Thank you for the tutorial, I hadn't made sweet peas before and my son wanted them on his wedding cake. I was pleased with the result, as were the bride and groom. Thank you.
Renee, Sweet peas are one of my very favorite flowers. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your video and think I have watched it 100x. I am hoping to have a bunch of video's on here that are easy and for beginners. THUMBS UP Again! Thank you. :)
What a lovely sweet pea! Thank you so much for creating this tutorial. You did such a great job teaching. I can't wait to use these on my Grandmother's cake :)
Thank you so much! These are one of my favorites to make... they are pretty fast but the result is so delicate and beautiful! I'm sure your grandmother's cake will turn out amazing. I'd love to see pics, feel free to share them on my FB page!
Thank you so much for the tutorial with a very clear explanation. ..I love all your videos I can keep watching them all day long. I have learned so many through all your tutorials. Thank you again 😘😘
well versed on what you do. your instructions were very clear and concise... I love it. thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and skills to us. such an inspiration 👌🏼👍🏼
Hola que belleza, te felicito, sorry I do not speck english. Pero entiendo perfectamente el movimiento de tus manos, voy a seguirte a partir de hoy. Gracias y que Dios te bendiga.
Thank you... I usually let the gumpaste dry completely before dusting. They are delicate in the in-between stage... and also, you may end up with splotchy colors if the gumpaste isn't completely dry (the dust will cling to any spots that are more moist). The time it takes for the gumpaste to dry varies depending on your climate and recipe.
Namaste...me frm india...loved ur work...n u r inspiration to me...subscribed ur channel...clear language and execution too...love u sister....pls share more n more flower making tutorials....
Thank you for the wonderful compliment and thank you for subscribing! I will definitely share more sugar flower tutorials, one of my favorite things to make :)
Hi Renee, I loved your video and I really want to make these for a wedding cake soon. I ordered a sweet pea cutter set online in the size small. But when it arrived these were really really small, like tiny. Just wondering if you'd be able to tell me the size you are using here, like if you measured from across them? That would be so great xx
Sure- the outer petal cutter is 1.5" wide by 1" tall and the inner petal cutter is 1"x1". Hope that helps! Good luck with your flowers :) Let me know how they turn out!
ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS! I love Sweet Peas and had to see it again. I can make these, I know I can.. I see I wrote you before and you answered, but I am so sorry as I hadn't seen your answer. I will look into those sites. I have done pretty good so far with the flowers I have made, but as far as fondant goes, would you color your own paste or buy it pre made in whatever color you want to make your flowers in. I am not sure to make my own colored paste or buy it, if I can buy it premade? Also, I am checking out the school you mentioned and where can I find Sharon Zambito? I don't want to make cakes, just the flowers and have someone else make the cakes for me. lol I had my share of baking and then some, when I was raising kids, who are now adults, and then my grandsons who are now adults, but they still love baked goods from grandma's. :)Thank you so very much! I hope to follow you for a long time.
HI Renee! Your Sweet Peas are GORGEOUS! I am just learning to make fondant or gumpaste flowers.. I mean a beginning learner, but I have been a card maker for yrs and have almost mastered that..I have been wanting to learn this art for yrs...Can you tell me where you first learned? Is there places I could take classes? I KNOW I want to learn all that ou can teach me! THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH... I am happy you listed your supplies as I am going there now to buy some...and to look at your other video's..THANK YOU again...these are one of my FAVORITE flowers of all. blessings~
I am so glad you liked this video, thank you for your sweet words! I am self-taught... There is a lot of online resources to check out... but for the most part I've just seen a technique I wanted to learn and went about figuring it out. For the flowers, I look at the cutters, look at a real flower and figure out how to make the same shapes. Sometimes cutters will come with some rough instruction, but I have not found those extremely helpful. If you are looking for more than the free instruction you find online/on youtube... I know that the brief videos are not always super detailed... you should check out SugarEd Productions, online cake school. It's sugaredproductions.com. I am a guest instructor there and have several full in-depth classes up. But there are a ton of classes and all are longer so they go into great detail on how to master different techniques or designs. Sharon Zambito runs/owns the school and she is awesome. It is a subscription membership, but in addition to hours of video instruction, photo tutorials, recipes, etc, there is a member exclusive FB group. I am on there and jump in to answer questions, I know the other instructors do as well and Sharon is a huge wealth of knowledge. *I don't earn a commission from the site, I just genuinely think it's great :)
It really depends on your gumpaste recipe, the humidity and how thick your roll it. I use Nicholas Lodge's gumpaste recipe, I live in New Hampshire and I roll my gumpaste very thin. These will usually dry in a few hours for me.
