I started with Seikos and Swatches as a youngster, then years later dipped toe into mid tier Swiss, then softly landed in Citizen land, and have since settled further into my natural habitat of hyper practical value world of Casio with a few Citizen and one Swiss. Guess I am value person at heart of it.

      @anond2015 11 месяцев назад +2

Casio is crazy value for the money. For the same money as a steel case, sunburst dial Casio, you can get a Timex with a brass case, cheap dial (looks like cardstock, honestly), and a beyond-cheap movement.
I just got a Batman Duro with an aftermarket solid link bracelet and am very happy with it. I might get their Datejust lookalike next, then after a couple raises start on Citizen and maybe Orient. Seiko Presage and similar have great dials for the money, but they're starting to ramp up pricing.

Mechanical watches were my first intro to watches. I love the idea of a wrist size machine telling me the time, but ultimately, they're not practical unless you only own and wear one. Quartz and Eco-drives are my gotos now, grab and go, Citizen eco drive is still incredibly cool tech to fit on a wrist.

My father's regular watch for the last 15-or-so years of his life was the Eco-Drive Skyhawk A-T Titanium purchased on a family vacation. He grew up in the 60s and was always fascinated by the technologies developed over his lifetime, including the technical marvel of that watch. My first Citizen was a Blue Angels edition in 2011 when I was stationed with the Blues. The enlisted team gets a sweet deal on the Blues watch and the Officers get a pretty good deal on a Breightling. They switched designs the next year and I had to get it for my collection. It was the one with the blue leather strap. My latest citizen is a blue on blue dive watch. For the price, it’s hard to beat a $4-500 Citizen.

@@nikkimiddlekillsday5161I disagree. What has Seiko got in the full-on pilot watch space? Flightmaster? Citizen have the technically superior Navihawk AND Skyhawk. Monobloc Promaster Tough beats any field watch in Seiko’s lineup hands down. Chronos are, honestly, pick ‘em. The one line Seiko own Citizen is in their dress watches. Yes, Seiko’s designs are “better” (in that they’re less understated & have more mass appeal) but that’s somewhat subjective. Where Citizen is objectively better is their QC; they’ll cut corners on kit before they cut corners on quality.

I've always liked the natural appeal of a nice time piece, but I only recently dove into the world of watches and I have to say, I'm hooked. As an aviator in the USAF, I always relied on my trusty Gshock. But I've recently discovered Citizen's Navihawk line and just purchased one for my birthday, and I couldn't be happier. Cheers!

Have 1 of each land, sea, air. Love green watches. Diver and Tsuno titanium. Great watches great value. Citizen is hands down better than Seiko. 😊

what’s wrong with Seiko? I’ve heard they have great quality. I only own a series 8 Apple watch and $13 casio, so i don’t have any experience with these watches.

      Seike has great build quality.
Just because some guys that rather spend 700 dollars on 12 microbrand watches instead of getting an alpinist, willard or marinemaster complain about seikos lower-end models doesn't mean that the brand has a bad build-quality. The opinion of those people isn't worth very much.
I've never seen an seiko with an actual production-problem myself

U r right, gave a Seiko 5 as a present away, broken after 3yrs. Wearing an Allwyn Seiko licence built made in India, ~25yrs old, no overhauling, swimming, still running. Never Seiko!

@@TheMonsterHunterTV it's not the cheaper ones I'm referring to. It's the alpinist, Willard, and various 62mas interpretations which are the issue. Misaligned chapter ring, misaligned hour hand, plus poor regulation. There's no way on earth any of their 6r movements are near a sellita sw200. The only line that is the exception is the LX.

Citizen Promaster Aqualand watches were worn by RAN Clearance Divers between 1990s and the 2000s. In fact, Citizen Promaster Eco-Drive watches are still given to graduates of the Clearance Diver training school at graduation ceremonies. I wear a Citizen Promaster Eco-Drive watch that is the same model worn by Her Majesty’s Royal Navy divers.

I had a dive watch from Citizen, but the seconds hand falling almost everytime between the lines, it was driving me mad, so I sold it. Now I have a dress watch with Eco-Drive and this is a watch I love

Highly recommend the Caliber 2100 or anything with the E210 movement. It is a hand assembled movement with 12 hour fly back chrono, alarm, and eco drive. I bought mine in 2007 and it is still going. They have re-released the 2100 again, but many older ones are available for under 300. New Chrono racers with the movement in the bullhead configuration are available as well.

I went from no Citizen watches to four in quick order. And all because of great prices, a lot of watch for the money. I got two Eco-drives, both of which are great. One is a chronograph. Then I have one mechanical and one quartz. All told, all four cost me less than $2000. Two were new and two were pre-owned. Can't say enough good things about Citizen. They have made nice additions to my collection.

For whatever reasons, I love the look of the orca - maybe because it's quirky, and because of the rounded shapes on the dial. And as others have said, eco-drive is just brilliant. Great video, with on-point thoughts. Will you do the same for other brands?

The Citizen Promaster Automatic Challenge Diver is a direct 1-to-1 copy of the model known as the “Barnacle” for the reason mentioned by Teddy. It was also known as the “Flying Diver” as it was the model issued to pilots of the Pakistan Air Force between the 1970s and 1980s.

Citizen is my favorite brand, I am a fan of the promaster series. My first one was the skyhawk blue angels edition, radio controlled eco drive, and the navyhawk was the second one. Recently I bought the promaster skyhawk pilot, eco drive and radio controlled, but a much simpler dial in super titanium, it's only about 99 grams. I like the tsuyosa, is a great alternative to the Tissot prx. 👍👍👍

Nice video. I have a couple of citizen watches, one I bought some years ago and another that an uncle gifted to me. But I don't know why after all this time since I've been collecting watches I see them differently and I don't like them as I used to. Thanks for the video to appreciate and wear them again.
I would really like to get the ecozilla olive green regardless of my wrist being not that big. 😁

I think Citizen are a bit overlooked when it comes to their automatic options as well. For example, the Citizen NB1060-04A is a stunning 38mm dress watch with a silver laquer dial and an automatic 4hz sweep. Not many people know about it because it's a JDM model but it's worth taking look at.
