    As an American, I too am very sad to hear that the ol' 37s are being replaced. True icons of British railroading for sure. Let's hope the 37s have a slightly brighter future than just being replaced.

      37's seem to get replaced every 5 years or so, they'll be back in one form or another, no need to worry about that!

    During the early eighties one of my workmates came to work beaming, that he stopped to admire one of these at the station one night. Where the driver invited him in to the cab to demonstrate the dials and controls, and their purpose. Before the signal to leave the station. Iconic trains they are indeed. I love the way when the train goes out of sight you still keep the camera rolling, where others would simply cut that scene out. When one of your shots shows the train fade into the haze is pretty special. Then the night shot. Nicely thought though.

    DRS are very good at finding work for their stock. What price putting together two of the Cumbrian sets with the 37s in the middle as a Tractor Railtour unit? Easy reversal, motive power backup - one 37 could easily drag the other and eight coaches out of trouble. Iconic Mk2s (I assume the entire consists are Mk 2, not just the driving trailers). Work up an exotic livery based on DRSs house colours and away you go...Tractor fan heaven.

    • @peteratkinson922
      @peteratkinson922 Год назад

      The engine is at optimum power due the the method of power delivery to the track instead of having to go through fixed gear ratios where it has to reach peak power by a comparatively gradual increase in revs. I am no expert in these locos.

      And what I mean by there is there kick out tons of pollution they are from the 60's as reminiscent as they are look at every other rich country and its trains LOOK AT OURS shocking to say the least we really fall far behind every rich nation when it comes to trains etc even today
      RIP off and cheap looking
      By the time HS2 comes on track it will be out dated
      We are backward on some matters which I believe is more political than the skill of our engineers
      It's a joke where our sleek trains that dont cost the earth whilst killing it off with tons of pollution
