EXCELLENT FILMING, FANTASTIC FILM. I TRAVELLED OVER THIS BEUTIFULL BUT REMOTE COASTAL RAILWAY ROUTE BY A FIRST GENERATION D M U, CIRCA 55 YEARS AGO JUST FTER LEAVING SCHOOL, PETER .LONDON.
HI ANTMAN, I THOUGHT FROM YOUR GREAT ENERGY AND ENTHUSIASM THAT YOU WERE BORN WELL BEYOND THE TIME THAT THE OLD DMUS DEPARTED FROM THE UK RAIL SYSTEM. BUT YOU MUST HAVE BEEN BORN CIRCA 10 TO 15 YEARS BEFORE TO HAVE WITNESSED THE FIRST GENERATION D M U'S !!. ALL THE BEST FROM PETER, < GRAHAM INTERNET NAME>, UPPER CLAPTON, NORTH EAST LONDON.
We had to flog the arse off these locos just to keep to time , but that was a struggle with all the stops from Carlisle to Preston . Then the dbso,s appeared and more trouble followed . Nicely filmed is it filmed on a standard camera or a camcorder type with a decent zoom on it . Atb KM driver
Thanks for your comment Kingmoor driver, myself they were great days, hope you feel the same driving them proper locos. Now its units working that line I don't visit that great part of the country anymore unless I'm on a railtour. I always use Panasonic camcorders when filming. Thank for watching.
Great video Mike. Still awaiting my chance on the Greater Anglia set - delayed again.... Might have to do this if they're still running end of next week when I'm in the region...
cmeonthemove Yes Chris you must I had a really good day, but I see the first service from Barrow was a unit today. thanks for watching this long video. Mike.
Thank you for posting this, and for your excellent camera-work. Please excuse my ignorance, but why did it need two such powerful beasts to pull only four carriages?
@@antman09ful1 Well it's off Barrow in Furness and has a bridge to & from the main line so it would see Direct Rail Services trains. In the Railway Series books the Class 28 CoBo diesels worked to / from Sodor in the 1960s; would be top & tail 37s to get up Gordon's Hill!
Well done for taking the time to do this for our enjoyment. Cheers
Thank you Ernie for watching this old video from a few years ago.

Peter you are right with my age group, but I only got interest in trains in 1974.

Nice 37 thrash
Oh they were great times.
Thank you for posting this, and for your excellent camera-work.
Please excuse my ignorance, but why did it need two such powerful beasts to pull only four carriages?
So when the train reaches the end of the journey they don’t have to loose time running the engine round.
Thank you for your interest in this video.
Great shots, where did you stay at?
What livery was on coach at 5.04 and 17.01?
Will check for you, and thanks for watching.
How the Island of Sodor would look in real life...
