Willy Wonka was one of those magical movies that really affected me as a kid (and I think works just as well for adults). The director did a fabulous job, the child actors were great, but without Gene Wilder I don't think it would have had the same impact. You'll be sorely missed, Gene. R.I.P.
This was my favorite movie when I was a kid. PS. For me, this is the ONLY Willy Wonka movie. That Johnny Depp "Charlie And The Chocolate Factory" doesn't even come close.
I was never a big fan of Johnny Depp but I remember thinking, "How dare they remake Willy Wonka!" It's mostly because it was my favorite movie as a kid. In fact, when my mom got my sister both versions on DVD for Christmas, I told her that she better not give me both. She gave me the original Gene Wilder version.
I'm like him, nostalgia is lame, I wouldn't want to do the same crap over again in my life, move on. I can tell he only put his hand up so he wouldn't be the only one not doing it so he wouldn't have to talk about his decision to keep his hand down.
He lives a half hour away from where I live and makes many appearances at my school and still does and says he doesn’t like the spot light and he probably wouldn’t do it all over again 🤷🏼♀️ he’s a great veterinarian tho, he’s definitely found his calling there.
I got to meet Mr. Wilder before he passed when I was in the Florida Keys. He had a house there, and he would often ride his bike to the corner store called Angelo's that my mom worked at, and one day when I was headed there to get some cheese sticks I happened to catch him on his bike, and he stopped and we had a brief but VERY pleasant chat. My mom also worked on his boat once or twice as well and always had pleasant things to say about him. Dude was a legend and an absolute saint.

Not the villain of the movie, but he was the villain of his daughter in law's life
You’re a cheat and a swindler
Grandpa joe is a bernie supporter
Slugworth was kind of a villain until we learn the truth at the very end.
R.I.P. Willy Wonka
I can’t imagine the nostalgia experienced by those who watched it at that time. 😊
Willy Wonka was one of those magical movies that really affected me as a kid (and I think works just as well for adults). The director did a fabulous job, the child actors were great, but without Gene Wilder I don't think it would have had the same impact. You'll be sorely missed, Gene. R.I.P.
The "chocolate river" was simply the sewage line
lol. they should have ended with that.
Chocolate rain.
JohnstasBACK like in epic movie 😂
I don't know if it is just me, but it never looked like chocolate at all to me. It moves like water, not like a thicker liquid.
JohnstasBACK it’s chocolate and water mixed to be more and thinner
I am 54 and I still watch this...the original version...
It will always be one of my favorites. It was great to see them.
This was my favorite movie when I was a kid. PS. For me, this is the ONLY Willy Wonka movie. That Johnny Depp "Charlie And The Chocolate Factory" doesn't even come close.
exactly!!!
+Marie B Ironically enough I love johnny depp and thought he would have made a great wonka
+nexttvmarketing but he didn't:/
+nexttvmarketing I love Johnny too...but, seriously???
I was never a big fan of Johnny Depp but I remember thinking, "How dare they remake Willy Wonka!" It's mostly because it was my favorite movie as a kid. In fact, when my mom got my sister both versions on DVD for Christmas, I told her that she better not give me both. She gave me the original Gene Wilder version.
Wow what a wonderful feeling I get when remembering this classic. Gene will be truly missed
Gene Wilder was the most Savage
Help. Police. *Murder.*
#savageapproved
Lmao
I miss them when they were kids. I wish we can go back to 1971 and meet their kid version.😭😩
Peter Ostrum (i think that's how you spell it) was at my cousin's wedding lol. I got to talk to him for a bit.
Majestic Monkey that’s cool 😎
What did u ask him i really what to know....
LIESL DAVIS cap
@LIESL DAVIS liar
The guy who plays Charlie really hates the spotlight, he was hesitant on raising his hand to wanting to do it all over again lol
I wouldn't want to do it again if it meant getting yelled at by someone who I became friends with.
I have personally met Denise Nickerson, she is a patient from my old job. She is really down to earth and funny as hell!
A beautiful childhood classic❤️ Rip Denise
Julie Dawn Cole looks ten times younger than Denise Nickerson but they're both the same age
Cigarettes will do that to you.
melisa d gum will do that to you #staywoke
melisa d drugs
The commentary was wrong, Julie Dawn Cole did carry on acting. I remember her in the TV series "Nurses", I think it was called.
I remember Julie Dawn Cole when she was in the t.v series Angels. Must of been about 1975. Great series on the BBC.
This movie makes me cry all the time because I love it so much.
Dude was a legend and an absolute saint.
by looking at the thumbnail I thought they were the ones who played the oompa loompas
itsammar1 same lol
Idk why I’m just doing this now but same here
one of the best movies of all time. never get bored of watching it.
This is so special I’m teary eyed. Love the book so much.
Rip Gene Wilder, Denise Nickerson, Jack Albertson, and all the other cast from the original Willy Wonka that has passed away in the nearly 50 years since the film was released
Yea only 4 actors are still alive this year
Peter Ostrum: Charlie Bucket
Paris Teman: Mike Teevee
Michael Boulder: Augustus Gloop
Julie Dawn Cole: Veruca Salt
@@diegopalacios1171 and 2 of the oompa loopma actors
its so beautiful to know that they all had such a good time and are life long friends! 🥰 Happy 50th anniversary Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory! 🥰🍫
Rest in sweet harmony Denise Nickerson: your phenomenal in everything you brought to "flourishing" life from the Classic Dark Shadows as Amy Jennings etc.,. to the Electric Company, and the Classic Willy Wonka film as Violet with legendary actor Gene Wilder.
Ms. Nickerson you are a treasure & will be missed, whole heart.
That's right - a lot of people forget that she was part of The Short Circus on "The Electric Company." And she sang her own songs herself!
@@zabadazidit Yes, she/Denise did sung all their (w/team backup singers) music tunes themseves: the scene priceless with Morgan Freeman introducing them. Funny, cool & hip!!
Sad that Gene Wilder passed. But, he gave a awesome performance. One of my favorite movies.
That is the cutest Oompa Loompa he’s so happy to have been part of that!! So happy for him
I'm here after founding out the one who acts as violet died 😟RIP
This is one if my all time favorites. Saw it in the theatre when it came out. I was 5 or 6. Love love love!
This was shot while Wilder was still alive, but when that guy says, "Let's send our very best to the great Gene Wilder" he points up, as if he's suggesting Wilder is up in heaven.
I noticed that too, made me check the date on the video
sadly, when someone gets diagnosed with serious Alzheimers, its a beginning to an end, I'm guessing they all knew that. I so hope they find a cure to the disease, nothing is more horrid
tomaf what time?
Rest In Peace Denise Nickerson!
I mean it always just looked like water
“Well, I’m a gum chewer normally. But when I heard about these rolls-of-weed things, I laid off the gum and switched to drugs instead.”
Gibby i just died a little reading this♥️
Don't smoke. EVER!
she passed away ☹️

“Rolls of weed” are you serious
My childhood all over again! Wow! Love this movie! One of the best children’s movies of all time!
I actually went to school with Peter Ostrum. He really is a nice guy and the success never went to his head.
