This song is EVERYTHING!!!..I PLAYED IT OVER AND OVER..as I left my 28 yr abusive marriage...I'd also had a horrible abusive childhood...horrible father..then molested by stepfather...then when I finally was free and on my own..I was diagnosed with breast cancer...4 months chemo and 4 weeks radiation...I believe your body responds to stress with sicknesses...that was mine..I am now 5 yrs cancer free..but just had back surgery...her song gives me strength to speak up finally when I never had a voice before..I wish I could thank her...
Gideon Hardin Scott What? That’s so rude. Don’t assume gods colour. He/she might he different from that. I don’t god would like to offend people. God is god and he/she is amazing.
The most underrated singer in existence if you ask me. She sounds amazing live and writes all of her music. She is also an amazing author! Her book truly sounds like her and it's so great!
Yet the song is based on a total lie. Women do NOT want you to “say what you wanna say” or “be brave”. They want you to say what they want to hear. The song should be titled “Say what I wanna hear” or “Be brave in a way I approve of”. And it also helps significantly if you’re good looking.
@@PlomostriumGrastipulum Unfortunately, you are horribly mistaken. The song was inspired by a friend's stuggle to come out as gay. As much as I want to empathize with what ever caused you to form your incorrect opinion, the way you portray your perspective leaves a a horrible taste on everybody's mouth. Hope you find a way to cure the bitterness in your heart.
She went to my high school and paid for us to get a new music building which I get to use every single day🤩it's truly amazing that she remembers what got her to where she is!
@lolab1917 she is so deserved a grammy she is robbed 😭😔

