- Radiomaster TX16s Setup - How to setup your new TX16s from rcvideoreviews.com is a COMPLETE setup guide for the Radiomaster TX16s. In this video, I review system options of the radio including demonstrations of what the options do. I cover usage of the LUA tools menu, managing the tools displayed on that menu, SD Card navigation, hardware calibration, and much more.
If you want a detailed review of the system setup options of this radio, you've found the right video.
Here is the @UAV Tech video I referenced describing the ADC option in detail:

This is the most thorough setup tutorial I've ever seen, thanks so much again, especially for an old newbie like i am, my best regards from Alan in the UK 😊😊👍👍
Thanks for taking the time to comment. I’m glad you found it helpful.
Best,
J
@@RCVideoReviews can u charge the controller with the usb cable provided . or what charge cable do i need to charge through the controller . thanks buddy . love your vids
@@r.ccustomtruckingsydneyaus4632 You can charge the radio with the included USB-C. I've charged it from just about any USB charger I have laying around including Apple, Desktop, and a Laptop USB-C AC power supply. They all work.
Looks like I'm following in your footsteps Alan 👍
Very clearly produced. Clear voice, good pace and clear videography. Definitely subbed as I received my TX16X Blue Max today..
Welcome to the channel. Thanks for the kind comment.
Excellent beginners setup tutorial John. I’m a total newbie with this radio and OpenTX, but your teaching style work well for me.
Thanks for taking the time to share your experience with this radio and software! Jim
You're welcome. This isn't exactly exhilarating content but I know if I read something and say, "I wonder what that means" I can't be the only one.
Thanks for the comment,

This entire series is fantastic! Clear, organized information and excellent video work. Videos are logically broken down for easier consumption. For me as an old Heathkit/Futaba/HiTec/Spektrum guy I got into drones and this radio is so perfect! Lots to learn but with these videos, I am learning fast - I will be putting all of my planes (and drones) on this platform thanks to the lessons learned here. Thank you for this great work!!
Wow, thanks! Glad you've found the material useful. Thank you.
I'm already a subscriber to the channel but still I want to say it again: you're probably the most beginner-friendly rc guy on RUclips. Great video! I can always learn something by watching your reviews/tutorials. Thank you👍
Glad to hear it. Thanks for taking the time to write.
I just bought one of these radio and am a total noob so I was thinking I maybe bit off more then I could chew but these videos have basically changed that. Thank you so much !!
Very awesome to hear that. I'm glad they're helping you rein the radio in. It can be a little much at first, but once the light starts to go on, you'll find out you can do just about anything.
Thanks for watching and the nice comment.

Fantastic series of tutorials! Thank you for doing them.
You're very welcome!
Thank you! I just got a TX16s MAX and I found this tutorial very useful. Loved the bloopers at the end as well ;). You got a new subscriber!
Thanks for the sub and welcome to the channel.
Just bought mine and it arrived today so I'll be having a good look through your videos to learn everything :)
Have fun. It’s a solid radio.

I was considering buying this and after watching this video I'm definitely getting this I love how user friendly and awesome this radio is thank you sir
You're welcome. Enjoy.
A big thanks for this great video. it helped me so much. and all the other video you made. i just got my TX16S and i was a little lost. i am new in the hobby and i needed your videos
Glad I could help!
Hey Man, where were you when I first struggled to learn OpenTX on my Horus a couple of years ago?! Your voice and detailed, thorough and easy-to-understand explanation reminds me of the late great JC of Project Blue Falcon. He was the best. Please keep doing what you're doing because it's needed.
I actually did a number of OpenTx videos a couple of years ago but they never got any traction. This second round took though, so I built a good sized library and have move on the way. Appreciate the comment and welcome to the channel.
Most awesome rundown on the setup features of this great radio!! Thank you very much as I just ordered one today. I subbed as well. 👍👍😊

