You grew up in the best era in our history. Wish times were like that again. The internet has messed up so much. For the first few years it was good from 2005-2008, then after that it turned dark fast.
Hard to believe, and extremely depressing, that The Goonies movie will be 40 freakin' years old next year, in 2025. I was 6 years old when it was released into theaters, way back in 1985. I still remember my Grandma and Grandpa taking me to see it...such fun times back then. It's still one of my favorite movies, even to this very day, in 2024. I pop it in, and give it a watch, every now and then. Brings back a lot of great memoires, too, but it's just an all-around great/fun movie, with an awesome cast. Ironically, I was just playing The Goonies on the NES earlier, and as soon as I get onto RUclips afterwards, this video is in my feed. Awesome song, too, but hard to say anything negative about, anything, that Cyndi Lauper ever recorded though. Such a great time back then...and I really miss those days, and those times back then, too. Getting older is pure s**t, especially when family and friends start passing away all-around you. That's Life though, unfortunately... Here's to the better days, and times, too...🍻
Tomorrow is not guaranteed to anyone. I'm same age. Give thanks for those good times and being alive right now. A 23 year old died at my job not that long ago, I always think about that when I think I'm having "a bad day". Gratitude is the ultimate prayer. Another 80s movie - Twilight Zone had a good message in it. The old people who became kids again, never live in the past and make new memories every day🙏
@@SerpentStar_ Most definitely. Totally agree, and I do try. I had to have sudden, life or death, brain surgery back in September 2020, after coming close to passing on myself, had they not caught what they did, and when they did, so I totally understand what you are saying. I have a jacked up memory now, short-term memory is forever screwed up, for good, and I can no longer even remember 6-12 hours from earlier in the day anymore because of it. Unfortunately, the only good memories I now have, are all in the past. My long-term memory is all good, for the most part, for now, so I'm able to remember all the good stuff from the past, for now, but because of the brain surgery,.I'll be more likely to have serious memory issues from now on, and it will only continue to worsen as I get older (I'm about to be 45 years old in May). This song and music video make me wanna cry so bad 😫 . It reminds me of my youth and how many times my older bro and I watched goonies, and how times were so much slower and better, I miss those days! 😖
Worn out Testicles the reason the days were slower was because when your a kid we didn’t have many responsibilities so we had a lot of time on our hands. We depend on our parents and school to give everything to us especially if you went to a public school. When you get older and have to work half the day pay several bills and pay rent or a mortgage time goes a lot faster. If you have kids it goes even faster

