Special thanks to: Farrell Performance, Frank Zamal, Kelly Roberts, Tim Baggot, Craig Grant/Pingle Enterprise Race Support and everyone who helped with the trick bits and insight for this Dream Machine build !!!
Wow thanks for sharing what’s possible🍻awesome bike and all the work.
You Sir are a Gentleman and a Scholar!!!
This brings back memories of being a kid and raising hell through El Barrio!!!
I went from a Honda Interceptor 500 to a GSXR-750!! My friends all had Ninja 600r(s)...
I can still hear them downshifting trying to catch me!! I didn't use the tach - shifted by ear!!
Back in the day my moto was - If your bike doesn't have two headlights - You've already lost!!
I have my 1989 GSXR red and white up for sale 10k
Stunning absolutely love her, Pleanty of inspiration for my 85 build, great video 👌
Absolutely beautiful bike. I have the first 1985 750 production model no 222. 23000 kilometers original. Christchurch New Zealand
Its stunning, absolutely quality work, got to see this bike in person a month or so ago and no matter where you look, its stunning.
Thank you sir ;)
That’s got to be the most exquisite motorcycle I’ve ever seen .
You must be proud
🏴love from Scotland 🏴
Thank you Sir
one of my favorite first gens! you do excellent work sir. i own 5 first gens and two are track-only bikes. i run 94-95 GSXR 750 forks, ohlins shocks, modified 1100 linkages, with 1991 gsxr wheels and trackday tires with excellent results. these bikes really do well with these modificcations. 36 RS carbs because my engines are mostly stock; 99RWHP on mine. your engine's 121 hp is impressive!
Thank you. To be fair, this isn't a 1st Gen engine so that helps 😉 Its a dream on track !
God I wish I had the know how to do something like this to my old slabside ❤️ hat's of Sir.
Nice Suzi. I got the same one back in 1986 in Paris! Greetings from Marbella, Southern Spain.. #34 always KS 🏆😎
It is absolutely stunning. Well done restoration.
Not a restoration. Many parts are not suzuki....
Also owned the 1986 yz500 v4 2 stroke. Almost killed me. But oh God thank you for motorcycles
Wow!!!! I had a slabside that I miss selling it and I also had a rrk-sp that I was taken out on by someone on the road. Wish I still had them. Thanks for posting from Scotland 🏴.
i bought a 1986 GSXR-750 brand new. Did the best stoppies in the world!
Now you just need a 1990 big papa replica and you will have achieved perfection
superb..he was soo entertaining on this bike
Nice cant wait to start building mine it will be a bit higher spec as im using period race parts with some modern parts like pfm brakes spondon or harris yolks etc
Thats where I ve seen her at RA,,,,Nice,,,and my forks are heading to Farrells this week for a rebuild,,
100% awesome i had 750 GXSR b reg it had Pepsi spray job and had cobra full system and loved it brilliant bike handling awesome full 750 cc power was awesome then I had 4 GXSR
Gorgeous! I still miss my red/black 86 750 and white/blue 87 1100. Someday I'll have another one until then still riding my 06 50th R1 I bought new
Ive still got my 86 Blue/white 1100, and my 01 R1 bought new way back in 02. ;-)
Plus a few other 80s and 90s Yamahas.
@@uhtred7860 just sold my R1, casually looking for a 86-87 GSXR
@@jaysen192 If you live in the States you stand a good chance of finding a good one. I am constantly amazed at the mint low mileage 80s sports bikes that turn up in the U.S, i guess because so many were sold. Here in NZ people are selling thrashed and crashed nightmares for stupid high prices, or mint examples for REALLY stupid high prices. The Govt, in its infinite wisdom, has just passed a law that any bike made after 89, that is imported into the country, cannot be legal unless it has anti-lock brakes. I bought a 96 TZR 250 SPR from a guy that used to import bikes from Japan, and due to delays because of covd it got here after that ridiculous law got passed. So legally i'm not supposed to ride it on the roads, but screw that, its the Sports Production model built for Japanese Formula 3 racing, with dry clutch and close ratio gearbox, its been derestricted from the Japanese 45 hp limit and has Sugo race kit pipes and ecu and carbs. it GOES! :-)
wow, that video at barber the AHRMA yea she really plays well with modern tires don't she, the lean angle and grip is very solid indeed and she's goes deeper than linda lovelace on the brakes, nice work.. right there with the L9 750's of 2022 1:39's so i'm sure your wellabvoe the times of 86' for sure, trying to find some qualifying times for the superbikes from 86' at barber no luck but I bet some the old pros remember? all the AMA archives are gone, sad they used to go back to the beginning of the program, about 8 years ago they all disappeared
Thanks, Suzy's definitely a sharp tool in track. You'll be hard pressed to find AMA times from Barber 86 as it was built in 2003. I'm sure the big boys would've waxed me regardless ;)
Suzuki needs to bring back the 86, I’d buy one or a few in a heart beat!
