I wouldnt recommend that kind of knife and watch carrier if you fly. Being in the military these days you travel by air a lot. On two separate occasions I had knives taken out of the interior pocket of my checked bag, I know other service members that have experienced the same. I eventually stopped taking expensive knives on trips and the ones I did take I packed in my boots with socks and underwear to keep them from falling out.
That's a good point. I wouldn't check that in a bag. If I fly, I basically just bring a knife I wouldn't care about losing or no knife at all, and just rely on the TPT Slide. But I'd still bring watches.
I flew to Japan for 3 weeks with a carry-on and a 20 L backpack. My wife and daughter also rocked a similar setup. We did check one of the bags, so I did get to bring a knife(I think it has to be under 6cm for Japan). You pack a ton of stuff, which is cool if you are going by car, but way too much if you are traversing airports and connecting trains all over the place. I also am a duffel bag man, but when I saw how people use rolling carry-on luggage as part of their day to day routine the first time i visited Japan about 17 years ago, I have to say I was converted. Now whenever I am getting on an airplane I don't even consider my duffle, unless its packed in my luggage for overflow. Thanks for the videos!
Im a long time user of Black Hole duffels from Patagonia. From deployments to surf trips to family vacations they are rugged, waterproof & have held up well. The most glaring thing missing is a separate wet/boot pocket! Such a simple element that makes a huge difference! Great lookin bag, congrats on the collab!!
I carry plastic outlet inserts to help with loose outlets while traveling or in coffee shops. I also have the Anker plug/PowerBank combo that is quite heavy as well and the outlet inserts are great for that as well. Great vid as always!
Hey, Taylor, I know I'm a little late on this video I just got back from deployment that being said if you are still looking for a dopp kit, I highly recommend you look into Gravel. Their Explorer MAX served me very well over 2 different 8 month+ deployments aboard An aircraft Carrier. I don't understand a little on the price of your side, but there was and they have 4 different sizes to choose from.
that really is a gorgeous duffle but WOW.. $160 for a water bottle.. its what I expect when I watch your channel.. I got a like new duffle with all its tags at a thrift store for $4, it doesnt have a boot pocket or leather straps but it did what a duffle does. The same goes for the stainless steel qt bottle I got at the same place for $1.. definitely different worlds... I do like that collectors binder a lot
Interesting video, as always. Regarding your search for your next Dopp Kit, I've been carrying Colonel Littleton's GP-1 Bag Dopp Kit for the past decade or so. It is made of heavy canvas and heavy leather strapping ad (so far) it shows no discernable wear and tear from some pretty hard use. Good luck in your hunt!
I recommend getting a Killswitch case from Dbrand for your Steam Deck. Cuts down on the bulkiness compared to the official carrying case from Valve. You can throw it in your backpack and not worry about damage
I received an LL Bean waxed canvas hanging toiletry bag for Christmas and it’s amazing. It’s a great material and you can hang it wherever you are so it’s leaves more open space on the counter which can be pretty limited in hotels. Also it has quite a few pockets which is great however it is a little bigger than most people might want
I see a lot of suggestions for a Dopp kit, and here is what I have used for several years. I have a RedOxx Nomad Shave Kit. It is made in Montana, USA. It has one main compartment and two flatter side pockets. It has plenty of space, but if you can reduce your carry, it will squish into less space, so it does not waste a lot of room. It rides in the middle compartment of my Air Boss. By the way the Air Boss comes with a Claw Non-slip Shoulder Strap. It really is nonslip. I got an extra one for another unrelated small bag. They also have a newer version strap but I don't have any familiarity with it. The Air Boss would be my version of Taylor's Heat Straps duffel. It is designed for carry-on, but I have also checked it many times. Lifetime guarantee. For water bottles, I prefer a RevoMax as my vacuum bottle, as I do not have to screw on any caps. For questionable water sources I take a Grayl UltraPress Titanium. My daughter took the latter to Mexico, but the tap water was salty and it did not filter that out, so they ended up buying bottled water anyway. [The filter instructions say freshwater only, no brackish or salt water, but it was too bad it could not handle the tap water.]
I have the vertex contingency outbound kit is what I have for my dop kit and I love it!!! I use it everyday and has 3 pockets. It's very surprising for the size
I use the spiff kit from Mystery Ranch. It’s waxed canvas and it pretty “minimum frills”, which I like. For what it’s worth, their urban assault backpack in waxed canvas is worth having. It’s my favorite edc backpack of all time and I’ve owned more than a few.
Not bad. I prefer the Nutsac Duffel. Still waxed canvas, doesn't look as chaotic, just missing that boot space but $299. They have a good Dopp kit as well. I use Matador's dry bag and their 30l duffel. They shrink down very small. The new Vertx Gamut is 25l and the Ready Pack went down to 20l. That knife storage is ridiculously priced but it is nice. Even though it's just a button closure.
Taylor, for the charger, pick up a short powercord extension. They come in at around maybe 8 inches long and this will help with the charger staying plugged in. Instead of the charger cantilevering itself out from the weight, the extension will allow it to hang, which would still be a more positive connection.
I have seen that suggestion a lot, often in the form of a small power strip, and it is a good one. On a recent trip to a foreign country I took something similar to what Taylor showed, in my case an Anker 747 GaNPrime 150W power adapter. [GaN = Gallium Nitride] I may rethink this on another trip and take something like the Anker Anker Prime 6-in-1 Charging Station (140W). I have a slightly older version, the Anker 727. The advantage is that it has its own cord AND two AC outlets in addition to the USB C and USB ports. The main reason I wish I had it along was that I only had one plug/socket adapter. This would have allowed me to plugin the USA style plug devices I needed and charge my USB devices while only having that one plug/socket adapter. By the way, if you wondered as I did how those thin sockets have enough room, when you plug in your AC device, the sockets rise up so you have enough length.
I almost always keep a spare set of clothes and toiletries in my back pack, especially if I check a bag. Nothing worse than your bag getting lost enroute, and your stuck without clean clothes for a day or more. I also always use a trash bag as my laundry bag when traveling. Definitely not as durable as a dedicated dry bag, or as leak proof, but definitely gets the job done.
Great video. I've been using the same Bomber & Co Dopp Kit since their kickstarted campaign almost a decade ago. It's been on a ton of adventures with me and has held up great. It fits perfectly in the side pocket of an Oakley Kitchen Sink backpack.
I travel everywhere with at least one knife and my camera. I always have essentials like wallet, a pen, and watch but I consider those pretty much standard without question. I do enjoy my weekender bag from Bespoke post monthly subscription
I love chicago combs. 13 seems like a lot for a comb but they're well worth the price, plus it's not like most people are just destroying combs left and right. Everything is really smooth and well rounded. Normal cheap dollar store type combs are just like pressed plastic and so they'll often have sharp ridges that snag or bite hair etc... they just suck. The #6 is a good general comb, the #8 is godly if you have a thicker beard. They just glide through hair.
I'm looking for a travel pouch for flashlights like they have for knives but I might be the only one haha, a flashlight roll! I do have those pelican style cases but I think that's too big for traveling.
Taylor, I have watched a ton of your videos and I love your content. I just have one thing that puzzles me to no end. Why is there never any kind of gun (EDC,truck gun etc) in any of your videos? I am curious as heck.
Baboon to the moon does a really great waterproof Dopp kit for a great price, they’re always doing sales on the colorways that don’t sell so I’ve ended up with extras to organize all the cords and gear in my backpack
Awesome video ... I have a Filson duffle that is equally overbuilt ... I also have a Saddleback Leather EDC Satchel which I take on my trips ... Aside from a water bottle I always pack my crushable stetson hat 🤠
Maxpedition makes and interesting kit. As for me I found a one compartment Cordura dopp. I just pitch everything in that. When I need something. I just rot through that thing like a hog hunting truffles. Oh, I know it's in there, and when I find it............
My DOPP kit lives in a 1.5 litre wide mouth water bottle if anything leaks it’s doesn’t get on clothes or other items it’s also handy to have a spare bottle for other people if they need it. The other thing I always have is a cheap rubber door wedge for keeping doors open when transferring stuff from the car or keeping the door closed in hotels that seem unsafe while I sleep
I have to say I was disappointed when you pulled out the steam deck. I figured for sure you would have a leather skin wrap on it. Seems like a must for you I think dbrand makes it.
Preorder the Heat Straps x Best Damn EDC Journeyman Duffel here bit.ly/3Qk5W7Q
What’s the pants that you are wearing? I think you edited that portion from this video.