This is literally my anthem. I've been bullied in every single school I've been to and everytime I listen to this song I just feel UNSTOPPABLE. like no one can get in my way anymore THIS SONG HELPS PEOPLE
I’m so sorry you’ve experienced this, so many times, sweetheart! You deserve much better. Remember, they are showing exactly who they are - empty inside. You ARE incredibly brave to keep getting every day & doing your v best. You are worthy & YOU ARE LOVED! Always talk to your parents or a kind teacher if it becomes too bad. You shouldn’t have to live that way & schools should have a zero tolerance policy for bullying behavior. Keep your chin up & be brave. You are worth it! 💕
I'm at one of the weakest phases of my life. When she said ' I wanna see you be brave.' I just started crying. When no one else is saying it to you. It means a lot even if it's in just a song.
I'm sorry you feel that way but at least you realize it. The media will tell you, that you are miserable - don't subscribe to their BS! Live y our life and stop paying attention to jerks.
@Annelisemu Coolname I hope you're Ok. I've just come out the other side of one of the darkest times of my life; walked through fire ... If you need a friend to listen, contact Me. You're important. Never forget that. I'm also crying while listening to this, .. because I Was brave. Finally.
This song makes me cry almost every time I hear it. It hits close to home because my cousin committed suicide in 2014. I miss him a lot and this song was played at his funeral. I love you, Timmy. May you rest in peace. I will be brave for you ❤
Literally one of the funnest music videos I have ever seen. Nothing crazy. No special effects. Just a bunch of normal people dancing and enjoying their day.
This is my BREAKOUT song! It was released right when I was getting divorced and it literally helped me be strong enough to stand up and fight for myself. It's one of my power songs. I just wanna see you be brave.
THAT IS WONDERFUL. @@gracieelkins9986 Each time I practice my own broadway show for myself, a little for my husband, like a young giddy fan. I have done my own show about 100 times, and it cracks him up and i feel American and loved.
Michelle ~ that is so awesome!! I can easily see how this would do that. I relied on a variety of songs to get me through those days, depending on my mood. I loved "Better Things" by the Kinks. Hope you're doing even better now...for me, it's hard to remember I was ever married to that jerk!! 😁
I was offered a new job two days ago. I negotiated the salary. I haven't heard anything back, but coming here because it was 100% out of character for me to do it, but i felt really brave doing it. Thank you.
Sara Bareilles is so underrated it hurts. Seems like majority of people only knows her because of Love Song and Brave. I hope they also take time to dive into her other music as well--she has a new album called More Love and it's absolutely fantastic! Please spread the word :)
I don't see why people should feel bad knowing her only because of love song and brave, those are her songs too. idk why you should be so negative about it.
Tbh I didn't know she sang this despite hearing it on the radio for a million times I feel embarrassed 😂 I knew her from Gravity and She Used To Be Mine...oh and Love Song ofc teehee!
This song reminds me of my mom after she had a stroke she started all over without a voice an legs to walk I left my gf I left my job an sold my car to take care of her I was there for ten yrs docs said shell never walk or move her right leg again it took me nearly 4 yrs of physical therapy but she did it! She could life her leg at will it was one of the proudest days of my entire life I held her hand as she passed this song brings me to tears
Nick H we are human beings we have a gift of being able to communicate by language as evolution has allowed us to evolve into thinking communicating beings there is no need for violence . When and only when that ability breaks down is there a need for action. . Personally I'm a peace lover... So many, myself included have been afraid to speak up against those that should know better. ..
dedicated my dad who i love very much..doesnt speak his mind and seems to be stuck in life...i hope one day he can speak out about how he truly feels and get out of his rut
How lucky he is to have an angel like you who feels and cares and appreciates him even when he is hidden! Sweetie, maybe you could build up the courage and encourage him to take that first step towards happiness, no matter how small. I know it's not easy, but success comes in baby steps, and every step keeps you moving forward.
+Gao Li Well yeah, guys are supposed to be stronger and less emotional not true tho. But a lot of males myself included feel a difficulty in expressing their emotions to others
Love this lady!! Having exited a toxic, gas lighting 24/7 relationship spanning 37 years… this songs words truly lift my spirits and give me hope!!💪🏻❤🙏🏻
@Jane-Ann Davies You are indeed Brave! It is an amazing milestone! If you can do this, you can do ANYTHING. When you are feeling low at the end of a day, come back here and be reminded again. You are amazing. You can have the life you want, and you deserve every happiness. Peace be to you, and Happy 2023.
the kinda song that just instantly improves your spirit. Sara has always been underrated but her talent is outta this world, always singing from her heart.
They probably are .. I sometimes just “ let go “ … people think I am crazy .. I probably am … guess what … people may laugh at you in public ) then they come to you and say they wish they could just “have fun” nothing crazy just be like “children “ … I say to them .. of course you can once you realise that there is nothing stopping you .. except you ..
That part is also my favorite. I am an English student. I speak Spanish and I am learning the English language. I looked for the translation into my language.
I used to be a really, really shy kid so my dad would make me listen to this song a lot in hopes that I’d stop being so shy and be brave. Years later, still a bit shy but definitely not as much. Nostalgia
I was a shy kid too, this wasn't the song I went to to help me with my shyness but I used to listen and sing "Read all about it" to help me build Up the courage to speak Up
Not used to seeing just ordinary-looking people dancing around in a music video (one of them could've been me, I guess(?)), but it's a refreshing change of pace I'll say that! 🙂
