I've just in the last few months come to realize that most people, and by most I mean probably 80-85% of people really don't pay any attention to anyone or anything around them. It's just always come so naturally to me that I just assumed everyone was like me. But it's really true most people don't know anything is out of place until it's happening. And I've noticed that a lot of people don't really think that violence is real. They seem to think it's something that happens in movies or in New York City or something. I've seen where people are obviously about to get down and other people are milling around or even standing there running their mouth at the person who's obviously about to do something wild. Because they've just never been exposed to it in real life. And they're always in total disbelief when it happens. However, I'd say it's very difficult unless you've been taught, (and I haven't) to know who the people who *ARE* paying attention are.
One thing people forget about "Grey Man," is the idea is to blend into the local population, which means if your in a liberal area, you need to look like a liberal, if your in a rugged conservative area, you need to look like a rugged conservative, you need to blend in. Its nice lots of companies make "low-vis" kit but most of it still looks fairly tactical.
Hence the birth of the "tactical hipster beard". You'll never know if someone ate their plates to grow facial armour, or if they think a plate carrier is for fine china.
Here in the western Carolinas, my low vis jacket is a Carhartt. Pair of jeans and a farm jacket will let you walk around just about anywhere. I love some of my high speed gear, but unless I'm in the woods, the camo is much more conspicuous than dirty workwear.
A good cheap way to carry mags is the small sleeves for reading glasses. They can be had at thrift stores or the dollar store. The foam padded cotton sleeves. Not the hard cases with a hinge.
When you said physical fitness and the ability to fight or take a punch. That earned my sub. A lot of RUclipsrs don’t focus on that, only pulling the weapon. I don’t think they realize, being able to fight is better in most cases. Great video.
I despised my step dad for always shadow boxing and wrestling me ever since I was a toddler. I hated it. Today I am nothing but grateful for it, and for him putting me into martial arts as a kid. Can't tell you how many times as an adult those reflexes have saved me. I've been on the streets or homeless since I was 14. Those skills are absolutely more critical than any gear you can buy.

Exactly a year ago I was attacked as a security guard on patrol. The fight got pretty intense where six cops were needed to break it up. Bad guy got arrested and I went to the hospital covered in blood. Turned out all the blood was his. I was 66 years old and a retired LEO/Soldier. I held my own due to training and attitude. I'm also 90% disabled. At 6'4" 300+ pounds I'm a tad bit heavy. In my prime I fought at 250 pounds. I would say getting to the gym and doing some running is very important. BUT even more important is your don't quit attitude. I decided as a rookie cop in 1979 that I was not ever going to lose a fight. Especially for my life. Just cause your old and a broke dick doesn't mean you have to be on the losing side.
Set alarm 54 I have 26 years as a peace officer and was a mechanic before that but most of my damage to my body came growing up on my grandparents Farm . Either way at 54 I feel like I'm 80 I like the song says I'm not as good as I once was but I'm as good once as I ever was

Funny story about hand held lights and needing them separately from your weapon light. I work with a SWAT team and we have our own rudimentary ambulance and when one of the officers tried to drive it to a scene one night he didn't know how to turn on the lights and sirens and couldn't see what buttons turned it all on. Sooo he was driving about 80mph and had his weapon light out looking at the dash trying to get the ambulance lights and sirens working.

I drive a 1992 f350 which most of the time has manure in the back of it . I have left the truck open most of the time. No one has ever stolen anything out of it including a full kit that is secured in it. So yeah most goes out of there way to avoid my truck

As a "grey man" at 4 continents I'd just advise to do your homework, do your IPB, and adjust to the locals. In other words, don't dress Kabul while being in Akron, Ohio. Sometimes all your stash can expose you rather than save you. Being low visibility in a reconnaissance op can be the thin line between life and death, stashing up like Rambo can get you nowhere except in a local jail...
To conceal some of my stuff in a car during some details, I took an old bag and made a Nike template and painted that logo on it, then placed some soccer balls near it. Food for thought if you're set on having the permanent "trunk gun"

@@wtdconcepts I just used some rustoleum I had around. But do very light coatings. It'll take a couple coatings so it doesn't leak. Also I put books in the bag and pockets when painting to make a flat surface.

You can use a belly band for the medical equipment. A plain blazer if that's what others are wearing works well enough. The point about friendly shooting is valid. If you draw your weapon put it away asap. In New York City or San Francisco you leave anything in your vehicle and that includes your insurance and passenger registration it will get broken into and taken. I've seen two dollars in coin taken after they broke out a $300.00 window. I personally don't run a suppressor because I want as much shock as possible. Besides if I'm using a rifle then the philistines are in the wire and no one will care if I have one.

“Gray man” only works if you have a beta male build. I’m 6’4 with a beard, tattoos, and cauliflower ear. Never served just trained and was a local bouncer but I have so many people that assume I’m former military. Some people just stand out & it Doesn’t matter what we wear.