@@richtea7868I’ve brought a lot more than that in a checked bag with magazines even
I just said I wouldn’t check it in a bag. Read
GaN is gallium nitride. It's an alternate material to silicon that's able to achieve the same amount of power delivery in a smaller package.

I have a few Black Hole duffels that I won. Love them and use one as my gym bag. I just wish there were a few more pockets
The thoughtful details that went into the Journeyman Duffel is something we can really get behind!
I carry plastic outlet inserts to help with loose outlets while traveling or in coffee shops. I also have the Anker plug/PowerBank combo that is quite heavy as well and the outlet inserts are great for that as well. Great vid as always!

Hey Taylor, i heard that the gravel dopp Kit is a very good toilet tree bag. you should try it out.

The Peak Design wash pouch or small wash pouch are great dopp kits.
Great list of items! Thanks for sharing man.
Check out the Gravel Explorer toiletry bag. I used the slim version when I backpacked hostels in SE Asia and it held up well

GORUCK has a few DOPP kits. The company also has a lifetime warranty on its gear.
Can you use a light when you film from the top?
I have used the LL Bean hanging bag for years now. It has been on multiple deployments to the desert and the aircraft carrier.
Where can I obtain the small cheap rectangular light that you showed on your short recently?
Great stuff. I need to have my kindle Paperwhite wherever I go and especially travel.

