Good to see Berrettini win a title, after a lot of injury issues he's had over the past years or so. He is one of nicest guys on the Tour, and when he is on, he is tough to beat for anyone. That forehand has to be one of the best in the business.
- Congrats Berrettini! - After 3-3 in the first set he won 9 games in a row! - Second title of 2024! - Just this week he moved from No. 82 to No. 50 come Monday. - Could get back into the Top 10 by year end. - Another ridiculous-looking trophy!
Yeah will be tough to pass Musetti and get back into top 10 but it’s possible, he just needs to stay healthy. Would be awesome to have an all Italian Wimbledon final next yr with Sinner and Berrettini or maybe even Musetti 🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹
Nice win. You can clearly hear the difference between Halys' normal grunt, when he strikes a hard ball and effectively exhales to guide the effort, and his usual late grunts, long after he made contact. I'm totally fine with normal grunts. Deliberately delayed grunts are ridiculous, annoying and scammy. (Berettini not totally free from that either)
Berrettini's Wimbledon match against Sinner was thriller. Berrettini could have made it to the final easily if he was placed on the other half of the draw. What a superb player. 👏💪
If iam right, he was the second player with the most spin in forehand, after Nadal. And his spin is like a topspin, so on clay, is forehand is even better than an other surface.
Confidence is absolutely high for berrettini, going into hard court swing and obviously Olympics which doesn’t count atp points, he could potentially be seeded if his results permit
@@imnotanactualscammer2990 Just to complete the information. Italy (like others) has no more than 4 spots so Sinner, Musetti, Darderi and Arnaldi are playing in Paris (based on points made in the last year).
Berrettini upper body is huge like a wrestler!😅 His performance depends totally on his legs that have a big job to do🦵 Amazing win 🏆for him especially in this surface!
When he enters the court at the beginning of the match he seems clean-shaven, then at the end of the interview he has a long beard... is it an optical effect or does it grow quickly?
This is a great example that anything elite level is more about mentality than skill, although it's often both, but I'd say 75%+ mentality. Halys gave up on this match by the time the second set was over. And now Berrtini dropping to ATP 250 level instead of 500 or 1,000, but I guess making progress compared to recent performances.
Beating the most competitive challenger Struff in the semi is not the same as beating champions like Felix or Stephanos. That the difference when u met someone with a challenging run and u come from an almost easy one.
It's not unfair. His opponent deserved direct entry for his past results which reflect his rating. The qualifier should be greateful there is the option to qualify, because they could also just enter players based on their rating and not bother with qualies at all.
I think Berrettini should have stayed with a one-handed backhand instead of switching so late in his junior days. His unnatural looking two handed backhand is now his only weakness really.
Wtf is Halys doing in a final? He's challenger level only..must have been hard for the tournament to get players signed up rofl..well done Berry..east title for you :)
A golden age for Italian tennis.

There were none of the top 10 playing in this tournament so he had a better chance at winning.
Berrettini has had a great run so far and his chances of becoming top 10 have increased. Hope he makes it far in the US Open.
oui, après j'espère qu'il aura plus de chance qu'à Wimbledon au tirage!

Great to see him back after the injury, you totally deserve it Mateo.Let come back to the top 20
Winning almost 20 points in a row is just insane. What an amazing 2nd set 😮
Goodness! Berrettini had some merciless tennis. Good to see him in prime form.
Mateo's slice backhand is money
*tt :)
Halys just found his optimized version.
Props to him for not retiring.

People keep talking about Berrettini 's weak backhand, but in my opinion that wicked slice of his makes up for most of if not all of it.

Glückwunsch Berettini 🏆👍
Great to see him back and playingg better then ever. Ladies are quite happy as well.
I don't understand how Berrettini is so good on clay. The elements of his game don't make sense for it. But it's undeniable.
Why? Top serve, and backspin serve, top slice, top fh.
He's italian so he grew up on clay.
Also, since the ball is slower, he has more time to move on his forehand.
If iam right, he was the second player with the most spin in forehand, after Nadal. And his spin is like a topspin, so on clay, is forehand is even better than an other surface.
Such a sweet, sweet man above all else regarding his brilliant tennis ❤❤❤