But some dudes who could be wearing the most "low profile" clothes will stand out or be noticed by others who seen some shit. I can be in basketball shorts, and t shirt and still have like-minded people who are trained give me a head nod or talk to me. I know I see the dude who isn't on his phone, casually aware of his surroundings and just carry's himself with slight confidence. 6'4, cauliflower ear, and tattoos. I don't care what you wear, I'm noticing you. I was talking to a dude the other day at my shop. Black pole, khakis and relaxed demeanor and in 3 seconds I noticed his body language of someone who can handle themselves, cauliflower ear and tattoos. Dude was maybe 5'7 we later talked and he's obviously a fighter and trains. He does apparel for fighters and doing merch for me soon as well. Good dude, dressed like a cable salesman but immediately thought he was capable and prepared. Which he is.
Been carrying for a long time…every day. I use the same aliengear IWB holster for the same reasons you mentioned. I carry a spare mag in a sticky sleeve in my weak side back pocket. Very easy to get to and protected from pocket ick. My flash is a fenix single AA model (forgot the number). On high, it provides a lot of light. Being an old guy, a handheld light is very useful. There’s also a good quality folder. I alternate between a ruger LC9 and an sig 365 in addition to a prestaged TQ. I keep a small blowout kit in a cargo pocket (includes the TQ). I sometimes wear a fanny pack sized for mostly just the blowout kit. I don’t mind being that “old guy with a fanny pack…. Nobody pays attention
What people forget about appendix carry, is that if you are involved in a car accident, your gun has a potential of hurting you. This was what happened to someone I knew, his pistol caused a good deal of internal damage to him, including taking out his spleen. He never completely recovered from that accident.
I’m skinny.. And I wear properly fitting clothes. I appreciate you acknowledging everyone can’t carry certain guns certain ways comfortably and it actually be concealed. I’ve had to get creative at times.
get rid of the shades, it screams cop and/or hiding something. get rid of the flannel and khaki tactical pants. wannabe gear #1. the person no one pays attention to is the slob in sweatpants. that's how you effectively do grayman. no carrying bags or suitcases. use a backpack, that screams arrested development/harmless. you have to chose, do you want to look cool or do you actually want to evaporate into the background?
@@cagneybillingsley2165an easy way to retain all of the tactical advantage of "tactical" clothes and equipment is to wear hiking gear. Trail pants and Patagonia don't scream tacticool where I live yet they're made out of the exact same material as crye. Canvas is becoming a popular material since it's moderately water and wear proof. Super helpful when you want something rugged that doesn't scream tactical.

The city I live in has the outskirts full of military bases an the center is liberal. And alot of small towns around it. So depending on whether I am down town or out in one of the small towns informs my dress. My hometown has two large express ways so it has a lot of outsiders typically. I can tell who is passing through. Or a local. Firstly by there cars then people dress more comfortably when traveling also. Honestly if you are wearing flannel jean and a boots there’s tons of guys who think they are cowboys. Each city has multiple flavors. Know where you are going. In some places looking like a liberal makes you more of a target for robbery. Especially in the hood.
Recently added an item to my EDC that not many are looking at and are worth the thought, lock picks. A set of picks are cheap, easy to carry, and if you need them can be worth their weight in gold. Buy a set, practice, and you will see that you can become very proficient at things like raking locks open with only a few hours of practice. In an environment where civil protests or mass attacks are becoming more frequent, the idea of being able to open a lock that you can re-secure behind you becomes a pretty interesting concept.
Be mindful of local laws, I could be completely uninformed on this but I think in some areas carrying lockpicks on your person can be a crime if you're not a locksmith. Then again, concealed is concealed, don't put yourself in a position where you're getting your pockets emptied by a cop.

@@deadbrocks Absolutely. Local laws are really where it comes into play. Some states and local laws have no issue with picks unless using them in a crime, much like bolt cutters or wrecking bar. However other states or counties just the possession could be "possession of an instrument of crime" or some wording like that. I typically don't EDC picks, but do have a 4 way key for water sources and box access being an urban environment. This gives me water in a 9/11 level event or other large scale attack without needing much else to get water access if vehicle egress is unlikely and I'm on foot. Nalgene bottles, small low profile backpack with these items is my go to. I do have some tools like Firefighting tools of Babylon shove knive and door plastic. This will open most anything I need to access. Most cheap padlocks are easily defeated without picks, most doors can be bypassed with basic tools on your person that are multi use (unless deadbolted but rarely have I gone through a scenario of needing to bypass/pick a deadbolt.) Bumping and bumpkey/w bump rings on your keys might be a lower profile option for EDC. Same with mini combs or jigglers.. just some things off the top of my head for adding to my own EDC since you made me think about more shit to carry 😂
@@donjohn1620This is true. I do know someone who going into a theater/venue/comedy club depending on the day with security who were off duty LE get questioned about a Bogota Ti 2 pc set he would EDC. Basically accused of trying to break into shit at the venue or other criminal activity prior or after the event. Dude knew the laws and was basically fighting to not have them confiscated. Finally local PD did confirm that unless he was using them illegally, he wasn't breaking the law. I know plenty of people stateside and overseas who carried those exact picks and no one ever knew what they were. I don't typically carry my picks, I do occasionally driving for training work, if I'm going to be sitting in a hotel between days I'll pick some padlocks, random locks I have laying around. Test some bypass prevention methods where I'm staying. That's all stuff packed in a box and not on body. I EDC in my backpack a small 4 way water key and locks for water access points. This has helped at classes where water is locked, also on worst-case scenario in a large scale event I can access a water panel on a building for drinkable water if I need to hoof it like we saw in 9/11. I've considered a pick and comb card that is a small card. Keep one broken apart to practice with and one to carry. I have one I've been meaning to try that was gifted to me. I agree 99% of people will have no idea what they're looking at on many tools. If you have them in a soft case you can put some random company for electronics repair or something on it. Any diversion is a good idea for most gear when possible. I've seen camera stickers or golf stickers on larger Pelican cases. Still high value which is not ideal but immediately getting off a plane you aren't advertising you have multiples guns to everyone.
Very good points on everything with very good reasoning. I spoke several years ago when the ferguson rioting was going about what you wear and people didnt just understand. Magpul shirts any pro gun shirt is a dead give away. Your not concealing if your advertising lol. You had me at (flip-flops)= victim shoes best thing ever it needs a shirt. Ive shared that with my kids and wife about open toe shoe scenarios. If you ever have a car breakdown or a situation you have to run or go through the woods you will not last long. Regarding FOS medical: if you have a belt, you have a tourniquet. If you have a shirt, you have bandages. If you have a sharp knife, you have shears and a scalpel. If you have training and practice regularly, you can keep the bleeding slowed. First On Scene kits I see for sale tend to be specialized instead of swiss army knives. You don't need aspirin, blood glucose monitors and a blood pressure cuff to keep someone from bleeding out. And it's not your job to stabilize a room full of patients like a doctor in a triage ward. You keep them alive long enough for properly equipped EMTs to arrive, tell them what you did, what you know about the injuries and get out of the way. Might even get your belt back. I am in Philadelphia and I find that a lot of people, "normal" students homeless whatever carry back packs and so they are just so common that carrying even a military style does jump out. Many people are pushing shopping carts and I like that. Layers of clothes are common and I do not care for "gray man" either. The idea of it is, I am not a threat and I am not worth a second look. I think that if things go really bad it will not matter though because the real bandits will act like sifts and want to check all bags for anything of value. I subscribe to dirt ball. Looking really dirty and then a lot of people do not even feel it is worth it to make any contact due to disease is also good. Nice neat and clean is viewed as someone who might have something. Hobo, bum, scrapper, dirt ball thumbs up.

