- There are a few things that you come to expect when reviewing budget running shoes. But this is the $110 Reebok Floatride Energy 5, and it defies all expectations. It’s not just a budget shoe that is good. Rather, this is a good shoe that happens to fit in a lot of people’s budget.

Not sure where to post this, but hope you see it, Mike. It's one dumb comment vs support from hundreds of thousands of a community you have built. We have always heard and deeply felt your positive message to get out and run to all people of all ages and levels. We appreciate you many!
I've been running in Floatride Energy since v1, and when they're on sale, you can get them for $50-$60, which is a fantastic value. I put about 600 miles each on two pairs of the v1 and they were great in helping me train for a 100-miler a few years back. The Floatride Energy proves that sometimes (often, usually, most of the time?) a simple, inexpensive pair without the latest tech is more than good enough for our running needs. Running does not have to be an expensive pursuit (unless you choose to make it expensive).
Great review - I grabbed these on sale this weekend for $50 Canadian! I ordered a pair for myself and my son, who has just started getting into running. Hoping to do our first 5K race together this year.
HI
Would love to hear where you got that price! Thanks
Can get the 3 on Sierra in US for 39.95.
for an average runner, you can't go wrong with Reebok, really. Affordable and just brilliant
Yo, what’s going on Ko! Hey man I really appreciate your input on different types of shoes. I think it is extremely helpful for anyone who enjoys running and is learning about the sport. Your honest opinion has made it easier for me when it comes to finding the right shoe for the right run or workout. Keep up these great reviews coming my friend!
Thank you sir Ko! This is a great review. It helps a lot to me.
Glad it was helpful!
Great review Ko! I appreciate your willingness to test out a broad scope of brands and give a comprehensive and fair review of their shoes. Your videos have helped me rediscover my love for running after 6 years off from racing! Hope you have a great day!
I have the version 1 of this shoe and the TPU midsole is very good. Got softer with use without bottoming out, changes very little in cold temperature and last forever...if they didn't change the midsole and added more stack this shoe could easily be the best value for miles.
I've rather enjoyed having several pairs of Reebok Floatride shoes in my rotation the past 4+ years. FWIW, that Topo Cyclone 2 seems like what the Reebok Floatride Run Fast and its PEBA midsole could be now if they'd continued iterating on it...that plus the fact that some of the former Rebook employees who worked on the Floatride line are now at Saucony sure made the pairing section of the video rather interesting (at least for me)!
Hi Ko, I said hello at the end of NYC 2022 and in Boston (with Dario)! I can understand why you don't most of the time, but thank you for reviewing a budget shoe.
I also appreciated the "so bored" at 4:18. 😂
Great review for a shoe that sounds perfect for not only the experienced, but new runner. Always good to see a good shoe at a reasonable price. Thanks for sharing!👍
it's a breath of fresh air in the year of $160 shoes
I bought 3 versions of the previous version. That's how much I recommend this series.
I feel like you should buy a “budget” shoe only if you really like that shoe, and not because it’s a few bucks cheaper. I still think the last years model is still the way to go if you want a cheaper shoe. I bought the Kinvara 13, Triumph 19, and Xodus Ultra each for under $70 within the past several months
Great review Ko! Great job as always!
In europe the FE5 are now on sale for €55
Funny, your review for this came out today as I pulled out the Run Fast 3 for a threshold workout this morning for the first time in a while. Not sure why Reebok stopped the Run Fast line with the Floatride + midsole.
I hope there's be more and more budget friendly shoes reviews.
Currently dailies in V3. One of the most versatile and durable dailies I have. Feels like normal shoes; so it's great for walking which make it great travel as well. Seems that the shoe lace length issue still there in the v5. Fortunately that's an easy fix.
Another great review of a Boston shoe. I wish the heel drop was lower, like 4 mm. I wonder why Reebok went away from PEBA. I'm digging your comparison options; i.e., Saucony & Topo -- also Boston shoes both of which I own. Thanks Mike.
I think soon Reebok will back peba in they’re race shoes
I am currently on FE 4. Good shoes
Great review as always! I've run in the floatride foam before from Reebok and really enjoyed it. Looks like I should try it out again 😁. Do you think the outsole will last long? Thanks again! 😁
I’ve already seen more conflicting reports of sizing on this shoe than most. Almost wondering if there’s some manufacturer error/quality control issues. Run Testers review gave the impression he could have almost gone down two sizes
真的很漂亮 前几天用了260rmd买了他 穿他进行15km以内的速训真的很棒
Glad you’re enjoying them!
Bought the Reebok Floatride energy 5. Love the shoe and the only thing that I didn’t care for is the tongue is too short and so is the strings. Otherwise, one of the best shoes I’ve put on this year.
how is the cushion for running?
For any Aussies, these are currently $80aud at athletes foot.
I've gotta wear mine in a bit as initially they seem a bit stiff and boring.
Really love the RFE4 for session,.the only issue for me is the stability in tend to sank inward.
Hi! Now I'm choosing between 3 pairs of shoes that got big discounts. Supernova 2, Supernova+ and Floatride 5. I'm just a beginner runner and I want to choose my first pair.
After looking at the reviews, it seemed to me that Adidas is aimed at slower but more “plush” running, is that true? Should I, as a beginner, focus on models with stronger shock absorption?
And in general, what do you think about my choice? The price of the models I have chosen is now less than 60 usd....
Still have a pair of the version 2's that I've been using for over 2 years! Just saw a pair of the 5's on sale here in Australia for $79 at the Athlete's Foot. Also endorphin pro 3 for $139
I can't see the endorphin pro at that price
i wish theres huge sale soon for ep3, its still like 230ish in Indonesia
@@grahamlobsey2687 sold out now unfortunately. Knew it wouldn't last at that price..
