Growing up (3 years younger than Ricky), I was "in love with him". We used to watch the wise cracking kid on TV, & then he became a singer. I'd cut out all pictures I could find & filled a big scrapbook. At 17 I went off to Nursing School living in a dorm. I came home once to find my mother had cleaned out my closet & threw my scrapbook away. Shocked & "pissed off". In earl 80's I had the great excitement & pleasure to see Rick live, front row left at John Asquagas Nugget in Sparks, Nevada . Still loved him.
The most infuriating part about the rags claiming that drugs caused the crash that killed Mr. Nelson is that not only was it the bad heater but, as per the autopsy , the very last act he did was to use his own body to attempt to shield his doomed fiancee Helen Blair from burning to death. Yes, he died a HERO and yet this barely got any mention!
I loved Rick Nelson I loved all his songs. I watched him and David as they were growing up. I don’t thank I missed any tv shows of Ozzie and Harriet. RIP Rick. God bless all your family.
Those were great years to grow up. My husband was an Elvis fan, but he was 3 years older than me. Ricky was the one I idolized and I still have a couple of his albums. I'd stare at those eyes on the covers. A beautiful person, I always thought.
Great video and what a sad ending. Glad the video made it pretty clear that the crash wasn't about free basing, just a faulty heater in the plane. Impressed with his kids, particularly his daughter who stuck with him. I was in high school while Rick was making the hits (grad 1958). I remember the girls loving him. As I remember it, there were only two factions - either they loved Elvis or they loved Ricky. Nobody else but them - to paraphrase a line in one of his songs.
How could anyone ever boo Ricky? Even Bob Dylan said that he wished he could sing like Ricky Nelson because Ricky just walked up to the microphone and out came his beautiful voice and music. My mother used to sing along with him, to the vinyl albums we had. I learned to play rythm guitar playing along to his music.
On Christmas Eve 1958 I was 11 years old. My cousin played Ricky's hit "Lonesome Town" on his parents' hi fi. I was instantly hooked on Rick's music I had to hear more! This video is a wonderful tribute..
I am speechless, what a tradgy,me and my sisters thought he would be singing with his kids someday, like his parents were on t,v, real sad, very handsome, the boy next door💖 we were crazy over him 😄💯💜 ,all the young girls were, when he got married,my sisters were upset , what a crush I had on him💝 thank you for the documentary,
Being born in '53 I wasn't able to enjoy the great music of the 50's & very early 60's until I was a little older. For all the great music the "British Invasion" brought us,it pretty much killed rock n roll as people knew it. Now at 70,I still enjoy listening to all of it,no matter where the musicians are from! There's certain dates that always stay with you. The plane crash that took Rick & the others, are one for me. Just like Patsy Cline & the rest. What an awful thing to happen on your 10th birthday! I think I'll say goodbye now & go listen to some of Rick's great music. ❤
I always enjoyed Ricky singing at the conclusion of "The Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet." television program. His songs were catchy and his talent was unmistakable. (In his autobiography, Bob Dylan stated how much he loved Ricky's singing voice...). I caught Rick's final show at the Universal Amphitheater, opening for the great Fats Domino in 1985, and was treated to their duet of "I'm Walkin'...! Years later I saw his sons' show of a tribute to their dad, doing his hits with a band that included Skunk Baxter of Doobie Brothers fame on the steel guitar. Quite a time! Thanks for the music... RIP, Rick Nelson.
I loved watching the Ozzie and Harriet show ❤. Rick Nelson was really a great singer and actor. Loved his songs. This truly was a tragedy and ❤breaking.
I attended a Rick Nelson concert in the early 1980s, and got to meet him. Rick was a very nice, polite, and humble guy. I grew up watching him on his family's t.v. show back in the 1950s and 1960s, so it was great to see him in person. He and Elvis were two of the best entertainers and also two of the best looking guys of all time. My 9 year-old grandson has been watching reruns of Ricky's old t.v. show. He enjoys it, and thinks young teenage Ricky was funny. I told him we teenagers back in the day watched the show just to look at Rick's hair, and listen to him sing of course. LOL!! My favorite Rick Nelson song has always been: "Traveling Man". His dad, Ozzie, is credited with the first ever 'rock music video' because he put together some film clips as a backdrop for the song.
He inspired many of us in his time of life and he is not forgotten. He gave his all to his craft! Hod rest his soul and the souls of all the others as well.❤
Had Eric Hilliard Nelson aka Ricky Nelson aka Rick Nelson survived that tragic plane crash on that fateful day of December 31, 1985, he'd be 83 on the 8th of May A.D. 2023. This wonderful musician, song writer and actor died much to young at the age of 45. 😔 I remember where I was and what I was doing on that fateful day. How about you? 🤔
Just saw the story of Rick Nelson. Watched him grow up on his parents TV show which I enjoyed very much. I became a fan of Rick's music. As time went on I became a professional drummer and started a rock band of my own. Before his tragic I had contacted his manager to set up an audition to be part of the band. I had always wanted to meet Rick in person and play for him. I met his twin boys at a concert and told them that I was going to audition for the band. I'm so glad I got to meet the twins. Rick was a class act and very sincere about his music and his life. The Nelson family was as nice off camera as they were on. Such a special family and very talented. I think about Rick a lot especially when I hear his music. They also use his music in commercials. The music today cannot compare with the music from that time period. It was a very special person and made very special music which is the background sound to our lives. We miss you Rick in so many ways. God bless you forever. 🙏