Might consider taking it a bit easier on the old guys. After all we are the ones that got you to where you are now. We also gave you a base line for improvement and refinement of the old ways. Not everything new is better and I see a lot of foolishness that doesn't solve the problem any better than what we did. Remember the old ways that you so easily dismiss were protecting you and your family when you were just a kid. For the most part, we did pretty well on balance. If you are good enough, smart enough, well equiped and trained enough and, often discounted, lucky enough, one day you will be an old guy too! Definitely different things work for different people. I can’t carry on my side. Jabs into me and is just awkward. Just isn’t comfortable with my body shape (only a 30” waste.) but in apendix it sits “in my lap” and the muzzle (g19) sits just above..the goods. So when I bend or sit it doesn’t jab into me down there. Medium shirts a little tight. L shirts fit a little better while carry but doesn’t look ridiculous. Can draw in places where getting to your side is just more difficult to do. Possible just harder. Works for me.
My daily kit has been the same since 2016. I’ve had the same under armor drawstring backpack forever. It was my highschool backpack, my pond hopping bag and now it’s my daily carry bag and it has been abused its entire life. It’s the best bag hands down.
For mag pocket carry - check out the Ammo Armor sleeves. Great for pocket carry, also for those “glove box mags”. Practice with them, but one great technique is to “bite” the sleeve to remove mag quickly with one hand (for tac reload). Good stuff.
The flip side of being alert is that if you overdo it you stand out. Easiest way to spot people who carry a gun for a living is to look for who is swiveling their necks. Good surveilance starts with paying attention without looking like youre paying attention.
This is America there is camouflage all over in are society among civilians. From Gucci camouflage to hunting camouflage and military surpluss from sneakers to backpack to hats. Like the presentation says no one is really looking.
That alien gear hybrid holster is excellent. Because it does disappear so well, I've found reholstering a little slower and difficult. For EDC that's irrelevant. But for something like IDPA or dry fire reps, not so good.
I used to wear a 3A ballistic polo shirt for "grey man" security work. Also had a 511 Tactical ABR Plate Carrier that concealed as a "duffle bag" but unzipped as a loaded PC.
I really don't have any issues with carrying appendix, its way more comfortable with a tier 1 concealed "sidecar" holster, way more stable, and its the only way i can carry in a tshirt without printing
I found that Blackhawk! (yeah them) has a slick carrier that works well for low vis and I think I picked up a few for $35 bucks. Good stitching, bartack stitching. My old Beez Combat Systems slick PC did the job back in the day and it's still 110% serviceable and coyote tan back when coyote tan was a color, which I don't care about because it was worn under a loose-fitting button-down or polo shirt . If I need mags, I use a bank robber chest rig, 5 x M4 mags (IIRC), and a super slimmed-down gsw kit.
What is your EDC knife and why? I like a good quality karambit with a E. wave (3"'). In some states like N.Y. anything but a fixed knife less than 4"s is illegal. With the way things are going "pat downs" will become more common.
It’s refreshing to hear such a prominent voice in this arena speak honestly about appendix carry, and so gracefully. Most of us are in and out of cars all day, and sitting down in various other situations throughout the day. That alone has always had me scratching my head as to why it’s so popular to push appendix carry(I guess people are worried about printing?), and why the spergs adopted it as strict dogma. I’m a taller thinner guy myself and it’s still shitty, especially in a car with your seatbelt fastened. It IS uncomfortable, and it IS inconvenient for the most part when it comes to drawing from there. I maintain roughly the same speed from my IWB at 3/4 o clock as I do with my “duty rig”, for what it’s worth from an internet stranger… and it’s not pointed at my “member” nor my femoral artery all day(not that I really worry about random NDs, but if we’re all honest, it can’t help but there in the back of our heads). I maintain my peace of mind and don’t worry about printing a full sized duty gun on my hip. 🫡 Thanks for the content.
The best gun to carry is the one you train with and are most proficient with and make sure to train with your concealed holster, drawing the firearm is just as important in the moment, I have luckily never been in a situation where I needed to draw my gun but I do know how important the muscle memory will be if the day comes.
A light with a strike bezel is a great tool. You can often carry a flashlight into places you can’t take a gun or even a pocketknife. & a light is great for defense.
Appendix became much more comfortable when l lost weight and tightened up my body at the gym. 250 and powerlifter to 160 and cut, 6'0. I hated appendix before but did it anyway. To each their own and I agree with the consistency and comfort being a huge factor especially when you want to be consistent about carrying everywhere.
Gucci gear rules. Mainly 5.11 tactical pants and now that they have different styles. It’s hard to tell that they are tactical. When it comes to foot wear. Original Swat . Makes a good tactical tennis shoe. Two main styles, a low cut and an 8 inch zip.
What works for you is always important, personally appendix carry best for me, slim dude only way I can legit conceal… also if I carry on my back it causes issues for my back when I’m not standing