@@AImaiaoh yes it was awesome. And i am not just saying that. I see teens now, the things that they think are important (like social media status) and whenever they have a good time with each other IN PERSON, they are blown away by how great it is. I see them say "my god, yesterday was so awesome, hanging out and talking!!" That was a daily thing back then!
@@bdmc6583nobody says that. i don’t think you understand how teens function in today’s society. it’s the same exact way. the 80s wasn’t the first and last decade to have people hanging out and doing things outside
I was a child in the '70's. Just had movies like Jaws, King Kong, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Star Wars, Grease, The Black Hole and Saturday's Night Fever as pop culture...
First heard a version of it in the 90's on "Goonies" video game from 1986 on Famicon. Always loved the song and just couple of days ago found the original. Going to watch the movie too soon. Greetings from Finland!
80s classic.. we all wanted to grow up so quickly 🤦♂️ now we just wanna go back to our childhoods haha this def takes me back for just a few mins . The goonies is def one of the best kids movie ever made!
Damn....seeing these Superstars of WWF/WWE back in the 80's brings back a lot of memories ....Piper,Blaise,Albano,Moolah. Man,wish I were a teenager again
Even Pro Wrestling was more fun back then...remember the Sat AM cartoon with Hulk Hogan and all these guys? Iron Sheik, Capt. Lou, Rowdy Roddy Piper, Andre the Giant...
This is my 1st time seeing the full music video. Seeing Piper, Blassie, Moolah, Albano, etc.. all young, in their prime, goofy, and...... alive just brings a tear to my eye!!!!
Same here It sucks and is sad seeing the people we looked up to passing away or only a small shadow of their former selves. I always ask my self am I going to be the same
Movies were handled like premieres im my area. The owner of the theatre drove up to Chicago to get films then he'd make an announcement in the paper. If it was a kid's movie it was free the first night & he also held the premiere of Thriller for everybody who didn't have cable or wanted to come.Goonies brought everybody in town out.We were so excited since it was the first "teen" movie that premiered with the rest of the country.1,500 kids & we made them replay it twice 🤭❤️
@@demonhunter5136there was definitely porn videos. Jeez the 80s weren't the 40s. Lol there was definitely smut on the 80s. I was 7 when this video came out, but I'm quite aware of dirty videos during that time, my cousin had some videos lol.
Just because something is old, doesn't make it inferior...... Classic's ALWAYS age well (just not many movie's recently could be considered classic's). Fyi I love the epic Goonies movie too.
I still remember the first time I saw the movie. I was mesmerized by how good it was. The first nightmare on elm street was also another one that blew me away as a kid. Growing up 80’s was so badass I will always keep them memories.
kids would literally laugh at Freddie Kruger today, but as a young boy in the 80s, I suffered many sleepless nights thinking about A Nightmare on Elm Street...in fact, my mother wouldn't let me watch scary movies for about a year after...so funny. I went into the Marines, started a business...but I was the kid who was scared shitkess by one of the campiest horror films of all time.
Wow, I was 13 when this came out and it just reminds of how awesome the 80s were. Freaking Goonies, WWF and Cyndi Lauper. What more do you need? I miss those days, but can relive them a bit here on RUclips. Just blown away from nostalgic feelings right now.
My dad was born in the 70s, raised in the 80s. Being Aussie he had never heard this song on any local radio stations. I assumed he had and put this on in the car one time. Now he's sorry he didn't know this masterpiece... I also absolutely love how kind and warm Cyndi appears to be with the Goonies. I bet that's what she's like with people IRL.
He could be forgiven as this was not one of Cyndi’s more well known songs. I was born in ‘80 myself and hadn’t been aware of this song either until I REWATCHED The Goonies again just last year.
All depends when in the 70's, like if he was born in 1979 then he was raised in the 80's. If he was born in 1970/71 then he was born + raised in 70's/80's!
🌸From Japanese🇯🇵 When I was child, I often watched Goonies. This song is reminds me of a small time. Recently, I saw it again.I felt like having with a Goonies member! I love all member. Finally, Sorry bad speak English, and thank you for reading!
THIS video sums up my early years to a tee. Wrestlers, pop music with synthesisers and looking for pirate treasure. The 80's were a great time. 2:15 when the synth tones kick in I'm immediately taken back to being a little kid again.
This takes me back to when I was 17 in 1998! I got to see NSYNC at the local radio station's birthday bash, along with other acts from the 90s. My friend and I decided to be late to school, and drove to a local coffee shop where the station was giving out free tickets. Then in May 98, we witnessed the amazing NSYNC in all their raw talent, singing, killing the dance moves and the backflips! I was stunned and immediately bought their CD. Then saw them on the Disney concert weeks later and they blew up! What an awesome time! Now I've introduced my daughter to them and she loves NSYNC. "Now is the time for us to reunite!"
I think the reason Cindy doesn't like this song and hasn't performed it live for several years is because it's too connected to the movie, even though it's a lyric that has little to do with the Goonies story.
Hmmm... Ghostbusters, Indiana Jones, Back to the Future, Neverending Story, The Secret of Nimh, The Dark Crystal, Harry and the Hendersons, Return to Oz, Earnest goes to Camp, Karate Kid., Flight of the Navigator, the Sandlot... we have a lot to choose from.
This is concentrated 80's. You've got pro wrestling, the goonies, hair band singers, Steven Spielberg, and Mario himself floating around here. Also the "music video" format was still in that very experimental stage with this being halfway between that and something trying to tell a story.
I never ever thought she was attractive growing up at all until I saw her in a movie called vibes. She and her skin complexion is so freaking sexy. Check it out if you haven't seen it
Fresh bouncing and bubbly her style and only her Music has that Pop Rock swagger with those 80s Keyboards can't be matched or touched for time vibe and era endless list goes on how the pinnacle of anything and everything was the 80s not to mention her Pink Hair stands her apart from the other Chick Singers who were around quite a few i could go on
The 80s was absolutely the Best music decade ever!! There were so many huge bands and the music was so fun, vibrant and awesome. Man, I miss those days.
When the world we knew back then started dying at the end of the 80s era. Such an energetic, happy world then. I Always pause for thought to think back to That time, was such a great chapter in life the 80s.
RIP Catrine Lauper, mother of Cyndi Lauper. Thank you for contributing to the happiness of my childhood. I love this video (and Girls Just Wanna Have Fun), and loved and appreciated your role in them.
Is it just me or were a lot more songs in the 80s and 90s infused with positive energy and optimism? I mean, the message of this song is pretty awesome. We need more of that.
+David Mc No there really isn't, most music today is garbage. Auto tuned crap with no energy or spirit whatsoever, people get the kicks out of the music for the money. Now I wouldn't say there isn't talent because I'd be lying but majority of today's music is total trash. No morals, no nothing.
No internet, no cell phones (except the gigantic sat phones that only millionaires owned), 3 channels on the tube, wearing out the 'Back to the Future' and 'Goonies,' VHS tapes from the rental place, Saturday morning cartoons, Star Wars action figures, and playing outdoors year 'round. I miss my 80's childhood.
yep playing outdoors all year around was no joke back then...that was our social media...not chatting for hours behind some keyboard and not getting together in person...and how fun was Halloween back in the day, we actually weren't afraid to go to peoples houses and we also had egg fights...we made our own fun...i feel so bad for these kids today.
Dad out of work, strikes all the time, most TV was awful, turds in the public pool, piss in the gutters, closed up shops, skinheads kicking the crap out of kids down the park, yeah, the 80s rocked.
I was born in 91 so i missed the 80's. But my parents were late teens in the 80's so raising us kids was totally 80's themed. 80's music, movies, we were poor so 80's hand me down clothes. I wish all the time i could have grown up in the 80's, but im glad my parents shared all of the best of that decade with my siblings and i. The goonies and cyndi lauper were a HUGE part of my childhood and probably one of my fondest memories! I come to watch this music video from time to time to remember my dad who passed in 2012. We would always watch the goonies together ❤️
watching this video is like stepping into the 80s, I was born in 1980, and I miss those times so much, going on bicycle adventures just like the goonies.
Well done to you both. I was born in the 80's but loved the 60's and 70's too. People who look back at the generation before them are my type of people as it means you have a wiser perspective
Thought the 80's were hard. watched this with my young children. now my grandchildren just left their teenage years wish I could go back .....me and Cyndi were so young then... Now we're 67 ....seems unreal!!
Even more sad- the movie "Gleaming the Cube" with Tony Hawk/Christian Slater is rounding that corner as well, haha. I still ride my skateboard....if Tony still does it, why can't I, haha:-)
This song seems to encapsulate the 1980s feel for me. Has so many elements from back then. I was born 82, but I remember the feeling of the 80s from a child's perspective.
Tears swell in my eyes when i see this video and start to think of how much time has passed since my youth...what a time to be a kid!!
It was not all good times, but it was like at least 90% good times.
I was watching The Goonies and hearing this made me think the very same thing. The 80's were awesome!

