- Join us as we visit the filming locations to the 1986 tv movie...The Worst Witch. The Worst Witch stars Tim Curry, Fairuza Balk, Diana Rigg, Charlotte Rae and is based on the 1974 children's book of the same name.
The Worst Witch follows Mildred Hubble (Fairuza Balk), who is the worst witch ever to attend Miss Cackle's Academy for Witches. Mildred causes many mishaps, including being late for school, making all her classmates fall down, Mildred and her friend unintentionally turning themselves invisible, and transforming the class bully Ethel into a pig. The climax surrounds Miss Cackle's notorious evil twin sister, Agatha, plotting to take over the academy. Ultimately Agatha is foiled by Mildred, and Mildred establishes herself as the hero for the academy.

This movie introduced me to Tim Curry when I was 6 years old. I've been watching his movies ever since. This is still one of my favorite Halloween movies at 43 years old. Thank you for sharing this video.

Faruza Balk was the worst witch in this movie. She went on to become a horrible witch in the movie "the craft". Faruza Balk really was a practicing witch, at the time she filmed the craft movie. She was able to help with making some of the "crafting" scenes to be more authentic in the movie. I love Faruza Balk. Thanks for putting this together I love it ❤️
She was my crush in this movie as a kid, but not in The Craft. That had to go to Neve Campbell, who's best known for Scream! Even now at 37 years old, it's still gotta be Neve in both The Craft AND Scream! Maybe she's put a spell on me? 😋😂👻
She definitely had a witchy vibe. Even in that Oz movie. She nailed that role in The Craft. She legit felt psychotic.

One of my all time favorite movies! I watch it every Halloween day, but also when I’m needing a Halloween boost in the off season 🎃 I often fantasized about going to Miss Cackles Academy when I was little. I use to wait every year for this movie to come on HBO, when I saw the promo I knew it was officially halloween season.
I was a huge fan of anything to do with witches as a kid in the '80s but I never knew this film existed. Can not wait to watch the film.

Great video! I also come back to the movie every Halloween, and I realized as an adult just how well written it is. Like the scene in the potions classroom, the reason that they turned invisible is because Mildred was so upset that she couldn’t remember how to make the laughter potion, all she wanted to do was disappear. That was her true feelings so that’s how her potion turned out! Poor Maude, along for the ride haha. And when she tried to turn Ethel into a toad, subconsciously she really thought that Ethel was acting like a pig, so that’s what happened! It’s when she is battling the bad witches in the woods that her intention and her words finally match and she’s able to control her magic for the first time. It’s so empowering for her! You realize she wasn’t the worst witch, she was actually a very powerful witch that needed the confidence she wasn’t getting through traditional methods in the classroom. Anyway, it’s wonderful to see the school as it is today. Thanks for a great tour!

Child of the 80's/90s here and im little sad that I missed out on this movie, it looks like something I would of loved. But I never came across it growing up. I guess its never too late I'll have to give it a watch.
I started watching this movie when I was 17 and watched it every Halloween 🎃 then I watched it with my kids every Halloween 🎃 and now my kids watch it every Halloween 🎃 with my grandkids and I. That’s what makes a classic a classic. It becomes a family tradition.

Tim curry’s song is the best thing about this movie. It was hilarious. He and the adults got somewhat drunk on sloe gin provided by Diana Rigg as it was so cold in the night scene and they had to redo the sound as they didn’t sound right!
Oh my goodness thank you for this video! I am a lifelong fan of this movie and Fairuza Balk. Every year, i couldn't wait for this one to come on tv for Halloween. I am Romani (gypsy) and so is Fairuza so it was another reason i have always loved her so much. I still watch the Worst Witch every year and have shown it to my little girl too.
I love Faruza Balk in Return to Oz. We looked a lot a like as kids. I've never seen this movie, but that trailer made me think Harry Potter. I'm guessing this movie must have influenced J.K. Rowling's writing.

The Worst Witch from 1986 was one of my favorite movies to watch as a kid every Halloween season. My parents recorded it on VHS back in 1986, and the scene where The Grand Wizard(Tim Curry) performed the song "Anything Can Happen On Halloween" lives rent-free in my mind to this very day👍

OMG...I absolutely Adored this movie as a young girl growing up in the 80s. I recently foundout the main actress was Fairuza Balk, whom i LOVE in The Craft and Waterboy, and many others. It is so awesome to see other people have thought of this movie. I wonder if this was where Rowling had come up with the idea of Harry Potter?! I tend to believe so. Great memories of this movie! I've always loved this movie somewhere in my closet I have a vhs recording of it that my grandfather made for me back in the late 80s when it first aired and I would watch it multiple times throughout the year and would watch it excessively around Halloween. This just brought back many good memories.

I watched this movie when I was 9, my father rented it for me for Halloween then it became our tradition to watch it every year after that.