They would turn it into something horrible, like they did with the new "Katana"
My dream bike!!🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆
Love that you can interçhange the old Suzuki gsxr that is one awesome motorcycle,,loved my 1100h put dymag wheels on it loads more over the 10years I owned it like the modded ones better ☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️ from northern Ireland great video
That is a beautiful bike. 😍
Great work…we’ll done! 😊
It’s a very nice bike!
Love first look❣
I’m impressed with everything, but particularly impressed with your modifications to the cooling system, and I have a thought or perhaps a question. Have you thought of installing a cooling fan? Would it even be possible?
That's AMAZING job !!!! 🤩🤩🤩
Wow!!!
Amaizing bikes and good job
Very nice bike.. GSXR blue/white.. & white wheels look totally👌🏼🔥
IMO, only if they are modern wheels, the original style wheels don't look good painted white, i just don't think the shape suits the colour, i guess Suzuki thought the same as they only turned white when the 3 spokes turned up. :-)
I dig the heat shield for the fatsliders, bike is just far out I really want to ride it, promise I wont go closer than 2k to ride line and 3/4 WOT on the straights, altho it doesn't appear as if it really needs to be babied, looks like it needs a good floggin, early and often.. lucky guy for sure
Why no Yoshimura Exhaust?? Otherwise that Bike is a Dream!! Wow!!🤩
It is a Yoshimura Cyclone exhaust with an aftermarket Can. Old (undamaged) original Yosh cans are near unobtainium
Thank you for sharing your bike!
Watching your recent Daytona IR race footage, I'm amazed at the steady UEGO readings. CVs, by comparison, are all over the map, especially on a RAM-air street bike. Would outfitting your bike with a RAM-airbox work within AHRMA rules? If so, that would be a great way to pick up another 10 HP...assuming the Mikuni flat slides have a vent port to the float bowls.
Loved the sound of your bike and the race footage. Music to my ears! That's saying a lot. I'm a Kawasaki guy, but I appreciate a sweet sounding motor when I hear one.
Thank you. The digital Guage on the triple clamp is actually a voltmeter not AF. That WOULD be some awesome #'s for sure ;)
The carbs are synced and honestly couldn't have asked for more out of this package!
These IS always room for improvement of course.
@@metlhdmensch1007 Ha! That makes a lot more sense now. It's a great great package you have there! 🤩
Lovely setup mate can you give a detailed explanation on the routing of the cooling setup u have ? Inputs and outputs (from where to where) please ? Cheers
Thanks. I don't think I can get more "detailed" on the cooling without disassembly but if you watch the explanation starting at 15:20, you should get the basics. I've got pics of the plumbing behind the carbs but not sure if I can attach them here.
Sorry bud but hope that helps.
I love it. So awesome!!
Masterpiece
Goodwork
Beautifully done. Amazing looking bike, but I do have a concern.
You have placed inverted forks to a 750 slabby double frame without first bracing the head.
If you intend on riding this on track day, your head might bend or worse crack. Inverts are stronger than the aluminum frame thus placing a stress higher than the frame was designed for.
Been racing this with USD forks since 2019 (see my AHRMA vids).
Nearly flawless with no issues to date
@@metlhdmensch1007 Good to hear. Once again, beautiful bike, nicely done Sir. I wish to congratulate you on you success and may you continue so!
SWEET BIKE !!! 💪💪
Like the exhaust looking for one for my 86, 1100. Any idea where I can get one
I noticed in the “detail,” a pigtail on the left side and a battery quick disconnect? I suspect the black pigtail is to charge your battery and the red connector is just for your starter motor?
Yes
Wonderful machine! I had an 86 that I bought new back then. I just found another and bought it and it's being shipped cross-country to me as we speak. One critique on the video, the background music is annoyingly loud to the point it's overpowering your voice and I can barely hear you. Besides that, thanks for sharing this awesome machine!
Good sound
I had a red and black 1986 with yoshi cams, Ninja 1000 carbs and 1/2 mm over pistons for the street..... i forgot how "noisy" an air cooled motor is !!!!! LOL 🙂
I don't remember that exhaust ever run on the Yoshimura bikes?
@timothykamholz7222 it's a Yosh system with a Ebay Can. The original can was rashed
Looks amazing. I plan on running next Gen SBK2 with an old Duc and was curious if ‘modern’ wheels were acceptable. Have you confirmed that those wheels are ok per the rules? Same with the modern shock also.
Amazing work, hope it rides as well as it looks.
Yes, all these mods are allowed per the rules (at least in Next Gen) Not sure about Next Gen 2 but I'd assume they are similar
Great channel I had been watching your channel recently. You have a great collection question is that something you do that you sell that you provide body kit if you do what’s the best way to contact you thank you for having a great channel and beautiful bikes.👍👍
I sell some of the bikes but keep way to many ;)
my email is blue_r198@yahoo.com
absolutely gorgeous, kin I ride it?
I really have looked all over an didn’t want to bother you but.. the knock off Koso speedo.. what is it called and thank you for taking the time to show your beautiful collection!
Found it..! Maybe I should have asked before I bought it… does it work..:) thank you again
Hey my friend great channel beautiful bike just to let you know I had been watching all your videos you got me into purchasing a 86 frame so I’ll be able to the amazing bike that you have contact information. How can I contact you? Thank you and continue making this, beautiful videos of all this beautiful bikes 👍👍👍👍👍
u can reach me at
blue_r198@yahoo.com
Like the video, killer bike.
