There was only one true Willy Wonka and the Choclate Factory. What a treat. Gene Wilder was a humble wonderful man on screen as well as real life. And his singing was simply amazing. Never forgotten. Thank you Grimm 😊
This is probably the most popular version of the story. Gene Wilder gives possibly the best performance of his career. This made my entire weekend so better. Well done. As always Happy Halloween.
The fact that Peter Ostrum who played Charlie Bucket never did another movie after Willy Wonka made the movie more enduring and special. Gene Wilder should have been nominated for an Oscar. He stole every scene. This is one of those movies that every child should watch growing up.
This is why older movies are so much better. Today's movies are all filmed with CGI and green screen and that is what makes older movies so much better.
As a kid, we always hated the part in the movie when Charlie's Mom sang " Cheer up Charlie" and we used to fast forward the VHS tape. My Grandma would ask us " Why are you doing that? This is a beautiful song and the best part of the movie." Now that I'm an adult, I understand and she was right. It is beautiful and I tend to catch myself singing it all the time.
Wow..I had it on vhs too and would always watch at my Grandma’s house..I would fast forward thru that part too, I just thought it was so long😂, but now that I’m older..it’s one of my favorite parts of the movie..and I’m just 24!
It's an important scene and song because Charlie has to go down the creepy, dark alleyway to sell Dope. Even in 2024 people struggle with minimum wage and can't afford any chocolate at all.
The imbecile that was obviously lying about Charlie selling drugs must be selling drugs itself (notice how he capitalized the word dope. Only a dealer or an addict would even capitalize that word).
My husband and I saw you guys out and about today, but we did not want to bother you. I did want to tell you guys about the time that I saw Gene Wilder, though! I was at the studio taping for the very last episode of his ‘90s sitcom titled “Something Wilder.” The episode was titled “Dr. Roof,” and it may have never aired on TV. The roofer, played by Wallace Shawn, got mixed up with the child psychologist, and vice versa. I can't find the episode anywhere online. Anyway, when Gene walked out onto the stage before the episode started, the audience suddenly got quiet, with the exception of a lot of audience members whispering, “That’s Willy Wonka!” It was magical! Gene was so gracious and so charming, whether or not the cameras were rolling that evening! He bowed to us and blew us kisses, and thanked us all for coming that evening! Thank you for your wonderful video of all of the different filming locations! Now we know that there is a river right in front of the site of the Buckets' house!
Gene Wilder is a gem an absolute legend! No one else has perfected that role of Willy Wonka and no one ever will. It's like the character just came out natural for him. Appreciate you guys showing us the filming locations that's awesome to take a trip down memory lane and being able to see buildings that are still there always apart of history.
I got quite emotional watching this. Thank you so much for making this video, you guys are class. I really love the attention to detail in lining up the shots
In 1987-88 I was 8 or 9 and I got the vhs of this movie and I drove my mom nuts for probably 6 months I watched it everyday. To this day I still have a soft spot for it and no remake or prequel will come close to it Thanks guys for all the great work finding everything that’s left
There’s always a nostalgia go into filming locations that are very important to our childhood that is unbelievable Willie Wonka and the chocolate factory a classic in many peoples eyes
Great video guys ! My mum looked after the actor who played the candy man in hospital many years ago , as a thankyou to all the nurses he signed a few pictures from him in the movie, he signed a picture for me and my brother too , he's passed away now god bless him
Depp had the impossible task of playing Wonka but having to do something different. It seems like he chose to be closer to the Dahl version in the books. I didn't hate Depp's portrayal, but I didn't like Burton's film.
I disagree here. I'm a huge fan of the original Willy Wonka with Gene Wilder, however Johnny Depp completely butchered the character and his movie was almost unwatchable. I forced my way through it, but it was so terrible.
Depp overplayed the part. He came out looking childish and psychotic. Wilder🤩 was more mysterious but comforting. Depp was volatile and aloof. Wilder🤩 was calm and whimsically mischievous. Wilder🤩 was excellent!! RIP GENE🙏
Thank you for bringing a childhood back in the memory of arguably the best children's movie. I saw this in 1971 as a 6 year old boy, and remember walking out of the theatre wishing the movie never ended. Gene Wilder was magical in the movie and I can't imagine anyone as Willy Wonka other than him. I appreciate all the detail you placed on these locations. You did excellent work putting this together...Thank you so much!
U guys have the greatest job ever!!!😊 What kid wouldn't have wanted to go to Willy Wonkas Chocolate Factory?!?! This movie is another favorite of mine.....so I thank you guys!!! Gene Wilder was AMAZING and will ALWAYS be THE BEST WILLY WONKA!!! 💜

