Update: After cycling power on/off on the Tx and drone, the arm button now works! Yay! Hello! I'm following your tutorial and managed to get my TX16S radio bound to the drone (Cinebot30 O3 ELRS). I also managed to connect to betaflight and confirmed that sticks respond accordingly in the receiver tab. In the modes tab, the flight mode inputs on the radio respond accordingly in betaflight (angle, horizon) but the arming mode does not. I did set up the arming on/off on Aux 1 per your video (and in receiver mode of betaflight it does respond when I toggle the arm button). I'm not sure why it is not showing in the modes view. Also, the motors on the drone do not spin when armed. Any help would be much appreciated!
Hi Steve, this video has been brilliant. I am very very new to the drone world. The TX16s MK 2 is my first receiver however I got the ELRS version which means when selecting ‘Internal RF’ it is only giving me the option of CRSF. Would this affect binding with an EMAX drone? (I have brought the Tiny Hawk 2 Freestyle) Should have I got the 4 in 1 instead? This is open to anyone who has answers! Thanks
Yes, you should have got the 4-in-1 version because now you can only bind to drones with an ELRS receiver that is running the same version as your radio.
Hi Captain. Great video for the newbies here. Thank you. I'm just stuck at the binding part, where I have to select Internal RF. My drone is a Pavo 25 with TBS. And I can't find this option on the list. What should I do please?
Thanks for your knowledge and good audio. Can you help me with two things? One, Do you know Bluetooth module for the Radiomaster tx16s mkii v4 and how to install it? Second, how do I go about hooking my radio to my pc for a sim drone game I'm running into a wall lol. Btw I want the Bluetooth so I can use my earbuds and not the speaker in the radio.
I have a Radiomaster R81 Receiver and Radio Master TX16S, and I'm running Beta Flight 10.8 on Windows 10 Pro. My radio is bound to my receiver indicated by the solid red light but I can not see the movements of the sticks in betaflight. Any advice besides retrace steps?
In betaflight, does your drone move when you move it as you saw in my vid? If no, then your USB cable is not sending the info. If it does move but then nothing occurs on your RECEIVER tab when moving the joysticks... was there a battery connected to the drone and was the RADIO powered on first before powering on the Drone? The other item to look at, more technical, is in BETAFLIGHT under one of the first tabs (configuration I believe) you'll see where there is an option where you can select how your flight controller talks to your receiver with options like SBUS, etc. If everything else is good, then this may be incorrect.
It works with the TINY receivers that are placed in items (FPV Drones, RC Planes, RC Helicopters, RC Boats, RC Tanks, RC Trucks) in the RC Hobby. So it works with everything. But it won't work with the GPS Camera Drone hobby because that is considered a beginner all-in-one hobby (i.e. when you buy a GPS Camera Drone from a company like DJI, AUTEL, HUBSAN, FIMI) the manufacturer makes certain that their product will only work with items THEY sell so that beginners do not have to figure things out and everything just works.
Great video… I have been building drones for 13 plus years… PLEASE take your props off. Whether or not you choose to in the privacy of your own build bench is up to you, but to say “I’ve been doing this a long time” and then leave your props on, just not cool. New folks are watching… and learning. Let’s teach good habits.
I'm 99.9% ready to fly my quad. The problem is that after arming, I'm able to take my quad up to full power, But, as I reduce my stick the motors remain at full power, and my throttle stick no longer effects the quad. Is this a TX16s fix or a betaflight fix? Thanks for the cool video.
That is 100% the way it should work when the quad is not flying, so don’t do that as it is rough on the motors/ESC. When you fly it will work differently.
Great info and very helpful, but I need a little more help. I have a FrSky SM+ and it appears to have properly bound with my TS16S, I get a solid green light on the RX but nothing works. Can't arm or anything. In BetaFlight on the controller section there is no movement when I move the sticks. Help?
In the FPV world there are a large number of things that could be wrong especially for someone new. What this means is that you'll eventually figure out the issue. Everyone started at level zero in the hobby and when they had a snag, it was trial and error and learning. If you know anyone in the FPV hobby that can physically look at your drone and setup, they could resolve it quickly.
hey so I can assign all the AUX switches directly through Betaflight (for the new radio) because some reviews they remap the AUX switches in the remote before using them in Betaflight! what are you doing is make since, let beta flight tells the AUX I just choose the position after choosing (AUTO) in Betaflight.
The reason you can’t find a video is because it is super simple to do. If you watch any of my videos of new radios on the market as well as new FPV RTF Kits, I often show how simple it is to connect to a flight sim. Just power on the radio, and connect a usb cable from your PC to the top of the radio. The screen on the radio will ask if you want to use it as a joystick, you then confirm YES. You should be able to figure it out from there.
You set up a model exactly the same. For receiver you select CRSF (it is the short form for CrossFire). Next you go into your radios system menu, then tools menu & select express LRS, then select Bind. If you don’t know how to bind ELRS, watch Joshua Bardwell’s video on binding ELRS.
