TODAY’s Hoda Kotb teamed up with Cyndi Lauper and Sara Bareilles, who mashed up their hits 'True Colors' and 'Brave' to create a song to raise money for the fight against pediatric cancer. The music video for “Truly Brave” features young cancer patients from The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

I know that this video has been out for a while now but I haven't been able to watch it for the fear of the memories it would bring back. When my daughter's doctor told us "I'm so sorry, it's cancer" you just can't believe it, you don't want to believe it. My daughter underwent multiple surgeries, rounds of chemotherapy and I can honestly say that the children are the ones that are truly brave. My daughter always thought that if you have Hope, Strength and Faith it will equal a Cure and in her case she was right. She is over 10 years cancer free. Bless all the children... Isaiah 41:10

Great news! We need all the positives we can get. So many of us are losing loved ones to this terrible epidemic. The general public seems unaware of the number of lives lost each day until it visits their circle. We must support any efforts to eradicate cancer! Thanks for this inspiring video!

I at least had my son for almost 22 yrs. what you wrote was really awesome. I can tell you right now, that this is my personal theme song, which gives me inspiration EVERY single day that I do my work. I laugh and I cry and I think of the moms and dads and siblings out there dealing with this beast. The ONLY thing to dislike here - correction: LOATHE is CANCER ITSELF. This is such an incredibly beautiful treatment of such an incredibly difficult subject, Sending love to you and your precious Angel.

Any child battling cancer or another life threatening decease is a true hero. Ever time I think about cancer and how many children have died, I cry. And I just hope they, "Keep On Swimming." -
And people dislike this??? This is for a cause!! Come out of you little sheltered boxes and open your eyes!! I will support songs like this because I lost both of my parents to cancer - Colon and Breast.. do I want your pitty, NO... Than you Sara and Cyndi!!! This was my mom's favorite song she listened to it everyday she passed away suddenly and listening to this song brings her back for a short amount of time mom I love you

My Truly Brave niece is going in right now for her end of treatment bone marrow and spinal fluid tests after two years of chemotherapy for leukemia. She just turned three. Prayers and hope are needed now more than ever for her. Awareness, funding, and research are needed now more than ever for all the future childhood cancer warriors.
Bone marrow and CSF clear!!! Post-treatment and in remission. A few more years (and prayers) and we can officially call it cured!!!

MY son is a cancer survivor 24 years now! Does a heart good to see the smiles on their faces knowing what they are going through.. My son had Hepatoblastoma a rare liver cancer, he was diagnosed at 16 months old! Now he is a grown man taller than me! Yes we was very lucky having to use experimental chemo drugs and major surgery. Now these Chemo meds are used on a daily basis in hospitals world wide.. those that dislike a story like this has no heart!!

All i can say, is this is truly a wonderful combination of two of the most beautiful songs i have ever heard
It's amazing the joy children can find, despite disease. I had one patient with a large abdonminal tumor that decorated his IV poll as Wall-e, had a "glow stick party" in his room, and found so many outlets for fun, happiness and joy.
This song brought me to tears, I saw it that morning! Hoda, this was AWESOME!

Such a heart-warming song..I honestly couldn't contain myself with the message it brings, how we all must unite in promoting awareness about cancer that whoever stricken with such nefarious illness, hope & positivity musn't be altered with grief or self-devastation. It is a journey & a tough travail to travel which test our sense of patience & perseverance without giving out whatever courage left in us. There'll always hope of life awaits that could be more colorful, much powerful fr afar & we just don't give up & keep hanging on to life's optimistic side..

can watch this over and aver again- with an unbelievable appreciation for CHOP and all the children we met thru the early 90's- my daughter, a survivor, now 20 yrs later, used to say CHOP til you drop... but now she sees how much it hurt but maybe it had to be that way... funny, back then I /we used to sing I have confidence from Sound of Music... wish we had these lovely voices back then-HUGE TY for all involved in this lovely tribute to the children and CHOP!

8 years ago, I was diagnosed with Cancer, When I learned of what I had, all I could think about was my sons, and what they would feel if I did not make it through the ordeal I had. Today I am a survivor, because of the skills of my doctors, and enjoying that I am still here with them to enjoy their lives.
While they did have to endure the worry, I also started to see what my feelings were toward kids who have cancer, that they worry about what they have, is something that potentially may take them from their families. My thoughts go out to these kids and that they are and will be survivors as well, and that they can enjoy their forever lives with their families!
This song is amazing!! I have biliary cancer and it brought me to tears when I saw the TODAY SHOW in the making of it. WOW....seeing the RUclips video with the song & kids together....all I can say is WOW!! I LOVE IT!!

yes, she's an angel. our home-girl. ;) my boys used to sing with her at church in the kids choir. Laura lee taught them. Sara had the lead in little shop of horrors at high school. my youngest son Mike had a huge crush on her. we went to see it all week.
she's always sang with heart. we all love her here in hometown. ♥ This video was so inspiring, I so love it. and I thank you for what you and Cyndi did. oh my gosh, I was just singing Girls just want to have fun last night! haha..;) I love these beautiful children in the video, and I pray that God Blesses and keeps them here for a long time. their colors are.....Beautiful, like Sara and Cyndi's. People who unlike are monsters, cancer is a serious disease that is heartbreaking and so hard to get over. Those kids are strong, creative, adorable, and everything that a normal person is and maybe better. ❤️
I know this is about pediatric cancer but it can inspire others also. This weekend in Toledo is the Walk for the Cure for breast cancer awareness. I posted it on my facebook page to inspire all of those brave women and men who will take part in this worthy cause. Thanks Sarah and Cyndi for this marvelous collaboration to inspire so many.

When me and my sister's heard it yesterday and today, it has brighten the dark of dealing with our Mom's final stage of life with ovarian cancer she has been fighting for the last 8 years.
