That's why Baha'i teachings state that there should be two languages people know: an international auxiliary language and their native tongue. Language is the most unifying element of a culture.
Honestly people’s reactions are so cute. I know the feeling of flattery when someone has taken the time and care to learn your native tongue properly. I can only imagine the pride these people feel. Especially with such a linguistically complex jump from English to any Chinese dialect.
Chelsea Patrick I guess because I’m from South Florida that maybe I’ve been hardened to people learning proper English because I don’t really feel anything but glad they’re trying so others don’t have to deal with it. But Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese) truly seems like a feat..
Chris Rolls lol honestly English wasn’t really included in my sentiment. It’s such a widely spoken and easy to learn language that it’s sort of a default for most countries.
BrandonJustPlays Δ I’ve never really attempted to learn it myself, but I know people who have been speaking it their whole lives and still won’t claim that they know all of it. It’s a very extensive language, especially in written form.
Honestly the best prank would be asking questions to people in English, but then translating the answers to your friends in Mandarin. That would really throw people for a loop
@@kirklurkpu4470 i commented that before i watched the video and did not realize that someone was indeed speaking Spanish in the vid lol. Is trabaho a Tagalog word?
Brittany Holtgreven If you're looking for a concrete reason, that is because Spain colonized the Philippines for exactly 333 years. 35% of our vocabulary came from spanish words, like for example, to say chair, we Filipinos say, "silya" we basically changed the spelling to how it is pronounced, meanwhile, the original spelling is "silla" from the spanish roots. But no, not everything is just spanish and Filipino words, what makes Tagalog interesting is that it has mixes of Chinese, Bahasa Indonesia, and other countries that are enclose in South East Asia.
@Loonatick lol "racist against white people" You understand that language isn't limited to skin color right? You're aware of the entire continent of Europe?
I mean English is the language of the US. Like it's weird to not be able to speak Chinese in China, same in English speaking countries. Should at the least be fluent in the language of the country you are in.
Comrade Stalin I think he’s directly responding to the rude comment. There are plenty of residents in the US that are there for years and never learn rudimentary English. You find that most who visit for vacation or tourism purposes, often make attempt to learn the language at least to a basic level. Nobody wants to stand out as a tourist nor, be dependent on others to do basic things.
TheTaterTotP80 yeah but we should not be pretending it were the same thing to learn English or to learn Chinese. Chinese even for people with a talent for languages is HARDER than English. The different vowels and sounds take a lot of effort and talent to perfect. English is one of the easier languages to pick up. So - someone working in China I get it that a lot of them give up on Chinese. It s a really challenging language !
TheTaterTotP80 you’re right bro but how things are going Spanish will be the dominant language in the US. Give it a few more years.. if you go to Miami and don’t know Spanish you’re stuck. I took my American girl to Miami and she was in shock and no one really spoke English. I agree though if you live here learn the native language.
This never gets old! I love the expressions you get everytime....Keep this up, and I'm gonna have to learn Mandarin myself, to give them a DOUBLE surprise!
I failed languages miserably at school and don't go abroad for holidays that often. I do enjoy watching these videos and like seeing the smiles it puts on people's faces.
Find an immigrant community by you. Talking to people really helps as much as if not more than school. I think you'll also find that you don't need to be that good to start using it in public. At first, you're kind of playing this game of charades with others but your brain quickly notices the patterns and you can at least develop a very basic understanding of what's being said. Then, some sort of formal training (even as simply as Duolingo) will push you to be more conversational. It's a very big commitment but is SO worth it in my opinion.
I had a friend who needed to learn a language for her anthropology degree. She tried Spanish (she's from the US, btw) and failed miserably. She's very bright, but she had no luck with a Romance language so I recommended something totally "other". She took an intro Chinese course and wound up going through four quarters of the language study at OSU, aced it, and even got into the calligraphy. I helped her with vocab cards back then, still remember a few words and phrases.
Learning languages is only really hard going from first to second language because your brain is used to thinking in the syntax of your mother language, however once you pass that level the 3rs an so forth are easier because your brain already got used to the "weirdness". Also the best language to learn is one you find confortable, something you'll find yourself seeing a lot in your day to day.
It's because Americans believe the world revolves around us. If a genie were to grant me 3 wishes my first would be to be able to speak EVERY single language, dialect, sub-dialect, etc. known to mankind like I were a native.
@@veryeasilydistracted4966 No. ethnocentric perspectives are hardly a hallmark of Americans, though that seems to be the current self deprecating narrative. You can go to China, but no matter how hard you try, no one will accept you as Chinese. You can go to America and you will be accepted as American regardless of your race. Try to do that in Italy, Spain, France, or even Sweden. You will fail.