Steve you are the Master of Drones so I was wondering if you know of a way to connect the TX16S with the Ranger to the Pixhawk C6 or any other flight controller that is capable of autonomous flight using QGroundControl to obtain the long range of the Ranger and autonomous flight of the Pixhawk. This is actually for a watercraft and I have already spend hours reading, testing with no success. I am very fluent in using and programming the Taranis but I don't get the distance. I even tried the Ranger on my x9d Taranis and even though it plugs in to the back, the Ranger will not power up when I power up the Taranis. Help!!!
My Internal RF mode during binding says off or CRSF. There is no Multi option. Did I miss a step? I have a Cinelog 35 w ERLS and the TXS is the Josh Bardwell ERLS version.
Hey Captain, when I flick the arming switch, nothing happens. I'm not sure if Betaflight just isn't detecting it or something else but the motors won't spin up when I arm the drone. Another issue I had was that betaflight was detecting the throttle joystick as roll and the pitch as the throttle and so on, how should I fix this?
Drone captain.. hey so when setting up crossfire in the model set up page where you can choose the what intena to use. External for crossfire it now gives you a BAUDRATE. ? Which do I choose?
For CROSSFIRE receivers, when you have a CROSSFIRE MODULE on the back of the RADIO, you select EXTERNAL and CRSF and that is all. Then go into the SYSTEM MENU, find TOOLS and find CROSSFIRE and you'll figure out the rest for binding.
Using the Radiomaster TX16 ELRS can you fly helicopters and planes? I am new to this and have become interested in RC flying helicopters and planes. I mistakenly ordered the ELRS version but have not received it yet. All the videos that I see on the TX16s use the 4 in 1 with helicopters and planes but I notice that when you were in the main screen of your TX16s ELRS there were planes and helicopters models as well as drones. Does this mean that the ELRS version can be used to create these models, helicopters and planes, and fly them?
The answer is that ELRS is big in the FPV drone hobby but no big in the RC plane and Helicopter hobbies. ELRS is just a Receiver and Transmitter (the transmitter being the radio). You’d have to learn how to install an ELRS receiver in a plane or helicopter. You’d be better off with a non-ELRS radio at this time.
Steve does this Radiomaster bind with all the new RC ERA Helicopters? Im at lost with the radios and unsure what to even get, is there a Radio you woulld suggest for RC EWRA helicopters and Blades helicopters also? Thank you!!!!!
The way it works is like this. Almost Every item in the RC Hobby (planes, helicopters, drones,, cars, trucks, tanks, boats) has a RECEIVER. The RECEIVER will only bind to a TRANSMITTER that speaks the same language. A TRANSMITTER is another name for a RADIO. So when you buy a radio you will want to ensure the transmitter can speak to the receiver. For example, if you buy an FPV Drone with an ELRS 2.4 ghz RECEIVER then you need a radio that is ELRS 2.4. I believe for helis like RC ERA they have a FUTABA RECEIVER which means you’d need a FUTABA FHSS radio or any radio with the FUTABA Protocol such as a 4-in-1 radio.
Awesome I just received my TX16S and although I've been flying bing n flys for a while I'm confused. I am bonding it to my new happymodel crux35 analog SPI Frysky quad. I'm not understanding why under protocol It seems I am supposed to choose JXT? Or something like that instead of frysky 8? I'm trying to understand this I guess if that's even correct. And if I should bind through beta flight or the old button way? Thank you so much for your help and videos
Tutorial??? You simply plug a USB cable from your computer into the top of the TX16s and then select JOYSTICK on the TX16s. As for the sim… use any sim you like. Just remember that all sims need you to tell it what your input device is (i.e., USB JOYSTICK) and then the sim will need you to configure the JOYSTICK endpoints (move the joysticks around). Every sim is different…. You’ll figure it out.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Thanks, So I wanted to return the tx16s but the company can’t take it back, but I’ve decided to push on with it and I am following JB’s tutorial with liftoff and its going well. You always FIRST buy a radio, then you buy a drone with a receiver that matches your radio. For example, if you own an ELRS radio then you will always then buy drones with ELRS receivers in them.

Hi Captain. Great video for the newbies here. Thank you. I'm just stuck at the binding part, where I have to select Internal RF. My drone is a Pavo 25 with TBS. And I can't find this option on the list. What should I do please?
TBS means you require a crossfire micro module to be place on the external port (back side) of the radio.
I have not used Bluetooth. Plug usb into top of radio and then select joystick to use sim.
Wow fpv drone and remote😍
I like your red carrying case, what’s the make of it?
It is probably this one or similar brand name: ruclips.net/video/fT3Aho43lgk/видео.html
Cool video nice review
Awesome as always. Is there a list of the pre-registered drones available somewhere? Thanks.
Hello, can you make video how to setup for airplanes, dual rate, expo settings?!
Perhaps in the future.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 I like the way you make video..
Great video…
I have been building drones for 13 plus years… PLEASE take your props off. Whether or not you choose to in the privacy of your own build bench is up to you, but to say “I’ve been doing this a long time” and then leave your props on, just not cool. New folks are watching… and learning. Let’s teach good habits.
WHY would you set up a two position switch for angle and horizon? You'll never be able to fly in acro mode.
