I just scored this watch minty at a pawn shop for get this. 150USD out the door. Yes sirs. I’m a pilot and over the last 30 years this is my third citizen pilot watch. Love them.
I have the Titanium version that I gifted to my late dad back them. He loved it and was very proud of it letting everyone know his son bought it for him. When he passed away, I took it back as a remembrance of him and wore it as part of my watches rotation.
I am a Swiss with a lot of choices in watches around me. As a retired pilot I have been looking for a nice pilots watch to wear so I don't miss it too much😀😀. Thanks for your review. Nice closeup shots. I have ordered one and will be getting it any day now. You helped me in making my final choice👍. Keep up the good humor as it makes watching your channel fun. Great stuff
Fun fact: Citizen was founded by a Swiss national, Rodolphe Schmid to sell his Swiss watches in Japan. So it's Swiss/Japanese. This is Citizen's Swiss legacy and they are older than Seiko too 😉
I personally consider this watch THE BEST, overall. Get it in titanium and you have raised it to ULTIMATE. I also have a Skyhawk I bought early in the morning of 9/11 from a store in one of the towers. I wore it every day for 22 years. Absolutely no problems. The new version will be ticking a lot longer than I will.
I have a limited edition Skyhawk A/T from 6-7 years ago and you’re not kidding it’s the ultimate dad watch. 45mm of Titanium glory, my watch friend laughs at me but idc, it’s awesome. I fly for a living and I think it’s probably the most common watch I see.
My wife bought me this for Christmas! Being prior Navy it is fkn awesome! I just saw it, it was delivered today. I’m just getting a jump on what all I can do with it when I actually get it. Awesome video brother. New Sub.
Haha I don’t have the dad stuff but I’m a pilot and I’ve always loved the Blues ! My Wife bought me this and I love it. Also you can actually use some of the stuff on there as a E6B flight computer. Not easy to use but if you were in an airplane and all hell broke loose and your IPad ,avionics Garmin GPS with back up batteries , your vacuum for back up avionics and your radio all died ! Then you have a back up on your wrist ! 🫡 I use this thing to flight plan all the time. Of course I cant see shit for the next 8 hours because I’m cross eyed but it gives me time to practice my IFR Flying. I love this watch !
I have the Nighthawk Pilot. It was a gift and is my favorite watch. I've been thinking of ordering the Blue Angels model. I really like the face and look of the watch.I have a few other Citizens and they are great, dependable watches. Another outstanding video by the way. Thank you.
I have this exact same watch. I bought it a few years ago but I have it on a blue/yellow NATO strap to go along with the color scheme. Citizens are awesome!
Of all the watches that I own, expensive or cheap, my most favorite watch to wear is my Titanium Citizen Sky Hawk. This thing is accurate to the second, light and beautiful!
Thanks for this video, I was hoping to get something confirmed about it and you did! I have had a Citizen Eco-Drive for several years now and it's the most accurate watch I've ever owned and I've never had a seconds' trouble with it. I think I'm gonna pull the trigger on this Blue Angels watch, it's so precise and sleek.
This’ll compliment and with my dad bod nicely! Good looking watch! I agree that Citizen gets snuffed from conversations and deserve a spot, especially with that Eco-Drive tech which is the best in the business IMHO. Fully milled clasp and solid end links? Wow, Citizen went all out on this one.
I agree. I'm not saying they just designed this watch because I've seen Blue Angels around for 15+ years, but Casio just doesn't hold up to me. They will sell you a BIG watch, for less than Citizen, but they have been doing the same thing they've always done and focus on the G-Shocks when there are so many other brands at a similar price point.
@Matthew-wn8oq the way these work, you just pull the crown out one click and the second hand points at the city code you're in. Turn the crown to change time zones and it automatically adjusts. Still receives the time every night.
I have the black dial and bracelet version. Exact same caliber movement. I absolutely love it!!!! Spot on accuracy, and so many functions. Love Citizen watches!!!
