  • The Flow 556k from Huxwrx is likely the first commercially successful flow through can. Flow technology has the potential to completely revamp what we think about suppressors. But at what cost?

    From the time I got more serious about firearms in 2020, I wanted a HUXWRX can, but when SilencerCo released the Velos LBP, I bought that instead because I didn't want a proprietary muzzle device. I swapped on a different hub adaptor to my Velos and run Plan B mounts on every muzzle I can. I love it, and I'll probably get the 7.62 Velos later on when they offer a deal. It barely changes my gassing, has almost no flash even under nods, and doesn't make my ears hurt on anything 18" or longer.

    I find the biggest benefit is being able to setup your rifle exactly how you want it buffer spring/weight and ejection wise and then not having to change a thing when adding the suppressor. It's also so nice to shoot and have literally nothing coming back at you. All that said I prefer my direct thread YHM Turbo T2 at 12.7oz for the sound and weight, with no muzzle device I'm taking off 3.5 to 4.5 OZ vs a quick detach with muzzle device and man you can tell on the end of the gun. Mine also has a slight ring to it, not sure if its the prongs at the end or printing density or what.

    I have a few Huxwrk cans and like them a lot. Some of my observations: 1) The normal “flash hider” works as a weak break. You get a bit of that concussion near the muzzle like with a break and I think that is why it sounds a bit louder. 2) beware of “hot swapping” a hot suppressor onto a cold gun. I generally have no issue with it locking up on a hot barrel but if you take that hot suppressor and screw it onto a cold barrel it’s not coming off unless you wrench it off. 3) it’s the best suppressor I’ve ever used for gas back to the face, very pleasant to shoot. 3) It doesn’t seem to stabilize muzzle flip as much as a regular suppressor. I don’t have hard data on this but it just doesn’t seem to zero/smooth out muzzle movement like my traditional suppressors. 4) as mentioned in the video if you have multiple suppressors this is only going to fit the guns with the corresponding muzzle device, this is especially true for P&W rifles. 5) The Cobalt Kinetics muzzle device is the best overall device I’ve ever used. It’s a unique break/comp that has a very reasonable pressure profile. You’re neighbors standing next to you won’t hate you and it keeps the muzzle right on target with almost zero muzzle movement. 6) all-in-all a great suppressor. Thanks Brass Facts for the extra info, especially the night vision related performance.

    We have one of these at the shop, it does work and it does work well. It's probably one of the coolest full auto cans we have. That said, I had it installed on a longer barreled SPR, and a bolt rifle for a while and the performance didn't really wow me, it changes the tone a lot, but to the shooter's ear it was still painful to shoot. By far the biggest issue I had was the "quick detach" system. It ended up being more like a quick loosen system.

      @@Furiouspenguin27 He's not talking about hearing safe, he's talking about hearing tolerable. Cans have the bonus of allowing you to pop off a few shots without your ears hurting and having reduced hearing (short term, obviously the long term effects are still there), usually that is.

      @@Furiouspenguin27 OSHA hearing safe and "not painful" have different meanings, which is why I went with "painful" vs "not painful". I like the HUX can, we've run it on a number of post samples, it doesn't bump the cyclic rate anywhere near as much as the Surefire RC2, which is, a much quieter can, if you can get over the gas in the face issues. Again, biggest complaint with the hux is that mounting system. I know it's now available with some models using a hub compatible system, would be interested to try it with a Rearden Plan-A to Plan B.

    • @StrideResearch
      @StrideResearch 4 месяца назад +2

      @@highdesertdrew1844false, the RC2 is not a much quieter can. Pew Science proved that. You might “perceive” it to be quieter, but the hearing damage risk criterion does not care about your perception.

    Great video. I also got one and have been thoroughly enjoying it. I too have a sandman S and friggin hate using that big heavy bastard. The blast baffle is so badly eroded on the sandman that it’s sad. Been mainly shooting a polonium K and have a Sierra 5 pre and post op. Polonium k I think you’d thoroughly thoroughly enjoy for the money in place of your sandman. Anyway, just thought I’d “engage” lol thanks man

These people, as few there may be, are here for good reason. Sure, he looks like the home-schooled kid that transitioned to public school, still carries playdoh in his pocket and has 3 imaginary friends; but when that kid grabs his science kit… learn how to watch. I wish the notification bell had a better choice above “ALL”. -it’s called substar- TLDR this channel is genuinely grown with a beautiful balance of entertainment and information. Cannot recommend enough.

Light weight, hub compatible for under $500 street price. Very interesting combo of features. I'd love to see a non shill review though before I commit.

    I recently ordered a couple of similar 3D printed flow-through cans (CAT WB and PTR Vent). My thinking is, yeah they are 2x the cost of a baffle stack but still less than what ammo costs over time - and by the time you’ve sufficiently tuned your rifle for use with a high back pressure can (which might include swapping the buffer, getting a vented charging handle, gas block, and high-dwell-time BCG) you could end up having paid just as much for a less reliable setup.

The DBAL A3 has a limiter ring you can take out, thus allowing you much more travel to focus the illuminator. Wayyyy more powerful. I'll post a link from a vid how to do it