Ricky and Randy Meisner together were just to awesome for words. I never got to meet Ricky, but I met Randy several times and I cannot say enough wonderful things about him.
Aside from his great talent, Randy seemed like such a fine person. Even found Rick a replacement for himself when he left Rick's band to join the fledgling Eagles.
This is a really good documentary that allowed me to get to know Ricky a little bit. Being born in 1956, I was a little behind but I was quite familiar with many of his early hits. I guess I was a wee bit surprised that I didn't hear anything of my favourite song of his which is Young World. To me, that song unfolds the magic and beauty of what it was like to be alive in the late 50s and early 60s. He seemed to be a fairly normal person with the troubles that all of us face at some time in our lives. I'll have to look into his music a bit more. Thank you for providing this video.
Same attributes that made him a TV star made him a rocanroler. Don't take my word for it , look up what Elvis had to say about Rick. Memphis Dan LeLoLai
He was also Mark Harmon's brother-in-law. And Mark had a lot of good things to say about him. And his daughter looks so much like her mom. With some resemblance I've heard that as well. When I was younger I was watched the Ozzie and Harriet TV show oh, and loved it. Even though I didn't see it until sometime in the mid-60s. I was Ricky Nelson fan then, and still am just like a fan I'm a fan of Elvis
i think tracy, the twins look like ricky. sam looks like his uncle mark harmon! mark sought parental control over sam after rick's death. mark's sister, kris, was into drugs. he wanted sam in a safe environment. huge fight that went on. betty gordon, iowa
I still watch The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet shows. I can see that had he lived, Rick might easily have been seen on talent contest shows like American Idol, The Voice, etc. What a tragic loss of such a great human being and what he gave to us in his music. Love you pal.
I can remember when I was a kid my brothers and sisters had all of his music . I am sitting watching this today and I honestly didn’t realise he was so gorgeous. So tragic he passed so young. RIP 🙏
So sorry Rick had to leave us . People are so disrespectful , don't know what they are talking about,Rick Nelson,I still love you an always will , you are my ❤ .I hurt when I see you and you singing,my heart aches, love you so so much and may God bless your family.
I remember when the plane crash came on the news...sad for sure. When I heard about the tabloid BS years later as i got older it made me hate them all the more as my gut told me Rick didn't do that. His music is, to me, timeless. I hope his kids tell themselves each day how much their dad was loved by so many and still is..I know I love all the music he made and made me feel good about things in life...and still does.
yes, i was angry also saying rick was free-basing in the plane. news sensalized it to the extreme. i sure didn't see much when they were WRONG; no apologies. so sorry for the nelson family/all band members/pilot for what they were put thru the wringer about that. betty gordon, iowa fan forever
I saw Ricky Nelson in a film clip in 1958 or 59..great singing style, laid-back approach seemed so natural, effortless..plus he had this really great guitar..took me years to afford one, but l have one now, and sing his songs..what a tragic end to such a talent, who inspired me.
This was wonderful. I grew up watching Ricky on TV. We were born the same year. I still listen to his music on my iPhone. He was a real inspiration to me. I was fortunate to hear his twin boys in concert in Topeka, Kansas several years ago. I am so glad I stumbled across this. excellent video of Rick’s life!
I saw him in concert in a small club in Texas. A friend and I moved and sat right below him. A great concert of one of my favorite artists. Sadly he was in that wreck not too long after I saw him.❤❤
Myself being born in 57. As a young boy growing up watching him on the TV series. With my older brother and two older sisters. It was the coolest thing to watch him sing. And thinking he was first and foremost a musical entertainer. Second to the TV show. I always thought his mom and dad made him be in the family show. I don't know about anyone else but. I wished I could sing and be that good looking growing up. What a beautiful man. And you can see it runs in the family. Cherish you all 💞
Thanks for sharing this doc., Earl. what a great thing...being able to hear what his kids had to say about him...let alone the rest of his family. I loved his music and remember being at our beachhouse when I heard of his death. I just couldn't stop crying. I had so wished I could've gone to one of his concerts when he was young, but for such a wish, I'd probably not be alive today. Alas, Ricky Nelson was one of the best parts of the 1950's. Sadly, many more of my idols would fall in the 1970's/'80's. The one thing that stands out-at any age-is how quickly we face our own mortality when we lose people we care about. Ya, it was worse when I lost my folks, but still. Anyway, thanks to such singers as Rick, I tried my own hand at songwriting and had a lot of fun for about 10 years. Eventually, reality catches up to all of us! rl
Happy to share it. I know it's a cobbled together edit, but certain corporate entities have already taken it down once. They won't make available anywhere else though so I am happy to be able to share it as long as I can. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for doing this. I grew up watching the TV show and listening to his records, and I always thought he was an excellent song writer and performer.
He played in a club in Halendale Fla. . Hope he wasnt using. I had really enjoyed him .Such a handsome man. He was my second choice.Thats where I heard him sing Went to a garden party. He was so good I was .23 years old Now im just an old fan. 😊