I just went home exhausted from work when this song was released, it came with a lyric video and best believe it was the hardest I've cried as an adult at that time. That day, I decided to stan her forever.
Both my mom and uncle had Covid. My uncle had it so severe the doctors didn't think he was going to live. And my mom had it mild but it was still pretty bad. My uncle and mom both survived but it was a very hard time for my whole family. Especially me, my dad, and my 2 brothers 1 whom has autism and barley understood the situation. He'd ask for my mom everyday and all I could tell him was mama wasn't home. It hurt saying that bit there was no other way for me to tell it to him. She was in hospital for a few weeks and my uncle was in hospital for a few months, both seemed like years. We cried every single night. I got to a point of depression I just stopped eating and drinking and all I could do was cry. It got to the point my dad threatened that if I didn't eat or drink anything he was going to call my grandmother and she would've told my mom so I had to force myself to eat and drink, even though it was only a few bites a day and I drank 2 bottles of water or juice a day. I'd literally only be able to eat 2 containers of Jell-O and that's it. We do this thing with my autistic brother before bed where he says everybody's names and when he'll see them the next day, wether it be in the morning or after work. My mom is a stay home mom so he is used to being with or around her most of the day. All he would do is say our names then ask for my mom and all I could tell him, as I've said, is mama isn't home and he'd look at me like he really missed her, which we all did. My mom came home Easter morning. We didn't think she'd be home by Easter so we thought we weren't going to have 1 last year. But my grandmother posted a thing on FaceBook to raise awareness and we got 12 big baskets filled to the rims of each 1 with stuff and candy from other parts of the family, friends, friends of people in my family, and friends of friends. And when my autistic brother came downstairs and saw her walk in the door, he looked at her, smiled, and said excitedly "Hi buddy!'. My mom always calls him her buddy. My uncle came home a few weeks after. It's still a very hard time for me and my family to think about and I do still cry every once in a while when I do, but sometimes I like to look back at those things and think to myself "Damn I'm a strong willed girl. I've pulled through a lot of shit.". Which is true and I still am, I've had a bunch of health complications my whole life that are only getting worse as the weeks go, from chest pains to being anemic, etc. I've been going under a lot of doctors appointments my whole like and we are continuing our quest and my journey to finding out what things are wrong, why these all these things are happening, and what needs to be done. My mom posts updates on my situations and friends, family, my boyfriend, and even people me and my mom don't even know at all have wished me well and hope I get well. And my friends, family, my boyfriend, and those people me and my mom don't know have been by my side, some just emotionally and some both emotionally and physically, every single step of the way. It's been a very long and wild ride for all of us, especially me, but I know I'm not alone and there will always be someone, anyone, there I can talk to face to face or even over the phone or through text messages if I need to because they love me and care about me and I will always understand there are people going through a hell of a lot worse things than I can even imagine and that's saying something there. This song is 1 of the few things other than the people that love and care about me that encourage me to keep pushing through and always be even at least a little bit brave, even if you're going through shit and are really scared. Which I ain't gonna lie, I was scared when my mom and uncle had Covid and I sure as hell am scared now with all the shit I'm dealing with now. But in the end, even though I'm very stressed and emotional, all that stress and emotional will be worth it in the end because I know they aren't going to stop until they find out what my problems are and a way to resolve them. All the doctors I've ever went to because of these issues have told me that a lot so yes, I'm still scared, stressed, tired because of my problems plus the fact I have ADHD and Insomnia on top of all these other problems, and emotional but it did put me at ease a little. I was brave then and all these years of going through this shit with my health and even though I'm still going through all this shit, I can be and will continue to be brave no matter how much longer I have to keep it up for.
Be brave? Yes! Be careless? Not a good idea. This virus has killed a lot of people so far. However, I'm with you to not use more protective gear than you need to. Those in the medical sectors and funeral services also need them and we're running out! Please remember that stockpiling anything selfishly benefits one at the risk of others who really need them NOW.
A whole, beautiful, song to explain the phrase: "I wanna see you be braving" or "I wanna see you brave it". She sort of put them together to emphasize courage while talking of coming forth to achieve clarity. It's beautiful really. She hasn't gotten enough credit lately, she deserves another spotlight. It's long overdue :)
Around 10 years ago I was so depressed I spent most of my time in bed and only got out of my bed once a day to shower, cook something, and eat. I used to listen to this song maybe 20-30 times per day on a loop and I honestly feel like it was the one thing that kept my sanity and enabled me to atleast get out of bed once a day and eat something once a day.
I sang this to my kids when they were younger. Before they would ride the bus to school. They were afraid to ride it. Due to bullies and just being kiddos. So before the bus came. I'd play this and sing it to them. They are adults now. And still talk about how this song gave them courage. ( just wanted to share this) 🥰
I'm currently in 8th grade rn in late 2024. This song is really beautiful and nostalgic for me because in elementary school my teachers would play music like this. Love it lol ❤
I’ve watched this video and listened to this song so many times I can’t count. EVERY TIME, it fills me with hope. I have a voice, you have a voice, we all have a voice - and we can be brave.