Have fun with your TX16s, it's a really good radio.
Thank you so much for this! This is like a full-on course/class on this. As a complete noob, I'm super intimidated by this hobby but really want to get in. I have no idea what I'm doing and no previous experience in anything even remotely (no pun intended) related to anything radio or FPV related. I'm following along very intently trying to keep up even though I don't understand any of the numbers, settings, frequencies, charts, words, terms, or what any of the jargon means but I'm super excited to do this and you're making it accessible for me by even having this! Even though I'm still early and confused I have no idea how anyone would navigate this without a video like this. Since I am hesitantly investing the limited money I have into this hobby I very much appreciate you putting this up!
You're very welcome. I have a pretty large library of OpenTx material, so just take your time and have fun with it. Don't be afraid to play with different settings on the radio. You can't hurt anything until you actually start to fly.
@@RCVideoReviews Awesome, I just subscribed and liked! Been watching videos and messing with it since I got it. Right now I've been stuck trying to find out why when calibrating the elevator won't go down under center when I bring the right stick down and it snaps to the top when I push it up. The ele only moves invertedly when I move the left throttle stick up and down and it never goes down past the center when I pull the right stick down. When the throttle is down at idle and right stick at the center the channels read like this:
02 Ele 46%
03 -100%
and if I pull the left stick down it stays at 46% and when the throttle is at 0% the elevator stays at 0% and never goes under, it only snaps up to 66-100%
or is none of this even a problem and that is exactly how it's supposed to work?
@@Obi1kanObi Are you sure you have mode 2 set on the bottom of the system page?

I have followed and subscribed to the channel, to learn how to use the Radiomaster TX16S and it is effectively the most
enlightening that I found.
Congratulations to the channel and keep it up.
I bought a radio like this, although I haven't received it yet (Black friday), but one question I wanted to clarify is the following:
On Radio Setup the Default channel order that is in AETR, if you change to any other such as TAER, everything will be fine
or there will be a problem, as it says in the manual : "Because the channel input order of the built-in multi-protocol transmitting
module of the RadioMaster TX16S remote control is AETR, in the Default channel
order option, be sure to select the AETR order '"
Therefore, I don't see the interest in having more options besides the ATER option if there may be any problems in the future
Thank you and my best regards from Portugal.

thank you so much for demonstrating and explaining. At least I'm able to configure my Jumper T18 which is very similar.
You're welcome. All of the OpenTx videos I have using the TX16s as the demo unit will also apply to the Jumper T18. From a software standpoint, these two radios are identical.
I used to think my DX8 was quite advanced, now I see this, it seems like it's from back in the stone-ages!
OpenTx is a very capable platform. I still learn new things on a regular basis.

Thanks again; why I messed my controller up shorted the main board when charging some how and ordered and replaced it. Then I went to set everything up and the sdcard was corrupted. Ok now all is good so I just started swallowed my pride and started over again including backing up all my data on this TX16s. Always leaning something. Thanks again.

yes very clear thanks.is there a video to set up aux switches in betaflight?
Thanks for the clear Tutorial. Is it possible to give another tutorial on how to setup two Radiomater TX16s to bin with one Receiver? Thank you again
I discuss it in this video briefly: ruclips.net/video/QaEbn9R6QGc/видео.html
As far as I know, there is only one way to do it:
1) Get the source code for the multi protocol module.
2) Edit the source code and key in your own global unique identifier.
3) Compile that source code and flash both radios with it.
Subbed and thumbed thanks