Great channel
I'm 99.9% ready to fly my quad. The problem is that after arming, I'm able to take my quad up to full power, But, as I reduce my stick the motors remain at full power, and my throttle stick no longer effects the quad. Is this a TX16s fix or a betaflight fix? Thanks for the cool video.
That is 100% the way it should work when the quad is not flying, so don’t do that as it is rough on the motors/ESC. When you fly it will work differently.
Extra sweet
Why not just using existing quad mode?
Great info and very helpful, but I need a little more help. I have a FrSky SM+ and it appears to have properly bound with my TS16S, I get a solid green light on the RX but nothing works. Can't arm or anything. In BetaFlight on the controller section there is no movement when I move the sticks. Help?
In the FPV world there are a large number of things that could be wrong especially for someone new. What this means is that you'll eventually figure out the issue. Everyone started at level zero in the hobby and when they had a snag, it was trial and error and learning. If you know anyone in the FPV hobby that can physically look at your drone and setup, they could resolve it quickly.
hey
so I can assign all the AUX switches directly through Betaflight (for the new radio) because some reviews they remap the AUX switches in the remote before using them in Betaflight!
what are you doing is make since, let beta flight tells the AUX I just choose the position after choosing (AUTO) in Betaflight.
YES, I just select AUTO then move the switch. BUT this is only after I have assigned the switches to the drone model in my radio.
Do you have a video on how to set this up for a Flight Sim? I can't seem to find a video anywhere. :( (that I can understand).
Hi this was great, but how do you bind the new ELRS Radio Master t16 MK2?
You set up a model exactly the same. For receiver you select CRSF (it is the short form for CrossFire). Next you go into your radios system menu, then tools menu & select express LRS, then select Bind. If you don’t know how to bind ELRS, watch Joshua Bardwell’s video on binding ELRS.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Thank you for the reply. I have to use the ExpressLRS lua correct? Again thank you great videos, have been very help
Hi. Is there a way to buy the internal ELRS modulo and retrofit It into the MK1 MAX?
I recently got the skylite from rotoriot and I set my controller up exactly like this and still nothing :/ won’t fly
Help!!!
I’m not at all familiar with the pixhawk C6. The Ranger module is normally ELRS so it would require an ELRS receiver.
When i go to select a model there are no photos all there are are boxes with numbers and letters in them.
My Internal RF mode during binding says off or CRSF. There is no Multi option. Did I miss a step? I have a Cinelog 35 w ERLS and the TXS is the Josh Bardwell ERLS version.
As noted in the video, I’m using the 4-in-1 version (not ELRS)
Hey Captain, when I flick the arming switch, nothing happens. I'm not sure if Betaflight just isn't detecting it or something else but the motors won't spin up when I arm the drone. Another issue I had was that betaflight was detecting the throttle joystick as roll and the pitch as the throttle and so on, how should I fix this?
Did you ever resolve your issue?
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 yeah it turns out that I’m an idiot and that there was just some stuff stopping the drone from arming
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Thank you so much!
How do you set this up to iflight Nazgûl evoque? I need help
are ur input switches supposed to match the channels in the mixer tab?
Not really. You can assign any switch to any thing you wish.
Thank you so much for your help and videos
any tutorials on how to do the sim on the computer with the tx16s?
This will be a journey well worth it I believe. I’ll be following and subbing your channel. Thanks again for the response. Here is to a new journey! Cheers.
@@TheextremepessimistThe FPV drone hobby is exhilarating. You’re on the right track!
Is this video dated now? My tiny hawk and Cetus both wont bind with this radio while in binding mode on both. I did just learn how the binding button works from this video so i thought i solved my problem, but neither will connect. Am i just stupid? both of them run of FrSky d8, thats what the radio is set to!
So you’re a newbie which means you’re probably doing something wrong. Unfortunately no one can help you unless they are standing over your shoulder and watching what you are doing. I can say this… like everyone before you… you’ll figure it out.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 so i just discovered the radio did not come with the telemetry. It was in fact me being stupid. The part has been ordered, ill keep you posted
Sweet
Hello, in the video it says AETR at 04:34.
Can I change it to TAER from that section?
I'm new to fpv.
I bought a new remote control.
my old remote was TAER.
Yes, if that is what you desire. Whatevery you type in that area within BETAFLIGHT CONFIGURATOR and hit SAVE is what will be applied to the Joysticks.
I have just installed edgetx on my radiomaster Tx16s and I have gone thro everything you did here, but it does not show any picture of any drone that I choice nor show it the timer ...:( what do you think is wrong? thank you and sry my bad spelling
It sounds like your photos (if any) are not in the correct directory
Did you got Hubsan ACE SE drones
Not at the moment. I believe someone wants to send one to me for review.
Can I buy the drone
Sir in inputs switch SA is set for modes.and for mixes you set SB for modes is this correct?
This is an old video so I don’t remember. But normally you set the input and mixes switch the same.
What is the name of this drone
i need help or explanation, i see some tx 16s say 4 in 1 and others say open elrs, which one do i buy for drones?
You always FIRST buy a radio, then you buy a drone with a receiver that matches your radio. For example, if you own an ELRS radio then you will always then buy drones with ELRS receivers in them.
Very helpfull thanks
