Pro tip, bring a backpack and have a rain jacket with zip pockets (or a large game pocket). You can stuff the rain jacket and they can’t call you out on a ‘worn item,’ even if you strap it to the outside of your carry on. So, I leave my "This is a pain in the ass attitude" at home. When everyone else is bitching, moaning, and complaining about going through security, having to wait for their coffee, or I'm behind someone scratching lottery tickets at the gas station, I can practice some patience, look around, smile, say a kind word to someone, etc. It just makes everything I do a lot easier. All the best to you...Mark
Bought this same bag in the black color way a few weeks back. Said I was only going to use it for Disney trips and the occasional traveling. All of a sudden I’m using it every day. Super handy and comfortable. People are going to hate on it. But, once you get past the purse jokes, this bag is great!
I really like this bag. Also used it on my recent trip. The front pocket is hard to fit a phone into, but I started putting a hank in there. Doesn't take up much space and has microfiber to clean screens, glasses etc.
This is my EDC keychain. I usually remember to leave it out of my bag, because TSA WILL look at it. Never had a problem. I've used it for all kinds of stuff; from opening boxes to repairing a hotel towel rack.
Love that youre flying into Philly! Go Birds! I was supposed to be flying out of MIA today heading to Nor Cal, but i missed my flight and got bumped to tomoorw. Going up for a long weekend and doing some hiking. This video popped up as soon as I walked in the door getting back from the airport. Gonna have to reorganize my sling bag edc after watching this lol. Keeo up the good work!!
Been using alpaca gear for a couple of years now. Couple of sling bags, small and large keychain, wallet phone holder, AirPods holder. Alpaca is an amazing brand.
Some people are just better at it than others, I have sunglasses that i’ve owned for over 25 years, my girlfriend cant seem to keep a pair longer than a year. I get the expensive ones, she’s only allowed drug store sunglasses.
I travel with tools, so I have to check a bag. On the plane I carry a small pack similar to yours with what I need during the flight. Wired noise cancelling earbuds (the batteries last for a year or more), reading glasses, lens wipes, Powerbank and a multi headed charging cable for Iphone, Android and Micro USB devices. And a snack because I'm tired of pretzels and Biscoff. I hang it from the seatback in front of me with a Heroclip for convenience. Also my 9" tablet loaded with stuff to watch. My backpack goes in the overhead and that carries my laptop, camera gear (a mirrorless micro 4/3 travels well), and travel CPAP. Sometimes I will risk putting the CPAP in checked luggage (padded well and in the middle of the bag) so I have room to bring my compact drone. That depends on where I am going.
I have all types of bags. Sling bag, chest rig/bag, flatpack, flatpck chest rig combo, phone & wallet holster (shoutout LD West). And I'm proud of it 😆.
I understand you can carry on tools smaller than 7 inches. I added a small pair of pliers to my air travel pack. I bought just a cheap pair from Harbor Freight, just in case a TSA agent decides they want to keep them. Might be a great addition to that pack. Maybe also a small amount of first aid gear. Just a thought.
Great video!!! If I don't check a bag, then I ship whatever I want to have with me to the address I am staying or I keep a small safe and a bag with clothes, hygiene items, medications, a small emergency kit, an empty sling bag, and whatever else I want/need to have there (I do that at my parents house since I fly there fairly often). That leaves my small backpack and my fanny pack on me. I don't really care about what others think of my set up, because I do what works for me.
So I have a have on my person a leatherman ps style, a geek key multi tool, a stream light micro stream, a Vicks vapor inhaler, ballpoint pen g5, my phone, Raycon earbuds, small bic lighter, and in my bag a gerber boxcutter minus the blade, with a pressurecult Nomad minus the blade.
I carry a CRKT Williams Tactical Pen. I have flown domestic and international. That way I have some form of a weapon while traveling. I also travel with the Tomtoc Compact EDC Sling Bag, 4.5L. Cheap and the black interior sucks but it works. Large enough to hold essentials but small enough so I don't overpack.
Some 25+ years ago, I went through TSA with a Spyderco ladybug. Not only did the agent not know that it was a legal size (now banned), but they didn't know how to close a lock back blade. All pokies have to be in a checked bag now.
On the flight, I carry an Olight Baton 3, and a Bic lighter with gorilla tape wrapped around it. I do have to check a bag, so edc multi tool and pocket knife go in that bag. 👍🏻❤️🇺🇸
I want to get onboard with the EDC sling bag but I am having a hard time actually committing to the idea lol. I bought a small pack to hold my daily essentials as well as a back up phone charger and my backup g43X. I carried it a couple of times and now it sits in the closet. I love the idea of it but have a hard time getting over the man purse thoughts lol.

I like your idea of a small edc pack for travel to keep pockets clear. I think I would want to go a little larger, maybe something like the Vertx chest/fanny pack they sell, but since I haven't actually had one in hand I wonder if it would then be too large.
The vertx socp is a good size imo it will fit way more then this but also not big enough to look bulky even stuffed. It was ment to be a Fanny pack but I wear it around the shoulder to me it’s too bulky to be worn on the waste but if on the chest or back it’s not even noticeable
The alpaka mini bravo is a good mid sized pack also. I've had one for a few months now and it's plenty big for my edc stuff and even my firearm if need be
Did TSA say anything about the flashlight? Thinking of picking this up for an upcoming international trip that I will be going on. Heard rumblings that some TSA agents like to take 'tactical' looking flashlights away. I would hate to lose such a nice expensive flashlight. Thanks!
What's wrong with phanny packs? Any kind of pouch or small bag is practical for travel or EDC... my EDC bag is the 5.11 Rush MOAB 10. I have a powerbank and a usb fan, which has saved me so many times when I've had to stand in line, and it's hot and stuffy. I also have a Sea to Summut seat cushion, they're waterproof and they deflate to the size of a piece of cardboard.
Thanks!
I have only had them reject my bag to ask if it was just a flash light. Because “tactical” flashlights to them may have a taser function.
Spare change of clothes, phone charger, medications, sunscreen and travel documents all I bring
what's Pencil Vainia like?
As a pilot… can’t wear polarized sun glasses. Screws with reading the instruments.
My grandma visited us for christmas, and every restaurant we went to had old wooden chairs, I literally saved her ass!
Is your bag the metro sling or the metro pouch? It’s a nice sling