Hello, thanks for the detailed review.
Do you thing dji controller (V1) is safer in term of flyaway as connection not pids.
For example, if the throttle not 0% does the quad start?
As a general question, is Crossfire safe as dji fpv RC? Thanks man
Absolute enriching! Thanks for the tutorial. It helped me loads. I’m trying set up my governor in the TX16S, how do I assign a GOV channel? I’m using Microbeast Plus and CH 8 is for GOV. Appreciate your guidance.
I haven't used a microbeast so I don't know exactly how to help. What I can say is the mixer is what maps the channel numbers to the receiver. So if you need something on channel 8 you put the device on channel 8 in the mixer.
Damn brotha, another sweet cini🤪
What's a cini?
@@RCVideoReviews sorry John, I replied to this video by accident. It was supposed to be to Drone Camps about a new CiniWhoop quad.😂
That play delay feature is a basic SW debounce on an input. It's very common to implement on any input of a processor, especially mechanical switches as these litterally bounce a couple of times upon switching. To us humans it's indetectible, but these electronics pick them up very easily, as they can scan them a couple of hundred thousand times a second, or even millions of times a second.
Loved this video for future reference, but I'm stuck after working with Velocidrone and RadioMaster TX16S support staff trying to get them talking to each other and just have the transmitter act as a joystick controller for the Velocidrone SIM. We have failed after a week of trying this and that and the time it takes for them to respond to me and me to them is killing us as far as efficiency. Other words, we wasting a ton of time on a simple thing. I felt like someone else had to have experienced this same issue so I've found RUclips to be a valuable resource at times. I thought I nail it when I saw your video. But it never discussed using the transmitter as a joystick other than how to put it in Joystick Mode. We can of knew that one. I was wondering if you could make or direct me to a video you've already made on just the basics of how to unbox it, how to connect it to your Windows 10 or higher PC and including maybe one of the most popular simulators made by Velocidrone out there that most racing pilots are using to practice and get started with. I was told I may need 100 hours of SIM time before I should go buy a real drone. True or Not? Don't know. But I just can't seemed to get started. I feel like we all are missing something very simple and just have not figured out what yet.... Please help or send me to someone who can? And I am willing to pay for consultation.....up to a point... LOL
Nice job! I'm a 107 certified Drone pilot and just received my new Eachine's version of the TX16S. Wow, it's very confusing to me coming from a Jumper T8SG. The problem I'm having is transferring the models from the old Jumper T8SG as it's not indicated on the open TX companion 2.3....
I'm not familiar with that radio. Does it use OpenTx? Have you tried just flashing EdgeTX? Make sure you back up your data first.
Hi, Thank you!. Your videos about Radiomaster TX16S were very important to me since I got mine last week. I am doing my first steps on FPV and naturally I have a lot of questions. I could setup and fly a Tinyhawk Freestyle 2 last night and my first impression is the quad lighting speed reaction of my Radiomaster sticks over all throttle. I was flying indoor hit ceilings walls but I think I could easily lost the drone if I was outside. Is there any way to make the sticks or the quad less responsive? to get more controllable maneuvers? Thank you again!
Hello there! Just add some expo to your throttle input. This video will show you how to add expo. You do not have to use the slider though, you can just hard code a value like 30 or 40.
Finally got subscribed, sorry it took so long. I think I have viewed most of your videos and they have helped tremendously. I am trying to get my neighbors radio to show the throttle icon on the input page but it will not do it, it only shows 3 dashes in place of the icon. Cant figure it out, tried to find that in you videos but no go. Any help would be appreciated. Keep up the good work.
What happens if you create a new model and exit out of the wizard? Do you still see an issue?
I have created 3 models I believe and it is always like that. Not sure what he did when he got the radio to cause this. I even updated the firmware and SD card but no luck. I have sent a question to Radiomaster to see what they say but not sure how responsive they are. I do appreciate your quick response, Thanks
This old brain is trying to get my quad "Inductrux" into the 16s without any luck. I found a printout of the quad Horizon Hobby BLH8516 FPV pro manual. Every time a set it up something does not work. Each time is something else.... How do you see it being done? Thanks for any help. Continued success.I have it bound, armed, 1 flight mode. It still way far from where it should when properly setup in the radio. It flys, some control, no hover or change in flight modes. Looking forward to hearing from you and your instruction.
So nice walkthrough, but I am brand new to flying… have had old school rc cars of every type! How did you get crossfire configure on there? Ordered the Cinnabot 3.0 with crossfire and have the radio master crossfire module in route… trying to get things dialed in so I can be ready to fly, but I’m unsure where to start
Thanks for your excellent video. I have a problem in that failsafe mode is missing from the set up screen on my Radiomaster tx16s. I would be most grateful for your advice. Best Regards Bob
What receiver are you using?
@@RCVideoReviews Thanks for your quick reply. I have only used assan & radiomasterR86C receivers. The R86C is being used with aZOHD controller. I wiil be using Hitec optima receivers in the future. Best regards Bob
I have just bought this tx and I love it although it will take me time to learn all these terms.
It is assumed that I know what Haptic, ttl , rssi and so on means!
I feel quite stupid as I just dont know.
I got 80% of what you said and it was a very informative video and a biv thanks.
Question...is there a website or link you can give me that explains all these terms please?
Nice video, newbie old timer to rc, i find it overwhelming when it comes to open TX but hopefully it will sink in the brain bucket!! After watching you're other video's came across this one, I am a RTF guy but i want to learn on open TX and get a radio master radio so i can start getting better rc planes, not many choices for RTF planes! Do you have a video showing how to program and bind a plane from start to finish? Thank you very much, Semper Fi!
The Radiomaster TX16s comes with a multi-protocol module which lets you bind with all kinds of different receivers. I do not have a video showing how to bind with every receiver out there, but I have done a number of videos showing how to bind with some compatible receivers.

