bows itself due to stress. It's forced or inverted praise. Laughter and smile is how the sun is praised, while misery and sadness is how the darkness receives its praise.
It's the similar contrast between blackbeard and Luffy. Look how Luffy treats his crew, vs how Blackbeard treats his? Luffy allows Sanji and Usopp to beat the crap out of him because he can't hurt his crew... his friends, nor does he want them to turn away from him in the burden of suffering. Blackbeard, though, rides Doc Q and overburdens Stronger, both are suffering and their Captain is laughing. Their suffering is feasted on by the darkness, as that is its praise, that's its purpose. The sun's praise was having his friends turn back towards him, their light.
This is like Infinite Tsukoyumi in Naruto except the plan was to create a peaceful world where everyone becomes a robot whereas here it's to allow everyone to dream endlessly, who knows how so that he can remain at the top.

Since he can absorb and released the things he absorb, what if he absorb the body memory of the DF user and transfer it to other ppl. It makes so much sense that even in the opposite parallel between luffy and teech that his fruit didn’t end up in his hand. Luffys is a fruit of kindness and liberation, of course the fruit would go to no one but him. Teech however, his is a fruit of darkness, inherently evil, he wants to rule over and oppress the world. I feel that fruit would test whoever it deems worthy. It was put in the hands of a close comrade, and teech passed the test by killing his brother for what he’s desired this whole time. No qualms whatsoever of murdering thatch, this was his goal the whole time.
Making a pause at minute 13 before watching the rest, I wonder if that's what Zoro wanted to ask Vegapunk about. Maybe he still thinks about something he saw/noticed during the "nothing happened" moment and wants to ask Vegapunk because of his understanding of Kuma.

Its a pretty easy concept that the apple would be a fruit used for memories and storing information since devil fruits are scene as forbidden items and the aptly named devil fruit ties back to the idea of the Forbiden fruit from the tree of knowledge that Adam and eve partake which is a pretty good parallel to how the WG will strike down anything to do with forbidden knowledge.

The reason why Blackbeard is a better end villain than Imu is because, as you said, he can potentially absorb all powers. If Imu has some power, then Blackbeard can steal it.
According to this theory, there's no limit to how many devil fruits blackbeard can take. And he would have his crew developp devil fruits and their awakening just so that he can take them all in the end.
In that case, Imu won't be the final villain. I could even see Imu get 1-hit by Blackbeard. That would make an amazing climax with Blackbeard being the final vilain of One Piece, which would require an entire war with all characters making an alliance together with Luffy to fight him, and the only possible way to get rid of him would be to send him to the depths of the ocean.

You said about Blackbeard that "he always gives individuals a choice" but it didn't seem like he gave Thatch a choice when he murdered him for the Yami Yami no mi. Perhaps there was a choice offered by Blackbeard to Thatch that we may see in a flashback in the future, however, as of right now it seems like Blackbeard just took it.

I really like this analysis of Blackbeard and his crew vs Luffy's crew's ideology and themes. I like how you used their characterization, personality, motivations, & backstory (Oda's writing) to predict future actions or current abilities rather than the surface level "well this person's hair matches this shape so that means theyre connected totally" (Oda's drawing) like i see so many other theorists do. Not saying those are bad, but i really like seeing a unique take like yours.
- One point you mentioned how Blackbeard may be farming his own crew to get them all awakened and consume them all in the end to become a literal god, is a legit scary idea. Reminds me a bit of the Reapers from Mass Effect, consuming all life once its reached a peak. I wonder how his crewmates will take it or if they're already on board with it.
- One thing you said was that the Darkness fruit might have the power to suck in memories, so now I'm wondering if an awakened Darkness fruit could have been used to suck away everyone's memories of the void century and what it would mean if Blackbeard could do that now
- I wonder if Blackbeard's "never sleeping" is based on the real life genetic mutation that allows one to function normally on only a few hours of sleep (like 4? or less).

According to VegaPunk, the devil fruits are a manifestation of someone’s wish.
The Devil Fruits can be said to affect the soul more than it affects the body, this would be the only way to explain why Luffy remains rubbery even while submerged, the body is feeling the shock before the soul thereby allowing the soul to maintain the power within the body.
Brook’s fruit power can reinforce this considering how the soul is what manifests the power rather than the body. The soul left the body as per the laws of nature but due to the Devil Fruit’s influence it left a beacon for the soul to find its body and re enter. However considering the fog that his body was trapped in, his soul couldn’t get back in time to prevent his body from aging. It could be possible that because his soul was gone, his body did not have the immortality aspect of his fruit’s power and that’s why his body decomposed.
Moria’s fruit allows him to interfere directly with a shadow, if your theory about the body, soul and shadow having separate portions of a whole is correct, this would also explain why experiences and memories are transferred through the shadow but not the power. Otherwise the transfer of the shadow would also transfer Devil fruit powers if at least in an imperfect form.
Considering how Devil fruits allow a person to manifest an aspect of nature (light, fire, rubber, smoothness etc.) it can also be said that several fruits can achieve the same functions depending on how a person applies its power. As an example, Katakuri and Luffy are essentially using the same form of power which is having a pliable body. The only difference they had was the power of their Hakki. In this same mind set, Moria’s shadow abilities could essentially do the same as BlackBeard’s abilities however it can’t take away powers possibly due to the Shadow fruit’s power not being awakened yet. Considering how a person who lost their shadow can still retain their powers since (considering my theory still holds) the power is tied to the soul and not the body, it would only mean that upon awakening, Moria can pull more than just the shadow of the body, but also the shadow of the soul. One thing I have noticed is that aside from folk tales, Oda also likes to include superstitions and old wives tales with certain abilities, having a big head means you have a big brain or something similar. “Just a shadow of his former self” is the saying I was getting at, considering how powerless a person becomes after giving their shadows taken as well as how vulnerable they become as a result.
this was great to read through! and I agree. great synthesis and response. it will be crazy if oda follows through in this path or if he adds a few more elements that warp the future of how this all works. so far this theory logic basis seems sound enough to overlay on the future for the time being from my standpoint.
