My favorite tip was to learn how the extensions work by understanding the basic functions of sketchup first. Very well taught! Thanks for showing me the proper way to run the model tools. Super cool!
Your videos have taught me an incredible amount in a very short time. I blew my client away with my 3D renderings of his home during my recent presentation. Thank you!
You are a first class teacher. I really like your emphasis on understanding the underlying fundamentals. It reminded me of studying engineering at university. I remember being completely stuck trying to learn iterative design work flow and my tutor wouldn't answer my questions until I framed them in terms of fundamental concepts. Of course, reducing the problem to fundamental concepts resulted in me being able to unstick myself without his help.
Thanks for the kind words. We invest a lot into trying to reduce the concepts to core principles you can apply, so I am glad that has shone through for you!
I've used intersect faces a lot but I have never used it to make edge loops to manipulate a component. An invaluable lesson learned right there! Thanks
Glad I found this video, thanks. My brain was stuck thinking in a mode as if I was doing solid modeling like I did in College with tools like SolidWorks. I wasn't thinking about surface polygons as much as adding and subtracting primitives to create shapes. I was stuck trying to do something in a "solid-modeling" way of thinking, and here I see I need to change my thinking into a surface modeling and polygon mesh way of thinking. Thanks!
I’m just learning this program and I really appreciate these videos. You and tour team are outstanding at presenting complicated concepts into easy to follow and concise videos. You’re also great at presentation and communication. In short: thank you for all the hard work.
Hello ! Thank you for this very clear tutorial well explained ! I have a question, how do you duplicate element with the moving tool while duplicating between the two copy ? Like at 13:56 or 4:54, it seem to be a shortcut or a key to press, but I don't know how you do that and it would save me a lot of time if you explain me this shortcut !
@@SketchUpSchool Ahah I wasn't very clear I'm sorry, I do know how to duplicate with the CTRL+move method, but I don't know how you copy with multiple repetition between the two objects, like how do you go to 1 bar to 10 bars at equal range, with a single manipulation ?
@@VS-fu4in Hello ! I just tested that and it sadly don't work... When I enter a value after duplicating it, it just change the distance between the two, but do not add the number of objects wanted.
so steve which version do you use..also what is your background...do you think for a person like me who has never done anything like this could learn this program...just asking thanks
@@nickbjones8833 I've just started using SketchUp within the past two months, and it is definitely learnable! These videos by SketchUp school have been a valuable asset to me and helped me build my first rendering for a client (albiet a very rough one). Over time it becomes second nature after some practice. :)
Every information is put in a way so easy to understand, and so, enabling a better development in the future for every sketchup user. Thank you! i really am enjoying your videos ;)
@@SketchUpSchool you are most welcome, and it is well deserved. I used sketchup before, early versions of it, without giving any deep thoughts about it, just jumping straight to creating 3d models, and it was quite fun following the intuitive process of it, and this was probably in the early 2010. Now, after a break of nearly 10 years of it, i'm back in the saddle again, and dedicating time for these videos are a must do if one wishes to evolve properly! Thanks once more!
This is a top-of-the-line video and one of the best and most professionally created I have seen in this business for a long time! When tutorial-pros create something like this, it always appear really easy to comprehend and use. Like using the Follow Me tool to create edge loops for super smart and quick manipulation of complex geometry. Impressing!
Wow - thank you so much for the kind words! We really appreciate you taking the time to let us know that you liked the video, and are even more happy to know that the Follow Me tool for Edge Loops tip was helpful for you!
Hi Alex, Thanks for GREAT SKETCHUP TIPS!!! It helps a lot as I am self taught. do you have any extensions that supports Set & stage designs. As this is what I| use Sketchup for. Thanks Again.
Hi Danie 👋, It's hard to summarize it all here in a comment. The best way for us to provide recommendations is if you visit this link on our site to start a conversation: www.sketchupschool.com/which-extensions-should-you-be-using (note, this is the link we shared for people who watch another video you might be interested in: 10 SketchUp Extensions Every Architect Should Know - ruclips.net/video/mtpEmbteWW8/видео.html).
Maybe about 100 hours of learning + 100 hours of trying to work on real projects (intermixing the two) will get you most of the way there. Then of course you can continue to refine your skills over time.

(1)Turn subtitles on and then (2)click the settings button which is the gear icon on the bottom line of your video window. Then (3)click Subtitles and finally (4)Auto-translate. That gives you a scroll list of languages. (5)Scroll down to Indonesian and (6)click on it and there you go. Unfortunately, you will have to do it again next time you start a video. I don't know if there's a way around that.