Looks good!
So far, this tier of daily trainer has some good ones:
• Floatride Energy 5
• Voyage Nitro 2
• Skechers Ride 11
• NB Propel v4
Any plans to look at the Ride 11?
Probably not
I have always said pound for pound there’s not much that’s better than a Reebok Floatride! Like you say, cost against performance it’s definitely up there….👍🏻
I'll probably kick in another 20 and get some more Novablast 3. Addicted to the ffBlast+.
I wanted to like these but they just felt like vice-grips on my mid foot. I couldn't loosen them enough to get comfortable.
I tried so hard to run this shoe... and tbh i totally like it, but i can´t run in it. Getting hot spots on my forefoot every single run. Didn´t have this problem in the first version (absolutly loved to run the first version) but since version 3, 4 and now 5 same issue. Sad but it is how it is.
Sorry to hear that
@@kofuzi All good, there are a lot of other nice running shoes... Bought the Glideride 3 after your video, absolutly love this shoe!
Thanks for the video !
I read some reviews mentioning a very stiff/ harsh feeling for forefoot/ mid foot strikers and a very narrow mid foot
Did you feel similar?
Thanks again
Have you tried the Floatride Energy 4? How else does it compare as a DT?
Doesn’t look like a bad shoe all things considered
Kofuzi! My man. Do you think these are better than version 3?
Between velocity 3/floatride/adizero sl. Which one is actually better especially for wide foot? Looking to participate in my first full marathon in it.
I would first go with whichever of those are available in wide. I don’t know off the top of my head.
If they are all available in wide (or none are available in wide), I’d probably go with Adizero SL
to me with 6mm drop would be perfection
Can you review the NB Fresh Foam X Kaiha Road pls
need floatride cushion on basketball shoes 😁
50 Canadian (10 US😂) in Niagara Falls 🇨🇦 Good shoe.
Compared to version 3, which do y'all prefer? TIA!
are you shopping for a v3? it's still available?
there are differences, but assuming you're getting a substantial discount on v3, I'd say go with v3 (assuming that you are getting a legit pair)
Bought yesterday here in Brazil for 49 dollars
nice
would this be a a good long run shoe for 15 up to 20 miles runs currently starting a marathon block
For some people, it certainly could be. However, I generally like this shoe for about 10 miles or less. For much longer runs, my personal preference would be to go with something with a bit more cushion underfoot.
I had the v2 and was okay, the midsole did well but quality of the upper absolutely sucks and didn't even last 6 months, it's cheap for a reason
HI Kofuzi - whats the max distance you recommend running in these? 21km or shorter?
I like an optimal time for the shoe is 60 minutes or less, assuming an easy effort run
Can Reebok floatride 5 handle the half marathon ? Or better go for nike Pegasus?
both would be fine options
What I mean, I done 2 half marathons in my live in very old Nike Pegasus 30, still using them up to this day after after 7 years of using they started to hurt my feet.
Reebok floatride 5 catches my eyes, because of price , but many reviews tells they only good for 10k distancees , and they very tight in midfoot .
Will half marathon not be a bad experience wearing them on?
6:31 Version 1 was the same.
Hi Mike, I bought the Saucony ride 15 for 60 euro which I felt was a great bargain, how would you compare it to the Floatride 5??,
Yo, what’s going on!!!
yo
The price just dropped to $84.97 on Reebok.
THey don't make a 12.5. Them and Puma.
Hahaha $110 is a budget running shoes! When it is under $75 then it might be a budget running shoe.
You can easily find it on sale for 70
Most good running shoes are at least $130 before discounts, so yes, this is a budget shoe.
I'm not saying it's not a lot of money. but it's a budget shoe compared to the rest of what's out there.
and there's certainly another tier of shoes that are even cheaper, but I don't review price point shoes
Here in Germany it's between 70 and 80 bucks depending on the size. Including tax
In Turkey, there is %20 discount, it's exactly 50$ in Reebok turkey site.
This comes off as kinda douchey to be honest. I’m very “into” running and do fine with my $50 ASICS. You should encourage people to get out and run, not make them feel like they have to spend hundreds of dollars to get decent shoes
This isn’t the channel if you’re looking for DSW running shoes. Kofuzi is definitely a shoe technology enthusiast! I get along just fine with my ASICS Gel Contend 7 for easy and casual runs but even the Reebok FE5 blows it out of the water with its foam and construction quality. And I’m coming from a barefoot running background in the early 00s.
my first advice to all new runners or those curious about running is go to out and start. you already have shoes. any shoes. that's a great place to start.
I don't think there's anything douchey about my shoe review channel (or, if you think about what you're suggesting - all review channels). perhaps you are feeling insecure. or perhaps you're feeling like there isn't enough appreciation for the type of shoes that you enjoy.
I would recommend starting a blog, an IG account, a RUclips channel (you've already got a username and login). or just find any way, like in these comments, share the way you love running and find others who feel the same. (but what you did here isn't sharing a love of running)
And some people run marathons in Crocs. This is not a channel for those people.
I think you're sorely mistaken if you take Mike for ever making fun of people.
@@kofuzi I think the point St. Pete was making is that you can be a serious runner and not spend a lot on shoes.
so, ive made the call to go with the pro 2 as i got them for 100 bucks over the vaporfly 2 for 180 dollars...did i make a mistake? i see so many nikes but i ran my half marathon/10k PR in speed 2s...thoughts? @kofuzi please weigh in!
Is this good for wide foots?