And here were are a decade later and still continuing to fight the fight for it, sadly. But as Miss Bareilles put so well, now is the time to "show how big our Brave is..." We all empower each other to let that light that is within us to shine forth and expel the darkness from the world. "Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness That most frightens us. We ask ourselves Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small Does not serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking So that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, As children do. We were born to make manifest The glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; It's in everyone. *And as we let our own light shine, We unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we're liberated from our own fear, Our presence automatically liberates others.*" --Marianne Williamson "*It doesn't interest me who you are, how you came to be here. I want to know if you will stand In the center of the fire with me And not shrink back.*" --Oriah Mountain Dreamer
@@charlespendleton551 gay marriage was legalized in the us in June 26 2015 but this song was released in April 2013 and the video in May 2013 so i am confused on how what you are saying is true? did Bareillas say that's why she did it? i don't see the "political correlation" just a video of people dancing and having fun! a lot of the comment share their brave moments too but yeah never heard of Bareilles song being specifically released for the reason you mentioned.
I deal with manic depression. And sometimes it can be absolutely debilitating and incapacitating. Some days I don’t even wanna get out of bed. And when I hear this song it reminds me that it’s ok to not be ok. To not be so afraid of being yourself. Because so many people hide who they are due to societal standards and this song reminds me it’s ok to be different too
Sometimes I think that people think I'm sad or lonely because I'm introverted. I love my life. I just HATE talking to people. It's not like talking to people is scary or anything, it's just very tiring for some reason, literally like I've just run a mile. I'm happy with my small group of close friends and that's all the socializing I need.
Eric Weston I can identify completely. I am at ease doing lectures in front of a whole auditorium, but in general I also avoid people, because it drains me. I can go for weeks without a social. Just give me a bed and a book and I'm content. We aren't antisocial, just selective in our socializing:)
Eric Weston I can relate,I refuse to go any get together where I have to communicate with a lot of people,I need to prepare myself, convince myself even to go to the new computer class I joined, urgh I am just too lazy to write all the problems I faced and still face due to my shyness and introvertism..but I think I am slowly getting better at communicating, because I am going to attend the teachers day program ,which I wd most definitely skip if it was 2 yrs ago,not participating tho,my severe glossophobia won't let me do that!😂 But one thing that helped me whenever I hesitate or feel shy to do anything is.. *what's the worst that wd happen if I do this?* Don't know about others but this made me do things that I normally shy out from!
I can totally relate to what you are saying. But i dont think the message of this song is for us (introverts) to be more social. I think it's more about motivating people to be their true selves or do what they want to do and not to fear it or fear what others may think or say. And I think it can apply to many situations, e.g. coming out of the closet, or standing up to a bully, or living your passion, or whatever... be brave
As a 27 year old who feels lost in her path, I just want to thank Sara Bareilles for this amazing song. I hope I finally get the courage to face my fears.
Emma Viola exactly its not about anything bad its inspiration be brave!say what you wanna be seen brave its a good song and its one of my favorite songs and bruno mars today my life begins i also like the song by lorde Team
Well I'm new to this song.... BUT when I first time listening this song I start to love this song!!!💖💖💖 ...And I'm crying everytime I listening to this song...
I have a friend who is discouraged, this song is really inspiring to her. After hearing this song she has been more social. I personally think this song is away to show people who feel alone, and wrong that their not the only ones.
I'd say your words to my husband of 30 years but he wouldn't hear me. He wants to do counseling - again - like the 10+ other times helped. NOT! We just need to get a divorce and move on. We've already wasted 30 years. I don't want to waste any more. It's over. It's BEEN over. I don't even care anymore.
This song. Damn. So many people are able to do amazing things but don't say or do them because of thefear of what people will say or do. This is an incredible message and the video... Damn I can't stop playing either the video or the song. It's VERY catchy.
I love how in this video there are actual REAL people dancing, not glitzy, perfect background dancers. This video is just so awesome, I love how happy everyone is =D
Bluespirit12345 Basically, the video and the song is saying you shouldn't be afraid. In the video the people are dancing alone out in public. Something not many people would even consider because they would be afraid of embarrassment or being judged. Overall, you shouldn't care what other people say about you or think about you and you shouldn't be afraid to be yourself or be afraid to do whatever you want that makes you happy. Understand? :D
I remember listening to this song the year it first came out. I was in music class and the teacher put it on for us. Sometimes I’ll just randomly remember that this song exists. It’s been 8 years and this song is still as amazing as the first time I heard it.
The weird thing about the modern world is how older videos are starting to look brand new. Literally looks like it was just filmed, but it's nearly a decade old.
