- A quick timelapse of all the work we've done on the front end of the GC8 rally car over the last few weeks. A lot of fabricating and details crammed into this short video and it definitely made it seem much easier than it was!
All the material used to construct it consisted of
1/8th plate mild steel
1.5" .095 Wall DOM
.5" .065 Wall DOM
More updates will be coming shortly and I'm excited to start moving on to the body work of the rally car. Hopefully I'll get the paint/bodywork all knocked out before it gets too cold out.

You’re a real inspiration to us garage guys
Wow looks really good. Feels better seeing a finished product and not a mangled front end.
Yeah it does, now I just have another 75 tasks to complete lol
This deserves more attention ♡
Thanks and maybe one day one video will take off, Haha!
@@DirtyGarage its so sad that people arent into gc8 content as much, its probably because they are a lot rarer and the blob eye and later are a lot better to drive and modify 😒 there are like 3 channels that continue to build gc8s and 1 of them swapped it for a pulsar gtir like last week...
@Sullivan Randall please remember that's not really nice
That was absolute epic!!
You absolutely have the passion, really excited for the next video.
Inspirational channel, not boring even if you watch it over and over again👍
Fantastic work, well done 👍
Good work man, love your timelapse vids.
Thanks man, it was fun seeing this one come together!
This is amazing.
Hei. I new here...👀 frist time in my life I comments🤣🤣 but so mutch thanke you! Dont finiš only go same!🚀🚀🚀
Excellent work mate
Thanks for sharing.
Cutting a front end must be dawmting but your fully onto it good work, your a excellent fabricator.👍
amazing work 👍👍👍
very well made, a nice and clean job
I enjoyed watching it.. thanx for the video..
Cool work. ... I'd worry If i changed heavy impacts into a totaled chassis. since energy is going into the bulkhead, not the core support and fenders... But if it's light is a win, if you can work on it better it's a win(unbolts), and if it's sacrificial damage it's a win.
That's definitely true about the hard impacts and /i thought about it a lot but I figured anything hard enough to do that would mess the frame up either way. All the other reasons are definitely a plus though!
Liked the tube bender.
Love it continu the good work
thanks man!
AMAZINGNES!!!
great video! one thing i would do differently video production wise is every now and then give a brief summery of whats happening on screen, like right here i'm using this tool to do that thing.... or whenever there was a bit of a problem that you had to solve and how you worked around it. you have a nice voice to so hearing you talk once every few minutes would be very nice. once again great video and i cant wait for updates
Support American Rally Drivers!
Thanks so much for posting this - sort of a "Table of Contents" for the separate videos! Could you add a "materials used" table - plate thickness, tubing diameter and wall thickness, etc?? Keep up the great work!!
Glad you enjoyed it, I'll add that info into the description too!
@@DirtyGarage Much appreciated! 💪🏻
Twin roof vents seeming your more than qualified😁👍😎
Muy genial ☺
Rad video, Awesome fabrication.
Did you check how much weight you managed to shed?
If it wasn't seemingly a lot it would be weight in front of the axles. We are looking at ways to reduce weight in front of the wheels.
Did find the car behaved any differently? Perhaps less understeer prone?
Looks great! What class do you race your subaru in and did you need any clarification with ARA/NASA rally rules in regards to a tube front clip?
Amazing fabrication! (If you ever sell this car, I want it).
💎
i wish i could go back a few months and do this to my car. i paid far too much for a front end of another car, and wasted far too much time drilling out spot welds :(
Where are you out of? I'm trying to get my rally build set for 2021 and of course looking for guys around my area to BS with.
Cut the chasis ? Wow
5:22 you know these upright cds tubes youve just fitted, you shouldve taken it up and curved it and welded it to the top strut. reason i say this is you have no upwards strength on that bumper support, what i mean by that is one good jump or smash and that front end will curl up. also if you tie it into ur strut top then your radiotor support will be in a much stronger position to except any brackets you plan to fit in order to put on what we british call a sump guard, i think u americans all call them a pan ( where ur engine oil sits 🤣)
This video doesn't actually show the completed front end and I added in supports that support the front end a bit better. I think if I redid the design I would do it completely differently now that I have had time to think about it though.
what time do I bring my gc8 over?
What's the probe of metal used on this cage?
Great job man, but what type of car regulation you followed? Cause this Is not permitt here in europe in rally cars. Just in RX cars, not in rally. Thsnks
It was quick, but in a couple shots I see various materials clamped on the stock being bent. I'm not sure I've seen this and I'm just learning to use my bender. Do you have a video that maybe covers that technique or can you give me a cliff notes of what's going on there?
Are you referencing the offset angle gauge I use that is clamped to the tube or were you talking about when I was bending the smaller tubes and was using a piece of square tubing on the bender?
@@DirtyGarage - at 1:58, you've got the smaller material through the die, then some larger material between the ram and pin. Does this allow you to bend smaller diameter material with a larger die?
@@bennybaldwin2627 that’s only because my 1/2” die doesn’t have any drive holes in it for the pin that normal would engage the arm.
It works fine with the bender in a manual configuration, but with the hydraulic set up it doesn’t work unless I get creative. Which is what you saw in the video with the material attached to the die.
When is your next event?
Hopefully in two months if I get the car back together in time!
WILL PLEASE HURRY UP!
We need some new updates
looks fragile, but light.
Wow, I didn't know rally cars were designed to throw water and mud into the engine bay.
I hear people make these things called wheel well liners 😮
