  • This tutorial will show you how to make a "Fantasy Style" peony flower. The petals are textured to look like fabric, and the center is glittery and sparkly like jewelry. This is a great demonstration of how to use the same cutters for different looks! SUBSCRIBE for new videos every Tuesday!!

    Just stumbled upon your site and fell in love with your Peony. Absolutely beautiful and stunning. I too, make gumpaste flowers and never thought of using tulle to give the petals texture. Thank you for showing me this awesome trick. Could you please tell me the maker of the Peony set? Absolutely love your work.

    its amazing realy i will try to make it , i have a question , we dont have these wires , is there anything i can use insted ??

    • @reneeconner
      @reneeconner  10 лет назад

      Hmmm... It would be difficult to make this flower exactly without wires... you can use any appropriate gauge wire. I like the paper or fabric covered ones but you can use uncovered wires and wrap them with floral tape first (or not, they will just be slippery) Just make sure your wires aren't inserted directly into a cake, insert them into a straw :) If you want to make a similar flower without any wire at all, cut the petals, allow them to dry so they hold their shape and assemble them with little dabs of melted white chocolate (use a small fondant circle as a base). Le me know how it goes! Good Luck!!

    What size cutters did you use please? If I wanted to go bigger would I just ass more pettles or would I need a larger size?

    Thank you for responding. I am trying to learn how make gumpaste flowers. Would you mind telling me what pads you are using to cut and form the petals on. 🌸🌸💐

    • @reneeconner
      @reneeconner  6 лет назад

      I use a self-healing mat to cut on and then I use a cel pad when working not he edges of the petals :)

  • @louisebooth7590

    How would you do the vein down the middle without the board?

    • @reneeconner
      @reneeconner  9 лет назад +2

      Louise Booth If you don't have a grooved board, you can A) roll out the gumpaste leaving one end thicker, cut out the petals so that the top of the petal is cut from the thinner gumpaste, leaving a thicker base. Insert the wire into the base... or B) place the wire right on top of the petal and pinch the gumpaste up around it, kind of pinching a vein with your fingers, then you can place the tulle on top and roll over with a rolling pin and it will disguise the seam. I used both of these methods when starting out, before investing in my little grooved board!

  • @cakescupcakes6703
    @cakescupcakes6703 9 лет назад

    hi wants the name of the white board you use that has lines to put the wire throw ty

    • @reneeconner
      @reneeconner  9 лет назад

      +Cakes Cupcakes It's called a CelBoard (by Cel Cakes Brand) or a grooved board if you are looking for a generic one.

  • @cakescupcakes6703
    @cakescupcakes6703 9 лет назад

    do i need the celboard or could i use something else? ty

    • @reneeconner
      @reneeconner  9 лет назад

      +Cakes Cupcakes I really love my cell board, I think it gives the best results. It is a little pricey, but well worth the investment if you intend on making lots of sugar flowers. I've had mine for years and use it often (I just have the small one). If you don't want to buy it you can search for a generic groove board. Wilton also sells a veining mat set, and one of the mats has a groove (I don't love it though), it's a teal colored set, one of the veining impressions is for dogwood. You can also try to get away with either rolling the gumpaste a little thicker on one end, so you can insert the wire (but make less delicate looking flowers), or try pinching the wire into the center of the petal (but you will be able to see the crease if it's isn't a heavily textured petal).

  • @TheTallDarkTruth
    @TheTallDarkTruth 9 лет назад

    Your gumpaste seems so stiff. When I lift my petals by the wire before they have set (even just to move them from one board to the apple tray, they are floppy and sometimes tear off the wire (even with a big vein down the middle/ no glue/ with glue/ different sized wires/ different thickness rolled out). How is yours so stiff?

    • @reneeconner
      @reneeconner  9 лет назад

      TheTallDarkTruth I use Nick Lodge's gumpaste recipe, it is wonderful and the best gumpaste I have ever worked with. I'm not sure what you are using, but sorry to hear you are having problems with it... I highly suggest trying out Nick Lodge's recipe though, I believe he has a video on RUclips demonstrating the recipe through Craftsy's channel.