Ricky's plane -- a World War II vintage DC 3 -- crashed in a De Kalb, Texas pasture on Dec. 31, 1985, killing all seven passengers. The section of the plane is at the Williams House Museum in Dekalb is most definitely from the plane that Nelson crashed in and was given to the museum by the Nelson family. There is also a very nice exhibit inside the museum pertaining to Ricky and the crash including news coverage from the night he died. My ex son-in-law was born in Dekalb Texas and was one of the first to the crash site the night the plane wreck happened. Ricky was 3 weeks older then I am so I watched all the Nelsons a lot on TV when I was young. A great great thorough video that I enjoyed very much! Ricky was one of the great ones!
I'm so glad you shared this documentary . My family and I were living in the middle east when Rickie and his family were beginning their show so I only got yo watch it when we went home for holidays. I can't believe I was born in the same year! I always valued the family ethics and wholesome relationships portrayed on the show and when Ricky's family spoke of him I could sense their strength and resilience in their character. I never heard the rumour until this evening but there is no way that would have happened. Thanks again.
I’m old enough to remember hearing Rick’s music in real time on the radio & I picked his music over Elvis’ music every time. I don’t know why he wasn’t bigger than Elvis.
When did this doc originally air? It’s so good….. my mom was born in 1940 and I always remember her playing garden party on her record player all the time. I was only 14 when Ricky died but I know my mom was devastated… I wish my mom got to see RUclips so she could have watched Ozzie and Harriet in reruns… Thank you so so much for posting this!!!! 💚
Indeed. A Prince Charming is Ricky Nelson. A great musician- He sure is. He has such a sweet voice.. is a teen idol’s. I love him. The world loves him. 1985- the plane clashed …. he’s passed, along with his entire band. A shock! A cruel, terrifying tragedy for everyone involved. I’m still having tears whenever thinking of this tragic. They’ve gone to the better place. 16 Oct 2023.
I still remember watching him sing at the end of the show. I can’t watch the rest of this it just hurts so much even at 67. I loved the song “ I went to a garden party “r I p Ricky
I was never a big fan of Ricky Nelson, but the TV series and some of his hits were part of my life. Thus I am grateful for this documentary as it documents part of my own life. Ricky was a gentleman.
It seems like, despite valiant efforts by Rick to be taken seriously as a songwriter and singer, the image that remains to this day is Ricky Nelson, teen idol, cute kid on a family sitcom. I know he's not the only actor or singer to have battled this. Some people could never see Michael Nesmith as anything other than the guy wearing the wool hat on "The Monkees" tv show. There are probably people who wished the Beatles had just sung "I Wanna Hold Your Hand" forever. I suppose those fans at Madison Square Garden in 1971 expected to see crewcut little Ricky Nelson singing "Be Bop Baby" with Ozzie playing banjo beside him and Harriet offering cookies to the crowd. RIP Rick, you were much better than that.
I remember I was entertaining in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, by the Mississippi River when I heard he had been killed in an airplane crash. I loved singing his song Garden Party, and remember hearing all of his earlier records in the 1950's growing up. He really had such a smooth voice which conveyed a lot of emotion.
Garden party was Legacy of his life. You can't please everyone you just have to please yourself. Reminds me of something I heard before when you love yourself you're able to love others. And if others don't love you oh, you still have self love. And their opinion doesn't matter then. Rip Ricky.
Thank U for this video I watched Rick back when There was Ozzie & Harriet Ricky & David Such a beautiful family He had a beautiful voice right up there with Elvis. His dad wasn’t the kindest but 🤷🏼♀️ So sad how his life was shortened Gone way to soon RIP Rick Nelson u were one amazing guy 💜☮️
It is a DAMN SHAME the stories about freebasing because I really believed them. Now that I have seen the pilot audio, the age of the plane, the crash scene I know that was total BS.
His daughter and youngest son look so much like him.. The twin boys looked like their mum .. He was truly a beautiful, talented & kind soul .. RIP Ricky 🙏
Every time I watch these Ricky Nelson documentaries, and seeing how he kept coming back, coming back... I feel if he would not have died so young, he would have made the biggest comeback of his career, solving all his money problems. What a shame when the good guys go too soon. His poor his, feel bad for them losing their Dad, they were so proud of him. And he loved them so much. RIP Ricky. We will always remember you and and play your music forever. ❤❤
Ricky Nelson was a very good singer. He was also a very good actor said that him and his wife try to get back together but it didn't work would have liked it but everyone has problem sometimes it can't be solved but he went on better person in singer. About that plane crash one of the accidents that always happen when you least expect it fire broke out and they crashed couldn't have got in a place where they wouldn't have crashed like they didn't everybody would have lived he might be missed on Earth but he is in heaven let him rest in peace but his music will carry on for other Generations sorry for your loss you children and ex-wife and the people that he was around he still loved his family no matter what God has blessed him we need to let him rest in peace and he also loved his father mother and brother it was his father who brought him to more of his music. I know he was lost without him. When Ricky died he left his children an ex-wife but he also left his mother and his brother who cared a lot about him too thank you Ricky Nelson For the Good Times of your music and your acting career amen thank you all God bless