Great breakdown on gear and why. A few things I've tested and beat on. Some things recommend to me from guys like Joe from Gray Fighter. (Great Dude) and other guys I've worked with who abuse gear. I typically have cargo shorts or pants on. Not uncommon for my area and doesn't stand out. Summer is camo cargo shorts for nearly everyone in my area. It's the Philly Wally World Special. 😂 For on body medical I've EDC'd a SOF-T in a Phlster Flatpack TQ carrier on my belt. I've worn this specific one for 4-5 years+ daily and probably 1000 hours in scenarios for TacMed training with a training TQ in it for students to apply. I swear by these. I have 4 others now. One soft looped for pocket carry in a suit or belt line print is more visible. Others with molle locks for classes or my own plate carrier. This carrier and TQ combo is my go to no matter what I'm wearing or doing. I perfer this TQ over the CAT for self and buddy aid. Also for a leg wound, having a clip is a HUGE benefit to unclip and clip, pull slack and turn. Immediately ready vs trying to lift a wounded limb which doesnt always work In my experience. Clip and being staged correctly allows rapid use and work around limbs faster than a CAT. I keep CATs for others where 2 hands are typically available. I train on both and earlier models but that's what works for concealment at on body. For additional medical i pocket carry either the Phlster PEW (Pocket Emergency Wallet) or Tactical Outdoors low profile FAK In a pocket. Vacuum sealed is a stripped down of packaging Z fold gauze, packaged Celox and Celox rapid ribbon, Sentinel Chest seals and 2 pairs of gloves. The Sentinel chest seals are the smallest, and most easy to carry compared to even Hyfin Compact. I carry 2 in the space of 1 hyfin. I occasionally throw a Cleer compact pressure dressing in my pocket or an ETD but both are bulkier than i like for on body. They have a place but Celox, Gauze and TQ are primary. The vacuum sealed stuff is stagged to tear open easily and reduce footprint. You're immediately getting antibiotics in the ED so opening and vac sealing seems to be better than not carrying it because of space. I do add more depending on where I'm going and the 2nd Flatpack is great for this for a pocket while remaining deployable 1 handed. Shockcord on these can be under high stress can be broken, but I've never broken it in heavy daily use, only in a real world threat and it was pulled off with a purpose. I know these were designed with plain clothes in mind to still have some medical on your person. I believe Gray Fighter makes something for TQs also. I haven't tried it yet. He makes some killer products for all kinds of covert gear carry. For things like running into a situation *not recommend* or other scenarios where you don't want to get identified as the threat. For off duty LEO, EMS with Tacmed/Active threat training who happen to be in a situation. Gray Fighter makes the roll up ID panels for Police, Medic and Sheriff's with front and back panels, with reflective lettering. This is for plain clothes and off duty. I believe VisiBlue is talking about making some Hi Viz stuff for EMS in the future, not just police. These are an option for EMS who carry and are already in the situation, don't have family with them and could possibly help. The Gray Fighter panel's are great because they're where panels would be on plates when worn and immediately where your eyes would track to firing a center mass shot, so ID'd before getting shot with those. All about the edge, pokie stabby things. G10 and steel is basically 7 days a week for me. It's 0400 and I'm working in knives while listening and watching this. Jeans, vans, a black&white graphic tee, a watch, and an appendix carry weapon. I dress like anyone else because I am anyone else. Pockets: flashlight, knife, tiny pliers, extra g43 9 rd mag. Amazon backpack: TQ, gear pouch with odds and ends, battery pack, dude wipes, wera tool check plus, home made first aid kit/meds. Maybe a gaming laptop with controllers/headset
I don’t remember why I started off appendix carrying before trying anything else, I think it was the quickest draw for me, but I’ve never carried any other way. I’ve tried the other ways and just could not do it. I felt awkward, and I don’t like how I have to use the same hand that I draw with to first pull up the shirt, I feel like I draw much quicker appendix. I never had to change the size of my shirts or pants or belt. It’s so comfortable for me that I don’t even think about it, or I’m so used to it, it doesn’t matter. And it doesn’t interfere with my junk because it’s offset in the groin, not flattening my dick. And I have a spare mag on the exact opposite groin. Body types really do seem to matter with comfortability, and I’m not talking fat and skinny. There are obviously slight differences in everyone’s body in one way or another.
One thing that I,ve noticed on videos is when loading a magazine, most dont remind people is not to push on the bullet itself .its easy to do and not notice that . But a few thousands of an inch can increase chamber pressures to an unsafe levels. One thing I tell everybody who wants to “fix holes” or dive in and be the medical first responder, Is that you risk being injured very very badly or killed by responding cops. This happens disturbingly often. Cop will go charging onto a situation typically with the blinders on and to them everyone in the AO is the enemy, everyone is a threat, everyone is to be taken down. Quite frankly, I stop and assess a traumatic situation before I even consider getting involved. If there’s time for me to get on with 911 and clearly explain that a person with my description is the first responder, and not a part of the problem, I will, but it’s very rare you’re gonna get this. When you decide to engage as a first responder in a situation, you do so at your own risk.