Because we all deny a part of ourselves to be accepted by society and not seen as insane. None of us want to be cast out by our social circles and fear the repercussions of tapping into ourselves and what we really want to do while in public. We want to openly be ourselves. For example the people dancing in this video, many of those people were not dancing at a professional level and humans are quick to make toxic remarks and put an individual's imperfections that they are already sensitive about on display and blow them out of proportion to get a laugh from others while tearing you to pieces in the process. We fear the social rejection that comes from others and choose to shut down and cut ourselves off from what makes us truly happy out of fear instead of trying to better ourselves. Because by trying to better ourselves we risk being seen and having word or videos spread of us doing things that make us happy. Like singing or dancing poorly. No one is born a great singer and no one is born a great dancer but these two things are what define us as humans. All across the world every group of humans have ancestors who sang and danced. At our core it is what makes us human. We all unconsciously know that music is a part of us even if it isn't the most important thing to you. Maybe your thing is egaming, or writing, or any other number of things that you are too afraid to out on display yourself for fear of cruel comments. The reason that this song hits everyone so hard is because we all have something that we love that we feel isn't good enough to share with the world so we never do. And that is why this song hits us so hard because we want to be great, we want to put ourselves out there so we can actively better ourselves. And we shouldn't allow the bitter hearts to dictate what we do in our free time.
Same! I started tearing up when nobody at the gym didn't join the guy in the red shirt. Also because I feel like I could never do something as brave as this.
My 4 year old daughter did a voice search for "Brave" and this song popped up - she pressed play - looked me dead in the face and said "better mommy! - this is after I told her I was scared to go to the kitchen by myself and make coffee. Love this Sara! Thank you for the music
This song is beautiful, yet painful to me, I want to speak up, to let the words fall out, but i have fear of how others will react when speaking in person i'm afraid that what i say will come out wrong, i fear my own mind... i have no problem with my actions, it's my words that i have trouble using, with actions, you can apologize and often say you didnt mean it, and people will act like it didnt happen. but words, words stick, you have control of you vocals and you cant accidentally say something that would embarass yourself, once your words are out, they're out and done... they're permenant, that terrifies me
The Redstoner Hey there, You are not alone. For most of my life i had the exact same thoughts until. I started following a new motto in life. LIFE IS ALWAYS BETTER, WHEN YOU DON'T GIVE A DAMN (i know its pretty straightforward). Do not care what anyone else says, just let it out. I agree words cannot be undone, but they can be fixed, forgiven and forgotten. Just as the song states, you have to let it go, don't care about others and do what makes you happy(and be brave)! HAVE A GREAT DAY, AND A GREAT LIFE.
You can be amazing You can turn a phrase into a weapon or a drug You can be the outcast Or be the backlash of somebody's lack of love Or you can start speaking up Nothing's gonna hurt you the way that words do And they settle 'neath your skin Kept on the inside and no sunlight Sometimes a shadow wins But I wonder what would happen if you Say what you wanna say And let the words fall out Honestly I wanna see you be brave With what you want to say And let the words fall out Honestly I wanna see you be brave I just wanna see you I just wanna see you I just wanna see you I wanna see you be brave I just wanna see you I just wanna see you I just wanna see you I wanna see you be brave Everybody's been there, everybody's been stared down By the enemy Fallen for the fear and done some disappearing Bow down to the mighty Don't run, stop holding your tongue Maybe there's a way out of the cage where you live Maybe one of these days you can let the light in Show me how big your brave is Say what you wanna say And let the words fall out Honestly I wanna see you be brave With what you want to say And let the words fall out Honestly I wanna see you be brave Innocence, your history of silence Won't do you any good Did you think it would? Ive heard this time and time again, but today, as I'm finally feeling ready to share my voice with the world, the lyric "Let the words fall out" rang in my mind. Listening back, it's as if for the first time. Music can heal, activate, and inspire. Thank you, Sara, for your bravery. I will be brave in living my life so that dancing, smiling, and expressing in public becomes normal and everyone feels safe doing so. Helping those who were taught to repress, to express and feel again. Starting with me.
My brother died by suicide last year and this song always makes me think of his battle with depression. I wanted to see him be brave, but it reminds me now that I have to be brave without him here.
Hey Sara! I’m a ten year old girl! And I want to tell u something! When I was in third grade I had a very nice principal at my school and ALL the teachers in the school wanted to sing “brave” to my principal! So we all gathered up and sang it to my principal it was awesome! She ended up crying of happy tears and it melted my heart lol. But I just wanted to say thank you making this song it’s a great song and Il keep it in my memory until I die!!
I do that too sometimes, and for the same reason you did. I totally relate to your conclusion. Unfortunately, all too often what I experience is the most bratty, stuck up, small minded, humorless, presumptuous, judgmental, p!ss poor excuses for human beings ever. It’s like the same people who spout this whole “Be yourself” “Speak your truth” meme via inspirational quotes on social media, t shirts etc. react very poorly when they see their own advice applied in the real world. I encourage anyone who knows first hand what I’m talking about to go out and genuinely express their authentic self zero eff’s given at least once every couple weeks. The sharp tongue lashings and emotional blows will toughen you mentally so that you can respond more and more proactively every next time it happens. These pompous clowns deserve to have their own hypocrisy rubbed in their face much more often. If you’ve never done this before, there’s a decent chance you’ll be paralyzed with fear in the beginning. So start by approaching one person and say something along the lines of, “What’s up, you having a good time?” Then gradually build from there.

