I need help with my drawings. This tutorial has been great for me. I need to if I can and how do I transfer my drawings into other software like word and excel.
Frankly speaking, the lesson was more than important and wonderful, and I am from Iraq. I loved the program because I am a civil engineer and I would like to delve deeper into this wonderful, picturesque and imaginative field.
Thank you so much for the introduction to SketchUp tools and techniques! I especially enjoyed learning about the group option - it’s amazing how much that will simplify things for me. Architecture has always been a dream of mine, and while I don’t have a formal degree, I have a real passion for design and have been creating things for fun for years. Your guidance has inspired me to take this passion seriously, and I’m even considering starting a business selling design charts someday. Thanks again for your time and support - it truly means a lot!
I’m a smart guy.. a math major.. a carpenter.. a disgruntled IT support person.. but SketchUp eluded me. Just a couple of your videos here have dispatched the frustration and confusion I was encountering and I’m back learning SketchUp and it’s WORKING. I cannot thank you enough. Truly the best advice to ANYONE who wants to use this software is… get on board FIRST with your seven tips videos. My forever self says… thank you!!!
I have been using sketchup for personal use for years on and off.It is hands down the most intuitive architectural program ever developed.I highly recommend these tutorials to learn how to draw construction documents the right way ,to save yourself unnecessary grief when you advance with SketchUp later on. Thanks for sharing.
Alex is the best facilitator, and presents the most clear, well-organized tutorials and workshops. These videos as well as those at SketchUp School are "fat free." In other words, the instructions are simple, and to-the-point with no extra baloney. You will be taught the correct way to do things, not just a person sharing what they've taught themselves. I recommend these videos for all of my interior design college students, whether they just need a refresher or if they are learning SketchUp for the first time.
I like how you explain everything thoroughly. Not boring. Like a teacher who can always get his students' attention so easily. Even some small details that I thought you would forgot to say. I've been using Sketchup for 11 years (started with Google SketchUp 8) until now, and every time I watch your video, I still learn something new. 👍
I've been learning Sketchup now for a few years off and on. I learn a few new things every time I watch one of your lessons; real time saver ones too!!! Thank you, these are excellent.
I am so thankful I found your videos. You have a very clear teaching style. I never worked in computers accept to shop and write emails and thought I'd never get this stuff but I'm actually proficient in Skp because of your videos. Major gratitude over here. My fave part: learning to export to PDF if I want my lines to look readable.
I've been using Sketch up since a long time but after seeing some of your videos I realized how many bad habits I do have and I've learnt a lots of very useful tools to improve my designs. The best Sketch up tutorial channel I've seen so far. thanks a lot!!! I'll keep watching all of them
I'm just getting started in Sketchup Make and have watched several of your videos. I have even watched the 7 Steps to Get Started 4x. They are all GREAT !! Thanks for the help.
I started using sketch up 3d by self study, I was able to complete many projects using this wonderful app. Watching your video, your steps and process just confirmed that what I have learned and have been doing with sketch up is correct. Thank you
I love love Sketchup Its not so complicated to use it and easy application for giving the client a very clear idea on their house plans or interior decorations even at the simple stages with any rendering its all clear and easy to visualize the output. I have watched some of your videos and you are one of the most brilliant teachers in the youtube very perfect with your work , May God Bless you and be safe everyone.
I've worked in autocadd and Revit and now new to SketchUP. I thought your video was excellent. It was informative, clear and precise and easy to follow. Looking forward to viewing more of the Sketch up school videos.
dear Coach .. you are life saver. I have been importing acad dwgs into sketchups and recently my acad went haywire n I was at wits end in finding a efficient way to draw 2-D floor plan in SketchUp .. tQ very much for this informative and fun video too ..
Having played with Sketchup for a couple of weeks and building frustration levels to the max, this tutorial was brilliant. Which tool did I like the best? They are all excellent, why? Simply due to now being able to use the tools navigated in this video frustration gone. I am sure there is more frustration on my journey. From what I have viewed over the weeks this is the best tutorial available for beginners. 5 Stars for you guys.
Great video thanks, best tip for me was using the move tool to rotate components, and pressing the option key BEFORE using the move key to create a copy. Proper job!
Some valuable advice here as always. I'm currently designing some elements of our soon to be renovated house while planning the furniture placements in the house we're moving to for 18 mths while the renovations take place. Creating a 3D model and placing simple mock-ups of our furniture with accurate dimensions, has been invaulable. Makes it much easier to have (calm) conversations with the missus and kids over what goes where... :-) Big thanks for the great tips and cheers from Sydney - Dave
These videos are great. I've gone from absolutely hating Sketchup to loving it.You have to unlearn what you have learned in any other application as it's different from anything else out there, however it is so powerful once you understand how it works. Thank you for the video and keep up the great work.
SketchUp School Yes I was right on the edge of giving up with it and did one last search on RUclips... that’s when I found this video series which changed everything! I’m just a personal user looking at doing some home improvements and have (as a result of watching a few of these videos) been able to visualize it in full 3D. SketchUp is amazingly powerful. I’ve been using, designing and working in web/application/software for nearly 3 decades so thought I could just waltz into SketchUp like a pro... I failed spectacularly. Thank you for this channel and these videos. The presenter is great and the content scaffolding is right on point. Thank you and keep up the great work!
Really happy to hear this video was helpful! And we're looking forward to you joining the SketchUp School family if you decide to give our courses a try!
Learned more about flipping and moving in this video than in others about web based SketchUp. I think that was because the directions were given in the context of creating a plan. I found it more intuitive that way. In any event, well done..