I agree and as my family owns several Great Pyrenees. The only issue is typically with a protector mindset citizen. They will typically be more fit and have behavior like an awareness of surroundings, confidence. A deliberate pace. That can indicate a person’s mindset.

Love NeoMags, especially the deep ones, if your mags have metal in them, like Glocks. I'm in SoCal, so I love cargo shorts. Carry two tourniquet in one pocket, hemo, chest seals, combat dressing, shears, sharpie and gloves in a zip lock bag in the other. No one knows what's there. With long pants, ankle kits work well, unless you wear gay skinny jeans. I prefer putting the tourniquet in a fluffy sock, then put that in my sock. Love that option and it's free.

Been appendix carrying for years, i prefer it vs back side carry since my shirt rides up when I get out of the car and stand up. My issue is that iwb mag carriers ride too high and loaded mags seem to lean out and print too easily
Tier one has the MSPRO series of holsters and mag caddies, developed in conjunction with Modern Samurai. The mag caddies will angle sideways some I put a 24 round in it and it settles nicely pretty close to the belt line. Makes it much easier to conceal.
I appreciate the video and will watch the whole thing, but, and this is HUGE, Us in the city/urban world do not buy our clothes at the same shops. it is not that people are not paying attention, it is that there is NO NORMAL dress code. Everyone does not shop at the GAP, old Navy or whatever. Please don't belittle your observation, there is more to it than you think. Carry one.
As a guy who is just a concealed carrier I consider my sidearm to be my main duty weapon and I train myself to shoot it like my full size duty weapon... since it kinda is .
I worked DoS dignitary and UHNW protection ALL over the world... middle east, stans, asia, s. america, mexico, israel, europe, africa, n america... all over. It was ALWAYS about being low key, blending (as much as you could) and AVOIDANCE. Let me say that again - AVOIDANCE! Rarely did we carry outside of the U.S. (Stans, ME, parts of Africa were the exception). Prior threat intellegence and advance surveillance detection were our strongest attributes.

I've just in the last few months come to realize that most people, and by most I mean probably 80-85% of people really don't pay any attention to anyone or anything around them. It's just always come so naturally to me that I just assumed everyone was like me. But it's really true most people don't know anything is out of place until it's happening. And I've noticed that a lot of people don't really think that violence is real. They seem to think it's something that happens in movies or in New York City or something. I've seen where people are obviously about to get down and other people are milling around or even standing there running their mouth at the person who's obviously about to do something wild. Because they've just never been exposed to it in real life. And they're always in total disbelief when it happens.
However, I'd say it's very difficult unless you've been taught, (and I haven't) to know who the people who *ARE* paying attention are.

Here in the western Carolinas, my low vis jacket is a Carhartt. Pair of jeans and a farm jacket will let you walk around just about anywhere. I love some of my high speed gear, but unless I'm in the woods, the camo is much more conspicuous than dirty workwear.

A good cheap way to carry mags is the small sleeves for reading glasses. They can be had at thrift stores or the dollar store. The foam padded cotton sleeves. Not the hard cases with a hinge.
I just realized the number of useful items you could jam in those things and it look inconspicuous. Thanks for the idea.

Exactly a year ago I was attacked as a security guard on patrol. The fight got pretty intense where six cops were needed to break it up. Bad guy got arrested and I went to the hospital covered in blood.
Turned out all the blood was his.
I was 66 years old and a retired LEO/Soldier.
I held my own due to training and attitude. I'm also 90% disabled. At 6'4" 300+ pounds I'm a tad bit heavy. In my prime I fought at 250 pounds.
I would say getting to the gym and doing some running is very important. BUT even more important is your don't quit attitude. I decided as a rookie cop in 1979 that I was not ever going to lose a fight. Especially for my life. Just cause your old and a broke dick doesn't mean you have to be on the losing side.

Funny story about hand held lights and needing them separately from your weapon light. I work with a SWAT team and we have our own rudimentary ambulance and when one of the officers tried to drive it to a scene one night he didn't know how to turn on the lights and sirens and couldn't see what buttons turned it all on. Sooo he was driving about 80mph and had his weapon light out looking at the dash trying to get the ambulance lights and sirens working.

I drive a 1992 f350 which most of the time has manure in the back of it . I have left the truck open most of the time. No one has ever stolen anything out of it including a full kit that is secured in it. So yeah most goes out of there way to avoid my truck

To conceal some of my stuff in a car during some details, I took an old bag and made a Nike template and painted that logo on it, then placed some soccer balls near it. Food for thought if you're set on having the permanent "trunk gun"

@@wtdconcepts I just used some rustoleum I had around. But do very light coatings. It'll take a couple coatings so it doesn't leak. Also I put books in the bag and pockets when painting to make a flat surface.

You can use a belly band for the medical equipment. A plain blazer if that's what others are wearing works well enough.

In New York City or San Francisco you leave anything in your vehicle and that includes your insurance and passenger registration it will get broken into and taken. I've seen two dollars in coin taken after they broke out a $300.00 window.

But some dudes who could be wearing the most "low profile" clothes will stand out or be noticed by others who seen some shit.
I can be in basketball shorts, and t shirt and still have like-minded people who are trained give me a head nod or talk to me. I know I see the dude who isn't on his phone, casually aware of his surroundings and just carry's himself with slight confidence. 6'4, cauliflower ear, and tattoos. I don't care what you wear, I'm noticing you. I was talking to a dude the other day at my shop. Black pole, khakis and relaxed demeanor and in 3 seconds I noticed his body language of someone who can handle themselves, cauliflower ear and tattoos. Dude was maybe 5'7 we later talked and he's obviously a fighter and trains. He does apparel for fighters and doing merch for me soon as well. Good dude, dressed like a cable salesman but immediately thought he was capable and prepared. Which he is.
Been carrying for a long time…every day. I use the same aliengear IWB holster for the same reasons you mentioned. I carry a spare mag in a sticky sleeve in my weak side back pocket. Very easy to get to and protected from pocket ick. My flash is a fenix single AA model (forgot the number). On high, it provides a lot of light. Being an old guy, a handheld light is very useful. There’s also a good quality folder. I alternate between a ruger LC9 and an sig 365 in addition to a prestaged TQ. I keep a small blowout kit in a cargo pocket (includes the TQ). I sometimes wear a fanny pack sized for mostly just the blowout kit.
I don’t mind being that “old guy with a fanny pack…. Nobody pays attention
What people forget about appendix carry, is that if you are involved in a car accident, your gun has a potential of hurting you. This was what happened to someone I knew, his pistol caused a good deal of internal damage to him, including taking out his spleen. He never completely recovered from that accident.

