brake is important! i came from technical setup back in philippines and we use tz chassis with 13mm roller on front , 19mm on 25mm screw on side stay. brake are from rear sliding damper with brakes. (1996-97). then i came back as a speed tech racer in dubai in 2014 and it was totally different on brake technology.

Here in Indonesia we have several style of build.
In East Java the prevalent build is using no brakes at all to maximise speed.
in East Java Side Damper Style to control the speed instead of using brake they use a longer tail in hope of the back tail would scrape the track and the result is more controlled jumps.
Also beside the longer tail, to reduce the speed they're focusing on the battery voltage and the length of spacer used, so that the underguard would scrape the track less or more.
This style is most effective on SFM and Super II chassis for some reason. So now when Tamiya re-issue the 95239 Carbon chassis there's almost a frenzy for Mini 4WD fans to get this, since it's pretty much a META chassis here.

My original FM-A open class had a long tail and did not need brakes. I always wondered why it performed so well without brakes! However, I believe that no brakes also means no protection on the carbon plates so there's more of a chance of cracks in the chassis where the plates are attached to the chassis. I'm only beginning to experiment with SFM. It seems pretty cool :)
