I've been serving in the French military for 18 years and did many missions in Africa and Afghanistan, I can tell you the FN FNC and the FN FAL are VERY COMMON in Africa. I don't know why but I never encountered rebels with French FAMAS or US M16/M4, but they nearly all used either some sort of AK variant or a FN Belgian assault rifle FAL or FNC... For a small country, Belgium managed to sell their excellent firearms worldwide !

I was in the Australian military from 1985-1988 and I loved my SLR, as you'll no doubt know, the commonwealth version of the FN FAL but semi-auto only in most models. It was bloody heavy but it was a beautiful thing. We'd argue about who'd get to carry the squad M-16 on exercises, because it was so much lighter but, and as history has proven wrong, we all assumed the heavier bullet had more punch. Ok, it does have more punch - the 7.62 would go straight through the sides of our M113s, where the .556 would bounce, but as we all now know, most contact ranges are in the low hundreds of metres and you can carry more .556 for the same weight, not even including the weight of the rifle. Anyway. Like most people of my generation and background, the FN FAL holds a special place in my heart. And I remained the company champion at stripping and reassembling the SLR blindfolded for the entire time I was serving. Possibly being a guitarist gave me dexterity on both hands that some didn't have :D My time was over before the Aussteyr became a thing. We didn't even have helmets.
Oh, and Vive la France! Love the place and the people. Before brexshit, I was planning on retiring to the Bearn. But after the Poms went and shat the bed, we decided we'd go back to Oz instead. We could possibly still retire to France but it's much much more difficult and as we've had a life in the UK for 25 years, I wouldn't want to lose that to get French citizenship. Assuming we could. We were even taking lessons in Francais before 2016, but stopped when it looked like we wouldn't be moving. I've had too much coffee this morning, I think.

    STG coming like
    “I’ve…returned”
And the reason The PPSH is so controllable is just the science behind how they made the muzzle break
It’s 3 holes there isn’t one on the bottom so all the gas just goes out the top so when dealing with a gun firing at the rate of “oh dear lord I’m already out of ammo” instead of it rising from recoil it dips down keeping you on target which takes accuracy by volume to a new level

I'm sure I'm NOT, since I know history of this weapon making and also, I can find on the website of "Forgotten Weapon" manual for AF-1916 written in 1923, where its explains what an "avtomat" is, and its primary mode of fire in full automatic mode, but not in the same long fashion like a heavy MG, because it's a carbine, so sparing full auto bursts are highly advised to preserve ammo, weapon longevity and weapon overheating(but it is not forbidding to empty full magazine on full auto mode). And also unlike BAR which is LMG(Light Machine Gun or Russ. Ручной Пулемёт(Hand-Held Machine-Gun)) like Lewis LMG, Degteriev's-1928 or Kalashnikov's RPK(that featured in this video) which is Squat fire support weapon, and not an "Every Squat member" personal weapon, like AF-1916 or STG-44 or AK-47. In case you wondering what "A" means in Russian abbreviation of Soviet weapons, yet it does not exist in a SMG(Sub Machine Gun) class weapons, because PPSh-41 or PPD-40 or PPS-43 are not classified as an "Avtomat" because it uses "pistol" round, hence "Пистолет-Пулимёт" similar to German MP(MaschinenPistole). Portuguese Army just recently moved away from the G3 (7,62) to the SCAR! About 3/4 years they started fielding the SCAR to the forces that are deployed in NATO or UN missions. Army basic training is still done with the G3 and after basic training you get to learn to use the SCAR. Portugal has a lot of G3 (and I mean a lot), our Marines still use the G3 with the Spear upgrade kit, but our Marines are just plain crazy because the say nothing kills like a 7,62!

But we Marines know that nothing kills Marines like the A-10. With the notable exception of the Marine in March of 2003 that had part of his ass shot off by a 30MM round from an A-10. He’s the odd man out.
We still love A-10’s. But don’t trust them until after the first gun run.

I took mental notes of the firearms I saw in Ukraine last year. No I didn’t go fight, but I went for other reasons. The first one was an AKS-74u that a Ukrainian soldier had slung around himself. Saw several AK-74s, a couple AKM rifles, an RPD, an unknown gun with a long barrel and a Makarov or two, but can’t confirm as I only saw the base of the magazine sticking out from under a holster flap. I did overhear a conversation about how this one soldier needed to get a “new holster for his Makarov”.
One soldier I saw on two or three occasions carried an AR-15 Carbine, but am unsure if it was select-fire or not. It had an A2 front sight, Magpul flip up rear sight and in my opinion looked like the Springfield Saint, but with key mod options. Also the barrel appeared to be 12.5” long.
I noticed the Ukrainian men tended to have AK-74s with the folding stocks and the women carried ones with fixed stocks. Both AKM rifles had wood furniture and fixed stocks.

Informed conjecture on my part but men carrying folding stocks and women carrying fixed stock AK-74s is probably because the men do the assaulting while the women would more likely be shooting from a fixed distance. In Iraq back in 2006-2007, I was actually one of the first to be able to buy a Magpul variable length stock and threw it on my SBR M4 while doing urban assaulting for better handling. In an assault, I'd set the stock to "stubby" mode, or retracted all the way in, if I were tasked with being the point man or second-man-in for that day. Folding stocks were never popular in the US military because Hollywood tended to depict folding stocks as something criminals used to hide a weapon. Plus a number of states in the US have an outright ban on them, including where I live.

Azerbaijan war was the opposite of Ukraine. In Ukraine, no sides have clear air superiority. In Azerbaijan, Azerbaijan had clear air superiority. Ukraine is a slow attrition war. Interesting detail: soldier on the right in 10:54 wears ROA patch - ROA short for Russian Libration Army (Русская Освободительная Армия), was a unit composed of Russian anti-communists and POWs who fought on the side of Germany, but eventually fought also against Germans in Prague in 1945. This symbolic is still used by many Russians, especially far-right who fight on Ukrainian side.
This is an old photo, from the beginning of the invasion of two Russian brothers who fought on Ukraine's side, I believe their father also fought. I believe one or both of them died in defense of Kyiv in 2022.