DOPP Kit suggestion .. Military Combat Lifesaver Bag.. Ive had one since my military day .. love it
Can you link one similar to yours? I found one for $20 and one for over $200...
The dopp kit that I prefer is Peak Design Wash Pouch. The way is folds open is very accessible, yet compact.
Like the OR 40L but canvas and without the backpack straps?
How heavy is it.
You said you moved away from the pangolin tool roll. What are you using instead?
My favorite Dopp kit is from Burton, theres is super super good full of pockets
I have the vertex contingency outbound kit is what I have for my dop kit and I love it!!! I use it everyday and has 3 pockets. It's very surprising for the size

I highly recommend the Taskin Role 5 in 1 Toiletry Bag. It's modular and customizable.
Recently got a topo designs dopp kit!! the leather one, I've been quite enjoying it!
The Duffel is a thing of beauty.
That duffle colorway would match my green GoRuck Heritage GR1 perfectly for quick trips! Ill have to look into that!

I’ve been eyeing the step 22 tortoise toiletry bag. But they look sold out but not sure if it’s discounted or not.
Great stuff. I actually use the Maxpedition Aftermath toiletry bag for all my products. Works great and plenty of pockets and straps.
the dopp kits from tumi are great!
What’s the pants that you are wearing? I think you edited that portion from this video.

Bring back Whiskey Knife Fight!
Yesssss!

And the cc mountain logo hat 😊
My in laws got me a Hershel Dopp when my wife and I were dating 10 years ago. It’s with me every time I leave town and has held up amazingly.
Dollar Shave Club has a Dopp kit bag. It has three internal pockets and 2 external ones. It holds quite a bit of stuff too.
Peak Design was my top choice for a dopp.
My dopp kit is a Maxpedition Fatty. I've been travelling for 30 years and it's what works best for me.
I’m a big fan of the Gravel toiletry bags.
do you think if the bag does well you will drop another round
The best dopp kit I own came from etsy. High quality, full leather, and great price. Any of the crafters from ukraine, tel Aviv, Istanbul, etc

where you get that jacket from 👀
I travel out of the country and always have to pack my edc in my checked luggage. Other countries can be difficult at times.
I'm looking for a travel pouch for flashlights like they have for knives but I might be the only one haha, a flashlight roll! I do have those pelican style cases but I think that's too big for traveling.
TOPO designs in Denver. They make my go to dopp and my backpack. Very good stuff.

Does it fit a 16” MacBook Pro?
For a dop kit, I’ve been using a Patagonia Black Hole® Cube - Small - 3L, 6 years still great.
Taylor, I have watched a ton of your videos and I love your content. I just have one thing that puzzles me to no end. Why is there never any kind of gun (EDC,truck gun etc) in any of your videos? I am curious as heck.

Rawlings makes an awesome leather dob kit. I’ve had mine for a few years and love it
The Koby Dopp kit. By Tooletries. My gym bag and hiking Dopp kit I use. Water proof and a lot of space.
Dopp kit from dollar shave club is fantastic. Simple but useful and it’s cheap! They’re razors suck but the kit is awesome.
I have three Dopp kits I’d recommend:
Saddleback Leather,
Colonel Littleton, and
Mission Mercantile
All build bulletproof Dopp Kit bags.
The best dopp kit I've found is the North Face Canister
Awesome video ... I have a Filson duffle that is equally overbuilt ... I also have a Saddleback Leather EDC Satchel which I take on my trips ... Aside from a water bottle I always pack my crushable stetson hat 🤠
Lbt dopp kit man. Check one out. Best I've ever used. Just enough organization inside.
This has definitely been mentioned already, but I am a fan of the size and organization of the Peak Design Wash Pouch as my dopp kit.
Maxpedition makes and interesting kit. As for me I found a one compartment Cordura dopp. I just pitch everything in that. When I need something. I just rot through that thing like a hog hunting truffles. Oh, I know it's in there, and when I find it............
#1 thing to take when traveling especially with family is a concealable firearm if traveling by vehicle a long gun is also coming with.
I use an Aer Travel Kit 2 for dopp

PNW Bushcraft makes a great option! Also, the tool roll from Hill People Gear is great for organizing

GaN is Gallium Nitride, powering the next gen of electronic power sources.
I've had a few GaN chargers and never knew what it meant. Thanks lol
That stuff is going to cause a whole lot of problems for us with China.
@@toma1460 Yes, China has now added restrictions to the export of these.
@@udayshome1793 you are correct and not just to the USA but to European countries as well. They have I believe 90% of the world's supply maybe more.
Would love to go to Blade show. Just wish it wasnt in Atlanta.
Flowfold is a Maine company that makes bags n such out of recycled sailcloth. I use their coin pouch as my wallet. Great stuff.
Take a look at A.G.Russell he’s has a few in both leather & canvas 🤙🏼😎
Go ruck gr2 field pocket for dopp kit

@bestdamnedc I really like the Nomatic toiletry bag 2.0 give it a look/try.
GaN (Gallium Nitride) basically just a robust semiconductor
Gravel Explorer PLUS Hanging Waterproof Travel Toiletry Bag
They sell Filson rugged twill travel kit dirt cheap at sierra right now. Quality x Price = Unbeatable

I have to say I was disappointed when you pulled out the steam deck. I figured for sure you would have a leather skin wrap on it. Seems like a must for you I think dbrand makes it.