How can an underrated singer be nominated for a Grammy?
Gideon Hardin Scott
What? That’s so rude. Don’t assume gods colour. He/she might he different from that. I don’t god would like to offend people. God is god and he/she is amazing.

This is massive nostalgia for me because my old elementary school music teacher would make us listen to these kind of songs

Sameeee!!! I had to sing this song for a concert in elementary school
Sams especially because my music teacher knew the music teacher who taught Sara (I live in Humboldt county where she grew up)

This woman is Totally Underrated as a Singer!!!
@@PlomostriumGrastipulum you're talking about Bitches. Women are strong enough to take the truth
@@PlomostriumGrastipulum wait ... Whatttttt

Brave
Sara Bareilles
You can be amazing
You can turn a phrase into a weapon or a drug
You can be the outcast
Or be the backlash of somebody's lack of love
Or you can start speaking up
Nothing's gonna hurt you the way that words do
When they settle 'neath your skin
Kept on the inside and no sunlight
Sometimes a shadow wins
But I wonder what would happen if you
Say what you wanna say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave
With what you want to say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I wanna see you be brave
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I wanna see you be brave
Everybody's been there, everybody's been stared down
By the enemy
Fallen for the fear and done some disappearing
Bow down to the mighty
But don't run, stop holding your tongue
Maybe there's a way out of the cage where you live
Maybe one of these days you can let the light in
Show me how big your brave is
Say what you wanna say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave
With what you want to say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave
Innocence, your history of silence
Won't do you any good
Did you think it would?
Let your words be anything but empty
Why don't you tell them the truth?
Say what you wanna say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave
With what you want to say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I wanna see you be brave
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
See you be brave
I just wanna see you

Sara Bareilles is so underrated it hurts. Seems like majority of people only knows her because of Love Song and Brave. I hope they also take time to dive into her other music as well--she has a new album called More Love and it's absolutely fantastic! Please spread the word :)
I admittedly dont know many of her songs, but orpheus is definitely my favourite

When and only when that ability breaks down is there a need for action. . Personally I'm a peace lover... Who else was biting back tears as all the memories came flooding back
I just went home exhausted from work when this song was released, it came with a lyric video and best believe it was the hardest I've cried as an adult at that time. That day, I decided to stan her forever.
Me
Both my mom and uncle had Covid.
@@mangagirlyt1076 you inspire me thanks for sharing!!🤗🤗🤗

