I just set this up last night, battery alarm and all! Didn't know about the frequency tuning, so thanks for that! Glad to have all this info in one place. Thanks guys!
Also! You mentioned the users manual that comes with it. I found that the user manual on Radiomaster's website actually has an additional page in it that shows how to connect the vbat line. Some people might find that helpful (though you do completely cover it in this vid!). www.radiomasterrc.com/downloads

Setting up the battery voltage widget makes sense, but what is the purpose of the little battery symbol shown already in top right of the screen as this seems to be there regardless
I was looking for a receiver to use my TX16S Radio with an electric RC car. This should work correct ? will have just a steering servo and the motor ESC. The voltage telemetry is great since the ESC I will be using is calibrated for Nimh voltages and not Lipo voltages, so to have the radio sound the alarm when I reach the Lipo's critical voltage will be the way to go.
This old brain is trying to get my quad "Inductrux" into the 16s without any luck. I found a printout of the quad Horizon Hobby BLH8516 FPV pro manual. Every time a set it up something does not work. Each time is something else.... How do you see it being done? Thanks for any help. Continued success.I have it bound, armed, 1 flight mode. It still way far from where it should when properly setup in the radio. It flys, some control, no hover or change in flight modes. Looking forward to hearing from you and your instruction.
I plan on Buying the TX16S either the regular Hall gimbals or the Max. You're telling me this all has a Gyro on the receiver with RT Voltage Reading? What else would you recommend, by the way?
great guys!!.clear and understandable video.I am in the middle of switching everything over to radiomaster.Thank you for the video and please keep making them!..
Hello, I bought like 6 R168s and 2 are bad. I calibrated them like you said and my plae lost signal mid-air and just crashed. Can I send them for replacement?
Isn't it better and easier to use balance lipo voltage alarm/checker?? If doesn't weight much and you can stick it inside the fuselage of an aircraft on a velcro or tape. Also it gives you an alarm if you loose your plane and they to find it as it goes off with loud alarm once battery is low on power.
Very good video. I connected an R168 with the cable to measure battery voltage with telemetry, but I noticed that the Rx gets warm during use, is it normal? Regards
It might have been easier to follow if only one of you did the talking and following a script. My old Hitec Aurora 9 system gives motor battery in-flight voltage telemetry by using a two wire connection to the receiver connected to the motor battery. Optima receivers run on up to 27 volts.
hi and thank you for a great video, in fact I am using this device and I have the T16S as well. 2 models selected and first one works perfectly , the second one with this R168 device is making me a bit crazy on CHannel 3 (second plane has a different receiver) what I face is actually on the Port 3 channel mounted with the throttle (glow) and I cant use the trim down from center, only upper position works, all other servos works ok (same servos). i wonder if you could give me a hand here. thanks in advance
Really nice comprehensive video on the RxBT/ Vbat setup.. etc.. thanks... Say I have been looking for a way to get the Last known location / GPS coordinates discovered in this telemetry too.. I’m using the SBUS out of a Zohd Kopilot or Eachine Razor’s Safe FC and it’s not in the R161 /R168 telemetry data.. is there a GPS module I can put in-line with this SBUS link to add it into my radios Discovered sensor list?
Great video. Question, can you just tap off the balance port for vbat? Maybe just tap into one cell (second wire in the plug) and set the warning at 3.5v? Would that work instead of tapping off the battery plug?
That could work, but you need to make sure you are not getting the input of an individual cell. And that would be the more obscure way to make the connection.
@@graysonhobby I’ll try it that way and also tapping off the red wire or full pack voltage and see what I get. Should get my Rx order from y’all in a couple days. Thanks for the great how to vids!
Thank you for the videos! First thing I did when I received my TX16S MAX yesterday, was try to bind it to my E-Flite UMX Turbo Timber. Awesome video! That was exactly what I was looking to have on my plane. I want to be able to check the battery level. Can you please recomend a receiver with a stabilizer? I'm flying Horizon Hobby planes and I'm used to the SAFE and AS3X they use. I bought a FMS 800mm Corsair and I need a receiver with stabilization and telemetry for the battery level. I have a Radiomaster TX16S. Thank you so much!
Try FrSky S6R (6Ch) or S8R (8Ch) receivers with built in stabilisation together with the FrSky Lipo voltage sensor MLVSS, which is going to give you Flight Battery Voltage telemetry for up to 6 cell battery and you can select to display on the telemetry screen of TX16S either the total voltage of the battery or the voltage of the lowest cell (most practical and less confusing when you fly interchangeably models with 2S, 3S, 4S etc).

Super video and very clear thanks. Q. If you were adding say the ZOHD stabiliser which normally has Channel 5 designated for the 3 position switch for Stab, Man and RTH, would you be piggy backing the same JR plug to top positive into the receiver or can you use another of the 8 channels for VBAT?
Do you do the frequency tuning only with the RadioMaster R168 ? because I have the Tx16s and bound it to multiple jets that have DSMX receivers in them and some have Frsky receivers in them and never heard or done this step before. Never lost signal in my jets.

I see it’s been a month since you hoped for a reply, so I’ll take a stab at it.. it’s not possible to rate how far a Vtx will transmit directly since there are so many other factors determining this ( like your goggles Rx antennas postyion and gain, the Vtx tx antenna type and it’s gain, the RF noise around , and the phase of the moon.. but typically a 25mW Vtx can send a decent fly able signal out within a 300 foot radius good enough for a lot of LOS flying and 200 mW is good out to about a km. Hope it helps..