I love my carpenter jeans. Loose fiting and easily conceals a SOF-T, spare mag, or any number of things in the side pockets.
I’m skinny.. And I wear properly fitting clothes. I appreciate you acknowledging everyone can’t carry certain guns certain ways comfortably and it actually be concealed. I’ve had to get creative at times.
get rid of the shades, it screams cop and/or hiding something. get rid of the flannel and khaki tactical pants. wannabe gear #1. the person no one pays attention to is the slob in sweatpants. that's how you effectively do grayman. no carrying bags or suitcases. use a backpack, that screams arrested development/harmless. you have to chose, do you want to look cool or do you actually want to evaporate into the background?
@@cagneybillingsley2165an easy way to retain all of the tactical advantage of "tactical" clothes and equipment is to wear hiking gear. Trail pants and Patagonia don't scream tacticool where I live yet they're made out of the exact same material as crye.
Canvas is becoming a popular material since it's moderately water and wear proof. Super helpful when you want something rugged that doesn't scream tactical.

The city I live in has the outskirts full of military bases an the center is liberal. And alot of small towns around it. So depending on whether I am down town or out in one of the small towns informs my dress. My hometown has two large express ways so it has a lot of outsiders typically. I can tell who is passing through. Or a local. Firstly by there cars then people dress more comfortably when traveling also. Honestly if you are wearing flannel jean and a boots there’s tons of guys who think they are cowboys. Each city has multiple flavors. Know where you are going. In some places looking like a liberal makes you more of a target for robbery. Especially in the hood.

Recently added an item to my EDC that not many are looking at and are worth the thought, lock picks. A set of picks are cheap, easy to carry, and if you need them can be worth their weight in gold. Buy a set, practice, and you will see that you can become very proficient at things like raking locks open with only a few hours of practice. In an environment where civil protests or mass attacks are becoming more frequent, the idea of being able to open a lock that you can re-secure behind you becomes a pretty interesting concept.
Be mindful of local laws, I could be completely uninformed on this but I think in some areas carrying lockpicks on your person can be a crime if you're not a locksmith. Then again, concealed is concealed, don't put yourself in a position where you're getting your pockets emptied by a cop.
@@deadbrocks I think most people don’t know what they are looking at. I fly commercially with my picks in my carry on and they fit the criteria of a tool under 6”.
@@deadbrocks Absolutely. Local laws are really where it comes into play. Some states and local laws have no issue with picks unless using them in a crime, much like bolt cutters or wrecking bar. However other states or counties just the possession could be "possession of an instrument of crime" or some wording like that. I typically don't EDC picks, but do have a 4 way key for water sources and box access being an urban environment. This gives me water in a 9/11 level event or other large scale attack without needing much else to get water access if vehicle egress is unlikely and I'm on foot. Nalgene bottles, small low profile backpack with these items is my go to.
I do have some tools like Firefighting tools of Babylon shove knive and door plastic. This will open most anything I need to access. Most cheap padlocks are easily defeated without picks, most doors can be bypassed with basic tools on your person that are multi use (unless deadbolted but rarely have I gone through a scenario of needing to bypass/pick a deadbolt.)
Bumping and bumpkey/w bump rings on your keys might be a lower profile option for EDC. Same with mini combs or jigglers.. just some things off the top of my head for adding to my own EDC since you made me think about more shit to carry 😂
@@donjohn1620This is true. I do know someone who going into a theater/venue/comedy club depending on the day with security who were off duty LE get questioned about a Bogota Ti 2 pc set he would EDC. Basically accused of trying to break into shit at the venue or other criminal activity prior or after the event. Dude knew the laws and was basically fighting to not have them confiscated. Finally local PD did confirm that unless he was using them illegally, he wasn't breaking the law. I know plenty of people stateside and overseas who carried those exact picks and no one ever knew what they were.
I don't typically carry my picks, I do occasionally driving for training work, if I'm going to be sitting in a hotel between days I'll pick some padlocks, random locks I have laying around. Test some bypass prevention methods where I'm staying. That's all stuff packed in a box and not on body. I EDC in my backpack a small 4 way water key and locks for water access points. This has helped at classes where water is locked, also on worst-case scenario in a large scale event I can access a water panel on a building for drinkable water if I need to hoof it like we saw in 9/11.
I've considered a pick and comb card that is a small card. Keep one broken apart to practice with and one to carry. I have one I've been meaning to try that was gifted to me.
I agree 99% of people will have no idea what they're looking at on many tools. If you have them in a soft case you can put some random company for electronics repair or something on it. Any diversion is a good idea for most gear when possible. I've seen camera stickers or golf stickers on larger Pelican cases. Still high value which is not ideal but immediately getting off a plane you aren't advertising you have multiples guns to everyone.

Very good points on everything with very good reasoning. I spoke several years ago when the ferguson rioting was going about what you wear and people didnt just understand. Magpul shirts any pro gun shirt is a dead give away. Your not concealing if your advertising lol. You had me at (flip-flops)= victim shoes best thing ever it needs a shirt. Ive shared that with my kids and wife about open toe shoe scenarios. If you ever have a car breakdown or a situation you have to run or go through the woods you will not last long. Mississippi is louisiana's second hot cousin, asphalt gets hot imagine evading or running in flip-flops its over. Keep up the content viable and usable as always. God bless dude.
Regarding FOS medical: if you have a belt, you have a tourniquet. If you have a shirt, you have bandages. If you have a sharp knife, you have shears and a scalpel. If you have training and practice regularly, you can keep the bleeding slowed.
First On Scene kits I see for sale tend to be specialized instead of swiss army knives. You don't need aspirin, blood glucose monitors and a blood pressure cuff to keep someone from bleeding out. And it's not your job to stabilize a room full of patients like a doctor in a triage ward. You keep them alive long enough for properly equipped EMTs to arrive, tell them what you did, what you know about the injuries and get out of the way.
Might even get your belt back.

