This guy has carved out a niche market for himself, and is clearly doing pretty damn well for himself. goood on him.
No flies on these irish boys, some serious operators.
We know a thing or two 😜
I love that they put in subtitles even though there all speaking English 😂🇮🇪💪
Shame they're machine-translated. Perspex, not Prospects.... Opel Astra, not Opal Astro...
Inclusion for deaf people is always nice
@@MathcartneySure, if that’s why they did it. But they’re not subbing the American guy.
@@GingerPiston just for americans who dont understand so well 🇮🇪
It would be less insulting if they had the right words he was saying at the bottom of the screen
I'm actually the one who recommended KG to Larry when he was over for the LZ fest!!!! Larry's original shoot didn't go ahead for some reason and he was looking for recommendations, I told him about KG and here we are. I'm quite proud of this haha
Thank you so much for your suggestion!
This was my fav video I’ve ever that Larry has made…. Wow how cool?!
Anyone know how much those cars cost? Like I’m over here dreaming of any of those cars making their way to me in Detroit!
@@robertfarmer6316for the factory new rally stuff that he has in stock, about $350,000, if they'll let you bring in an R5 spec Peugeot or Skoda without test crashing dozens of them. The rest is all over the map from nearly priceless to $50k.
Fair play, never thought id see Larry Chen in Ballymena hi
Definitely one of my favorite episodes so far. Growing up watching WRC when it was still easy to find in the US, and playing Gran Turismo and all the Dirt games, my inner childhood is screaming. And now I want a rally car for the street.
In GT3 I managed to finish the whole rally campaign... may have done some Ross Chastain driving though 😂
if you are fan of rally game and sims, I highly recommend the Richard Burns Rally with the NGP7. It's basically Dirt 2.0 but crank up the realism EVEN HIGHER, though the graphics is kinda outdated
no shortage of em around where I live,, couple of mexicos and a 996 gruppe 'B' daily driven by some lads.
Same, same. WRC was some of the first motorsport I watched as young man.
Buy the same year model car and park it in your backyard. Put the tag on the race car. If you get pulled over it's not like they check the VIN number.
That 240RS road car is gorgeous. Only ever seen one in Gran Turismo
Same, it was one of my favourite, I always wished for the mk2 supra rally car too.
Terry Kaby rallied one lots :)
240RS was rallied a bit here in US by BFG and steve Millen.
Nissan 240rs is very good looking car ❤
I've ridden in that exact one
This is a great introduction to KG Motorsport. These purpose built cars are at another level, not just in performance but in price.
Growing up in Ireland (Kilkenny) and driving on the back lanes when I was 17, we learned early how to drive on wet narrow roads with stone walls or thick hedges on every bend. We did not always get it right, had many a near miss tail hanging my mums Mazda 323 and my dad's Toyota Hiace van in the early 1980's around bends. The fact we survive is a wonder. Would we do it all again, "for sure"!
We were also so lucky to have the Circuit of Ireland come through Kilkenny every year, at a time when rear wheel drive was everything and the Audi Quattro had just arrived. Another world at another time!
For no reason I can explain my brain automatically read "we learned only how to drive on wet roads..." which is also true, I suppose.
Man, you sound like a proper guy to have 6-7 kilkennies with.
Two guys from such different worlds but totally the same vibe together
Passion is a massive thing and from what I can see both have it on excess.
Regarding the subtitles, as a Scottish person I know that a lot of people who are non-British find spoken English with a Scottish accent hard to understand. There are many people who speak English but are not used to the myriad accents of the British Isles for whom subtitles will be very useful. You could be Lithuanian but speak English and want to watch a car video - and you might struggle with this guy's accent. To me, he's perfectly comprehensible, but I'm a native speaker. There's no reason to be offended by the use of subtitles.
You can't please everyone 😂
Certainly as a Southern Softie Brit, I find N Ireland and Glasgow accents almost impossible to understand... and I guess they would find the same with somebody from, say, Godalming. So I can quite understand the subtitles, so I can.
I'm part deaf. Accident. Subtitles are a life blood and so are these amazing vids. Two people build those cars??!
So it is so...
