Summer of 1985, 21 years old, a month off leave from the Air Force, traveled to Clearwater Beach Florida, was a beach bum for the entire time, this song playing on the airwaves. Doesn't get better than that. Apex of my life, lol.

My pop bought us tickets to see Huey & the boys play at Cal Expo Ampitheater in Sacramento CA that August. That was the movie and song of the summer, it was a sold-out show, and they had been touring for a while (on "Sports") and were super-tight; I was very aware that was great timing to see that awesome gig!! I started high school that September...

I think his hits would, mostly, still be hits if they were released today. Their talent is timeless...as is Huey himself, who looks like he hasn't aged a day since the 80's. I saw them in '06 on tour with Chicago...awesome concert! You know they are at a whole different level when they are getting respect from Chicago.
Their early work was a little too new wave for my tastes but when Sports came out in `83, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically.
The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. I was a young kid working at Universal Studios in those years and spent many weekends when there wasn't any shooting going on playing at the Clock Tower, Malt Shop and at all the fake stores in between!! It was a Dream Job for when you're young.. I even got to walk into Steven Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment on the lot once and that was normally off limits to almost everyone! I’m very happy that Huey Lewis and the News’ music was used in Deadpool and Wolverine. They’re one of my favorite bands to listen to and this is no exception!

I saw "Back to the Future"when I was 14 in July of 1985 and loved it. "Power of Love" was constantly played on the radio that summer and I loved it as well. My pop bought us tickets to see Huey & the boys play at Cal Expo Ampitheater in Sacramento CA that August. That was the movie and song of the summer, it was a sold-out show, and they had been touring for a while (on "Sports") and were super-tight; I was very aware that was great timing to see that awesome gig!! I started high school that September...

I was a young kid working at Universal Studios in those years and spent many weekends when there wasn't any shooting going on playing at the Clock Tower, Malt Shop and at all the fake stores in between!! It was a Dream Job for when you're young.. I even got to walk into Steven Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment on the lot once and that was normally off limits to almost everyone! There are a lot of 80s properties I love, but this is one of my absolute favorites that still captures my heart. Back to the Future is one of the greatest trilogies of all time.
I would give up the final 20 years of my life to be able to relive the 80's all over again. As a teenage back then we had the best decade ever. Listen to the radio back then was like winning the lottery. Every week new awesome songs came out.
