I appreciate this video! I was in the process of swapping out my clock spring and felt perhaps I’ve ordered the wrong part, because the steering angle sensor wasn’t on the new one. Luckily I saw your video, and saw that I need to remove the steering angle sensor and place it into the new clock spring. It was easy peasy and everything works!! Thanks!!
Great video. I had to replace my steering angle sensor on my 2010 Pathfinder. I followed your video step by step. Now my VDC, Slip & ABS dash lights are out. Putting it all back together was a slight challenge without a video to follow, but non the less I got it done. I also had to have the sensor calibrated by a mechanic. I thank you for that video..
I would try leaving the center bolt on the last few threads when pulling steering wheel off. It will help so you don't yank it into yourself when it breaks loose.
Just replaced clockspring on my 2011 pathfinder. I had to take off steering angle sensor off old clockspring and put it on new like in your video. Everything was fixed as far as my horn, steering wheel buttons, but now I’m having traction control problems. When I make any turns, the vehicle makes a grinding noise like if the brakes are engaging and the slip light comes on temporarily… will taking to a shop to have the steering angle sensor recalibrated or relearned fix that issue or do I need to buy a brand new SAS?
Did recalibrating the steering angle sensor remove the traction control and slip light issue? I will be replacing the steering angle sensor and was curious if it would need calibrated or if it would be good to go?
Hello - Thanks for the video! I wish I had seen it two days ago. I just replaced my combo switch (using some written guidance on a forum site), but in my case, I had to remove the white plastic piece you refer to as a "clip bracket" at the 5:32 mark of the video). Was that supposed to stay on? I ask because even though I replaced the steering angle sensor, I am still getting VDC OFF and SLIP since I made the switch.
As far as I understood the video, after you install all and just before you going to install the steering wheel then at that moment is that you remove the white plastic piece. Is that right Stuff 4 Guyz ??
I did this and I noticed the teeth for the position angle sensor dont sit into the slots of the new spiral cable. I see yours in the video didnt either. My slip flashes when I turn right and my left front loses traction. I turned the steering sensor to what I think is center and I no longer have my slip light on or loose traction on my front right but my vdc and slip are both on no flashing
Yes. Always disconnect the negative battery and wait 3-5 minutes before messing with the SRS system. You have to disconnect the driver airbag to replace the clockspring so you are interacting with the SRS here.
Did this vehicle exhibit the slip amd abs lights? My pathfinder had an alignment and when I got it back had code for front right abs (which i replaced) abs light went out and right back on. Now getting code c1143 for steering angle sensor.
Every time you disconnect the battery on either a Pathfinder, Xterra or Frontier, from 2005 and up (up to 2012 for Pathfinder), you need to have the steering angle sensor recalibrated at the dealer. Or from shops that have the highend devices (Snap-on or Autel computer). There's no way around it. Sorry.
I tried to ask nissan to reset mine and how much, they said uhhh wow we've never been asked that before uh I'd say an hour in labor so around $140 to do that. I said uhhh to plug it in and press a button or two? C'mon dude.... Smh
So does the slip light and vdc light turn off after the install or what do you have to do to take them off I was told that an alignment could help reset it but that didn’t help so I know that I have to replace my steering angle position sensor
Where did you get your clockspring? There are two different types that look exactly the same but the steering angle sensor will not fit on most new clock springs. the dowel pins don't line up and the bore on the new ones are slightly larger. The new one you brought is the right one I need. It's a common issue with us Armada owners. Thanks in advance.
Finally someone with the same issue I just now had. I'm gonna return mine and get a clockspring off eBay hoping it's in good shape and buy the replacement sensor cause mines bad.... But yes I had to install my old parts because the old sensor did not fit the new spring
See I ordered a new clockspring assembly from Napa and when I just went to install it, I noticed the angle sensor, the little white teeth did not match up or even touch the assembly, so had to reinstall all the old parts smh.
But then after installing new steering angel sensor, my vdc off and slip lights are on now. I'm assuming need to get it calibrated and or programed for it to turn off@@AlmightyyCres
hi. im looking for a clock spring for my Nissan Navara D40 2009 model. I saw one but the seller wants an OEM number. Im not able to get this number from the firm. Any other suggestions?
Be careful guys my new clock spring didn’t come with a steering position sensor, somehow while swapping the original steering sensor to the new clock spring I broke it. It’s $800 bucks for the sensor. So be careful.
Hi guy, nice video :-) Where can I buy the new spring ring on ebay? There are only springs with bigger middle plastic ring on whitch is axle sensor so it does not fits :( Thank you!
HI, I can only find the model with the bigger middle ring too. Did you manage to find the right spring? The one from the car has a model number of 25560-EC49B which I can't find anywhere

Thank you for showing the angle sensor location, I didn't realize it was mounted to the back....saved a lot of unnecessary research

Don’t know if you’re still watching this but I am having the exact same issues. How did you get it fixed???

May have to get dealership to reset and recalibrate the angle sensor

They should fit snug together. There are down/pin alignment slots so that they fit together correctly.
Can you use the ols angle sensor and just add it to the new spring clock
Yes, that's the idea. If your old SAS is good, just swap it over.
Did you have to disconnect the battery before you worked on it?
Yes. Always disconnect the negative battery and wait 3-5 minutes before messing with the SRS system. You have to disconnect the driver airbag to replace the clockspring so you are interacting with the SRS here.

Will a bad angle sensor cause steering wheel looseness free play when trying to drive straight ?
So does the slip light and vdc light turn off after the install or what do you have to do to take them off I was told that an alignment could help reset it but that didn’t help so I know that I have to replace my steering angle position sensor
Must complete steering angle relearn procedure at Nissan or 3rd party shop

Same issue here 2008.
did you find out which one to order?

Same exact experience here and the teeth your talking about didnt match up in the video either

Will this cure no horn and cruise control malfunction?
Yes it will
how did you remove the wiper and blinker levers? you left that part out!
those pull off they pop off.
wow....I was locking for this video...
very good chief...
thanks man.

stevenrajh that's pretty much a USA Nissan Frontier with a V6. Should match
Hi, what is the part name?..Thank you
Do you unscrew the 19mm nut for the steering wheel anti clockwise?
Alan Mc Cabe yes
what model is this?
Be careful guys my new clock spring didn’t come with a steering position sensor, somehow while swapping the original steering sensor to the new clock spring I broke it. It’s $800 bucks for the sensor. So be careful.

No, its impossible! But you can only switch the the middle cable. Its not so easy, but its works :-)
I noticed that the replacement only had the yellow wire and not the orange as well. How did that work?