It would be nice however if the subtitles were accurate. So it would.
Am a rally fan from Jamaica 🇯🇲🇯🇲 and I love how many WRC history he has in his warehouse
Stay cool an cris an irie meh brudda 😊
(Sorry I'm Turkish 😂)
This was absolutely fantastic, and he was a true gentleman for sharing this stunning collection. 😊
Experiencing a drive in a rally car is one of the most visceral experiences you can have. The performance, handling and above all the noise! Mind blowing.
For sure - that immense pull of the car, sequential gearbox and that noise. Man, what I wouldn't give to own one myself to drive!
Im so Glad yous are shining a light on our National Motorsport here in Ireland 🇮🇪 "Tarmac Rallying" Not one of us get paid to rally all of it is out of pocket some sposers might help with a few hundred quid for a few tyers a season
I’ve dealt with Kieron for a few years now and I’m happy to say that a fair few of those cars in his garage belong to me. He happily stores them for me and I use them when I go over to Ireland. It started when I bought my 6R4 from him (the one Senna drove), then it was a MK2 Escort (the grey one in there), then an ex prodrive Subaru, Manta 400 (Bertie Fishers), ex FMC Cossie, and recently I had the pleasure of buying the ex Burns/Reid Subaru. He’s a great guy and I’m sure I’ll purchase more from him over the coming years.
I love that MK2 Escort. Sick cars man!
take them home & drive them on a rota, sitting in KG , you cannot appreciate them, irrespective of all the cars you own, People dream of your dilemma
@@brianpartridge803 I do drive them, I just drive them in Ireland where they have proper rally stages. I spent most of this year racing in the Ferrari challenge series but now it’s finished I’ll be over to Ireland in November for some proper seat time.
Goodmorning.Nice collection Sir.If you ever drive by to the Netherlands with your Opel Manta 400,give me a call.Have a nice day. 😎
@@jacvanloon4209 thank you, how would I call you if I don’t know you or have your number haha. Do you want to buy the Manta or just see it?
This has been my favourite EP so far, what a humble operation this man has got going ❤
I don't think Americans fully understand the magnitude of some of those cars... In Europe back in 90's kids would give up their nuts for the Ford Sierra RS Cosworth, Subaru B22 or the Lancer Evolution VI Tommi Makinen Edition.... This video brought a lot of memories back !!! Thank you !!!!
Very easy to understand race cars but okay lol. No reason to try and gate keep things.
That Nissan 240RS was known in Australia in standard form as a Datsun Stanza. They were all 4 door versions. The hottest version for the road was the SSS model, which had twin SU carbs and headers on it's 1600cc SOHC motor. They were a spiritual successor to the Datsun 1600, also known as the 510 in other parts of the world.
Made me smile from ear to ear! Thank you for representing the rally lovers out there! WRallyC 4 Life!
Oh Larry, I’m disappointed you didn’t knew about the 240RS, I drove in one when I was 12 years old, the owner was a rally driver and the experience I still remember like it was yesterday.
We've always had a rich heritage of rally here in Ireland. It's in our blood!bertie Fisher, the donelly's,mchales..the list goes on..they are the reason I started it years ago. Its just such a pity its gotten so expensive.
Used to watch all those names on ScreenSport :) plus Frank Magher (his Nurse girlfriend helping out 🙂) Austin Machale, and Billy Coleman seemed to be the main man :) in his Rothmans 911, loved it when the factories joined them for the COI rally, Mouton, Pond, Brookes, Wilson etc, the best times, Hi from England.
@@ukqwerty999 I remember that Rothmans 911 .. it was so exotic to see a Porsche driving around Ireland on a rally stage .. and having a fellow Cork man drive it made it all the more special. Still can't beat the Manta for pure nostalgia though imo ..
