- When Goodwood asked Duncan Pittaway to demonstrate his Bill Thomas Cheetah at the Festival of Speed they probably din't realise it was still a pile of pieces on the garage floor. With two months to go, Duncan decided it might be a good idea to start putting it together.
The car is one of the first two cars - which were aluminium bodied. Built with GM to take on the Cobras, it uses their small-block engine and has some very special parts sourced from the competitions department. Авто/Мото
Gorgeous car. I never realized they put the fuel tanks right in the side impact zone 😳
A common practice for single seaters too. I suppose it doesn't affect the balance too much as it empties :)
Great Video !
Thanks!
Amazing that all those weeks flew by with what appeared like little progress. What we didn’t see was all the work being done in the background. Did you set the camera up every day?
I left a spare camera clamped to a girder - with a long cable release for the shutter. I asked them to take a picture every time they did something significant - or if they were just passing the button. I did the same on the Fiat film. Sometimes I'd spot bits of animation they'd done - or the little murder scene :)
❤️❤️❤️
Mantap, nexttttttttttttttttttttt
Very beautiful vehicle. May I ask for cheetah dimensions? How to know info and build that car?
It's an amazing thing. Only the first two were made in metal. Quite a few were made afterwards with fibreglass bodies. There are some dimensions etc here... www.dlg.speedfreaks.org/archive/cars/cheetah/cheetah.php
Nice Crackle ! Is that an Ole Yeller behind it?
It is! Fabulous car :) (The Cheetah sound even better now it has the proper engine - loudest car at Goodwood :)

I understand the car did well against the Cobra until GM pulled out. Too bad.