Great video as always. I am using 18650 batteries. What would be the value for Low Battery Alarm setting ?
Read this:

6.2v for 2x cells should be ok.
Hi, I followed your videos to setup my Tinyhawk Freestyle 2 with my Radiomaster TX16S and they working really fine, Thank you very much!. My question now is that I got a Nazgul5 V2 and should I make another model on the transmitter or I can use the same Tinyhawk model configuration? Can I fly the Nazgul5 V2 with the Tinyhawk model?
You'll have to contend with the receiver bind if you're using receiver numbers. If you're not using receiver numbers, you probably can use the same radio model to fly both. I would personally just the Tinyhawk configuration to "duplicate" and setup the Nazgul5 with its own settings.
That said, there is no technical reason a single Betaflight/iNav setup won't work for multiple craft of the same type.
I have a sail plane with spoilers. I am able to operate the spoilers by a 3-position switch. My rudder and elevators are operated
on my right hand stick. I'd like to operate the spoilers for yaw control on my left hand stick. My RX is set up with rudder in ch 1,
Elev. in ch 2, ESC in ch 3, left spoiler in ch 5, and right spoiler in ch 6. Thank you
You can use inputs to map any physical control you have to a label. From there, the label can be attached to any channel in the mixer. You should check out some of the videos I've done on Inputs and Mixes.
I have watched a lot of your videos on the radio master tx16s. Have you ever done a video on setting up talerons? I am trying to set up a freewing 90mm f22 with tailerons. There is guy on you tube that has done this with a spectrum ix20 transmitter and I am trying to emulate his radio with my radio master tx16s.