I am in Philadelphia and I find that a lot of people, "normal" students homeless whatever carry back packs and so they are just so common that carrying even a military style does jump out. Many people are pushing shopping carts and I like that. Layers of clothes are common and I do not care for "gray man" either. The idea of it is, I am not a threat and I am not worth a second look. I think that if things go really bad it will not matter though because the real bandits will act like sifts and want to check all bags for anything of value. I subscribe to dirt ball. Looking really dirty and then a lot of people do not even feel it is worth it to make any contact due to disease is also good. Nice neat and clean is viewed as someone who might have something. Hobo, bum, scrapper, dirt ball thumbs up.

Definitely different things work for different people. I can’t carry on my side. Jabs into me and is just awkward. Just isn’t comfortable with my body shape (only a 30” waste.) but in apendix it sits “in my lap” and the muzzle (g19) sits just above..the goods. So when I bend or sit it doesn’t jab into me down there. Medium shirts a little tight. L shirts fit a little better while carry but doesn’t look ridiculous. Can draw in places where getting to your side is just more difficult to do. Possible just harder. Works for me.
As a skinny dude I carry appendix. Anywhere else it feels ridiculous.
My daily kit has been the same since 2016. I’ve had the same under armor drawstring backpack forever. It was my highschool backpack, my pond hopping bag and now it’s my daily carry bag and it has been abused its entire life. It’s the best bag hands down.

I think a violin case in an f350 screams gun just as much as a magpul sticker.
For mag pocket carry - check out the Ammo Armor sleeves. Great for pocket carry, also for those “glove box mags”. Practice with them, but one great technique is to “bite” the sleeve to remove mag quickly with one hand (for tac reload). Good stuff.
Dark angel medical makes an ankle mounted ifak that’s pretty streamlined to contour to your ankle so straight leg jeans will conceal it
It also fits incredibly well in the thigh pocket of cargo shorts and just looks like a wallet
The flip side of being alert is that if you overdo it you stand out. Easiest way to spot people who carry a gun for a living is to look for who is swiveling their necks. Good surveilance starts with paying attention without looking like youre paying attention.

That alien gear hybrid holster is excellent. Because it does disappear so well, I've found reholstering a little slower and difficult. For EDC that's irrelevant. But for something like IDPA or dry fire reps, not so good.
I used to wear a 3A ballistic polo shirt for "grey man" security work. Also had a 511 Tactical ABR Plate Carrier that concealed as a "duffle bag" but unzipped as a loaded PC.
Finally someone acknowledged the downsides of AIWB. 🙌
I really don't have any issues with carrying appendix, its way more comfortable with a tier 1 concealed "sidecar" holster, way more stable, and its the only way i can carry in a tshirt without printing

I found that Blackhawk! (yeah them) has a slick carrier that works well for low vis and I think I picked up a few for $35 bucks. Good stitching, bartack stitching. My old Beez Combat Systems slick PC did the job back in the day and it's still 110% serviceable and coyote tan back when coyote tan was a color, which I don't care about because it was worn under a loose-fitting button-down or polo shirt . If I need mags, I use a bank robber chest rig, 5 x M4 mags (IIRC), and a super slimmed-down gsw kit.
What is your EDC knife and why? I like a good quality karambit with a E. wave (3"'). In some states like N.Y. anything but a fixed knife less than 4"s is illegal. With the way things are going "pat downs" will become more common.
It’s refreshing to hear such a prominent voice in this arena speak honestly about appendix carry, and so gracefully. Most of us are in and out of cars all day, and sitting down in various other situations throughout the day. That alone has always had me scratching my head as to why it’s so popular to push appendix carry(I guess people are worried about printing?), and why the spergs adopted it as strict dogma.
I’m a taller thinner guy myself and it’s still shitty, especially in a car with your seatbelt fastened. It IS uncomfortable, and it IS inconvenient for the most part when it comes to drawing from there. I maintain roughly the same speed from my IWB at 3/4 o clock as I do with my “duty rig”, for what it’s worth from an internet stranger… and it’s not pointed at my “member” nor my femoral artery all day(not that I really worry about random NDs, but if we’re all honest, it can’t help but there in the back of our heads). I maintain my peace of mind and don’t worry about printing a full sized duty gun on my hip.

The best gun to carry is the one you train with and are most proficient with and make sure to train with your concealed holster, drawing the firearm is just as important in the moment, I have luckily never been in a situation where I needed to draw my gun but I do know how important the muscle memory will be if the day comes.
A light with a strike bezel is a great tool. You can often carry a flashlight into places you can’t take a gun or even a pocketknife. & a light is great for defense.
Appendix became much more comfortable when l lost weight and tightened up my body at the gym. 250 and powerlifter to 160 and cut, 6'0. I hated appendix before but did it anyway. To each their own and I agree with the consistency and comfort being a huge factor especially when you want to be consistent about carrying everywhere.
Gucci gear rules. Mainly 5.11 tactical pants and now that they have different styles. It’s hard to tell that they are tactical. When it comes to foot wear. Original Swat . Makes a good tactical tennis shoe. Two main styles, a low cut and an 8 inch zip.
What works for you is always important, personally appendix carry best for me, slim dude only way I can legit conceal… also if I carry on my back it causes issues for my back when I’m not standing