This is literally my dream job, to work on, sell, and drive old rally cars 🤘🔥 I just wish the rally culture was bigger in the states. I love the rally cars from the 70s and of course group b 👌 I would sell my soul for that mk2 escort
Has the Corolla still got the smashed rear window with Moyas helmet in the back? 😄
From the Rally fans around the world being an older fan Group B monsters ruled the stages with skills on another level . For those we’ve lost and the current who grace us with there presence Thank you will never be enough! Keeping the legacy of legends alive what a collection inspired by a love of these awesome cars 🙏🏻🏴👏👏👏👏
it was bad cars and hard to drive, not efficient, you live in a fantasy
@@HTHT-pm8se Your comment doesn't make any sense 😅OP is just respecting the cars/drivers and you come up with this comment out of nowhere 😶
I worked in a WRC Rallyteam as an Engineer for 12 years. But this is still the best sounding stuff!
Excellent job Mr. Chen and thank you Mr. Graffin for your time and knowledge of these wonderful cars. Just seeing this video was awe-inspiring. :-)
I did some SCCA class C rallying in the states and Canada back in the early 90's and to this day when I do talk about it I still get goose bumps on my arms! A very exciting time in my life never to be forgotten! Great video for sure!
This shop is just crazy amazing. I never imagined, such a huge, niche specialty shop, focus: Rally cars that actually were raced.
Dazzling inventory, based on what's shown in this video.
Man ohhh man, it's a rally car history museum/dealership.
Datsun? Seriously? wow.
♥️the low key hidden style dealership,
👍😎👍🍻
This has just blown my mind. This bloke reminds me of Joey Dunlop. So down to earth and humble and yet so awesome. Coolest thing I've seen on RUclips for a long time. And the asking price for that Subaru STI. I cannot believe it.
The KG Motorsports guy is a true OG, i'm happy these masterpieces are under his surveillance. Such a cool dude.
Omg that homologation 240RS is insanity!!
My God, I absolutely love that 1st gen STI. And to hear how much they go for these days...just wow! I personally own a 97 2.2l Impreza which I can't part with just because of how well it drives. Plus I always loved the looks.
I am Scottish and understood this guy clear as day but I understand the need for the subtitles as even my fellow countrymen I struggle to understand. The collection is epic. Out of all the cars I’ll take the works prodrive peta silvery car as I was in wales in 2003 with my dad and watch home win the 2003 WRC championship. Our beloved Colin McRae nearly won it. That is very very close to my heart. F1 is not a patch on this sport.
He's a bloody likable lad. Great work too.
That collection is unreal something I don’t think I could ever get used to even working around it everyday!
I think he underplayed the true horsepower those Mantas had when he said that they produced around 250bhp. I recall reading somewhere that the last improvement version Manta that Russell Brookes used in 1987 British Rally Championship, had around 370bhp, which is impressive from 2.4 N/A engine that was long in the tooth-design already.
Yhea but they had to be shipped back to the factory in Japan to get tuned to make those numbers, out of the box they only came with 250hp
@@vonahn1 Um, that Manta was made in West Germany and tuned in UK, what are you talking about fella?
I thought you were talking about the 240 RS
The opel manta 400 rally car had 275bhp and weighed under a ton
I found my top favourite! Legacy rally car out in the back. Those are my favourite rally car, favourite sounding too.
that story of the 22B made me cry
This is why i love rally car, so competitive yet still drivable on the street
That's this kind of videos you more or less automatically click on, watching the first few seconds, then get further into and slowly start to realize how freaking unbelievable the stuff is these guys are having in their garage... just INSANE. :D
I've been watching them on their social media for years, whenever they have a new rally car in stock....it was always gonna be an interesting car that grabs my attention to it. Thanks for showing us this amazing collection of rally cars.
Never thought I'd see a lurgan-man on hagerty. Brilliant
This is excellent stuff. Non-descript no fluff just dedication to the cars. I'm glad places like this exist.
Can we all just appreciate that 22B
Yep. My cousin had one, once upon a time. He wrapped it around a pole when he ran out of talent and road. Sold the front half for parts, back half for scrap.
I just bought an EVO X, my first awd turbo. This episode just makes me 😊
Take care of that transmission
I thought only the sst was an issue, but I'm reading about the 5 speeds 4th gear popout 😬
@@Brandon-C. I always find it surprising how the Evo X 5 speed transmission was known for the issues, whereas the previous Evos, the 5 speed was the one that everyone wanted because it could handle power better.
......yergunnadie!!!!!