Can I wear it with sandals and socks? Great looking piece and tons of features. The “do not open…” makes me want to crack open the caseback, though! Older Eco-Drives seem to get 12 to 15 years capacitor life…wonder if the newer ones live longer now?
I own the the Citizen Eco-Drive Men's AT4004-52E model. I still think it feels heavy on my wrist. Watch weight usually means high quality. If you want a very accurate watch.....get a radio controlled watch. Its very accurate down to the exact second. I would love to own the Blue Angels version as shown in this video. And keep your solar powered watch next to your window at home when not wearing it.
A super busy dial is not for dads with poor eyesight. A good dive watch with clear, legible dial, high luminosity so i can see it at night as i wear my watches to bed. And robust construction as old dads are clumsy is a must.
Great video! I have the older Blue Angels version, and while this is an awesome watch, I wouldn’t upgrade. I personally don’t like digital and analog clock. However, I am very pleased Citizen changed the band size from 23mm to 22mm and lume def is upgraded.
@@rockthewatch thanks for the detailed upload m8 ! quick question, does the blue outer dial rotate or is it fixed? thanks again for your reply, cheers !
I am a pilot, and when I left my first flying job to go to the airlines, the owner of the airplane I had been flying bought me this watch as a parting gift. It is not the fanciest most high end luxury timepiece, but it is the most useful watch a pilot could want to own. It’s one of the less expensive watches in my collection, but it gets the just about the most wrist time because of its functionality and sentimental value. Great watch for a working pilot.
Just bought it today. Love it. The only complaint is the case thickness & boxy look. I do understand it has a mechanism, the atomic receiver & resulting the thickness. But, that’s something I don’t like, the boxy look. Maybe it grows on me.
hi i have the same week me watch just bougt it recently i love it , it took me a week to adjust my watch to african time.ITS NOT A DAD WATCH MAN ITS FUTURERISTIC WATCH.
I kind of like the “dad’s watch” label. It fits and having two little girls myself, I can totally relate. It is ironic, but on the other hand, the best part of becoming a dad is that you go out and play again. So over the top, pointless little spaceships on your wrist are fun again. Nevertheless, I used to wear a similar watch, a Seiko Astron chrono, during my time as business consultant - think suits and airports lounges. Nowadays, my amusement park watch is a Royal Oak Offshore - also a ridiculous, childish design. What I do not like about this style of watches, is that any 100€ G-Shock outperforms it. And: Please never wear shorts with socks in Europe … or elsewhere in the civilised world.
I couldn't resist getting this watch although i prefer mechanical watches this was just too good to ignore. I wear this watch everyday evevnthough I'm not a dad :p
I am seriously contemplating buying this one. However, the white texts on the bezel worry me, because they are unprotected and exposed directly to the outside. Do you think those white texts will fade over time?
They probably will if kept in direct sunlight for extended periods of time. But if that is your biggest worry I would just get it and wear the heck out of it. The faded bezel would just add character. 🤠
I have the skyhawk blue angle I too dont know quite a lot of functions...pretty complicated.. Just to set the time all the hands keep wondering like mad..till couldn’t set the correct time..☹️
Nope. I'd buy him the newer model with no LED window - sapphire; atomic; Perfex feature package.; +/- 5 secs a month, not the discontinued model. After all, he's my dad.
Perhaps the reason citizen does not generate so much respect is that many people don't even know that citizen makes watches. For many years I only knew that citizen made computer printers. And as far as a dad watch feature, in addition to not knowing that citizen made watches, my Corvette ears ran between age 19 and 30 when I raced Corvettes in sports car racing all around the country. Watches weren't even part of my vocabulary back then except as a tool to measure lap times. And it didn't matter what brand it was.
I do like some Citizen watches (obviously Red Arrows edition > Blue Angels) ;) This one however is too large and too busy for me. Good review, but the way you relegate this watch to "dad watch" status is a big turn off, man... that sliding bezel has real utility for pilots, even for those at the student level like myself. I like the watch and will probably still buy one some day, but dang, way to slam Citizen... leave that spot for Armitron or something!