Where’s the exhaust from?? Is it a full system??
Exhaust is a full Yoshimura system but the Canister was damaged. Found a Chinese can with the right ID and spliced it on.
Sounds WILD at top revs
Nice bike. What kind of oil temperatures are u getting with those radiators?
Beautiful bike. What exhaust do you have on it? I'd like that for my 87 1100.
@@DavidFrogge it's a Yosh full exhaust with a Chinese SC can (which just HOWLS)
V nice build 👌
What yr r6 wheels plz ? Cheerz
O6-16. Rear took a little machining of the cush and custom spacers
@@metlhdmensch1007 thanx for taking time out to reply - not a lot of people do - those wheels look brill - almost like marchesini - did you use r6 or gsxr wheel spindles ?
Cheerz .
@@debbiewright2171 my pleasure.
standard gixxer rear axle. Front is obviously the std R1
@@metlhdmensch1007 hi and thanx for your reply and info 👍very helpful and appreciated 🙃
Fantastic work! Is there any email I can reach you guys on?
Was it hard to fit the rims? Great idea..
Nice, what's the rear wheel and tire?
R6 wheels, Pirelli slicks
did kevin use that same clock back then?
How did you do the r1 forks and r6 wheels modifications?
R1 front end is just head bearings.
Rear wheel is a lot more involved, spacers, machining the wheel and cush etc.
Beautiful! I am working on a '86 track bike. Have tons of questions but the one I'm most interested in: how is the steering stabilizer connected to the frame? Looks like maybe a Rivnut?
Actually drilled through the frame with a flange nut on the inside.
@@metlhdmensch1007 Great thanks!
What did you use for your power distribution unit if you don't mind me asking? thanks
Cool bike, but why would you have the TV on in the background?
Beautiful bike! I have a 87 750 I’m building currently. I have a few questions. Where did you get the tray your dyno2000 is sitting in? And how do you have your seat release mounted without the passenger rear set? Just a custom mount? Also your carb shrouds are they airtech? Thank you
The Dyna 2000 sits in the OE "tool tray", seat release is OE as well. The carb shrouds are by FIBERMAN from Ireland. He does the best glass but AirTech does them also.
You feel the frame flex due to the big forks, big brakes, and slicks when pushed hard?
Not really but I am planning to "brace" another frame. Just another step in the evolution 😉
I believe the bike used by Kevin was actually an 1100 and braced. I forget where I read that. You have a beautiful bike Sir
Not criticizing, because we have the same issue on our 4-cylinder ZX-9Rs. The throttle bodies sound like they may be slightly out of synch? Nothing a CarbTune Pro 4 can't make quick work of.
Do you use rear brake much? I’m interested in a lightweight rotor?
I don't really. But I did see this same rotor being used on the Westby Superbike and I know those guys use em
How hard is it to find parts for these bikes nowadays? That thing is a beauty
It''s actaully not bad. Tons of used and even though some OEM parts are no longer available, I'm suprised at what is.
Suzuki does a Vintage Parts Programme, which does some stuff, good body work is the holy grail, and if you find any, guys are asking outrageous money. (glass fibre is available tho) I just finished restoring my Blue/White 86 1100 and got a lot of stuff from CMS in the Netherlands, but they are pricey, I got a full Decal set from RDdecals and just about everything else from Suzuki Dealers or ebay. OEM Stuff that is specific to early GSX-Rs is out there, but its drying up fast. Some stuff Suzuki used on other models and is still available. I'm starting on restoring my 87 FZR1000 now, and trying to find a decent nose cone is proving difficult.
Do you recall what Accel part # wires you used? Also would love to see a video going into the race wiring harness. Did you build that from scratch or modify an existing?
Race harness was from scratch, with a lot of head-scratching 😉
I want these R6 wheels on my 636! But first I want to swap in a set of big piston forks, I do not like the SFF forks🙄😒 WTH was Kawasaki thinking
Where can i buy the frame protectors
The carb shrouds? Fiberman from Ireland
@@metlhdmensch1007 Thank you
Sounds like it’s running rough as fuck for me. Might want to adjust that clutch as well. 🇬🇧🇺🇸
LOL

Do you live in Wi?
Yes I do
@@metlhdmensch1007 I live close to Madison. Had a 86 GSXR 1100, PM wheels/brakes/rotors,CR carbs, some head work and other yoshi parts. Was a super clean bike, sold it back in 01 and never seen it again.
Nice bike except for the fact that they didn't use TANK GRIPS in '86 -
They also didn't use USD forks, TTXGP Shock, monoblock calipers, lithium batteries, etc. etc. It's more of a "Tribute" than a replica
@@metlhdmensch1007 u can plaster #34 on any Suzuki and it's a tribute
@@stevebigansky9372 um... sure 🤣
@@metlhdmensch1007 BEAUTIFUL BIKE though- nice work and lots of attention to detail- Mr SWANTZ would be proud