I loved Rickey Nelson when I first saw him singing.on TV many years ago . I was so sad when he died and after all these years he still holds a special place in my heart❤!❤❤
Loved his music! Saw his sons in concert. They played all hits Great concert. When Rick passed part of me passed w/him.What a shame! Never missed the TV show! RIP Rick!!!Jerry
I remember Chris being on Ozzie & Harriet growing up. I faithfully watched them felt like forever til Rick was gone in that helicopter accident just fixed. A faulty heater. So sad. We lost some pretty amazing people that day I don’t understand how the pilots got out though 🙏
Watched him when he was a kid with his parents and brother break my heart ♥️ when he and band passed in airplane crash. I didn’t believe when they said it was drugs. R. I.P. You are missed 🙏🥰😢🌈
I feel so bad that his children had to find out that their Pops death on the radio and they had to deal with everyone saying that he died because of drugs. I don't believe that Rick Nelson was ever involved in that kind of thing. Elvis and Ricky were so good looking.
This was the biggest question the years that Ricky Nelson was a music star. Why when he went to the top, didn't he stay there? It was hard to watch as he was beautiful to look at and easy to listen to. I would mourn the loss of his appearances as I absolutely adored him! I have to this day missed him and I always will. R.I.P. my beloved Rick. And God bless you forever! I will never forget you.
the beatles came in 1964 bringing other english bands changing what we listened to here in usa is why. it was terrible that rick's children and ex-wife had to hear on the RADIO about his death vs. being NOTIFIED by officials PRIOR to airing it live in nye 1979!! i'm glad that has changed now since this occurred. so that was the only positive that i see that happened for the better that ALL IMMEDIATE FAMILY BE NOTIFIED FIRST before it's aired on tv, radio, and newspapers. to the NELSON family, i'm so sorry you had to learn of your dad's death this way; unacceptable. it was the same in feb. 1958 when buddy holly's plane with him, big bopper, ritchie valenz, the pilot died leaving clear lake, iowa. they heard of it on tv/radio too!! i loved rick's music having grown up with ozzie, harriett, dave, & ricky. he was so handsome and smooth, easy-going soloist. betty gordon, ames, iowa lifelong fan
Rick Nelson’s songs still hold up today he had a great recognizable voice He was incredibly handsome is an understatement I was on my way to a New Year’s Eve party when I heard of his tragic passing Gone too young Rest In Peace dear Rick and thanks for the music
We've followed James Burton for many years. We always had fun watching for new bands that got James for guitarist. He was the best then and still is the best at 84 years living in his native Louisiana. What a fantastic career he's had. Thanks for t❤he memories.
I met him once at a concert he did at Knott's Berry Farm. He was very talented and kept creating until the end. Next to Elvis there was Rick. Such a handsome man but he seemed somewhat sad to me. I believe he was not happy with himself. Incidentally, he wasn't conceited either.
Born in 1946, I grew up with Ozzie and Harriet, David and Ricky. My whole family watched the show weekly on T.V. and never missed it. Ricky's songs were always played at our school dances. He was so dreamy and cute.
Rick was talented and good-looking. My dad was a huge fan, and I saw him in concert when I was 4 years old right before he died. I don't remember though, I was too young. Now, as for his ex-wife, she was a witch. She knew when she married him he was a musician and musicians travel. If she couldn't handle it, she should've never married him.
So great to see Ricky Nelson Again...he was and is a top. Flight Rocker...Long Live Rick Nelson and his great Music Life can be Cruel..the good die young. Hail Hail Rock and Roll......
Rick was great. Still enjoy his music all the time. Of course he wasn’t Elvis. And yes the skids were certainly greased for his success. BUT he had the TALENT undeniably he had the talent. One of the greats.
The handsomest singer from the 50s. Such beautiful songs 💓 my three older sisters had their favourite singers and Ricky Nelson was one of them. The other two were Pat Boone and Elvis Presley.
38 yrs after his death he's still remembered as a great artist
I have the film about his life, and it's sad