This song and music video make me wanna cry so bad 😫 . It reminds me of my youth and how many times my older bro and I watched goonies, and how times were so much slower and better, I miss those days! 😖
I hear you, 1985 was so long ago now. I cry just thinking about those days to be honest.
Slower - the perfect word for that era. Now decades fly by at the speed of light, back in the 80s and 90s the summers seem to never end...
If I ever get the DeLorean working, I'm picking y'all up so we can head back
Worn out Testicles the reason the days were slower was because when your a kid we didn’t have many responsibilities so we had a lot of time on our hands. We depend on our parents and school to give everything to us especially if you went to a public school. When you get older and have to work half the day pay several bills and pay rent or a mortgage time goes a lot faster. If you have kids it goes even faster
ASTARION Studio your comment is the most predictable and over used comment on RUclips 🤦🏻♂️
Cyndi Lauper voice makes any of her songs worth listening to it is hypnotic.
Os goones marcaram época, uma geração,e Cyndi Lauper é uma artista incomparável que deveria ser muito mais valorizados do que muitos artista que existem por aí.

No. I've always hated the heat.
Watching The Goonies in the theatre with my dad was one of the best highlights of my life at age 8.

I still remember the first time I saw the movie. I was mesmerized by how good it was. The first nightmare on elm street was also another one that blew me away as a kid. Growing up 80’s was so badass I will always keep them memories.
Compared to so many 80s movies, it was a masterpiece!

kids would literally laugh at Freddie Kruger today, but as a young boy in the 80s, I suffered many sleepless nights thinking about A Nightmare on Elm Street...in fact, my mother wouldn't let me watch scary movies for about a year after...so funny.
It was on Aussie radio and TV in 1985. On high rotation. Like everywhere else in the world.

Crapping on peoples positive memories and vibes will get you that kind of response.
Goonies is by far the best kids movie from the 80’s