I've reflect on pursuing the consistency of my own style on making my own plans to every details i want to attain and this video really brightens my mind to get my perspective and creativity to a critical and right path point of view. Thank you for creating this very elaborative and well informed channel. Btw, I'm graduating this August 2022 as a Civil Engineering student. Wish me luck and Godbless from Philippines :)
I purchased Sketchup-Pro a couple of years ago, (bought all updates) & had unexpected changes that required me to downsize. We sold our home in Wisconsin & moved to Ozark County in Missouri. Still getting settled. Convinced daughter to move here & build a "tiny home" on our land. Now I have a real project to use my program on. We have already excavated a site for 20'X44' slab, installed under slab electric & plumbing & are ready as soon as cooler weather, to pour concrete. We did manual floor plans, but now I want to learn how to use my "power tool" drawing program.
I m belonging facades design students Very needful this for who people not have more money for professional institutions keep working sir 🎉 love from india,
wow you are a great mentor for me, i was looking for my mentor fro sketchup, finally i found you...thank you so much for sharing your knowledge on this plat form..
Thanks a lot Alex sir for making such a knowledgeable and understandable video. Entire video is useful containing all 7 steps, but specifically last 2 tips are most useful for me. To import and edit the 2D models and the tips for the presentation.
Thanks so much for this informative video! I spent two years in college as an architecture major back around 1990 & drew all my plans by hand! These days I own a construction company & during these times I’m finally taking on a lot of home projects. I would love to utilize this program for some home renovations such as redecorating & purchasing new furniture. I think this would come in very handy for me to draw up my floor plan to play around with some different ideas in 2D as a start but also in 3D. And I think the use of this program along with my iPad Pro would be great to take with me on the go!
We agree: SketchUp sounds like it would be a great tool for you and your business. As you learn it, be sure to check out our other videos on our RUclips channel or take a look at our full courses on our website here: www.sketchupschool.com/video-course-library
@@SketchUpSchool Well - rereading my initial comment I think I need more help with my grammar than with sketchup right now, but thanks and I'll contact you if I get really stuck!
@@SketchUpSchool Hey buddy, just tried to get back to my 2d section and all that comes up in sketch up is a 3d system. No icons or tabs showing a way to get the 2d. So Maybe I saved my practiced in 3d, but now I cannot create a 2d lay out. Which I think is my best way to get started. The menu only shows the one available option which is. Create New: Simple template inches or mm or meters. No option for using a 2d template. Hope you can help
@SketchUpSchool. Hi I’m the architecture business and I have a Mac OS 10.10.5 Yosemite and I want to use sketchUp. I research and the one that is compatible is a really old version. But I can’t find it to purchase it. Any tips or ideas of what I can go about finding a way to buy it
@@SketchUpSchool I'll also be checking out specific courses from your site. Are they available on an 'a la carte' basis, or do I need to go the monthly route for payment?
Just getting started with Sketch up and the videos are quite helpful and give great tips. The one part that is not very clear so far is grouping items and creating layers. I have watched the previous video titled "Watch this Before You Get Started" where it introduced this concept very briefly and then in this current video there are several reminders to group and create layers. At this point, I don't see how to create a layer, how to make it part of a group or how to edit that if I need to at a later time. Would love to see more on that concept since it appears to be a very helpful tip that is repeatedly mentioned in the tutorials.
In our RUclips videos, we have enough time to give you an overview of the concepts to accomplish an overall task (like creating a Floor Plan). These are condensed summaries from our full video courses on our website - in those courses we have the ability to cover things more in-depth. As for Groups and Layers (note: Layers were renamed to Tags in SketchUp 2020, so if you are using SketchUp 2020, then you'll look for Tags): 1) To create a Layer/Tag In SketchUp, go to your Layers/Tags dialog (on a Mac, the dialog is in top menu under Window... on a PC, the dialog should be open on the right of your screen in the Default tray). In the Layers/Tags dialog, click the plus to create a new Layer/Tag. 2) Assing a Group to a Layer/Tag Right-click on a Group and select the option for Entity Info. In the Entity Info dialog, flip the Layer/Tag menu down and select the appropriate Layer/Tag Of course, if you're up for it, we cover this in much more detail in our Video Course Library. You can learn more and try it for free here: www.sketchupschool.com/video-course-library
Love the beginners tutorials. I initially tried SketchUp on my own, disaster! Much happier now, One question though , at the end of the tutorials you say there are notes in the cards .. where do I find these please. Cheers, keep up the great work.
Yes I did, new commands I have not used before which I will now, Edit Component and Make Unique (I had not crossed that path before) and using styles, pretty cool. will be taking some classes soon. Thanks for keeping it interesting.
Thanks a lot! I love your clear and informative presentations. I've used Sketchup Make, and other free versions for years, but I have always wanted to be better and more professional and your presentations address exactly that!
The video is great and it was rather helpful! I tried to get the notes linked in the description for quick referencing, but the linked page does not start any notes. I also could not find the starter library you mentioned (as it is supposed to be linked in the notes). If someone can direct me to the starter library (or the notes), I would be grateful. Thank you again for the helpful video. :)
For the notes, you can get them here: sketchup.school/5fe And for the 2D symbols, you can find them on the 3D Warehouse here: 3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/model/786f8852-ff9b-4848-9625-e9047efc99da/2D-Interior-Symbols-for-Floor-Plans
Great video! I love how quickly and clearly you explain a specific subject. I have a question though! Would you recommend always starting with a 2D model even if you already know you'll want a 3D model later on? Or would you immediately start with the 3D version? And would it then later be possible to make a good floor plan out of your 3D drawing?
If you know you'll create a 3D model, it's best to go ahead and do that first... then you can use SketchUp and LayOut to derive the 2D drawings you need. This video was for the people who ONLY need a 2D floor plan and don't plan to create a 3D model - or don't plan to do so until they've gotten their 2D floor plan approved.