Oh my goodness theres some gems in there! Thanks to Kieron and crew for sharing their collection. Great content :]
That’s some amazing rally cars!
That’s unbelievable , what a dream place ! Loved every second of it , hoping more episodes on this !
Priceless racing cars! That's the crazy thing about the Goodwood races. Each race, the whole field of priceless cars. Some of these cars are one of a kind. And they are going balls to the walls, actually racing.
Yupp, stage rallye and especially WRC is just mindblowingly fast! I remember starting watching WRC as Sebastien Loeb rose up to become the dominating king of WRC. It's just so damn incredible how FAST these guys are driving inches aways from crashing their car and still are in full control. These drivers are a very special breed... 😲
And if I remember correctly there is a video called "The Evolution Of The Drift Angle". Group B was all about horsepower - WRC is all about carrying speed through corners. ✌️
Pretty much...
A Group B Rally car will excel at top speed with their high horsepower figure but a modern WRC car has a great balance between acceleration, handling, and dealing with the bumps.
As a result of that, even a modern Rally2/R5/AP4 can pretty much keep up against Gr.B during a stage. While Rally1 (and its WRC predecessor) is just on another level by being the fastest rally cars we will ever see.
I knew the guy who was part of the Toyota WRC team when those Corolla’s were built … mr Bulmer told me the whole story of getting caught tampering with the restrictiors 😂 restricters .👍 good story.. I bet KG know me bulmer … he’s know in the Uk Irish rally scene
I was at the Rally NZ where Richard Burns won in that WRX STI. It's a shame the Legacy RS's were replica's, I was hoping he had the car Colin McRae used to smash the Motu special stage record (and go from 5th overall to the outright rally lead), that is a real piece of Rally NZ history.
So interesting Thank you
Larry Chen is a godsend for the car enthusiast community, gotta say.
Will one day get over to Ireland to see some rallying, seen this guys (KG) pop up on social media loads but nice to see the face behind the brand and a bit more about the business
Yes yes yes! Love rally, great to see you visit these guys
Fun fact
The Nissan 240RS is a 2.4 litre, a FJ24.
This is heaven!!!
I have seen that Solberg car a few times in the flesh, at different cars and coffee meets in Northern Ireland. Its a stunner of a car. As well as Kierons 22B too. Kieron also comes across as a proper gentleman in the 2 or 3 times i have had brief chats with him about his cars at the meets 👍
"So let's look at that Toyota"...never were more Larry chen words spoken!

What a video ! 👌🏼 I’ve just gone down a worm hole about that AC Delco manta 400 as noticed the Manx rally stickers, and with being a Vauxhall/opel man and also a manxie I had too find clips of this in action! What a thing of beauty and their is just something quite special about watching the raw footage of the car in 84’ tearing down roads I know very well, too flicking back too this video double checking she’s the real deal 🤯🙏🏼 unbelievable 👌🏼👌🏼 can I come see it next time I’m in NI??👀

As a Czech person and basically external worker for Škoda it makes me so proud what we did in rallying especially the R5 era so I am super glad you chose our Fabia for the ride I bet Larry never saw a Škoda and got the best we ever made :D
Never seen or heard of these guys and so glad i found them .I cant afford one but the cars they have are just amazing. Love it.

That guy is amazing! His shop and inventory are amazing! You are amazing! Thank you, Larry
if only i was a few years older and had some money, i'd definitely check these out
Rally racing was big in California back in the 80s-90s, then due to the state insurance law it died down. But back then we drove rally cars during transit on the highways up in Palmdale Lancaster Antelope Valley, and also Gorman, Glen Helen. I sure miss those days.
Chen absolutely gobsmacked👍💪
If I ever won the lottery, I would go straight to this guy's shop and buy everything he has
The guy has cars from Solberg, Burns, Makinen and McRae. WOW!!!
and Bertie Fisher ..
So entertaining 👌🏼 What a facility to film. I can’t imagine trying to split and determine what to film most, ask questions about. You could almost have an episode per car!
I am from Cyprus and i remember hearing about the 22b geting sold, glad its in good hands.
What a awesome guy I could listen to him talk all day so cool I always loved watching Rally Racing....
