    I wear the SG12, recommended to me by BTO when I got back into riding with my then 3 year old son (he's an 8 year old speed demon now and championship winning kart racer). Fantastic boots, comfortable and great protection. Saved my weak ankles (too many sprains over the years) when my toe caught on a tree root coming full throttle out of the woods off a berm. Like them so much I bought a second pair from BTO and rotate between them. We ride a lot and the durability has been outstanding.

      @@BTOMotocross Hey Nick,
      I broke my right shin bone (inner side) when my ebike fell on me due to wet offroad. I am still trying to find a motorcross or other type boot, but looking thru all major names, I still can't find a boot that has HARD SHELL on entire inner section (like ski boot).
      That can withstand 200lb bike fall on top of lower leg.
      Any suggestion? Thanks !

    I wear Sidi. They are all good. Wear what fits your foot the best.

      That's really what it comes down to, you're 100% correct ! They are incredibly comfortable and flexible, the fact you can pretty much be rebuilt is an under-rated feature too.

  • @dogger2186
    @dogger2186 5 лет назад +5

    1 problem all the boot manufacturers have is that the height of the boots are now in proportion to the sole size.....meaning that a 13-15 size boot will more than likely fit taller riders.....thus needing to be talled to cover the shin correctly...something solely overlooked
    Not everyone is a MIDGET that rides or races!13-15 should have 2"-3" added to the height!!!

    Crossfire 3 non-SRS for me. Steel toe, thinner sole with better feel.

    Ive owned all three, but sidi’s were 8 years ago, Too flimsy and flexible for me, but my buddies like their newer versions. The Gaerne’s were good in all areas, except safety! I literally destroyed my fibula/ankle when the boot got snagged briefly in a rut and the ankle pivot bolt simply broke off. The boot provided no support and I was out a full year in rehab, never been same since. I still ride but last 3 pairs of boots have been Tech 10s. Study the ankle design and you will choose Tech 10’s 100% of the time. Safest boot out there, its the choice boot of Pro’s too. What’s worse is Gaerne did nothing to try to address the boot failure. I sent pics, etc...still have the boots with almost no wear. Never again, safety gear is #1. Alpinestars all the way. 10 or 7s are also great.

    I have heard that since Sidi moved the factory to some or other European country the quality has dropped and people are breaking the Sidi boots after 3 rides. My Alpine start Tech 10 are amazing and the ankle brace is fantastic for me.

    I had tech 10s a few years ago, I wore them for a day and they killed my ankles. I was able to return them and I got tech 7s. I realized pretty quick the tech 7s didn’t offer anymore protection than work boots. I went to sidi and was amazed with the comfort once they broke in since they were a little tight at first. I’ve had a few hits with the sidi one and I know if I’d have astars on I’d be hurting a lot more if not having a broken foot.

    Im with BTO on the SIDI boots, been wearing them for gosh 15 years now, saved me more times than I can count and the sole replacement system is tops. Good review, glad to see BTO doing these - boots are not cheap and while the rider still has to make their own decisions in the end, this helps guide and provides insight on initial research. *****One ASK I would have is to take this type of review and add how the boots actually fit vs just design and construction (which is critical too). Example, the SIDI has a very narrow toe box vs the Gaerne. ------- also which boot is 'true to size', do they run small, large or spot on? How are they with the 'top brand ' knee braces on enough adjustments and where do the braces 'hit' with the boot on, above the top of the boot, inside the boot etc. #BETHEONE

    • @BTOMotocross
      @BTOMotocross  5 лет назад +2

      Now thats a constructive review ! Really appreciate this ! Yes a few regrets on the fit as well as the weight differences, which I had but just left out. Maybe for the individual vlogs when they are separate we'll get that in there. Foot shape as it all varies from person to person, just like a head shape with helmet fitment, someone's true to size may not be relative. But we'll keep improving for sure, thanks for the support : )

      @@BTOMotocross Just random thoughts from an 'older' mx guy! - again, excellent review! Im in the market for a new pair (and will get them from BTO) my current SIDI are US size 13 (12.5 UK) but I see now that the SIDI SRS-3 only go to 12.5 US per BTO web page. The 13s are PERFECT for me, but I canNOT go smaller as I am running a super thin boot sock to wear them. If they did go down a 1/2 size, I know Im out of look with the SRS/SIDI boot. Do you know if that is the case? Did SIDI drop the 13 US size?

    • @BTOMotocross
      @BTOMotocross  5 лет назад +1

      @@tasok78 I spoke with Sidi, they are not making the 3's in the 13, just stop at 12.5. They are offering the Crossfire 2's in 13, but they are just on backorder for about a month.

      @@BTOMotocross THANK YOU! Maybe I will just go with the TA model then vs the SRS this time around. I just checked my photos and my current pair of SIDIs were given to me at Christmas 2007. Replaced the soles 3 times and hinges twice. Kind of silly for me to go to a different brand given the years of service and protection Im getting from SIDI. Thanks again !!! You spoke about how the Sidi Crossfire's & Gaerne SG-12'S have a wide opening which can be adjusted for even more but there wasn't anything mentioned about the Alpinestars. So my question is do the Alpinestars not have the adjustability like the others?

      dr187mx I had the current models last year. They where absolute shit. Only lasted 3 1/2 months before I had a hole worn through the inner foot area. Anyone who grips the bike with their legs and uses tech 10s has this issue. Gaerne and Sidi both make a far superior product.

      dr187mx not to chime in and be a dick, but realistically how often are you riding and what level are you riding at. The majority of riders who Ik that ride 1-2 times a week all have issues with the durability of the tech 10s. I have heard the fitment is off as well compared to other manufactures. Anyone who's racing and paying for their own stuff almost always seems to be going with the Italian boots.