It's long overdue :)

Around 10 years ago I was so depressed I spent most of my time in bed and only got out of my bed once a day to shower, cook something, and eat. I used to listen to this song maybe 20-30 times per day on a loop and I honestly feel like it was the one thing that kept my sanity and enabled me to atleast get out of bed once a day and eat something once a day.
I sang this to my kids when they were younger. Before they would ride the bus to school. They were afraid to ride it. Due to bullies and just being kiddos. So before the bus came. One of the most underrated artists. Sad that people will consider this political when this is about equality and having self confidence in yourself.
And here were are a decade later and still continuing to fight the fight for it, sadly.
But as Miss Bareilles put so well, now is the time to "show how big our Brave is..."
We all empower each other to let that light that is within us to shine forth and expel the darkness from the world.
"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness
That most frightens us.
We ask ourselves
Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.
Your playing small
Does not serve the world.
There's nothing enlightened about shrinking
So that other people won't feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine,
As children do.
We were born to make manifest
The glory of God that is within us.
It's not just in some of us;
It's in everyone.
*And as we let our own light shine,
We unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we're liberated from our own fear,
Our presence automatically liberates others.*"
--Marianne Williamson
"*It doesn't interest me who you are, how you came to be here.
I want to know if you will stand
In the center of the fire with me
And not shrink back.*"
--Oriah Mountain Dreamer

Eric Weston I can relate,I refuse to go any get together where I have to communicate with a lot of people,I need to prepare myself, convince myself even to go to the new computer class I joined, urgh I am just too lazy to write all the problems I faced and still face due to my shyness and introvertism..but I think I am slowly getting better at communicating, because I am going to attend the teachers day program ,which I wd most definitely skip if it was 2 yrs ago,not participating tho,my severe glossophobia won't let me do that!😂
But one thing that helped me whenever I hesitate or feel shy to do anything is..
And I think it can apply to many situations, e.g. coming out of the closet, or standing up to a bully, or living your passion, or whatever... be brave
Haha yeah I totally agree

As a 27 year old who feels lost in her path, I just want to thank Sara Bareilles for this amazing song. I hope I finally get the courage to face my fears.
This song is saying don’t care what people think and speak up for what you think is right
woah i love miraculous
You think?
I love this song and the video! It's very inspirational! It's one of very few songs that doesn't have to be about butts.
I'm hoping this is taken as a compliment. ☺

I was looking for this comment!!! Back when this was a new song, my family and I would laugh at "Maybe he took the wrong pill" :D
I cried watching this because I watched it when I was younger and use to sing to it and it bring back so many memories
SAME
Well I'm new to this song.... BUT when I first time listening this song I start to love this song!!!💖💖💖
...And I'm crying everytime I listening to this song...
Everyone should start the day with this song.
Thats what I'm gunna do
I do tho, I listen to this everyday
In my Kindergarten class, my teacher had cancer. Everyday she would play this song. She was strong and beat it! This song always reminds me of her ❤️
What a touching story, God Bless & I hope you’re doing well ❤️
How do you know this? Do you follow her on Facebook or something?
Kendrick Mott she had cancer while she taught us. She talked about it a lot, and she lost her hair
I hope teacher does well
I sing this out loud for my younger self….she became brave eventually
I just love how everyone are dancing carelessly and don't care if people are looking at them strangely.
Safa Elmi I dare you to do it... Honestly, I wanna' see you be brave.
I don't even care anymore.
... The backlash of somebody's lack of love: the child who is not embraced by The Village will burn it down to feel its warmth.... African proverb