Thank you so much for making this video. It gives me so many vivid flashbacks to my childhood. This film is pure magic. I've been to Munich a few times but didn't realise so many iconic scenes were shot there. Thanks for giving me a great reason to return.
In 1971 I watched Willy Wonka at the Edward's Cinema in HB CA where I grew up, one screen theater that was huge, and we paid around 50 cents, and could stay and watch as long as we wanted, such a magical movie!
Huntington Beach 👋! NoHo here! Was in high school in '71, and my classmates RAVED about WW and his Chocolate Factory! As a child I remember watching willy wonka every Thanksgiving, I never knew it was filmed in Germany 🇩🇪, interesting…. 🤔….. I was also born in 1970. Love this movie, thank you for this , it brought back so many memories ❤❤️❤️
The so-called factory where Willy Wonka was made was exactly the opposite of a place rich in candy and chocolate. It was a gas plant that was dirty and smelled of ammonia and sulfur. It was a terrifying place. From the end of the 1970s to the beginning of the 1990s, the site was torn down and rebuilt. Now it looks really nice and peaceful.

Thanks so much for this one. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was a favorite book of mine as a kid and I LOVED the movie! Friday was my Birthday and a friend made a SICK Willy Wonka cake for me. I have my special edition blu-ray signed by ALL the kids as well as Diana Sowle (Mrs. Bucket). I can't even begin to tell you how sweet she was. We chatted, we hugged, and she signed the blu-ray to me and wrote "Just be glad you're you". I smile EVERY time I admire it in my cabinet. I appreciate you guys, as always. Safe travels.

Wish you love and joy . Thankyou. 🖤🐈⬛🖤🐈⬛
For me, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory is right up there with the Wizard of Oz and the original Pippy Longstocking movies. The only movies that captured the magic in my young child heart.
Hi Michael and Jessica :) , I remember this as a child and my son saw it too. Gene Wilder was the only person for the part of Wonka . He had his own child-like side that made this movie so memorable . Thank you for bringing Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory back to life through your walk of the filming locations and narrative . ps I agree Michael Cheer Up Charlie was almost too sad . Jessica I liked the coat your were wearing in one scene . It looked so soft and comphy warm :) Happy Halloween/Merry Christmas too
Thank you! for taking the time to make this video and show most of the filming locations on the iconic and classic Willy Wonka video that I have watched several times.
A wicked look at the location guys. I've got the new Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory steelbook coming tomorrow with the original artwork. I can't wait to experience watching this film in 4K!
this was my favorite movie as a kid,so cool to see these locations. I can't imagine all of the research you guys must have done for all of the locations on this trip . thanks so much!!

OMG I KNEW IT! I guessed it and wasn’t sure but I got it! I am so stupidly excited every time you guys are live and every new video you guys come out with! Oh this is perfect! Can’t believe you guys got to see this!!!!❤
Roald Dahl is an absolutely brilliant writer! Never knew this was filmed in Munich. Looks like a nice city. Should check out 'Tales of the Unexpected' 1980's U.K series, which show cases his stories for adults in the first two series. Really quite dark! Great twists!
I wasn’t born until December 31st, 1995 but I grew up watching this and it was always one of my favorites! That sad scene I was always not loving because then I’d be so sad. But I can’t believe how much the locations actually matched up after all this time it’s crazy but beautiful! Next you would have to find the locations of Johnny Depps Wonka! Tim Burtons version was amazing as well, we had some pretty good Willy Wonkas! Kind of looking forward to Wonka and seeing how different it is ❤
Gene Wilder was born to be Willy Wonka. Absolutely no one could have done it better. That was awesome. Thanks so much.
Like Tim Curry was born to be Franknfurter.

OMG I KNEW IT! I guessed it and wasn’t sure but I got it! I am so stupidly excited every time you guys are live and every new video you guys come out with! Oh this is perfect! Can’t believe you guys got to see this!!!!❤
👍Awesome! Thx for this one! You guys are great!
Roald Dahl is an absolutely brilliant writer! Never knew this was filmed in Munich. Looks like a nice city. Should check out 'Tales of the Unexpected' 1980's U.K series, which show cases his stories for adults in the first two series. Really quite dark! Great twists!
Thanks for the returning memories of this movie, it was fantastic to still see the filming locations. Watching this movie again for sure
Gene Wilder will always be Willy Wonka in our hearts ❤️
gene wilder may he rest in peace was such an unique actor. the factory still looks the same as it was in the early 70s. great made video folks 👌 👍