One of my all-time favorite rock 'n roll performers. What a gift he had!
Plus, he was Great looking.
I'm from Australia and I used to love Travelling Man. Rick had a gift

Rick Nelson was phenomenally talented . He is one of my favourite musical artists of all time .
Ricky Nelson was a all time great at what ever he did. I got to see him when he was in Kansas City. He was a great singer. Noone could tophim
The absolute best! Been a fan since 1957 when he was still “ Ricky”. His music never gets old for me.
I have to say this; Ricky Nelson was one of the Most Beautiful men whom God created with a Fantastic voice.
All of us Baby Boom gay kids ( boys ) knew for sure they were gay and there was no denying it when they saw those beautiful eyes.
I liked his TV shows

Today is a sad day. A day like this that fateful plane crash put the coffin's nail in the 50s music. Remember that day well.

Yes, I too watched Rocky until he died I just loved him so much It's sa real loss.

I'm glad Paul McCartney, commented about Rick Nelson. Pure class.
when Elvis Presley went into The Army in 1958, Rick Nelson stepped in as The Top Teen Idol.

Ricky Nelson had it all: guitar, voice, looks, and talent.
Yes, he did. He was better than the Beatles. Period.
He was one of my idles , when i was a teen
From all who knew him said he was also the nicest person you could meet! 🎸🎶🎸🎶 I still watch Ozzie & Harriet and still listen to his music. 🎸🎶🎸🎶🎸 ❤️❤️
Same attributes that made him a TV star made him a rocanroler.
Don't take my word for it , look up what Elvis had to say about Rick.
Memphis Dan LeLoLai
I was crazy about him. Even my dad liked him!

RIP 🙏
I am amazed how much all 4 of his children resemble him. R.I.P. Ricky 😔🎶
So sorry Rick had to leave us . People are so disrespectful , don't know what they are talking about,Rick Nelson,I still love you an always will , you are my ❤ .I hurt when I see you and you singing,my heart aches, love you so so much and may God bless your family.

@@conniedyal7676yes disrespectful indeed!

I remember I was watching CNN on new year's eve 1985 when they broke in with the news..cant believe it's been so long ago now.
Love Rick Nelson, good singer, good man,RIP, Rick Nelson.❤️🎸💃
He had such a good sense of humor as a child, he could always make me laugh.
RRRRRRDR
Heard the twins in McPherson. Never got to see Rick. ❤
He was 5 years younger than Elvis...and on tv every week.😊😊

I saw him in concert in a small club in Texas. A friend and I moved and sat right below him. A great concert of one of my favorite artists. Sadly he was in that wreck not too long after I saw him.❤❤
Great documentary! Thank you.
@@EarlofBaltimore You did a Wonderful Job‼️. Thank You So Much🌺♥️‼️
Thank you for doing this.
There will never ever be anyone like him, never,,,,,
Ricky's plane -- a World War II vintage DC 3 -- crashed in a De Kalb, Texas pasture on Dec.
Ricky Nelson is so underrated:(
Really enjoyed this about Ricky. Enjoyed watching him on television and loved his music.
Ricky did not use drugs .
He was a great human being.
Loved his children and his brother and Mom and Dad.
He had cocaine in his system
@@barbarajackson8053 That doesn't mean he did it all the time, or at all.
Perhaps somebody stuffed in his face on that plane.
How would you know? Were you his best friend?