This is weird but your videos make me cry sometimes. To see people’s reactions and their joy literally makes my heart melt. You are the best ever.
Same!
Chelsea Patrick Wait, is it hard to be taught Chinese even as a toddler?
BrandonJustPlays Δ I’ve never really attempted to learn it myself, but I know people who have been speaking it their whole lives and still won’t claim that they know all of it. It’s a very extensive language, especially in written form.
Chelsea Patrick yeah it seems extremely difficult
That Chinese lady spoke spanish to them AND was already the only one around wearing a mask almost the moment 2020 hit.
It's pretty common in China to wear masks. They have been wearing masks since age
Honestly the best prank would be asking questions to people in English, but then translating the answers to your friends in Mandarin. That would really throw people for a loop
He did this. "That guy just told me it was over that way".
the way he said “Trabajo” , super confused had be DEAD
Wait but that's also a Spanish word
Brittany Holtgreven 🤦♂️ omg thats why, the lady thought they were Spanish so she spoke Spanish at first
Yes, it means "work", here in the philippines, it's spelled out as "trabaho"
Man they look sooo happy when they realize they can speak their language.
@Loonatick lol "racist against white people"
You understand that language isn't limited to skin color right? You're aware of the entire continent of Europe?
I just melt when a foreigner in my country is speaking my language to me, even if it's broken. Gold star for trying
@Loonatick lol someone's salty they made a fool of themselves
Jesus come back to check the likes and see WW3 is happening in the comments lmao 😂
Loonatick Loonatick the hermaphrodite
The reactions in these videos were awesome. I love how like a crowd formed this was great
My lady is a hustler she learning all languages even Spanish just for business, meanwhile Americans get mad when you don't speak English in America 😂😂
I mean English is the language of the US. Like it's weird to not be able to speak Chinese in China, same in English speaking countries. Should at the least be fluent in the language of the country you are in.
@@TheTaterTotP80 If you're going on holiday, obviously you can't be fluent at the language. Only a few basic phrases.
One of the best so far. Love the interaction of the three of y'all.
yeah the vids with Xiaoma solo are great but it adds a whole different dimension to have 3 of them out there ,.. mind. blown... so amazing.
You're gonna have to go to china soon dude, everyone in chinatown is already starting to know you 😂
He should come to Canada China town. Toronto and Vancouver

Absolutely love how language can bring different communities together!
The people seem so nice and really amazed that you took the time to learn their language and know it so well. Very impressed myself guys. Good job..

5:55 She speaks Spanish, now he is the one who doesn't understand 🤣🤣🤣
Ya ni supo que responder, lo mejor
de hecho no estaría soprendido si esa sea la razón que aprendió español más tarde jajaja
Now this is what I call an entertaining prank, when both parties laugh at the end. Very nice👍
This is a perfect example of how we are all naturally bound to each other. All the hate & divide in the world is completely unnecessary & engineered.
Say it to Donald Trump, he is the one who keep spreading hatred around the world
jss w no he’s not, he’s not even racist u fool
The Freddy appy Shoou lmaoooo
Teo he fuckin is a racist see how he did to the Mexicans n immigrants. And ppl who voted for him are fuckin idiots too
the channel name uses communists chinese writing. this kind of promote the communist agenda.
I failed languages miserably at school and don't go abroad for holidays that often. I do enjoy watching these videos and like seeing the smiles it puts on people's faces.
there's always time!
I love the part where the 3 of them starting arguing in Chinese and Chinese people around were like WTF!
I can’t even get myself to learn Spanish in class or at home and these guys are going to live in Beijing to learn Mandarin Chinese...
Try Duolingo
It's not that hard if you practice and try to speak the language with friends that know the language. Bueno suerte a su futuro de lenguajes..... :)
I helped her with vocab cards back then, still remember a few words and phrases.
gunfuego I thought languages in Spanish was “idiomas”
Learning languages is only really hard going from first to second language because your brain is used to thinking in the syntax of your mother language, however once you pass that level the 3rs an so forth are easier because your brain already got used to the "weirdness".
Also the best language to learn is one you find confortable, something you'll find yourself seeing a lot in your day to day.
The algorithm wants us to learn mandarin, apparently. Someone get me out of this wormhole please
亻尔 逃 不 扌卓白勺
I might since my school has it but I'm taking French and I also want to take Japanese and Latin
Believe it or not it worked for me. I am learning Mandarin since I watched this video a month ago. Taking classes at an institute. Now I am scared.
They will shut off the power soon anyway.
Wuhan propaganda for the new Wu Tang Clan album.
It’s amazing how so many Asians can speak our languages but we rarely notice how impressive it is
It's because Americans believe the world revolves around us. If a genie were to grant me 3 wishes my first would be to be able to speak EVERY single language, dialect, sub-dialect, etc. known to mankind like I were a native.
@@veryeasilydistracted4966 as am American I can confirm, we are assholes
'Our languages'. You mean English..
@@veryeasilydistracted4966It clearly does considering your blaming Americans for the world speaking English, when it was the fucking Brits that colonized the world and expected everyone to speak English. People say the absolute stupidest shit as long as it makes America look bad
The Spanish-speaking lady is my favorite! hilarious 😂
I love seeing how happy they get when they find out that someone, not from their culture, took the time to learn their language 💙
1:59 girl be like: „I this a glitch in the matrix? Is this a threat? Fight or flight? 🤔😱🧐“
Yes! Truly

Their smiles are so wholesome, I am so endeared by them.
"Excuse me, does this have umm...Vitamin B12?"
lmao I almost died.
Glad you recovered...
Xiaoma's Mandarin has basically zero accent, that is amazing cause it is really hard for people who is not native speaker.
nah, it sounds pretty white
@@ametkemalidinov738 still white accent😂
Yu Ivan well everyone has an accent no matter how how they practice
Amazing how people open up when you start speaking their language. Good job guys, that's awesome!!!
Your man with the glasses saying "For real you speak Chinese?" 😂😂😂
I love this type of interaction! Not only are you putting smiles on their faces you’re buying their products. Great work guys and it’s very impressive too.
