I only have about 20 hours on my SG-22's, but I fell in love with them the moment I tried them on. I have been using the SG-12's which I've always liked, but these felt broken in from moment one. I have a seriously large ankle from a previous injury and a large bunion on my right foot, and these don't bother them at all. If you're on the fence because of the price, ask yourself how much not breaking your foot/ankle is worth to you. Gaerne boots have the best protection out there, period!
Always like the fact that you're honest in your reviews Morgan. You really don't hold anything back. I like those boots but I perfer my Tech 7 dry star enduro boots.
🎶 These boots aren’t made for walkin’ 🎶 Avid watcher/follower here in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. I’m running Gaerne Fastback enduro boots. Love’m. Previously had SG1’s. Not a typo, SG1 boots. I got them used and I had them 12 years. I’ll never buy another brand of off-road boots. Thanks for all your honest opinions and product reviews, and how to’s.
My Gaerne Fastback are totally thrashed after one year and about 100h of riding. Both ankle supports bolts rusted out and the seams came undone. Broken buckles and other smaller issues
Sg22 vs sg12. Very similar can go back and forth without noticing. Buckles seem to come undone more on the 22 but maybe haven't set them completely already. If you can get a good deal on the 12s probably would be my choice
Gret review Morgan. I have wide feet so i'll go for a pair of 22's. On thing that scares me is ripping the sole off. Most of us in Thailand have this issue with the rocky hard enduro we ride. part of the problem is we seem to get SG12's manufactured 4 or 5 years ago and suspect the sole glue has lost its grip. (just our guess).
It’s funny my sg 10s seemed to narrow and they seemed to narrow in ankle so I had to size up . I tried sidi x3 enduro , and have more room in the toe box than the sg12. The protection on the x3 enduro is nothing like the sg12 but the fit and comfort is great and they keep my feet dry. Looking forward to trying some of these out.
I prefer the Gaerne boot over the Sidi but the Sidi just fit my foot better. Getting crossfires on is way more of a pain. I'm always fiddling with something.
I've convinced myself these are cheaper than a broken bone in my foot/ankle so hopefully they cover the cost of themselves. I was leaning towards the Fastbacks but after going down that rabbit hole I'm convinced to 'go big' on my boots.
I’m sitting here in the south of Western Australia waiting on a delivery of my new SG22’s. The Postie didn’t bring them today as I was hoping. Maybe tomorrow before the weekend. Got a big couple of days of riding coming up over the weekend. Uuuugh!! It’s like waiting for Santa Claus!! 😁
Concerning your knee,Im 76 have a bad left knee and it may be the bike,Im riding a 23 Husky 300Tx,before a 21/20 and 19 Husky 300 ,and with new bike my knee doesnt give me as much trouble, but I also wear SG22 also?
Are they worth it? Boots are as important as helmets, knee braces, protective gear. Boots are your connection to the bike. It probably helps your knee problem because it keeps you gripping the bike with ease.
Yes! They are worth it if it fits and comfortable! It's garbage to me because it hurts my ankles! 😁 I am more comfortable in Sidi and Forma Predator 2. Oh yeah, Gaerne SG22 has the best buckles.
Does the SG-22 have more ankle room than the SG-12? I love my SG-10s. I've had multiple pairs over the past 15ish years. I bought a pair of SG-12 but they squeezed my ankle too much so I sold them. The squeezing caused bruising and sore spots on the sides of my ankles. I tried to like them. I wanted to make the work, I wore them on multiple rides to break them in. I even tried stretching them out by stuffing a softball in the the offending area to stretch it during storage but it didn't help.
Thanks for this great review, you made me think about buying them. I really love my tech 7’s but they have zero ankle support honestly. Big impacts do not feel good.
@@hadleybennett68758 months? Stop buying Chinese Thors bro. Gaerne are known to last 3-4 seasons for pro level riders. A half decade for a literal everyday back country guy. And probably close to a decade for a casual rider.
@@jacobmcvay123 lmao I’m embarrassed for you. You clearly don’t ride much at all. I ride 3-4 times per week minimum in tech 10’s and go through about 4 sets per year. If your trail riding once a month like you are then yes, you could definitely get years of use out of your boots. Some of us actually ride.

I’m like you ,I wanted to try the Sidi boots myself but after reading several reviews I was just concerned that only a thin foot will fit in a Sidi foot . I was a Alpinestars ( and I was needing some new boots) and I actually sponsored by Ganrne boots and I also out that Ganrne are the only boots still made in Italy.🤟🏼🤟🏼🤟🏼
I tried the G boot but was disappointed in the ankle articulation. Also way to hot on my feet. Other than that there great. I’m sticking with Sidi crossfires.
I bought sg10s but stopping riding about 6-7 years ago.. got riding the other day, the soles are dry rotted even tho the boots look new. The sole falls apart from every kick start
Same here, I love my my 10s for comfort but isn’t good value for money, I have a hole on the outside on the right boot and hole near the seam higher up on the left boot and both bottoms worn right through in 2 years of occasional weekend riding

Why dont they make the s22 with any KTM orange tho?
Good question
They do have them in orange but it seemed like a lighter orange compared to the ktm orange color
They are pricey but very good boot 👍

Do you know if they make a womens version or know any women who wear them? Womens calves (my calves) do not tend to fit in most men's boots.