The touch screen? Hmmm ive had to use mine on the nirvana and what a pain in the arse! Thank god we will have the choice off touch and buttons with radio master, the nirvana really needed that.
The Edge team is aware of the NV14 issues and they're working on making it better, but I did agree. I tried touch on the NV14 and it was a challenge.
Hello, thanks the video i setup my radio as i watched the video. I am new to edgetx and just got a new RMTx16x Mkii with 2.7.1. I need to update the firmware so I will have options for R9M but i'm not sure where/how to do that. I opened Edgetx 2.7companion and setup my radio profiles and then in settings i 'checked' flexr9m and lua. then went to file>download but the download was greyed out (not active). Could you point me in the correct direction?
Just left Spectrum for a TX16s Max and your videos have been very helpful. Is it possible to have the radio call out the model altitude value periodically during flight (this is not plane, not quad). Thanks!!
If you can get the telemetry data into the radio, you can generally have the radio call it out. You'll need a sensor capable of giving you altitude via telemetry though.
@@RCVideoReviews my receiver (AR637T) has it built in. I have a widget on one of the pages showing altitude. Just not sure how to get the Tx16s to do the call out.
What battery are you using ? What should i take for the battery range if i use 2 battery 3,7v ?
Thanks
Hi, great videos !, can you please help/refer me how to bind the tx16s to frsky rx8r pro reciver ?
What's the problem? It should work in FrSky D16 or FrSkyX D16 depending on your firmware in the Rx.
FRSKYX - 15
Models: FrSky v1.xxx receivers X4R, X6R and X8R. Protocol also known as D16 v1 FCC/LBT.
FRSKYX2 - 64
Same as FrskyX but for D16 v2.1.0 FCC/LBT.
Is the transmitting power higher/lower when you change the country code like DJI??
Great video, thanks for sharing..
That I do not know.
what is enalbe max throw under internal rf mean? if i switch it on, throttle runs even though kill switch enabled? also is the RF protocol x2f? how do you exit range test?
Thanks for your great content! I am revisiting RC after many years as technology seems to have reached another level! One thing I wonder about is: Why to people tear out their batteries from the plane and check the voltage from their smart planes when this info is already available in the telemetry?
Not all planes have flight pack telemetry--most don't. Don't confuse flight pack voltage with voltage fed to the Rx which is usually available via A2 or A1. That is a reduced value--usually 5v from the BEC, but it is not an indicator of flight pack voltage.
@@RCVideoReviews Aha, well I just managed to get the smart telemetry from my Horizon Timber plane (by using DSMX instead of the DSM protocol) into my EdgeTX radio and see the individual cell voltages are there.
Perfect. You can do a lot when you know flight pack voltage. You should check this out: ruclips.net/video/Q5s7zB0NDCQ/видео.html
I uses this whenever my setup gives me flight pack voltage.
How about set up on a 3 channel fixed wing. To ensure we get rudder on right stick in mode 2 using wizard.
Simply assign the aileron input to the rudder servo channel in the mixer. Done.
Great video thanks. I have a QQ 300 Extra plane. It has an Aura 8 receiver, that had Spectrum satellite receivers. To the point. When you bind the plane, it automatically sets up a three-position switch for flight modes, normal, advanced, and 3D. I know, get to the question already. I don't think the Radiomaster would have received that mode. Is there a way to do it on the RM?
Probably-you just need to learn what channel the other receiver used and put a 3 position switch on that channel in the mixer on your RM.
Thank you for your extremely helpful videos on the Radiomaster TX16s!
I am new to this radio. I bound my transmitter to a new Radiomaster R84 V2 receiver. However, if the transmitter gets closer than ~ 3 feet to the receiver, the connection is lost. I do not have this problem when using same transmitter bound to a HiTec Optima 6 channel receiver. Two weeks of emails with Radiomaster has not helped.
Have you seen or heard of this? Any suggestions? Thank you in advance!
It’s probably swamping. I’ve seen this on other Rx’s. No issues when you’re a couple feet away?
You could also try moving the antennas around. Make sure you’re not pointing the radio antenna at the Rx.
@@RCVideoReviews Thank you for your reply!!!
Correct, no issues when over 3 feet away. Which direction should the antennae be pointing (receiver and transmitter - I am new to both)?
Need help on flysky i10 -fsi10 radio control, can you help me how to setup my frist time
Muito bom.

Hi just got my tx16s 4in1 having some trouble binding my spektrum recievers any tips on this

Try putting the DSM protocol on AUTO.
Is there a button to do safe select on the bnf planes?
You have finally convinced me to switch to radio master. All my receivers are Spektrum (BNF Eflite planes) or Lemon with stab, or an Admiral or two with stab.
I assume that the link here to Amazon herein gets you the small commission. I am not sure which TX16S but I do want the better gimbals. Would the TX16S MKII V4 be a good choice? I see I also need a separate battery so my cost would be ~$255 less than my 3 yr old NX6.
Any thoughts?
MKII with v4 gimbals is a solid choice. The AG01's are also very good.
@@RCVideoReviews Got the MarkII W/V4 gimbals, now have to start watching ur instruction videos while waiting for it t o arrive.
Hi i just got this radio, and when callibrating and sliding the right slider all the way to the top on screen i only see it going a bit above half of the center, the left slider reaches the top. Do u know a fix and if its software or hardware? When sliding it smoothly goes from the bottom till lets say 54% without a dead zone so i think its a bug or setting, anyone got a clue? Tnx
