Big thank you. Found your video about 3 years ago and every time my clock spring ribbon snaps I go and order the ribbon from AliExpress then come back to this video to center it for my Nissan AD Van here in Jamaica. So basically I just skip to the part where you show to turn it all the way to the left, then turn it right 5 and a quarter times then turn left two and a half times and that's the center center. After I fit up back the steering, check if the horn works, I then start the car and slowly turn the wheel far right and left while pressing the horn to ensure the ribbon doesn't snap and it works every time. This is like my 4th ribbon. Did it yesterday again and made sure I used a little bit of transmission fluid to grease the ribbon and other moving plastics. Nissan made these things snap easily. The amount of make shift horns I see here in Jamaica on these Nissan vehicles is appalling. I don't like em, I prefer to buy the ribbon and replace it myself. Thank you again.
@chenlaoding You're welcome, at one point I couldn't find your video and thought it was gone (Don't ever take it down) because this video is the only one I could find on RUclips on how to find the center of the clock spring. I've tried like 2 ready assembled clock springs from eBay and they both snapped hence me searching for a video on how to center it. Much respect.
The ring in the back is set to factory center, the front wheels must be straight forward for it to be centered. When you adjusted the factory center, the ring was moved from the position of your front wheels. They have to correlate with the position of the ring sensor or the VDC light will come on and stay on. Some vehicles wont let you move the car if this sensor is off centered.
you seem to know alot about this .. i just replaced mine in armada .. same part number fit everything worked except vdc light and slip came on ... i swapped old one back in and light went off ... im losing my mind lol ...
@@demolaj1 make sure the steering wheel is centered and front wheels straight forward. Also make sure the clockspring is centered before installing the ring sensor on the back.
I know this vid is old but once you replace the clock spring sensor you must get it recalibrated to erase vdc, abs, and slip. As for the airbag light you must make sure your car is off and put your key in the ignition and onto the accessory mode where all the lights come one and wait until the airbag light turns on. As soon as you see it disappear from your dash turn the key to the off position. Do this about 4-5 times and then turn your car on. Wait 10-20 seconds to confirm that it has worked. You could also get the airbag light erase as well once you get it recalibrated. Go to a dealer or someone with a advance obd scanner and they can erase it.
16:40 ... I lost count on how many videos I've said that YOU DON"T HAVE TO DISCONNECT THE STEERING ANGLE SENSOR (White plug that is barely shown on this video) in order to replace the Clockspring. That's the main reason for the VDC OFF, Slip and SRS light appearing after the replacement. Please refer to this video for more info. Hope it helps. ruclips.net/video/Ff5JhQFUtJ8/видео.html&ab_channel=AaronNewman
You didn't make another video on why the VDC Off & Slip lights went on.... Would like to know what caused it becuz Im having that issue after my clock spring was changed. Thank you 🙏
I know this video is 2 years old but the way you centered the clockspring was incorrect. The little white piece has to be at the top to fit back in the steering wheel. That could be why the lights were on.
Ok my clockspring didn’t come with any marking point to show where it’s supposed to be positioned. I’m confused as to how to get it to set in the correct position so the vdc and slip lights won’t come on. Please help?
I dont think there is really any real way from. It.. I made sure everything on mine was straight and true and as soon as i rolled forward about 10 feel my vbc and slip is constant on. From what I have seen on forums you have to do a re-learn procedure
I have a 2003 infiniti g35 sedan. I was told to call the dealer give them my vin number so I can get the correct part number is that right? Or how did you get the correct part?
So i just had this problem just today when the shop changed the Clockspring on my 2007 aRMADA due to the flashing airbag indicator light. I bought the Clockspring in Ebay aftermarket i believe.....not OEM. So what its doing now after it was installed is when i drove away from the shop it started having the VDC problem like a pulsating/grinding effect. Brought it back to the shop and they inspected. They found out that the Steering Angle Sensor was not functioning..........the scanner showed it zero degrees on straight and when turning the steering wheel left and right it still stays at zero degrees. Do you think the Clockspring is bad or not compatible with the OEM Steering Angle Sensor thats why its not reading it? Or the Clockspring connected to the Steering Angle Sensor need to be calibrated or do a relearn?? Does it need alignment and they need to reset the Steering Angle Sensor?? Please help.
@@franciscoreyes771 If you placed the angle sensor exactly the same position as it was placed on the old clock spring, you wouldn't have all these issues with VDC and SLIP... now you need to re-calibrate using special Nissan software
hey can someone help me... i ended up taking out the clockspring but the position of it that i was suppose to mimic on the other one got messed up nd spun a couple times and i don't know what position it was on and i tried different ones and nothing same issue. is there any way i can reposition it to the same position i had before so everything can start to work again? Thanks for the video. Replaced mine today. As with yours, I know have the airbag, slip, and VDC lights on. I've tried the reset at the end of your video, but didn't work. Did you get your's fixed???
Jeff Black Ya I ended up paying a guy 30 bucks, he reset it with his advanced scanner. If you ask guys working at the auto parts store, sometime they can give you a name, that’s how I got to know this guy.
Hello please help me out.... I just replaced my clock spring and got the slip and vdc lights. Now my car started braking on its own when driving. The lights won’t go away help
Hi, it happened to me too, I know a guy with an advanced scanner, not the ODB2 code reader, I paid him to come over and reset my car, it was fine after that.
Well guess u have to program the clock spring with certain software from Infiniti. Just found out. VDC and slip lights came on after replacing the clock spring.
buddy I centered mine but how tf am I supposed to put the wheel back straight. you skipped that part. went thru all that trouble to get screwed. are you trolling!!!!????!!!??!!
My VDC light is on it doesn’t affect my driving. I took it to a parts house and they clear the code but it came back. I seen you write something about having to recalibrate the angle sensor or something. Can you give me more info on this please
Gera Mendoza Ya, unplug battery didn’t clear it. I hooked up with a guy with an advanced scanner, he recalibrated the center position, then the VDC and Slip alarms are gone.
So now you are back to the factory setting on the clock spring when you turned back 1/8 of a turn! So all that video where you tried to recenter the spring was useless and a waist of our time!

MrWati25 Thanks, good point. I think I should have just not rotated it, there is a plastic holder to hold it in the center position.

The ring sensor just moves with the clock spring. Its function is separate from steering wheel controls.