Great breakdown on gear and why. A few things I've tested and beat on. Some things recommend to me from guys like Joe from Gray Fighter. (Great Dude) and other guys I've worked with who abuse gear.
I typically have cargo shorts or pants on. Not uncommon for my area and doesn't stand out. Summer is camo cargo shorts for nearly everyone in my area. It's the Philly Wally World Special. 😂
For on body medical I've EDC'd a SOF-T in a Phlster Flatpack TQ carrier on my belt. I've worn this specific one for 4-5 years+ daily and probably 1000 hours in scenarios for TacMed training with a training TQ in it for students to apply.
I swear by these. I have 4 others now. One soft looped for pocket carry in a suit or belt line print is more visible. Others with molle locks for classes or my own plate carrier.
This carrier and TQ combo is my go to no matter what I'm wearing or doing. I perfer this TQ over the CAT for self and buddy aid. Also for a leg wound, having a clip is a HUGE benefit to unclip and clip, pull slack and turn. Immediately ready vs trying to lift a wounded limb which doesnt always work In my experience. Clip and being staged correctly allows rapid use and work around limbs faster than a CAT. I keep CATs for others where 2 hands are typically available. I train on both and earlier models but that's what works for concealment at on body.
For additional medical i pocket carry either the Phlster PEW (Pocket Emergency Wallet) or Tactical Outdoors low profile FAK In a pocket. Vacuum sealed is a stripped down of packaging Z fold gauze, packaged Celox and Celox rapid ribbon, Sentinel Chest seals and 2 pairs of gloves. The Sentinel chest seals are the smallest, and most easy to carry compared to even Hyfin Compact. I carry 2 in the space of 1 hyfin. I occasionally throw a Cleer compact pressure dressing in my pocket or an ETD but both are bulkier than i like for on body. They have a place but Celox, Gauze and TQ are primary. The vacuum sealed stuff is stagged to tear open easily and reduce footprint. You're immediately getting antibiotics in the ED so opening and vac sealing seems to be better than not carrying it because of space.
I do add more depending on where I'm going and the 2nd Flatpack is great for this for a pocket while remaining deployable 1 handed. Shockcord on these can be under high stress can be broken, but I've never broken it in heavy daily use, only in a real world threat and it was pulled off with a purpose.
I know these were designed with plain clothes in mind to still have some medical on your person. I believe Gray Fighter makes something for TQs also. I haven't tried it yet. He makes some killer products for all kinds of covert gear carry.
For things like running into a situation *not recommend* or other scenarios where you don't want to get identified as the threat. For off duty LEO, EMS with Tacmed/Active threat training who happen to be in a situation. Gray Fighter makes the roll up ID panels for Police, Medic and Sheriff's with front and back panels, with reflective lettering. This is for plain clothes and off duty. I believe VisiBlue is talking about making some Hi Viz stuff for EMS in the future, not just police. These are an option for EMS who carry and are already in the situation, don't have family with them and could possibly help. The Gray Fighter panel's are great because they're where panels would be on plates when worn and immediately where your eyes would track to firing a center mass shot, so ID'd before getting shot with those.

I don’t remember why I started off appendix carrying before trying anything else, I think it was the quickest draw for me, but I’ve never carried any other way. I’ve tried the other ways and just could not do it. I felt awkward, and I don’t like how I have to use the same hand that I draw with to first pull up the shirt, I feel like I draw much quicker appendix. I never had to change the size of my shirts or pants or belt. It’s so comfortable for me that I don’t even think about it, or I’m so used to it, it doesn’t matter. And it doesn’t interfere with my junk because it’s offset in the groin, not flattening my dick. And I have a spare mag on the exact opposite groin. Body types really do seem to matter with comfortability, and I’m not talking fat and skinny. There are obviously slight differences in everyone’s body in one way or another.
One thing that I,ve noticed on videos is when loading a magazine, most dont remind people is not to push on the bullet itself .its easy to do and not notice that . But a few thousands of an inch can increase chamber pressures to an unsafe levels. I,m guilty of doing this and luckily I ended up with a plus p round with no damage to my pistol but enough to remind myself to watch where my thumb is when loading a magazine.

As a 6’7 220 lb lefty with “love handles” I also side or kidney carry. If I’m not comfortable, I’m not carrying.
One thing I tell everybody who wants to “fix holes” or dive in and be the medical first responder, Is that you risk being injured very very badly or killed by responding cops. This happens disturbingly often. Cop will go charging onto a situation typically with the blinders on and to them everyone in the AO is the enemy, everyone is a threat, everyone is to be taken down.
Quite frankly, I stop and assess a traumatic situation before I even consider getting involved. If there’s time for me to get on with 911 and clearly explain that a person with my description is the first responder, and not a part of the problem, I will, but it’s very rare you’re gonna get this.
When you decide to engage as a first responder in a situation, you do so at your own risk.

I agree and as my family owns several Great Pyrenees. The only issue is typically with a protector mindset citizen. They will typically be more fit and have behavior like an awareness of surroundings, confidence. A deliberate pace. That can indicate a person’s mindset.

I'm in SoCal, so I love cargo shorts. Carry two tourniquet in one pocket, hemo, chest seals, combat dressing, shears, sharpie and gloves in a zip lock bag in the other. No one knows what's there. With long pants, ankle kits work well, unless you wear gay skinny jeans. I prefer putting the tourniquet in a fluffy sock, then put that in my sock. Love that option and it's free.

Been appendix carrying for years, i prefer it vs back side carry since my shirt rides up when I get out of the car and stand up. My issue is that iwb mag carriers ride too high and loaded mags seem to lean out and print too easily

Tier one has the MSPRO series of holsters and mag caddies, developed in conjunction with Modern Samurai. The mag caddies will angle sideways some I put a 24 round in it and it settles nicely pretty close to the belt line. Makes it much easier to conceal.
Jm custom kydex makes a dedicated aiwb mag pouch that has extra length added to prevent roll outs

I worked DoS dignitary and UHNW protection ALL over the world... middle east, stans, asia, s. america, mexico, israel, europe, africa, n america... all over. It was ALWAYS about being low key, blending (as much as you could) and AVOIDANCE. Let me say that again - AVOIDANCE! Rarely did we carry outside of the U.S. (Stans, ME, parts of Africa were the exception). Prior threat intellegence and advance surveillance detection were our strongest attributes.
