A great, great rock and roll track. Ricky was up there with Elvis, Eddie and Gene. With James Burton on guitars, Ricky could do no wrong. An underrated talent.
strat, I was sixteen in 1958 and I am so glad to have been in at the birth of rock and roll. Clssic r and r was pouring out of the radio every day. I nearly passed out the first time I heard Rebel Rouser.
Super Merci pour ce partage Ricky Nelson toujours excellent Une voix magnifique qui sort vraiment du lot J'aime beaucoup son rock Genre rockabilly Magique
He's an aloof teenager Elvis wasn't even on tv at that age so you can't compare. Just because Elvis acted and put on more of a show of his feelings does not make him more authentic either just more of a show boat. He swivels his hips Ricky just blinks.
On this day in 1957 {December 29th} "Stood Up"* by Ricky Nelson peaked at #2 {for 3 weeks} on Billboard's 'Best-Sellers In Stores' chart, for the three weeks it was at #2, the #1 record for those three weeks was "At The Hop" by Danny and the Juniors... "Stood Up" reached #8 on Billboard's Best-Selling Country and Western Records In Stores chart... Between 1957 and 1973 he had fifty-three records on the Top 100 chart, nineteen made the Top 10 with two reaching #1, "Poor Little Fool" for 2 weeks in 1958 and "Travelin' Man" for 2 weeks in 1961... Sadly, Eric Hilliard Nelson passed away at the young age of 45 on December 31st, 1985... May he R.I.P. * "Stood Up" was Ricky Nelson's second of two of his records to peak at #2, his other #2 record was "A Teenager's Romance" for one weeks earlier in 1957... And from the 'For What It's Worth' department, the remainder of the Best-Sellers In Stores' Top 10 on December 29th, 1957: At #3. "Great Balls of Fire" by Jerry Lee Lewis #4. "April Love" by Pat Boone #5. "Peggy Sue" by Buddy Holly #6. "Jailhouse Rock" by Elvis Presley #7. "Jingle Bell Rock" by Bobby Helms #8. "You Send Me" by Sam Cooke #9. "Kisses Sweeter Than Wine" by Jimmie Rodgers #10. "Raunchy" by Bill Justis
My FAVORITE Ricky Nelson song EVER! Thanx for posting. One minor correction, on this song, it's Joe Maphis playing "Lead" guitar not James. Burton came in on the next set of recording sesions that included "Believe What You Say" and "My Bucket's Got A Hole In It".
Fully aware that Ricky was the sensation to end all sensations for the teens of 1957, I still am compelled to say if Paul Petersen had been about five years older, I'd much rather have heard him sing this song on The Donna Reed Show. I felt Paul had much more personality and I preferred his voice and looks to Ricky's. Just my viewpoint.
You're half-right: James Burton -is- on this recording, but he's the rhythm guitarist. The soon-to-leave Joe Maphis played the lead fills. Listening to the guitar with this in mind, you can hear that it's not the JB style.
I'd delete those comments if I was you it's not safe to put personal information on the internet I'd be amazed if people didn't prank call or send something in the mail.
even the sad songs then were upbeat... these days all love related songs are like this: BUAAAAAAA i wanna kill myself because im ugly and i will never get a bf
Mafia 2 Empire Central Radio!
Thanks for this beautiful songs!
Who would leave Ricky Nelson stood up on a date? I am a boy, but this guy is handsome!
I say the same thing, I am afraid of people calling me gay, but I really admire his looks, because I am not a handsome one myself...
How could anyone stand you up, Ricky?! Look at that gorgeous face!!
A life lost too soon.
Evie K Sad to lose a good singer like him so early
+Evie K Now do you really believe, Ricky or Elvis for that matter, ever spent a Saturday night home alone, sitting by the phone? LoL
got to see him many years ago, sadly my autograph got destroyed by rain. he could rock a show
He's on par with Elvis in terms of looks
sexy guy
A great, great rock and roll track.

I watched an interview with James Burton and he said he misses him everyday. They made a good team

One thumb up if you play it in your car out loud (volume blasted) in real life... but TWO thumbs up if your car is like any of the ones in the game.
he's hot af
as michelle tanner would say: you got it dude!