And when they do don't blame them
Wow
This song.
But dey are so glitzy and perfect!
Well, I mean by society's standards nowadays. =) Heck, there's even an elderly woman as a background dancer, and that's awesome! =D
But she so hawt and glitzy like everybody in ze video.
I really don't get the point of the video. It doesn't match the message of the video.
Understand? :D
Who else is listing to this to keep themselves in good spirits and keeping them in a right mind set to not get brought down by the news of the virus
Definitely. Sara Bareilles also got tested positive for COVID-19 :(
Ammi Teir she recovered
Im not. Im watching this because I realized she sung "She Used to be Mine" From the Waitress
You are angel. This song always brings me back from the darkness.
Awww😭☺️😉🙂
I loved her as a younger kid! She looks identical to my cousin. I still love her.
Literally looks like it was just filmed, but it's nearly a decade old.
ikr🥲🥲
i have never heard this song untill now... but it speaks to me in perfect timing... 🎲♥️♠️🍀♾🎉🎉🎉🕊

Hey, if you're reading this, just know that if something good makes you cry then you have a beautiful heart.
Same! I started tearing up when nobody at the gym didn't join the guy in the red shirt. Also because I feel like I could never do something as brave as this.
Cuz ur girl
@@twilightfox014 you are right, until we be brave
My 4 year old daughter did a voice search for "Brave" and this song popped up - she pressed play - looked me dead in the face and said "better mommy! - this is after I told her I was scared to go to the kitchen by myself and make coffee.
Love this Sara! Thank you for the music
That's amazing!! Thanks for sharing!
Ssswwweeetttt
XD
Why were you afraid to go to the kitchen by yourself to make coffee?
@@beckyelmore1094 I'm curious too.
A fabulous song; plus a sincere respectful shout out to the young lady in the bright pink blouse
This song is beautiful, yet painful to me,
I want to speak up, to let the words fall out,
but i have fear of how others will react when speaking in person
i'm afraid that what i say will come out wrong, i fear my own mind...
i have no problem with my actions, it's my words that i have trouble using,
with actions, you can apologize and often say you didnt mean it, and people will act like it didnt happen. but words, words stick, you have control of you vocals and you cant accidentally say something that would embarass yourself, once your words are out, they're out and done... they're permenant, that terrifies me
You are not alone
Same
The Redstoner Send them a txt
it's not quite the same, it doesnt have the same power or meaning,
The Redstoner Hey there,
You are not alone.
You can be amazing
You can turn a phrase into a weapon or a drug
You can be the outcast
Or be the backlash of somebody's lack of love
Or you can start speaking up
Nothing's gonna hurt you the way that words do
And they settle 'neath your skin
Kept on the inside and no sunlight
Sometimes a shadow wins
But I wonder what would happen if you
Say what you wanna say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave
With what you want to say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I wanna see you be brave
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I wanna see you be brave
Everybody's been there, everybody's been stared down
By the enemy
Fallen for the fear and done some disappearing
Bow down to the mighty
Don't run, stop holding your tongue
Maybe there's a way out of the cage where you live
Maybe one of these days you can let the light in
Show me how big your brave is
Say what you wanna say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave
With what you want to say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave
Innocence, your history of silence
Won't do you any good
Did you think it would?
Let your words be anything but empty
Why don't you tell them the truth?
Say what you wanna say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave
With what you want to say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I wanna see you be brave
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
See you be brave
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
I just wanna see you
this is my graduation batch 2014-2015 i miss this song and i remembered to all my classmate that more memories in high school life

Amiee Board you just copied from the lyrics in the description 😂
Rosey Girl and added more
One of my absolute favorite ”lift me up” songs!! I play it for my daughter on the way to school in the morning! Awesome spirit!
This should be as popular as Roar!
I heard this on the radio and I thought it was Roar, buts it better :D
i agree
Yes... Yes it should
My brother died by suicide last year and this song always makes me think of his battle with depression. I wanted to see him be brave, but it reminds me now that I have to be brave without him here.
I’m so sorry for your loss hope he flys high💔
I am so sorry for your loss.
I'm so sorry, he's in a place where he'll love himself and will be so happy.
sorry if you are not a believer. I can't really tell.
💙
I'm so sorry for your loss
I actually did this in a mall just to see how many people would judge because I'm confident and feeling myself. Seriously too many people
Feeling yourself in the mall? That was brave!
I live in like the most judgemental country so i don't it's a good idea here
So i don't think*
What you thought was them judging was really them hating themselves that they couldn't find themselves like you did. Trust me I've been on both sides.
