Space marine ships require fewer crew than other imperial ships mainly through servitors. They are not designed for long fights instead meant to deliver troops to the planets surface.
you mean long engagements because they lack longer and powerful range guns? An Astartes Battlebarge would RIP any ship in melee broadside not counting the boarding actions. Battlebarges could take humongous damage from ground to orbital guns from planetary defenses which could destroy most imperial ships.
@@jurajsintaj6644 Astartes ships lacks long powerful range guns especially Lance Heavy Batteries of which Imperial Navy Ships has. Rather, they have a very power shorter range like Macro Energy Guns that acts like a Shotgun for ships. And yes, they rely more on Boarding Torpedoes and Teleporters for boarding actions also the reason why their ships are Heavily Armored.
@@jurajsintaj6644 that's the reason why Astartes ships won battles in melee combat, and also defeating a Necron Battleship that could easily destroy an entire Imperial Navy Fleet.

THIS was a bigger and better advertisement of the Sword class frigate than owlcat did. If such a vid were out 9 months ago, no one would have complained that we dont have a cruiser class in rogue trader.
They still upgunned the hell out of it without giving any in lore reason that made sense of why it can support them. Owlcat is full of shit In a lot of ways with that game while simultaneously providing an excellent authentic experience it's maddening honestly
The first half of this video is honestly making me want to stash a bunch of Escort ships in my fleets now for Battlefleet Gothic 2 now. Yes I am aware that I might have to replace them every few engagements if I'm not careful enough but the itch to put some Sword and Firestorm class ships in my fleets is getting bigger and bigger now

Very interesting. I really never thought about how limited the Space Marines might be outside of their given role as shock troops, but this video really does give one pause for thought.
Anyway we can do a video on guardsmen related things, different type of weapons used by guardsmen, different guardsmen regiments, different rankings and jobs of a guardsmen, or different versions of vehicles. I think there is alot to talk about in terms or variety with guardsmen then space marines
Would love to hear more of fleets... Heard Guilliman had some navy combats under his belt. Would be interesting to hear more of Warhammer Navy battles. Don't think this part of warhammer gets enough love. Just out of curiosity what class is the void ship in Dark tide?
Would love to see deep dives into other factions units and wargear, but this time gonna ask if you'd do any of the Marine Melee armaments while the SM2 wave is still going.
Awesome rundown. The vessels of the 40k universe get largely forgotten despite the pc games. Im your average Sword enjoyer, I have 15 of the minis, it was such a good screener on the tabletop xD. I also have enough of a marine fleet to move half a chapter and a few of the eldar ships which i bought because the models were cool :p
If you want to get the True experience of 40k's space combat, Get Battle Fleet Gothic, armada 2. Great graphics, a good campaign, and is extremely cheap compared to other 40k games it only being $20 with a $10 chaos DLC. The game can also be modded if you want more Glorianas, battleships, and titans. I recommend the Skalgrim mod.
Big question: What are the canon-looking appendices we find on the rear end (but pointing forward) of a good portion of these ships ? (And yes full on Imperial Navy, Mecanicus or even 30k navy videos would be great!)
In terms of gloriana class battleships, each legion received at least one, however many were destroyed in the heresy or have been lost since. There are 3 confirmed to be in active service, Invincible Reason of the Dark Angels, the Eternal Crusader of the Black Templars, and the Macragge’s Honour of the Ultramarines. These along with the Imperial Fist’s enormous battlestation Phalanx, were likely kept in service with those chapters partly due to them becoming inseparable symbols of those legions/chapters and that it would be an insult to said chapters to take their flagships. Also the Nemisis Chapter after the heresy the year after the second founding was granted a Gloriana Class “Chronicle of Fire” captured from the word bearers, after it had been investigated by the inquisition, hinting that space marines possessing these vessels was not too taboo under guiliman’s initial reforms after the second founding.
I think there's some confusion with rules over reality, even the frigates in the navy are really big, the Sword Frigate is 1.6 kilometres long or 1600 meters or 5249 feet (for reference the Enterprise D from Star Trek is just under 0.65 kilometres or 641 meters or 2103 feet long) so the smaller could ships could DEFFINATELY hold more than just 1 squad of Space Marines, Otherwise this video was great
Wait but what about the one from Angels of Death battle barge? The Sword of Baal, if im not mistaken they fought almost without any shield after lost in the warp and look smaller in one episode when the drukhari attacked them
Great video! I’m doing a playthrough of Chaos Gate on my channel and have always wondered where strike cruisers (the baleful edict @14:51) fell on the hierarchy of ships available. Do all chapters have access to strike cruises and battle bardges?
what ive never seen anyone discuss is the interior sizes of the ships. they cant be small and claustrophobic, cause they have to fit space marines who are much larger than normal humans. so are they all built the same and are really large inside, or are imperial navy ships small inside? and if so, that means no space marine could go on one.
I'm not sure about the rare ship types, like Battle Barges, only appearing once and a while. Are we do imagine that they sit uselessly in port for long stretches of time, while the crew is on shore leave? In real life, at least one of the best ships is deployed somewhere at any given time.
You have it wrong for the size and classification of Strike Cruisers, besides that not a bad video. Although Space Marine Chapters do have access to not only Battle Barges, but Star Forts, Battleships, etc. A Gloriana is NEVER considered a Battle Barge btw. Also, they are not reinforced to be as tough as the Imperial Palace...
I don't think the ridiculous scale is properly shown. By saying that for example a Sword or Gladius "can" only carry a single squat of Space Marines make these escort class ships sound very tiny but they have crews of like 26000.
