Hi, I bought 2 of these and both failed to bind. I am in the UK and the protocol you use is different, this had me scratching my head and I updated the firmware (radiomasterrc.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/64000257762-r168-receiver-firmware-update-procedures) and it still failed after the update. The fix (EVENTUALLY) is that my TX16s uses FrSky LBT(EU) protocol, NOT the D16! Once I found this out, from Radiomaster. One of my receivers worked, the receiver I had firmware "upgraded", I had to install V1, not V2! Then that then worked no problem. Keep up the good work :)
In the mode options, I can only choose from FrSkyRX, FrSky X, FrSkyX2, FrSky L. The option "FrSky" is not there. And I can not bind to my receiver R168. Do you have an idea what the problem could be?
@@RCVideoReviews I'm in Europe so I had to put it to FrSky X and "LBT" instead of D16. I'm a total noob and your videos have helped me a lot. Thank you!
Thank You SOOOOOOOOO MUCH for this Video. I was just about to give up ever having a radio system I could trust, or even use. I tried Taranis X9D PLUS SE, TWICE, and both were absolute GARBAGE!! They NEVER Worked at all, even with FrSky receivers. Then I tried RadioLink which worked okay, and Then------ RadioMaster. I have had fits trying to bind the R168 Receivers, but now---------- IT WORKS BEAUTIFULLY !!! THANK YOU , THANK YOU, THANK YOU !!! Can you tell me where I can buy that module you are using to set up , and test your radios??
@@RCVideoReviews : Thank You for your response. I checked this one out, and it lead me to another one with a few extra accessories. Your video did help me.
Thanks for the vid John, that was gonna be my next Rx purchase. Definitely interested in seeing how it performs on the plane, I am sure it will be good. I do have a question, as usual. The power from the flight pack comes from where, the positive on the balance lead or a wire soldered into the main power from the ESC connector?
You can get the power lead from any point on the positive wire between the battery and the + input of the ESC. Don't take anything coming from the ESC after the main positive voltage input.
It might be a dumb question, but can you also use a battery capacity checker and connect it to the battery while the rc plane is powered on? And then fine tune the battery voltage like you did in your video?
Have you noticed in the upper case of the receiver that thevoltage indicated is 4.5-6 volts? But in the instructions to bind it, the range is 4.5-8-4 volts, and that is why I bought it¡¡¡¡
If I want to run say a 6s battery. Could I just build a voltage divider with a couple of resisters and bring the voltage down to a workable voltage. I'm thinking a couple of 100K resisters so the drain is negligible and pick off the voltage from the center.
Yup. If you can do the math to get it low, and then on the radio multiply it back up, you sure can do that. I mentioned it in a recent Livestream. Just calibrate your telemetry to the actual voltage and you should be fine.
I’m following your directions, but my r168 receiver isn’t going into bind mode when I hold down the bind button and plug the battery in. Does the module status on the tx16s matter? How do I change that line?
The status of the Tx should not matter. Do you feel the detent on the switch when you press the case button down? Do you have any others with which you can test?
@@RCVideoReviews I feel the detent, but the leds don’t stay lit. They go out faster when the rx has recent power plugged in. The leds don’t change behavior if the button is pressed. The 40a esc gets very hot, 155F. Could the esc be broken?
Hi .. i just purchased this radio but i don't no if any 18650 batteries can work? I have 2x Panasonic ncr18650bd.. are they ok ? Cuz i got confused with 3.6v and 3.7v thing cuz all batteries rated as 3.6v So is Panasonic ncr18650bd good for it ?
Yes. You need sbus servos and an external power source. Most use sbus with a flight controller or stabilizer of some kind which take standard servos and drive them with 5v+ DC
I almost bought a couple of these when they came out until I realized they are only good for up to 18v which does me no good for 6s lipos. Rm dropped the ball on this one by basically excluding the entire heli community.
I was surprised to see the 18v cutoff. Give them time and feedback. They're just getting into the Rx game and I'm sure there will be more to come. They seem willing to listen to feedback.
@@RCVideoReviews put a simple 2 resistor voltage divider between the battery positive and the receiver to drop the voltage below 18v then recalibrate the receiver, a simple 10c fix for packs over 18 volts.
Yeah, I've been playing with voltage dividers for years with FrSky. That's a good tip and will work if you want to do it Freddie. I Lynn put a diagram on Discord for it too.
I have one of these and the range and performance are very good. Much better than my previous DSMX clone receivers.
Good to know. Appreciate the info.

Thanks, you just saved me. I think I tried everything but that one ;) binded only with LBT EU protocol. 👍
Cheers, i just had the same problem, and you fixed it.
For the price it's incredible, I'm also interested in the other Rx Radiomaster are selling. Thanks for the video.
I've got a couple of other receivers I'll be covering. The little R161 sbus receiver looks promising.

Yes, anywhere on the positive wire between the battery and esc.

Sure, as long as you trust the voltage source. The whole idea is to ensure the sensor shows what the battery has.

Do you do a fine tune as well on this rx? Or should you on all recievers? Great stuff Thank you.
Unknown. I'll check with RM and see what they say.
RM got back to me. Frequency tuning is recommended.

If you have a FC that uses analog rssi, you can use that wire to feed it to the FC.
