      yes on the old grass which they slowed down in 2002. And the fast court at us open which they slowed down towards end of 2000;s. Federer would almost be unstoppable. I think prime djokovic is maybe the only one that could beat him.

    • @kwl189
      @kwl189 Год назад +57

      @@derrickc1353 not even prime Djokovic could stop him. By the time Djokovic started doing well on grass, Wimbledon courts were as slow as the clay at Roland Garros. Now it's a disgrace to old eras of fast grass courts. Federer is untouchable on even reasonably fast courts. Only age and slow courts were able to beat him. The slower courts brought extended baseline rallies. Fed grew up in a serve and volley era.

    • @derrickc1353

      @@kwl189 I don't know. Djokovic never really played on grass when the courts were fast. Okay let's say slight edge to Federer at wimbledon. I do think with djokovic movement and speed that he would be ok on the old grass. What about australian open on the old green courts and Us open old courts. It would be close between those 2 very hard to tell. I do think Djokovic 15 is the only one who could stay with Federer under the old courts when they played quicker. Djokovic has an all-court game like Federer too. So hard to say. I give slight edge to Djokovic overall because he has a winning record against Nadal head to head and that includes clay court matches.

      It's such a shame that he blew it in the 2nd and 4th set against Del Potro in the 2009 US Open. He was 3-1 up in the 2nd set and he was 15/30 on Del Potro's serve at 4-5 and was 2 points away from is 16th Grand Slam and becoming the first man to win six consecutive US Open titles in the Open Era. He was also 2 points away from becoming the first man to win the Surface Slam and the first player to win the French Open, Wimbledon and US Open in the same calendar year since Rod Laver in 1969.
      He was all conquering but unfortunately since those moments a mental weakness developed and he struggled to win any further Grand Slams. He also never won a US open again. He should be the undisputed G.O.A.T but unfortunately he let so many critical break points and match points slip.

      The Big three each have their own area of greatness:
      - Roger is the most dominant. He has bageled the other two more (he has more bagels in general) and his wins are usually more comfortable with less games lost.
      -Rafa is the King of comebacks. He usually plays even better after losing and being cornered, fights after every point and has turned as round a match from being match point and set down and also a set from being 5-1 40-0 down.
      -Nole is the most clutch. He's overall a robot i.e having the most flat, baseline-grinding playstyle, mostly forcing opponents to mistakes or mishits but he plays consistently and he wins the important points. He can be worse than his opponent during an entire match, then win one crucial break point and a tie break and steal the win. His mental toughness is also unparalleled.

    I wish Roger was still playing at the highest level. What a sublime player, what a gentleman, so well spoken and charismatic. He was the everything of tennis. Some people say the sport is greater than than the player. This is not true. Its the player that makes the sport great.

    This video is pure gold and illustrates why Roger Federer is arguably the greatest player of all time. The shot making is out of this world! Brilliant player. Novak Djokovic and Rafa Nadal are also all time greats, but I don't think they can match Roger's unbelievable artistry if they tried.

    There are players that are efficient at the most, there are others that are athletically invincible, there are even a few that are all of that united with great technique which make them the most talented and the greatest recordmen of the sports. But there's one, only one, which on top of all that added the pure art. The joy of the game itself. The class! His records have been borken but his game will be there forever to watch. I saw him losing matches just trying to make the most spectacular shots instead of the easiest winners. He's my GOAT and any number can make me change opinion about it. He never played for the numbers he played to show he was the best ..., and he was

    When Federer dominated the tennis court in the early 2000's, I thought it was the era without brilliant male players as 90's, an era without the players like Sampras, Agassi, Becker, Edberg, Courier, Rafter and other big names. I thought Federer could reach such success only because he was playing in a less competitive environment.
    Then, I realised it's nothing to do with the era and the environment, he was just that good. There were great players still, but Federer just surpassed them. And I'm glad that I had such a privilege to witness this legend in the last two decades🙂.

    • @Mark-ut5oq
      @Mark-ut5oq Год назад +2

      it was a product of both. Once Nadal and djokovic hit the scene, his success dwindled tremendously. He won only 5 grand slams after 2009

    • @molybdaenmornell123hopp5
      @molybdaenmornell123hopp5 Год назад +2

      @@Mark-ut5oq But he also started losing to other guys he'd never lost to before in 2010. He kept having early Slam exits, having previously made 18 out of 19 straight(!) finals and 23 straight semis. It's very clear to me that something other than Djokovic and Nadal had an impact on his dwindling results. Either a lot of players got better or Federer after 2009 was less good at winning than before.

    I'm a Rafa fan. Hands down. But it has to be said, Roger at prime level has no contenders. Genius and the legs to run down anything. Nothing's ever gonna come close to a player like him. Yeah, djokers got lots of titles, Rafa's the king of clay and everybody else is just noise but this guy, oo my this guy had it all. Cool head, poise, demeanor, attitude, game, class, IQ, legs. Master of masters. Will miss him play honestly.

    There has never existed, nor will exist anyone at his level of perfection. Think of tennis, think of Federer.

    That 9:10 rally on that break point is amazing, so many shots within such a small margin of the court or the net for a 14 shot rally. Goes to show how well Roger had to play to keep Rafa's improving grass court tennis at bay.
