    The title hints at the fact that learning a language requires more than learning how to speak in a way that the person of the other language understands you, and being able to understand them; which are great achievements in themselves. It also involves getting to know the customs, accepted norms of said culture;
    In my experience (I only learned one other language), being able to communicate to others in a language you learned elicits such a sense of pride; but, when you start to be able to communicate with those people around their cultural beliefs and customs; that's euphoria; you started out learning their language, and you end up feeling like you are actually 'part' of their world, and to your delight, you start seeing things that you were probably blind to before. And that opens you up to a lot of relationships that might have been slightly out of your reach before. It 's like you suddenly acquired a new superpower;

      It just sucks that a lot of cultures, and specifically Asian ones, are adverse to fully accepting foreigners. Places like Japan and Korea are notorious for it. You could be a resident of Japan for 30+ years and literally have a job studying Japanese history and culture, and it doesn't matter. You will always be an outsider, a foreigner.
      This is my bias as an American, because we pretty much don't care where you come from here. If you can speak our language competently and can hangout with us without being awkward, you're American. As long as you're not a supremacist about your home country, we'll gladly claim you as one of our own.
      I wish more countries were like this. It's just so disheartening to travel and always be looked at like some kind of animal in a zoo. Like people go out of their way to make sure you know you don't belong. You can visit and spend your money, but you can't stay.

    How epic to see you collab with Jesse. Both language powerhouse in your own right. Hope to see more future collabs. The fishy eye lens, however, is a bit trippy n distracting. Better with regular videoing. Thx.

    I always watch these videos with my partner from Jinan. We find them very entertaining watching the aunties and uncles talking with you. It's good to show respect to your elders no matter what culture they are from.

    I keep coming back to this particular video once in the while to get a good laugh mainly for 3 things:
    1. The way Jesse says “Pu’er”
    2. That king-fu dance 🕺🏻
    3. Old guys saying you’ll get drunk and sleep in the middle of the day by drinking tea 😂

    You should try learning Finnish. I imagine it'll be difficult to find Finnish speaking people in New York but there's a Finnish minority in Michigan's Upper Peninsula if you're able to go there. Or you can get in contact with a TV channel and do what you did with Norwegian.
