I love how it’s no planning or anything but rather they just build it, no manual or looking anything up. That’s how you see they know what they are doing. All the parts fit right away because some smart people constructed everything and optimized it for exactly that purpose. I liked how most of the stuff is just hand tight and not even torqued to a specific value, only torquing what’s really important to get right like the brakes and wheels. Once you are at that point it’s easy but getting to that point is where this magic was enabled. Chapeau
Having entered the Alzenau facilities, within a professional context, had the honour (it was an honour, really) of having been given a tour through all departments by one of the engineers. For someone crazy about WRC since childhood, that certainly has been a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The dedication of people working there was quite apparent. Cheers to Paolo! 🍻

I love all the unintentional rage bait. Using a torque wrench as a ratchet. Not tightening lug nuts in a star pattern. etc. They're just people like you and me, their tools probably get calibrated more often than "never", and those wheels are gonna come on and off several times before one could come loose. Great video!
I found it interesting the use of constant tension clamps for the intercooler piping, rather than Wiggins or equivalent. I guess its easier to repair a silicone coupler and a constant tension clamp.

man I wish they had the Elantra GT N (I30 for all the non Americans) when I was buying my gt, at least I can mod it to hopefully be an 1/8 as cool as this
Weirdly this feels more like industrial machinery assembly than a car. But also, it would be cool to see some engineering insights of the design process, maybe on an older car like the previous R5 or WRC.
One thing i am wondering about these cars: As they dont have a center differential, what role does brake balance play for the cars handling? Wouldn't brake force even out between front and rear wheels via the propshaft even if there are different sized brakes or an adjustable brake bias with a balance bar? And it wouldn't be possible to lock up the front wheels under braking if the rears are still spinning or vice versa, right? Except from using the handbrake disconnect clutch of course.

Utilizan un diferencial de deslizamiento limitado y tienen varias cosas que pueden ajustar: ángulos de rampa, placas de fricción, etc. Sin embargo, no tienen el diferencial central que tenían los antiguos coches WRC, lo que permitía un mayor control del par. Esperamos que esto ayude 🤓

Everything looks like a really well engineered bolt on mods on a bare chassis, and I loved seeing the transformation!

In total, 200 man hours, so a week is not a bad guess (4 mechanics, 50 hours each) 🙌