I saw Rick Nelson in Phoenix in 1982, my god he was handsome! Those blue eyes were mesmerizing!
The song goes, "If there's a rock n roll heaven, then you know they have a hell of a band."
When did this doc originally air? It’s so good….. my mom was born in 1940 and I always remember her playing garden party on her record player all the time. I was only 14 when Ricky died but I know my mom was devastated… I wish my mom got to see RUclips so she could have watched Ozzie and Harriet in reruns…
Thank you so so much for posting this!!!! 💚
Around 2000, give or take. I think it's from VH1 Behind the Music.
I was wild about Rick Nelson. Teen fan. ♥️♥️♥️

The girls on my street would agree Rick was Prince Charming.
I'm lucky have been able to enjoy Ozzie and Harriet.
I still remember watching him sing at the end of the show. I can’t watch the rest of this it just hurts so much even at 67. I loved the song “ I went to a garden party “r I p Ricky

You know it was a true story
I was never a big fan of Ricky Nelson, but the TV series and some of his hits were part of my life. Thus I am grateful for this documentary as it documents part of my own life. Ricky was a gentleman.
Great video, enjoyed it a lot.
His children are REAL CLASS PEOPLE. Rick would have been very proud. I am a big fan of Rick Nelson. What a talented and decent human being!!
I love Rick Nelson and still love his music today ❤.
Remember Him in "Rio Bravo" with Dean Martin&John Wayne!!
Brilliant film..Always great to watch....Can't beat it
I fast forward to see them sing
Well done tribute to that amazing guy
Thank you
Thank you.
He was a phenom talent in every way. His resilience is a great example of heroic endurance.
One of my favorite singers of all time
Fantastic! Great playlist!
Growing up I had such a crush on him. Always watched Ozzie & Harriet.
Nice Tribute to Rick Nelson. He left us far too soon. Rest In Peace Rick, you are sadly missed.
Garden party was Legacy of his life. You can't please everyone you just have to please yourself. Reminds me of something I heard before when you love yourself you're able to love others. And if others don't love you oh, you still have self love. And their opinion doesn't matter then. Rip Ricky.

Nelson's Young World and Orbison's Dream Baby were the first two 45s I purchased. Still have them.
I lived the 1950s into 60s music etc. He was one of the top!
Rick was damn good! With guys like Burton on your side, you get a big boost as well!
I feel so bad that his children had to find out that their Pops death on the radio and they had to deal with everyone saying that he died because of drugs. I don't believe that Rick Nelson was ever involved in that kind of thing. Elvis and Ricky were so good looking.
Ricky used drugs but only recreational purposes.
Ricky often said it on the TV show: "I don't mess around." With so much success, I'd say he surely didn't -- "Mess around".

We've followed James Burton for many years. We always had fun watching for new bands that got James for guitarist. He was the best then and still is the best at 84 years living in his native Louisiana. What a fantastic career he's had.
Thanks for t❤he memories.
Every time I even think of his song, “ Garden Party”, it breaks my heart and yes, I do shed a tear. 😢
I loved watching him perform. Amazing talent and he wasn’t treated right.
I met him once at a concert he did at Knott's Berry Farm. He was very talented and kept creating until the end. Next to Elvis there was Rick. Such a handsome man but he seemed somewhat sad to me. I believe he was not happy with himself. Incidentally, he wasn't conceited either.

I always forget how much I love Ricky. But then I hear his voice and I fall in love all over again.
Born in 1946, I grew up with Ozzie and Harriet, David and Ricky. My whole family watched the show weekly on T.V. and never missed it. Ricky's songs were always played at our school dances. He was so dreamy and cute.
I always loved him and still love his songs.
He seemed like a genuine person, my favourite was Teen Angel but I enjoyed all of his recordings, unite a loss to the music world 💖😞
Rick was talented and good-looking. My dad was a huge fan, and I saw him in concert when I was 4 years old right before he died. I don't remember though, I was too young. Now, as for his ex-wife, she was a witch. She knew when she married him he was a musician and musicians travel. If she couldn't handle it, she should've never married him.