Absolutely awesome. Just what I was looking for. Thanks.

@SketchUpSchool. Hi I’m the architecture business and I have a Mac OS 10.10.5 Yosemite and I want to use sketchUp. I research and the one that is compatible is a really old version. But I can’t find it to purchase it. Any tips or ideas of what I can go about finding a way to buy it
Unfortunately, we're not aware for how to get an old enough version of SketchUp to run on that version of the MacOS.
Extremely well presented video thankyou for this

@@SketchUpSchool I'll also be checking out specific courses from your site. Are they available on an 'a la carte' basis, or do I need to go the monthly route for payment?
Good refresher! Now I can get started on my floor plan.
Awesome - good luck!
Very easy to understand, thanks!

Happy to hear you liked the video!
Excellent and explained in very simple way...thanks buddy.
You're welcome!
As for Groups and Layers (note: Layers were renamed to Tags in SketchUp 2020, so if you are using SketchUp 2020, then you'll look for Tags):
1) To create a Layer/Tag
In SketchUp, go to your Layers/Tags dialog (on a Mac, the dialog is in top menu under Window... on a PC, the dialog should be open on the right of your screen in the Default tray). In the Layers/Tags dialog, click the plus to create a new Layer/Tag.
2) Assing a Group to a Layer/Tag
Right-click on a Group and select the option for Entity Info. In the Entity Info dialog, flip the Layer/Tag menu down and select the appropriate Layer/Tag
Of course, if you're up for it, we cover this in much more detail in our Video Course Library. You can learn more and try it for free here: www.sketchupschool.com/video-course-library
excellently presented!
Glad you liked it!
Love the beginners tutorials. I initially tried SketchUp on my own, disaster! Much happier now, One question though , at the end of the tutorials you say there are notes in the cards .. where do I find these please. Cheers, keep up the great work.
The link to the notes is also in the description - but I've pasted it here for you as well: sketchup.school/5fe
Yes I did, new commands I have not used before which I will now, Edit Component and Make Unique (I had not crossed that path before) and using styles, pretty cool. will be taking some classes soon. Thanks for keeping it interesting.
You're welcome! Looking forward to having you take our courses soon!

Halo semua kalian semua sehat atau tidak sehat
I just subscribe. I liked all of them. I'm fixing to download a drafting program on my computer.
Awesome - welcome to the SketchUp School family!
your tips very useful and easy to understand
Glad to hear that
The video is great and it was rather helpful!
For the notes, you can get them here: sketchup.school/5fe
And for the 2D symbols, you can find them on the 3D Warehouse here: 3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/model/786f8852-ff9b-4848-9625-e9047efc99da/2D-Interior-Symbols-for-Floor-Plans
Finally now how to edit a component. Thank you.
Glad to help!
I liked getting started, adding interior walls, furniture and fixtures library.
Awesome! Happy to hear you liked those tips.
